In my search I've found that his tools work 25% slower, his tools last either 25% or 33% longer (I assume they misspoke and meant 25% less durability loss, which would be 33% longer), his weight for lightning strikes is 0.6 instead of the standard 0.3 and WX's 1.0, his weight for hounds attacking him is doubled, his insulation nerf lowers his clothing value by 30 so does nothing when you don't have insulating clothes on, his hat offers 20% wetness resistance & restores 6.4 sanity over the day it lasts, his vest prevents the max health penalty from falling in the ocean but not dropped items, and his party balloons will restore 5/10/15/17.5/20 sanity over 10 seconds, depending on how many balloons and/or players are present.
But I can't find exactly how his speed balloon works, the closest I can find is the wiki saying it "Increases player movement speed by 10%, 20% or 30% for limited time" with pictures for 100%, 66%, and 33% durability which seems to imply those speeds would change at the 80 and 40 second mark which goes against what people have been saying. Can someone who knows the technical aspects of his rework please verify if all the information I've found is correct, and tell me exactly how the speed balloon works? If there's anything else I missed that you'd like to add that would also be helpful to me and anyone else seeing this thread.
Thank you.

Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!

Hey, does anybody know if the music used in shorts is avaible somewhere or if it will be?
imagine Klei just stop updating DST for 3 years on one platform, came back to update the game with some bug fix (which they didn't even fix all the most popular bug), then disappear for the next 2 years while adding a QoL update for the other platform. During that time, the forum of the game is dead and the dev doesn't even respond to bug report from the player
after 2 years, they pop up again, turn that QoL update from back then into a separate game that you have to rent for it while the orginal version stays dead
and that version has bug that the dev won't respond to too
Hey,
For those of you who don't know. When marble trees were initially introduced in the A New Reign updates a couple years ago. They would initially always drop 3 marble and 1 marble bean when mined at their fully grown stage. While I do agree that that was excessive at the time, I felt the nerf was always a bit over the top going from 3 marble + 1 bean to either 1 marble & 1 bean or 2 marble.
Now, a couple months back the cost for marble suits was changed from 12 marble to only 6 marble. I feel like it would have been a smarter choice to maybe add another piece of marble to the marble tree loot table instead of reducing the cost of the marble suit, as the marble suit appears to be the only truly functional thing you make out of marble, whereas statues and checkered flooring are purely decorational. (I personally don't use marble statues to block things for farms or defensive areas, as I prefer the imo highly superior looking moon glass for that purpose)
Farming marble feels quite unrewarding imo. It takes like 15 days to grow them and you basically only double your input. The mining process itself is incredibly slow and requires lots of pickaxes, so often find myself using bearger, rooks or the forest stalker to knock them down for me.
I feel like increasing the marble tree loot from an effective 2 to 3 pieces while reverting the marble suit cost could make farming marble less tedious and feel more rewarding to basebuilders like me, while at the same time making sure it does not become too easy to obtain the very powerful marble suits.
Any thoughts on this? It's not something I feel out of this world passionate about, but I wanted to get my thoughts on this topic out, as I always felt the change to marble suit cost was a very weird approach to balance the power of marble.
I was using the 3 door strat if you are not familiar with it link is below.
GB wasnt supposed to be pass the walls if there is open place to move on but here somehow they passes it and both door are open except the middle one which is how it supposed to be. I just dont get it why this doesnt work? I cant even get a chance to hit the BQ.
Looking back at terraria and the amount of hours I spent on it, abandoning the entire franchise is a shame, but had to be left behind to save me from being bitter as I tried to participate in playing it. For me it was pvp's fundamental mechanics and the behavior of blocks when building. As an avid builder, I was offended by these changes and lack of interest trying to correct what was detrimentally changed.
I digress. In a similar circumstance, what would Don't starve together need to do wrong to lose your patronage?
The entire game is relatively fair and the community seems to be on the same page in general when it comes to what they want, but perhaps there's something the general audience is missing or taking for granted that you value more than anyone else
I can't name anything that specific, but if I were to give a rough example, infinite light via festive lights being patched out without a vanilla alternative would put me off for at least a few months. That and some glitches I won't bring to light that aren't particularly powerful or gamebreaking, but those I use to bring an extra dimension to my builds.
Those are just 2 examples, 1 being more specific and 1 being vague.
Let us know what changes you don't want in this game to understand what you appreciate in the game to this point.
Or if you don't play so much because of a patch you disagree with, what was the patch?
The more I think about it, the more I predict that the next new DLC character has to be related to the sea.
Now from the perspective of new players, they likely have roamed the map a lot, and encountered both the caves and the ocean, but more so the caves. Sea exploration is hard for new players because it isn't as simple as traveling into a sinkhole. We have had many updates in the ocean, but a proper sea exploration character has not been made to explore these updates.
Warly/Wormwood were added to promote cooking/farming, Winona was added for bosses (and also Trusty Tape), Wortox/Walter for exploration on mainland and caves, and Wurt was added for a little bit of sea exploration for kelp to help build merm kingdom. The only "real" character for exploring the sea is Woodie's Weregoose transformation, so it's very sad that we don't have a real aficionado explorer of the sea.
Now, Woodlegs is a great pirate but doesn't seem like the right character to add, since he loses sanity constantly on land (but it doesn't rule him out). Walani seems like a great candidate, since her surfboard allows picking things up along the coastline, and is probably my prediction for a good starter character for sea exploration.
Now, an entirely new character could be possible, but then I'm talking about a deep ocean character. Someone who is capable of living off of fish for a long time. Someone like a fisherman who is very good at fishing (and eating) all kinds of fish, and has a benefit to eating fish crockpot foods. He'd be able to use the Tackle Receptacle and Crabby Hermit fishing items more effectively than others. He could craft his own special rod or fishing net, or his own special bait, and give Crabby Hermit a run for her money. The player would be able to learn that each fish is unique in its own special way, and would also learn about Wobsters, barnacles, sea flowers, Gnarwails, sharks, and much more going on in the sea. There are so many varieties of fish and sea life out there that I would predict a fisherman to be the next exploration character coming soon to DST.
TLDR; I predict Walani as a sea exploration starter character, otherwise a new fisherman character capable of exploring the sea, sea creatures, and exotic fish in general.
What are some of your own character predictions?
Hi everyone! Sorry if it seems like I just want to argue with arguments that don't hold up, Most of my info comes from other people, as I haven't survived longer than 30 days on a fresh server. (Pathetic I know)
I know YoTB ended in march but I just started thinking about this stuff now so sorry for being a month late.
For people who don't know what these Chinese New Year events are, or don't know what the chinese Zodiacs are, here a fast rundown:
An emperor held a race for the animals, the first 12 who finished got a year in the zodiac calendar after them. The Winners are the rat, ox, tiger, bunny, dragon, snake, horse, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.
and Since 2016/2017, Klei has been doing a Chinese new year event around Chinese New Year (I Know right?) Based on the current zodiac year. The events so far have been:
Year of the Gobbler
Year of the Varg
Year of The Pig King
Year of The Carrat
Year of the Beefalo
As you can see, Klei's already made about half the zodiac events. I will not cover year of the tiger as I have a post already about that particular event as it could prove to be more interesting. but if you wanna see my thoughts here's the link https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/forum/66-dont-starve-together-general-discussion/?do=add. Here are my predictions for the remaining events:
Year of The Bunnyman (I mean come on, it's either this, or Year of the Rabbit.)
Year of the Dragonfly (What other mob is there for a dragon?)
Year of The Depth Worm (could be, it's snek like, suggested by @SirToastyToes)
Year of The Clockwork/Clockwork Knight/Zeb (could be, clockwork knight turns out to be horse-like)
Year of the Ewecus/Volt Goat (Some people say it was a sheep, others a goat, the goat is the most popular option I think, so I think it might be more likely YoTVG)
Year of the Splumonkey (No other monkey mob in DST, excited to see what they do with splumonkeys with this one if I'm right :P)
Year of the Catcoon (I know the cat didn't actually reach the end in the race, but if Klei wants to screw the zodiac calendar after this then go right ahead)
The Year of the snek and year of the horse were suggested possibilities for their respective events that I didn't have a clue what they'd be. If you think differently about any of these event possibilities, please suggest in the comments below.
So i am not sure when this happend but
the symbol ^^
stands for Ransomware
I'm not sure if this is for dst(don't starve together) or ds(don't starve)
my virus protection detected this.

Google Translate:
Eating honey directly will restore blood. In reality, people will have no energy if they don’t eat salt. So eating salt should be energy to work, and work efficiency will double.
Then the honey crystal seasoning dishes set in the game will increase work efficiency after eating, and the food seasoned with salt will increase blood return after eating.
Although DST is a simulated survival game, I think it will be better if the content of the game is closer to reality. Hope the official can adopt it !!
I wanted to get this out before any possible update tomorrow. I present my case for Wagstaff being a villain in the DS/T story, and specifically the villain and a big boss encounter (if not the final boss).
Obviously a supervillain
Making the case for Wagstaff being a villain character is not hard. We can start with the writing in his quotes (which is my favorite bit of writing in the Hamlet era of DS singleplayer by the way).
Have you ever sat down and read through Wagstaff's quotes and realized, wow, he's evil isn't he? Just a straight up supervillain? I've selected a few quotes to illustrate this and put them in 3 handy categories:
Totally Normal things for someone to say
Unscrupulous Businessman/Repeating mistakes of the past
His Great Purpose/Scientific Revolution
(Fun little note: The Nightmare Throne and Nightmare Fuel Wagstaff quotes are the only ones of his that ends with double exclamation points!!)
Sure, his quotes show that Wagstaff is clearly good villain material, but we can go further and prove that he is the perfect villain for DS/T. In my opinion a good villain for a specific story has to be a "dark reflection" of the protagonist. My favorite example is Batman and the Joker. This dynamic brings balance to a story and bridges any opposing themes within, such as Science vs Magic in DS. DS already does this with Wilson and Maxwell. They are 2 sides of the same coin, similar in some ways and opposite in others. I can see similar parallels between Wagstaff and Maxwell, Wagstaff and Wilson, and even Wagstaff and Winona. This sets up his potential as a major protagonist almost too well.
Wagstaff is on the very end of the Science spectrum, yet vastly different from Wilson. Wilson is a hobby scientist, and a bad one at that. Before the Constant Wilson was a loner in a shabby house with not much to his name. Conversely, Wagstaff was a successful inventor, businessman, and a master of many scientific disciplines (as shown through many of the observations in his quotes). His perks involve actually building things, as opposed to Wilson whose special power is growing facial hair (although, he does technically have inventions in DST, but they are not exclusive to him/can be made by anyone). Winona builds things, too, but her buildings are themed around helping her friends to survive. Wagstaff makes things that only help himself or destroy things for his benefit.
Compared to Maxwell, Wagstaff is also a person who knows a lot about the Constant. One funny way they're similar is how Wagstaff makes meta observations of the game-like nature of the DS world. Maxwell does this, too, but in a way that seems like he is aware that he's in a game. There is also the dramatic irony in how Wagstaff talks about the Nightmare Fuel versus Maxwell's familiarity with its dangers. Wagstaff sees it as a resource to exploit, which is a major red flag. We know how wrong that can go because of what the game, especially Maxwell, has told us about its history: that the Ancient Civilization overused it to their eventual destruction.
It should also be noted how much work was put into humanizing Maxwell, the villain of the singleplayer game. He had a whole outside-of-the-game story campaign just for explaining his background. Wagstaff has not been given this treatment, and in fact his character works a lot better as the destruction-loving capitalist science man with questionable morals, sans any sympathetic traits. This would make him a stronger final villain as well, even in the wake of Maxwell's stint as the big bad. Wagstaff legitimately is the worst person to have this power, while Maxwell is more of a normal man who got in way over his head. Maxwell also at least seems a little remorseful for his wrongdoings as Nightmare King, especially in regards to Charlie who was innocent collateral damage. Wagstaff doesn't feel like the kind of person to feel bad for any of the hurt he causes, especially since he has "well-intentioned" goals for revolutionizing the world.
If Wagstaff is the villain character I imagine him to be, then there is another mirroring with Maxwell that I think balances out quite nicely:
Maxwell is originally presented as the villain of DS singleplayer, where he is slowly hyped up as the final boss battle of the game, but this is revealed to be a red herring when finding him and releasing him is simple and underwhelming. He then becomes a playable character.
Wagstaff is hyped as a huge character in the lore but is then retroactively added as a default playable character in the singleplayer game, which is underwhelming, but this is later revealed to be a red herring when he shows up in DST as a true final boss fight.
Not Like Other Survivors
Another big reason why Wagstaff is a/the villain of DST is because he cannot work as a playable DST character. This could just be because he was designed as a singleplayer character, and could be changed to work with a multiplayer environment. However, I think there is enough evidence that this likely isn't the case.
Speaking of Wagstaff's "projection", it has to be one of the most intriguing parts of his character. It is the one thing that brings his presence in DS singleplayer in question. What is meant by this projection? Is he really there? If he isn't, then where is the real Wagstaff? Why is he projecting himself like this? Another intriguing aspect of his character is his relationship to the Divining Rod and the Divining Rod base. Wagstaff (or at least his projections) recognize that the radio and the base are his technology, however he does not seem to know why they are there. This is significant because the Rod and the Base are the key and lock behind the Nightmare Throne itself. Whoever built these things is a huge piece of information.
Because of the doubts and questions Wagstaff creates, it feels like his whole presence in DS is a red herring, and his true potential has yet to be reached. A potential, mind you, that was highly anticipated. Wagstaff has been in the lore for a very long time, but only as a name in a 2013 forum post by Kevin Forbes. Being added to DS after so much time was such a cool surprise to us lore obsessed fans. Which is why him dead-ending in the singleplayer game feels... odd. Once he reaches the end of Adventure Mode and finds the Nightmare Throne he rejoices at his success at finding "the throne of ultimate power!!" But once he sits on the throne... nothing special happens. He ends up with the same fate as all the others. It could just be a fitting tragic ending for this man, which is perfectly in line with a game like DS singleplayer. But with all the unanswered questions surrounding Wagstaff and everything he's involved with, it just doesn't sit right with me. There has to be more.
My Theory
I wanted to end this with a cool big theory about where Wagstaff actually is with lots of detail, but with so little info to go by I only have quick wild hunches. Basically, I think Wagstaff is on the other throne which is on the moon. It ties together this recent moon theming pretty well, and I like the idea of Wagstaff being the White king as opposed to Maxwell and Charlie being the Black king and queen (following the chess theming in DS). I actually came up with this idea before the Forgotten Knowledge update, so I have some hopes that the inactive portal in the Ancient Archive is the portal to this moon throne room. And that "5 guys" teaser image for the next update looks suspiciously like Wagstaff's work, which utilizes what looks like the Celestial Orb (moon magic).
I hope this at least got some of your gears' turning! Thanks for reading.
(Also if I'm right and we see the true Wagstaff again... I hope that he's wearing only one glove.)
Today we have our next character refresh! We also have some new skins and a new short. No foolin'!
Don't Starve Together: C'est La Vie
Some people just seem to attract more than their fair share of bad luck... and even those people are grateful they aren't Wes.
Last year Wes received a character refresh that was largely divisive among members of the community. While our intention was to give him the proper attention he deserves, we didn't sufficiently focus on changes that really emphasize the essence of who Wes really is.
Here are the details:
More details:
Bug Fixes
Notes for Modders:
New Skins!
Wes Deluxe Wardrobe ($10.99): The Deluxe wardrobe contains the Fool, Guest of Honor, Triumphant, Survivor and Roseate skins for Wes.
The Fool's Tool Chest contains skins for the Walking Cane, Top Hat, and Pan Flute. $3.99
Streaming Drops!
In case you missed it, we're offering a new set of streaming drops over on Twitch.tv. Check out this post for details.
Login Bonus!
We thought that it would be appropriate to do a login bonus centered around how much everybody feels about Wes, so for a limited time, players that login during this time will receive nothing.
Still Salty?
The Salt Box Shaker has been added to Klei Rewards. Here is a link for 1200 points, Valid until May 1st.
Coming Up!
I can't get into details right now. But the team is working toward finishing the Return of Them arc. Obviously this means a lot of things and more info will come soon, but I thought it would be nice to reveal the hidden image from the roadmap. What is it? Who made it? Why does it matter? You'll find out soon.
Iam using potato and carrot combo and watering them twice a day in autumun. But they dont grow giant which is all stress factors are neutralized. Somehow when I try same combo on another world in god mode they grow giant. I dont get it what do I do wrong
Heres an example red are poatos greens are carrot
A thread like this existed before but I'm afraid it fell deep into the archive, so here is a new one. You can post funny, odd and terrible pictures that you made while playing DST.
Here are some from my collection:
Love this one because it looks like as if the third bunny from the right (not counting the bunny behind the hut) is throwing the small bunny.
My dear Wolfgang managed to trap himself while being sane and of course I mocked him by taking a screenshot and weeks later finding myself trapped in this too while being sane.
Wigfrid is able to fish in carpet. Who would have guessed.
Just a quick little reminder to edit the DST banner on the forum home page
Hi everyone! I'm back from spring break vacay! Sorry if my previous posts upset you. If my arguments don't hold up, my apologies, I joined in 2020, and to be honest I haven't passed day 30 by myself (go ahead laugh it out). But that's not what you're here for with this post, you're here for year of the tiger shark. For people who don't know what the DST Chinese new year events are (despite YoTB ending in march), or if you have no idea what the chinese zodiacs even are, let me quickly explain.
The Chinese zodiacs participated in a race for this emperor, the first 12 who finished got a place in the chinese zodiac. The winners in order are:
the Rat, the ox, the tiger, the bunny, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the pig.
Since 2016/2017, klei has been doing chinese new year events for these zodiacs.
The events that have happened so far are, the year of the gobbler, the year of the varg, the year of the pig king, the year of the carrat, and the year of the beefalo
As you probably noticed if you paid attention, the next one would be the year of the tiger. 'but there is no tiger mob in Dont starve!' says big babies like I used to be (3 months ago) who only know DST, and not the Don't starve DLCs, Shipwrecked and hamlet, where there IS a tiger mob: The Tiger Shark.
This may be a stretch, but the only way I see Klei being able to do Year of the Tiger, is to bring in the Tiger Shark. Perhaps as a perminant boss after the event, reintroduced as a Chinese new year event boss for the event, or perhaps the Tiger Shark would be a Year of the tiger exclusive, though this one seems less likely. My guess is it may be another raid boss. but that's just my opinion.
What do you think about my theory on the Tiger Shark coming to DST? Do you agree with the Tiger Shark coming back? or do you think they may do something else for year of the Tiger? if so, what do you think they'll do?
I can't help but notice that many people contribute the ocean and it's updates to Return of them, and while yes it was the introduction to seafaring, I don't see why Klei would keep ocean content updates tied to the ROT updates.
Even after return of them is finished, I believe they will continue to add things to the ocean to fill all the emptiness. I don't think it will ever be as fleshed out as Shipwrecked give how it is built, but I hope at the very least it will become much more full of life and things to do as it progresses.
