I'm not sure if these are issues for any of you, but it is bugging me to all heathen. I keep having issues with snow that overall don't feel like mechanics. It feels like an annoyance.

SNOW:

• Paths - Snow keeps covering the paths, and I can't see them. Yes, Snow does indeed cover things when it comes down. But from a video game sense it's super obnoxious. 

BRIGHTNESS:

• Nightmares - This is a double team between the brightness and the snow. It makes the nightmares practically impossible to see. I'll be insane sitting still then.....

WAMMO!!!!

          They come out of nowhere. 

If it's possible to fix these in a QOL PLEASE DO! If you guys have any "Snow" issues, please post them.

I was playing in a server with a group of friends and started to wonder if you kill a shadow creature should the group get the split instead of one person just getting the last hit on it? Might be something to consider.

I feel the need to go to the ocean very limited except for the stone fruits. 

I think making icebergs a thing would promote that going out to see more and possibly even freezing part of the ocean to walk on temporarily.

Overall icebergs should be a thing.

Greetings survivors of the constant.

DST balanced with there character reworks several characters and made them more enjoyable and more interesting.

But we have still 3 of the old overpowered and 1 new overpowered char in the game, that tower over everyone else.

Wickerbottom:

- can spawn tentacles that completly demolish Beequeen, Dragonfly, hound waves, etc. 

- she has a cheaper "panflute book"

- her downsides are irelevant: she can't sleep and can't eat stale food, there are so many ways to avoid those downsides

- the rest of her books and traits are fine (now after applied horticulture abridged)

- of course her rework could bring her new interesting books with new effects that could be balanced arount crafting cost, etc.

WX 78:

- the gears buff are not the problem

- but the overload is, it lets him run 50% faster (stacks with roads, walking cane) emit a small circle of light around him (he is immune to the night) and makes him immune to freezing, all of that is extremly powerful, but would be still fine because it doesn't last that long, the problem here is Wickerbottoms lightning strike book, with this book she can just stack that overcharge effect for such a long time that it becomes broken to no end, and the book is cheap to craft

- he should be upgradable with the powers of other clockworks, rook charge, bishop range attack, floaty boaty knight boad mode, something that makes his machine side more interesting

- he should get way more damage from beeing wet

Wolfgang:

- he does the damage of 2 characters all by himself, the problem here is that every boss that gets added must be balanced around Wolfgangs damage multiplier, Toadstool has 52000 health and one reason for that is Wolfgangs strength, because every boss in the game must last long enough for the characters to remain a challange and Wolfgang sets the health bar of anything so high, that every other character suffers from that

- it became even worse since we have the character switch, everytime when I want to fight a raid boss, I switch to Wolfgang, because every fight only last half as long, that means I need way less armor, healing, weapons, ressources, it is a waste of time to fight raid bosses with any character but Wolfgang

- there has to be a solution to that, Wolfgang shouldn't be a switch to boss kill character, he should build up his strength with time, like Wilson needs time to grow his beard, WX 78 needs time to level up with gears, Wurt needs time to build her merm kingdom and when you switch to a diffrent char, Wolfgang should loose its power again, like WX 78 looses its buff from gears when he dies

- he should get stronger when he does physical labor, chopping trees, mining boulders, fighting, training, etc. so that he buffs himself like a real strong man would do, not just by eating 3 meat balls made of 9 ice and 3 monster meat

- besides of that he should have other interesting trades aswell, beside his fighting power

Wortox:

- he gets souls from killing living creatures, with souls he teleports, he heals 20 health and he can eat them for 18 hunger

- the reason why this gets so absolutely broken are bees and butterflies

- killing a butterfly grants him 1 soul that heals 20 health (+4 health of the buttyfly wing, he gets only half the effects of food) or 18 hunger (+4 hunger from the wings)

- killing 5 butterflies, one of the easiest to kill mobs in the game grants him more than 100 health or 90 hunger and only cost him 25 sanity (he loses 5 sanity by eating souls)

- can also catch butterflies, bees, etc with a bugnet and can store even more "souls" this way, this is completly insane

- little critters like bees, butterflies, mosquitos, etc.shouldn't drop souls, that would make him way more balanced

- he could still have a living rabbit, moleworm in his inventory, that he can kill for 1 soul, but you can't stack rabbits and your item slots are limited

- besides of that Wortox is actually fine, he is still very strong, but atleast you have to kill spiders for souls, they can atleast try to fight back, a butterfly can not

I am very interested in your thoughts, how would you balance those 4 characters?

Which interesting new strange powers could Wickerbottom, Wolfgang and WX78 get?

And why do you hate Wes so much? ^O^

Hello everyone. Im back with some more skin ideas! Same as the 1st one, Feedback or more ideas from others or KLEI itself would be helpful.

(Note: I do thank everyone that posted and commented on the 1st one, I wasnt expecting anyone to at all. Lets keep the train going, whether here or at the old one!)

Heres some New Ideas I have goten over the time since the last post:

Bee Queen Crown - An Actual Crown, with a Bee design or similar to Pig Queen's Crown from Hamlet

Bone Helm/Armor - Not sure of one, but I think there are some ideas for skins for it...

Produce Scale - Skin that makes look like the ones you see in stores.

Boat Kit - Skins that change the color of wood. (Similar to the skins for Fences, Fence Gates and Mini Signs)

Pinchin' Winch - A skin that makes it like a claw from a claw machine or from a construction site.

Potter's Wheel - Maybe something like a Architect's Table? 

Moon Dial - Skin that makes look like a fountain or waterfall.

Salt Lick - Sweet Lick: Instead of salt, its candy or some sweet treat.

The Lazy Deserter - Similar To the Bone Armor/Helm, Ideas are needed and welcomed. 

Maybe even a skin for the Replica Relics? Or even the....

Insulated Pack?

With the new updates, we've been getting more and more information about why the survivors went into the constant. Wes was brought in by accident, but Maxwell intended to catch Witherstone, a guy who he owed money to and was being threatened by if he didn't pay up. Wendy was likely taken in out of sympathy, so she could be reunited with her sister. Willow was probably the one responsible for the voxola factory fire, which sabotaged Maxwell's plans, so he took her in. Et cetera, et cetera. you get the idea. But why was Wilson taken in? What did he do that made Maxwell seek that revenge? Sure, we know how he tricked Wilson, but why did he trick Wilson? And why did Wilson need to make a portal while everyone else could just get taken in by shadow hands in the ground?

imagine Klei just stop updating DST for 3 years on one platform, came back to update the game with some bug fix (which they didn't even fix all the most popular bug), then disappear for the next 2 years while adding a QoL update for the other platform. During that time, the forum of the game is dead and the dev doesn't even respond to bug report from the player 

after 2 years, they pop up again, turn that QoL update from back then into a separate game that you have to rent for it while the orginal version stays dead 

and that version has bug that the dev won't respond to too

I was using the 3 door strat if you are not familiar with it link is below.

GB wasnt supposed to be pass the walls if there is open place to move on but here somehow they passes it and both door are open except the middle one which is how it supposed to be. I just dont get it why this doesnt work? I cant even get a chance to hit the BQ.

I'm assuming there are already a bunch of threads regarding the lore of this game, but I'm not about to look through 483 pages of topics in General Discussion for one (I'm actually really new to this site and don't know where the search feature is.... or much of anything... so if anyone knows anything on that, I'd appreciate some of that knowledge). 

Anyway, I know I am 8 years late to the whole topic on the lore and storyline and everything, however... here's a fresh thread to discuss such things, to catch us newbies up to date, and to explore the new content and character refreshes that Klei Entertainment is going to release this year.

It helped catch me up on a lot of information I would have missed, such as from the William Carter Puzzles and the Cyclum Puzzles.

Here is the video link of this trick Spiral Starfish Trap . 

It is a fortification against Hounds attack. Players only need to run clockwise around those Pawn Figures. Ceause hounds are slowly than player they will fall into the center of the trap.  There are 4 Anenemies at the center of the circle.

As we know the Anenemy will trigger and deal 60 damage to anything on top of it and close itself for around 1 minute. And they will always work even if the player leaves the trap to a very far place. 

Players can leave here to do other things, until the hounds are completely wiped out or the next hound attack. It only takes up to 4 minutes to destroy all the hounds. And do not afraid about ice or fire hounds. It will not have any bad effects with fire or ice.

You can ride a beefalo to reap the spoils. In this way, the beefalo can take the damage instead of the player. Don’t worry it won’t hurt beefalo. : )

This fortification is also worked well for Frog Rain / Werepigs / Bunny / Shadow Splumonkey / Deerclops ( 8 days) .

This morning I was testing ingame on a klei server, and it seems like the werebeaver is now taking one gnaw to gnaw up stumps. Normally I would be happy, but I can't find any evidence of this update on the forums or even within the game's code. Is anyone else experiencing this or am I just a complete madman?

i love this game so much i played it cracked but i vant to play it online vith other people but my parents are not letting me spend money on games and i really liked this game but i dont vant to play it cracked

also yes i cant buy it because the Economy in my country is bad and i cant buy it by myself because i dont have a credit card or my parents not let me buy it

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

Silly game here: Give yourself a title based on your personal, most unique, character-indipendent DS(T) ability or superpower.

I'm now Brave Butterstacker, Wielder of the Waffle.

In my search I've found that his tools work 25% slower, his tools last either 25% or 33% longer (I assume they misspoke and meant 25% less durability loss, which would be 33% longer), his weight for lightning strikes is 0.6 instead of the standard 0.3 and WX's 1.0, his weight for hounds attacking him is doubled, his insulation nerf lowers his clothing value by 30 so does nothing when you don't have insulating clothes on, his hat offers 20% wetness resistance & restores 6.4 sanity over the day it lasts, his vest prevents the max health penalty from falling in the ocean but not dropped items, and his party balloons will restore 5/10/15/17.5/20 sanity over 10 seconds, depending on how many balloons and/or players are present.

But all I can find for his speed balloon is the wiki saying it "Increases player movement speed by 10%, 20% or 30% for limited time", and it has pictures for 100%, 66%, and 33% durability which seems to imply those speeds would change at the 80 and 40 second mark which goes against what people have been saying. Can someone who knows the technical aspects of his rework please verify if all the information I've found is correct, and tell me exactly how the speed balloon works? If there's anything else I missed that you'd like to add that would also be helpful to me and anyone else seeing this thread.

Whenever I create a new boat to explore the seas I think about how to fit everything I need in that small space and still make it easy to walk around and interact with everything, so I figured it'd be nice to see how other players do it and maybe just see some boats that look cool.

S Tier Solo:

Wickerbottom - Wickerbottom is just the best character no questions ask. Early game she can rush the bee queen to get broken loot from the start has well has having a great ruins rush i her high sanity and science up perk. Mid game she can set-up farms (Splumonkey farms, spiders farms, verg farms, klaus farms, etc) to get abundant resources and fight/cheese bosses with them plus she spawns food from the air ! The nerf to her Horticulture was big and killed a lot of food farms with lure plants but you can still use those set ups to farm twigs, grass and such. Overall she has no down side and amazing cealing, by far best character in the game.

Wulfgang - Wulfgang destroys the game with his massive damage, movespeed, sanity manipulation and hidden healing mechanics, by fair the best character to 1v1 bosses with (all but bee queen, wendy and wickerbottom solo that one easyer)

Wortox - Wortox ignores basic game mechanics due to his souls, health is a non existing problem due to healing and free quiting from souls, is able to manipulate his sanity with his souls and has a sanity modifier that prevents him to go insane in boss fights, due to teleporting on the spot to avoid damage he has a higher dps then all characters but wulfgang, wigfried and wendy with abigail, has the best mobility in the game, butterflyes are all he needs, kill them to get health/food, plant them and pick them to get sanity. Basicly, when played right, he is imortal !

A Tier Solo:

Wendy - Wendy is the closest to S tier. She is the best at farming hords of mobs (even better than wickerbottom and webber for spiders), has great dps toghether with abygail and her aoe allows her to rush Bee queen that has the best drops early game. She can also rush ruins fairly easy with her sanity modifier and abygail´s light. In my opinion she is the discount version of Wickerbottom, can make mob farms faster and efficient but cant do has much has wicker, wicker can do all she does granted a bit slower but much more has well.

WX-78 - WX-78 is the best ruin rusher in the game witch makes you set for the rest of the game with the highest stats of all of the cast and a bunch of ancient equipment. You can craft the telelocator staff in autom to bypass winter freezing and get the move speed and in spring you can recharge again with the moose/goose birdies to get set for the rest of the year. With is movesped his dps increases vs normal combat characters and he becomes the best solo resouce gatherer (better than Maxwell cause you wont need has much resources when playing solo and WX-78 travels faster)

Maxwell - Maxwell is held back by is Shadow Duelists, if they had a decent code to attack and kite correctly he would be the best character in the game (maybe tight with wickerbottom :P ). His main park are is resource gathering abilities, amazing when playing together, not has much necesary when soloing. Hes the second best ruins rusher due to his pick axe shadow and his sanity aura. Inferior version of WX-78 when solo.

Wigfrid - Wigfrid is in every way chape and form a wost Wulfgang. If your playing solo theres no reason to pick her over wulf. However, a worst S-Tier Character is still a great character (check Wendy xD). Contrary to popular belive, Wigfrid has lower overall hunger than Wulfgang due to his Absurd 225 hunger (witch translate to 150 hunger when taking inconsideration the 1.5x) and has soon has wulfgang hits mighty form he gains the exact damage buff has wig does, when fightning bosses her damage reduction (that translates to a 250 health) gets overshadowed by Wulf´s 300 Health. Her songs dont help much since Wulfgang saves health and Durability by finishing fights faster. Her one and only upside when playing solo vs wulf is her sanity steal, when wulfgang players might go insane on certain bosses, she will keep her sanity and focused on her main target. This is countered by her inability to stay insane for farming nightmare fuel and a couple minutes of preparation with sanity food gets reed of this advantage. Taunt song is useless in solo, fire resist song is useles everywhere and the scare song dosent help enogh (you cant rely only on the song to fight bee queen without her little bees, you still need to run away or use wall methods) TLDR Pick Wulfgang Instead

Wurt - Wurt is the character that i least now about so take this positioning whith a grain of salt. Her being a vegan dosent realy hinder much due to the 33% buff on vegetable foods and her king upgrades are great. She can use the royal guards to fight bosses and thats what made me put her in A-tier. Dunno how costly she his or how big of a power house she can be but feel free to leave your toughts bellow

Woodie - Woddie is an inferior version of Maxwell that gets saved by one perk, his weregoose form ! With the weregoose hes the only character that can rush the lunar island. He can use lucy and werebeever to farm resources (Slower than maxwell but a tad bit faster than WX), he can put up a decent fight whith his Weremose form to farm regular mobs and has great speed with weregoose. Hes a conditional WX-78 thogether with a conditional Maxwell that gets saved by his Lunar Rushing skills, combining that with an overal good character and you have an easy A - Tier.

B-Tier Solo:

Webber - Webber main porpuse is to mass farm spiders, witch wendy and wicker can also do (Wendy even does it better). Recruting spiders is wicker than being able to recuit bunnyman and pig man so if you want to mass spider farm pick Wendy. If you want to mass spider farm at a lower / riskier speed but have tons and tons more stuff to do pick Wicker.

Winona - Winona has 1 and only 1 good perk, her catapults. She can set up decent farms and solo bosses with them. Unfortunly other characters (see obove) also do that and better. Maybe she would be higher if her builds were cheeper.

Walter - Walter is the one im not certain about. I even considered puting him on E tier at one point but realizing his ability to sling cheese most of the problems (bosses) that were making me puting him on e tier made me change my mind. However is inabitlity to manipulate sanity and not being able to fuly rely on sling shot make him B-tier.

C-Tier Solo:

Willow - Willow is meh. Her ligter his cool i gues but the main thing that atracts me to her is her ability to farm Night creatures with bernie. Having a server full of Willow,s mass farming nightmare fuel uring the nightmare phsae with a bunch of bernies is cool, 1 bernie aloane gets easly overun making her a wilson with a lighter instead of a beard.

Wilson - Wilson hes just wilson, no drawbacks and a beard.

D-Tier Solo:

Wormhood - Wormhood acessebility to farm its pointless unless massfarming, hes inability to reliably heal makes him unreliable to solo bosses with and his move speed is nice but cant be fully apreciated due to the hunger decrease and not being a reliable fighter for the increase dps.

Warly - Warly only upside are is buffed diches, however you take a couple of days to get does set up and his food restrictions are anoying. I rather pick Wilson.

E-Tier Solo:

Wes - Wes is just Wes, if your nit chalenging yourself dont pick him.

S-Tier Together:

Wickerbottom - Everything that made ger a solo S tier gets even better when playing together ! You can mass farm resources and food for everyon, get everyone a head start with you science up and set up farms to make everyone selfsufficient by yourself !

Wormhood - Wormhood becomes a broken when playing together cause his weaknes are all covered up with other characters. He can mass far crops and living logs without a care in the world for fighting

Wortox - Wortox remains imortal exept he dosent need to eat food so he cant give it most/all his food to his teamates and can heal the, has well making them closer to imortality

Warly - Similar to Wormhood, Waly gets acess to his buffed dishes way faster with teamates and gets is downsides covered with help from others making him focus on coocking, planting (together with wormhood) and being a suportive character for the team

A-Tier

Maxwell - Maxwell truly shines when playing with teamates has is early game mass resource gathering is the best in the game. He can also rush the ruins if needed.

Wendy - Wendy remains he budget Wickerbottom status being able to mass farm food and rush bee queen.

Wurt - Has i said befour im not familiar with Wurt but i assume her being able to grant acess to the merm king for all players is great and loyal mers are still great to help fight with.

Wigfrid - Wigfrid is actualy better than Wulfgang when playing together, not only can she give helmets to avoid destroying pig houses but her songs buff alies. A single buff to her wasent enogh to rival wulf but a whole squad of buffed characters outshine him easy. Also her Taunt Song gains usability to make her be the focus thoese tanking for her friends.

Woodie - Woodie is great for the same reasons has solo, decent resource gatherer, decent mob farmer, can rush lunar islands

B-Tier Together:

Webber - Webber can actualy raise to an A-tier depending on how much players you need to feed early on. Wendy can farm spiders better but takes more time to set up the eggs, webber is less efficeinet at farming them but sets and upgrades farms faster. In desperate need of mass amounts of food early on ? Pick Webber over Wendy. If not Wendy is the better choice.

Winona - Winona dosent change much, her catapults can be overshadowd by more players and farms in general are best left for other characters. Can speed boss fights a lot tho.

Willow - Willow actualy gains points when playing together cause a couple willows can set up a fairly decenet and early nightmare fuel farm in the ruins. Her Lighters are also a nice thing to have and she can gift them to her team mates making her climb a tier. 

Walter - Walter can freely dps with slingshot without messing up someones kiting making him a decent support when fighting. Dosent offer much tho besides increased dps and bag space. Hes basicly a chester that shots stuf at the enemy and since i like chester he remains in b tier.

Wulfgang - Wulfgang suffers a massive drop on together due to his damage not being needed anymore. A whole squad or even a couple of teamates can destry bosses easly and the couple of seconds wulf saves by killing him faster dosent compensate the extra food needed to feed him. You can send him of to fight aloane while you do other stuff but its more efficeint to fight bosses has a team to make it easier and less resource intensive.

WX-78 - WX-78 has 0 to no porpuse on a team. He runs fast so you can use him as a gatherer but other than that hes just a trash  bin for rotten food that eats all your gears. One could argue that Wilson is a better teamate due to meat effegies and a couple of characters exclusive items requiring beard hair but i digress.

C- Tier Together:

Wilson - Wilson can create early meet effegies to make everyone saffer and.... thats all.

E- Tier Together:

Wes - Pick him if your trying to get the World Record Ban on dst public servers.
