DST DLC expansion discussion.

Idk about you but i love SW and hamlet, while a bit rough around the edges they still give tons of hours of just pure fun. However lately i have played tons of DS and less DST, and i feel like its cause DST is less varied, being on the same island, seeing the saaame thing over and over again. and that's not to take a jab at DST cause its a great game. 

But i feel like what's missing is what DS has. No not specifically Hamlet or SW itself but something..  entirely new to DST. Variety, more worlds.

Now before I say anything, yes i know that AnR and RoT is technically "free expansions" 

 

Now i know that Klei has specified that they do not and i quote "Want to split up the fanbase with paid DLC" and for a while i could understand what they meant by this, at least in the beginning. But lately i have felt this is a huge roadblock for more content and money for Klei. 

at this point OG don't starve is done, the curtains have fallen and honestly it probably should stay that way cause its quite old by now, the coding is old (despite needing a few touch'ups wink wink nudge nudge). And all of the love goes to DST cause it gives off more value compared to DS and i understand that, but why not just add expansions Like SW or Ham to DST instead. Would it really be that big of a deal? Would you be bothered by it? I wouldn't. Klei has already given us so so much in return that i really couldn't care if i needed to give them more of my money for an expansion. Hell i already buy all of the skins as soon as they come out. 

 

Yes i knoow we're not the majority of the community on the forums and there's steam and the console players so we can't exactly get everyone's opinion about this and not everyone might like the implementation of more DLC.

And what about the fanbase situation? well, if i'mma be honest i don't really know how it would affect. In some ways we're already splitted up by other means.

No but seriously do you think it would affect the fanbase, and if so, how?

What do you think? I really want everyone's opinion about it and perhaps we can twist Klei's arm on their statement and get the likes of expansions like SW or Ham into DST in the future so they can see that we do indeed like the idea. But i mean, in the future of course, not now. they still need to finish RoT.

Disclamer: This is just a mere suggestion for the future of DST. i just think it would be much better to work on something for the sequel than the original. Of course there would be some things DST can't do like world hopping and whatnot. Don't think about the details, think of the idea.

 


Easiest Character To Survive As:

I'm asking the question what's the easiest character to survive as. NOT THE MOST OP CHARACTER! 

(IMO) I think Wigfrid is the easiest to survive as for alot of reasons. 
 

  • She gains health, and sanity from fighting. To GAIN health I normally fight spiders. Plus killing a Terrorbeak normally nets around half sanity. 
     
  • Has quite high health. (200 HP) 
     
  • Her helmets are quite nice, and cheap. Just a better football helmet.
     

For these reasons I think she is the best to survive as. I can normally survive around 60-70+ days before dying. Normally more than that.

If you are curious, I normally die to darkness. I know.... I know...... for surviving so long, it's pretty noobish'.
Quite forgetful when it comes to light sources........ SMH.....

Help for Cyclum Puzzles?

I'm very much late to the game, and everything that comes with it, and recently found out there are some fun little Easter eggs outside the game, the Cyclum and Metheus puzzles specifically. I've been trying to do said puzzles to see what the story they reveal is, but I've come to an impasse even after looking up a guide- I'm on the fifth puzzle, where you click the elements to make a kabob, but I can't get it to work. At this point I'm just being stubborn, and I just refuse to let some rudeness beat me, so does anyone have any tips on what might be going wrong that I suddenly can't do the puzzle?

I'm doing it on Firefox, in case the browser could be an issue, but it has been working so far.

Twitch level 3 drop doesn't work

There is a problem by the third Twitch drop which is a skin for icebox called "Crystaline" for watching 6 hours of Don't Starve Together streams on twitch
I did watched a stream for 6 hours but there's a problem with the drop.. I won't receive it. I even checked my Klei account on the official website of Klei but there is nothin in my transactions about this skin
Could anyone guide me through my problem?

Hello, Don't Starve gang. First of I wanted to say I really like the mechanics of the new RWYS update, and want to thank Klei for their good work. Since the combinations are abundant, and my memory is limited I decided to make a quick "giant crop reference sheet" that require 0 fertilization for everyone to use. Thanks for @Laknish docs for providing all the possible crop combinations. Also I would like to mention a great mod that helped to calculate the crops nutrients in real game time, it really saved me a lot of time without having to use commands. I hope you find that info useful.

EDIT: All these food combinations are achievable using the mod snapping tills. It's either grid 3x3 or hexagonal.

What if Maxwell's shadows drained sanity instead of resources?

For about a year I've had this idea but I want to see what you guys think. I play Maxwell a lot, probably my most played character, and he's a ton of fun right now. I think this might be a fun change but there's some people here who seem to be a lot more experienced than me and I'm particularly interested in what they think. I'm also interested in what less experienced players think of this idea, too.

Flint's not particularly hard to get, outside of public servers where people like to disconnect with a stack of it in their inventory, and Maxwell's really good at getting NMF so that cost isn't particularly high either. What if instead of needing to use tools, and possibly even removing the NMF cost as well, Maxwell could freely summon shadows from his Codex Umbra but they had a sanity drain over time and were dispelled if Maxwell reached 0 sanity? It would give more depth to Maxwell's sanity (currently only really a problem in prolonged boss fights) and allow him to be more free in his control over shadows. I constantly see people complain that their shadows automatically do things on their own and they want to be able to turn them off, they don't want to punch the shadows because of the little cost in doing so. If they drained sanity over time instead of resources they wouldn't feel bad about dismissing their shadows anymore.

Maxwell would feel less compelled to need to deforest an entire area if he wants to summon his loggers since the cost of it would be proportional to the time spent. He'd still be able to deforest an entire area, obviously, but maybe he might bring along a little bit of sanity food to do so instead of needing to craft a few axes? It would allow for a less minmaxy and more impromptu Maxwell who can at any moment do any task instead of prepping for one and doing it to the extreme.

Maybe it could even allow for a Shadow Duelist buff, making them less niche and more well-rounded. I think it would be pretty fun to have a more powerful Duelist at the cost of it having a high sanity drain, allowing you to enhance your combat capabilities at the cost of sanity and the potential of them being dismissed if your sanity runs out. Maybe they don't even need a buff, but if you were able to summon them without spending 2 nmf, some flint, some rope, and some twigs people would be more open to using them.

I never specified any numbers and kept everything vague because it's the idea that matters and the numbers and such could be tuned to whatever is balanced. What do you guys think? I think it would make him more interesting but probably not affect how strong he is. The cost isn't really too much currently and Woodie can already get infinity logs for free free, so I don't think Maxwell being able to get infinity logs/rocks/etc for a sanity cost would be busted. I'd love to hear your feedback regardless of how much you play Maxwell. I think it would make him more accessible and more fun while still mostly being the same character, but maybe I'm wrong.

Willow - DST 2021

Hi folks,

I'm a newbie at DST, and I love the Willow character (actually I haven't tried any other character besides her - as she is just the one I sort of identify with. I'd love it for her to be scientist as well, but arsonist also cuts the grade ... somehow - I guess I just try to project myself in the game for better immersivity, and Willow 'just does it'). I've watched now several 'Let's Play's' and also tried eagerly to survive ... but somehow never made it past day 14.

If you are passionate Willow players and do have some tricks and tips, please share them with me!

Shadow Creatures

So at this point it's pretty much canon that Terrorbeaks are most likely some of the more fuel-using Ancients.

But what about other shadow creatures? Wavy Johnes for example looks more like a human. 

I've made this thread to see what y'all think.

My headcanons:

Shadow Pieces are the minions of Them that were used to communicate with the material world. After all they're the ones tasked with keeping the King's mind. Plus it'd explain why did Ancients decide to built clockworks the way they are.

Shadow Watchers are Their eyes.

Eyes belong to both shadow watchers and the damned of the Constant

Make Wes More Useful

I know Wes is supposed to be the challenge character for more experienced players, but this is a Heavily Co-Op game and having dead weight on your team is just no fun. So I'd eventually like to see Wes reworked to be more useful to a team setting, he should still be a challenge to play of course, but make him a glass cannon of sorts, high risk high reward. Maybe give him something to do with distracting and something like ranged attacks like in the Forge Event. You could have the balloons draw aggro a lot better than they do right now, And perhaps give him a valuable perk that might balance out his downsides. I don't have too many ideas, but Klei are good people and have good ideas a lot of the time, so I'd like to see what they come up with.

Twitch Drops - Multiple Klei Accounts - Can We Change the Priority Somehow?

Hello

I linked my PS4 account to Klei a couple months ago, because it was bugging me that I couldn't use some of my skins. Fast forward to now, when I hardly touch the PS4 anymore, and I'm back to using my long-time Steam account as primary for DST. I realized my Twitch drops were ONLY going to PS4 and not to my Steam account. Is there a way to move these over, merge them, or change the priority altogether so it goes back to only giving drops to my Steam account while maintaining a Klei account linked to Sony?

And if not, does anyone know if there's a way Twitch will duplicate or move the drops from my Sony to my Steam account if I disconnect the former maybe?

I just wondered if anyone had any information on this like release time? Also I know this other question might be a long shot still have to ask. Also if anyone at Klei could tell me if thier will be a beefalo rework in this as well ? The reason for the second question is because i tame them all the time in most of my long term worlds. So I hope it does change to make it more acessable for other people as well. Thanks for your time.

So I was playing in this world that I created in 2019 when the Skitterquids had not yet been implemented and I noticed that they never despawn and go to that specific part of my world and then they walk around doing nothing ... is this behavior normal? can i use them in any way? I don't know them well.

I'm playing on PS4 if it makes any difference.

(sorry if there are any typos because English is not my native language)

Is Klei ok with griefing at their own servers?

So if you ever played a Klei hosted server you have encountered them, the griefers, everything from base burners to wall spawn tenacles/spiders to pick your gears, gems, mandrakes and quit and so on.
As far as I know no mechanic has been implemented to suspend that kind of behaviour.(other then comunity mods)
So feel free to express you opinion.

After years of waiting, finally the beloved Winter's Feast Lantern came back... And after seeing this chance, I thought about all the wonderful items that could also come to us. Thinking about this and the previous Valentines' event, we did receive this years heart and a previous one, if I'm not mistaken... But there's is other items!

I would just be the happiest persons if this Winter's Hat skin came back, even if it is through Klei rewards. Maybe with the year of the Beefalo event? Maybe on Valentines? I don't know, but I would love to get/buy it! 

Is there any previous item you guys would like to see again? 

Maxwell rework?

So, it's no news that Maxwell is not the best character. Besides gathering resources, he poses no danger during the fight for even with the top notch armor, he's ultimately very, very frail. I think he deserves not much a buff, but a fundamental change to the Codex Umbra.

I came with an idea on how to fix Maxwell. A set of ideas, that is. The first thing would be enhaning his gathering puppets AI to make them chop or dig ONLY when Maxwell's holding respective tool. And when the puppets would be doing so, avoiding the trees Maxwell will chop soon - so basically, choosing the farthest available tree whenever Maxwell is in a highly clustered set of trees - like every wood farm. 

The second and the most important thing are his warriors. The definition of useless - dies in a single or a few swings and deals nearly no damage. To buff them, I would suggest allowing Maxwell giving his shadows items such as better weapons or armor. These items would be lost indefinitely as the puppets die, but would never be destroyed when onnpuppets. Armor would grant only 1/3rd of its defensive power. It would be very useful if Maxwell could "feed" his puppets additional Nightmare Fuel to grant them bonus HP - 75 for each piece and 25 for each piece beyond 3rd. These fighting minions would slowly regenerste their health outside of combat.

regardless, the minions would always drop a single piece of nightmare fuel.

The last thing Maxwell would need to top the rework off are some kinds of booster shots for his sanity, allowing him to hire theoretically infinite amount of puppets - produced with some nightmare fuel, bee sting and 2 papyrus.

The idea behind this rework sprouts from my experience of 500 days of Maxwell and subsequent 1200 days of WX-78. Maxwell simply doesn't get any better than 2 free chopping guys. I think that having the possibility to sacrifice industrial amounts of nightmare fuel (every 400 HP minion with a night sword and a nightmare armor costs 18 noghtmare fuel, and 26 for each beyond the 2nd. It is a lot) for external, permanent buff such as WX's would fit extremly well with Maxwell's story and his powers. 

There may be some balance issues, but there's plenty of aspects to work around - minions HP, damage modifier, armor effectiveness, hp re-gaining, hp scaling off nightmare fuel pieces, even the cost of puppets and insanity syringe. 

given enough love, Maxwell would really become one of the most fun and rewarding characters to play. And I would love to try out such a character - high risk, high reward, versatile and very good in the late game. That's what Maxwell should be in my mind.
