The Starver's Guide to Self-Feeding Farms
This guide is now fully up to date and, hopefully, finalized.
Guess who had a ton of free time on his hands and decided to compile a list of all the "major" crop combinations that require a grand total of zero nutrients to grow, meaning you only need to take care of tending and watering.
Note, the combinations listed here must exist within each individual soil tile for this to work; crops in one tile cannot feed crops in an adjacent tile.
But first, have a free table of farm plant stats as of the latest patch. (The wiki's page had not been properly updated when this was made, so I had to make my own table to figure things out.)
Now, on to the possible configurations of a self-feeding farm...
Type A: Three Different Crops in Equal Amounts (1:1:1 Ratio)
Note: Apparently, using the snapping till mod allows you to place the plants close enough that they all meet the family criteria, but I am not sure whether this is possible without that mod. Theoretically, it should be, but it would take some insane precision. Also, I replaced my original column design with the one proposed by @kuroite a few comments below.
This is by far the most common configuration. Unfortunately, it's also got a tiny imperfection: the 4 plants at the corner of this layout will always fail to meet the family requirement, meaning they will grow slower and will not become oversized. However, the imperfection does not scale with the size of the farm, so a 10x10 farm plot will produce a max of 900 plants, of which only 4 will be non-giant.
Combinations that can be done with this layout:
Type B: Two Crops in Equal Amounts
The minimalist of the bunch, contained entirely in a single tile, with 4 of each plant. I've arranged the plants in L shapes to ensure the family requirement is met. It goes without saying that you can copy-paste that same tile to make this farm as big or as small as you want.
Combinations that can be done with this layout:
Type C: Two Crops at a 2:1 Ratio
This one requires a 1x2 farm plot (and multiple of that, of course). The minority plants must be facing others of their kind to meet the family requirement and grow giant.
Combinations that can be done with this layout:
Type D: Three Crops at a 2:1:1 Ratio
This one is a tad more complicated than the previous three, but I figured it was worth adding just because of the amount of combinations it brings to the table.
Speaking of which, the combinations you can do with this layout:
All the above combinations in concise plain text, for those who want to Ctrl+F their way to them:
AUTUMN:
- Corn + Carrot/Pumpkin + Potato/Eggplant
- Garlic + Onion + Pepper
- Toma Root + Potato/Eggplant
- 2x Toma Root + Pepper
- 2x Carrot/Pumpkin + Garlic + Pepper
- 2x Corn + Onion + Pepper
- 2x Toma Root + Potato + Eggplant
- 2x Potato/Eggplant + Garlic + Onion
WINTER:
- Asparagus + Potato + Carrot/Pumpkin
SPRING:
- Carrot + Corn/Asparagus + Potato/Eggplant
- Dragon Fruit + Durian/Garlic + Onion/Pomegranate
- Toma Root + Potato/Eggplant
- Watermelon + Carrot
- 2x Watermelon + Pomegranate/Onion
- 2x Toma Root + Dragon Fruit
- 2x Carrot + Dragon Fruit + Durian/Garlic
- 2x Potato/Eggplant + Durian/Garlic + Onion/Pomegranate
- 2x Asparagus + Dragon Fruit + Onion/Pomegranate
- 2x Toma Root + Potato + Eggplant
SUMMER:
- Garlic + Onion/Pomegranate + Dragon Fruit/Pepper
- 2x Toma Root + Dragon Fruit/Pepper
- 2x Watermelon + Onion/Pomegranate
- 2x Corn + Dragon Fruit/Pepper + Onion/Pomegranate
But what about all these other combinations?
I had considered throwing a bunch more layouts into this guide, but all it would have achieved is create a ton of bloat. The above 4 combinations will probably cover all your farming needs anyway. And if they do not, you can find most of the more complicated combinations (that will still give you giant crops) simply by partially replacing one crop with another that has the same stats.
For example, if you got 3 carrots in your setup, you can easily replace 1 or 2 of them with a Pumpkin, provided those are in season. And just like that you have a 3:3:2:1 combination. Which is a bad example, cause I don't think it's actually possible for that to give you all giant crops. :P
That's all, folks!

Stag antlers lost!! Help??
Is there an item that you can use similar to Thulecite Medallion and the ancient key to track to Stag Antlers?
Pirate Birdcage and Mini Monument for PS4
So you can get these two skins on ps4 but you have to buy ROG and Shipwrecked on steam correct?
I really think that console players should be given these skins if they own console ROG and Shipwrecked (which I do) rather than needing to specifically buy them on steam, just doesn't make sense and is a little unfair tbh =\
I'm really tempted to buy ROG and shipwrecked on steam more or less just for the skins on console but this would be a hell of a waste.. maybe if they go on special at some point hmmm.
There is no special skin for owning Hamlet correct?
Any unknown mechanic to share?
Do you know any game mechanic that could not be very popular, you use for your advantage and could let us know?
For example: If you feed a pig x4 monster meat and kill it, you get 2x meat and 1x pig skin; two out of three ingredients to prototype hambat, also, you can repeat the process to get pig skin without destroying pig houses.
What character do you main?

The absolute worst world generation I've ever seen
The Glommer statue didn't spawn and I think the lunar islands don't exist. Since my friend tried teleporting to them both using too many items+ and it doesn't work. The biome I am standing in(On the right) is the pig king deciduous biome. And to add on to this personal hell there are only juicy berries instead of normal berries.
My idea to make Wes real "Challenge" character
Mobs killed by Wes drop more loot.
Other characters and mobs should not hit the target, only Wes should deal 100% of damage.

What is a DST confession you have?
I guess I'll have to go first, well here goes.
I don't...actually own the MacWolf costume set. But I'm working on it!
Metheus Quiz Login Error
Trying to login to the https://metheus.dontstarvetogether.com/ using my steam account session, I'm being redirected to an error page.
Just a blank page with the 'Internal Server Error' text at https://metheus.dontstarvetogether.com/login/error.
Same for the https://cyclum.dontstarvetogether.com/.
Any comments on that?

Introducing, Klei Rewards
We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.
The first version of this can be found on our accounts page here: https://accounts.klei.com/account/rewards
In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!
is wurt good?

Who would be better on a dedicated boat base/nomad world?
I was thinking a world with little mini bases scattered throughout the map without any "main" base so to speak would be fun! Which character would you guys pick and why? (Also feel free to suggest characters not on the list, like warly or maxwell)

Is Farming Overpowered now?
Now, I love what Reap what you Sow has done to the gardening in this game. Best update in a long time, and the best update for RoT hands-down.
However, after playing with the update for almost two months, I get the feeling that the crop output is too great. I have often been the benefactor of supplying an entire base of 16+ people with properly set up farms.
The only downside is that the first harvest is gonna go directly to the bird to make combo plants, but after that, good gardeners can reliably generate giant vegetables by planting combos and watering/tending to the plants 24/7. Sure, this requires one or two team members solely tunnel visioning on the plots, but that leaves the 4+ other players to not worry about food, sanity, and health. (Seriously, pumpkins and potatos are the GOAT crops, I plant them off-season because they're just that good. Corn is also a really good crop if you can mass harvest them because compost is easy to make early-game.)
Maybe I'm speaking out of my *** and don't know if I could gain this much food doing any other task or that farming is actually hard and I've been playing too much wormwood and got a doctorate in Don't Starve Together Applied Gardening and Planting, but from my experience, I feel like i've been getting TOO much food, and I see tons of forum posts on how people stop planting because they literally have too much food and run out of icebox room.
IDK, let me know what y'all think. Just remember that I will only take posts seriously if you've played more than 90,000 hours of this game.
