Community Choice Vignette - Wigfrid - The Curtain Calls
Hey all,
Thanks for all of your nominations and votes on a vignette for Walter's short, Constant Companion. Your choice is never what I expect
In case you missed how this works, we’ll post a thread for one of the animated shorts with a link to YouTube, and you can nominate your favorite scene by posting a screenshot. Cast your vote by giving one or more of the nominated scenes an emoji response. After a week we'll tally up the results and add a Vignette based on the winning scene into a future build of the game.
Try to avoid nominating a similar scene to one that's already been posted. Also, please limit it to one nomination per person, so more people get a chance to join in. We'll remove nominations if we feel they are too similar to an existing nomination or the Vignette we already made, or in the case of shenanigans. (There were definitely shenanigans in the past. Don't nominate in-between frames please )
Up this week is Wigfrid's short. A short full of beautiful art, I'm positive we'll see some great nominations.
Our choice for the Vignette was...
Make Wes More Useful
I know Wes is supposed to be the challenge character for more experienced players, but this is a Heavily Co-Op game and having dead weight on your team is just no fun. So I'd eventually like to see Wes reworked to be more useful to a team setting, he should still be a challenge to play of course, but make him a glass cannon of sorts, high risk high reward. Maybe give him something to do with distracting and something like ranged attacks like in the Forge Event. You could have the balloons draw aggro a lot better than they do right now, And perhaps give him a valuable perk that might balance out his downsides. I don't have too many ideas, but Klei are good people and have good ideas a lot of the time, so I'd like to see what they come up with.
Dont starve together field.
dont starve together i play on ps4 and i need field to farm but me dont show field. thanks for your help in advance
Year of the Beefalo?
Could be coming next week since majority of these chinese new year events popped up in late January with the exception of YOTV which happened in February. Anyway i don't have a lot of clues as to what will be given to the boofs, perhaps another racing track like it was for the Carrats though i doubt they'd repeat the same gimmick from over a year ago. Maybe we'll get actual boof changes regarding domestication, tendencies etc. that'll stick around in the actual game and not just the event. Thoughts?
Some quality of life suggestions
I've been playing DST for while now, and trough my time playing I noticed some things that bothered me in the game. Some seem like obvious qol changes, some might only sound good for a certain group of people, and some are more like me being picky. I'm making this post hoping that i light start some good discussion about those things, and to find out people's opinions about them.
The Salt Lick
Move it to the structure tab - I never understood why its together with the tools
Make it refillable - I just think it would make it better to refill one, rather than have to keep building them all over
Change the recipe to use salt - this is just so it makes more sense with the name, although I think with how ocean content is kinda boring and the salt itself being kinda useless, this change could make it worse
Mushroom Farms
They also need a rework - I think that they are almost perfect now, i just think that having to refill them with a living log is a bit too expensive. Maybe change the resources they need as the refill, or extended the amount of harvest before they need refilling again.
More Boats
Different materials - a grass and twigs boat that has less hp, but is faster, or a shell boat that has more hp and is slower (yes, i know SW). Or maybe a crab king special boat that has gems powers.
A solo boat - Please klei, they are i SW already, just give us one of them, it'd make sailing so much better, and ocean content in general so much enjoyable. Make it so they can't fight crab king or harvest salt, whatever to balance them, but please Klei I beg you
Antlion for solo players
Make it more than just an annoyance - Yes, this is Don't Starve TOGHETER, but it's basically DS 2.0, there's a lot of solo players here. Antlion right now feels just like an annoying boss that will punish you for not killing/appeasing it. Yes, it's drops are great for two or more people, but just a noich of garbage for solo players. I would be good to have a reason to kill it other than to not have ours bases griefed.
The crafting tabs
Give us the ability to change the order of the recipes - I'm not sure how hard this would be, but if we could change the order of the recipes, it would make things a lot more convenient, aka moving the bundling wrap to the top, and putting the pretty parasol in the bottom.
Infinite lights
This has been mentioned a lot of times, but I'm here to beg Klei once again. We need a reliable source to get infinite lights for our glowcaps/ mushlights, no matter how hard it is to get them. Maybe we have to mutate the spores in the moon island, or make them a drop from the (suposed) new boss. I just don't want to have to activate winter's feast every time if i want them.
Some other stuff
- Ancient Guardian fight overhaul/fix (this is and ond topic )
- The good old infinite tamed beefalo (this is old tol)
- Seeds don't becomes rot, rather they just disappear (another old one)
- Why can't we build anything close to walls, but walls close to everything?
- Why isn't the gunpowder in the weapons tab?
- why phelgen?
Thank you if you read it all, please share your opinion, I'd like to know if those make sense or if I'm just crazy.
Wrote this on my phone, hope the formating is not bad
What if speed when carrying heavy items varies depending on character
I thought of this idea while I was carrying a marble piece as a Mighty Wolfgang at the same speed as my friend playing Wendy, and I think it would be good to have more things to offer to the team depending of which character you're playing. So I made this to give an idea of how it would be, percentages refers to speed reduction, currently is 85% for every character. What do you think?
Willow - DST 2021
Hi folks,
I'm a newbie at DST, and I love the Willow character (actually I haven't tried any other character besides her - as she is just the one I sort of identify with. I'd love it for her to be scientist as well, but arsonist also cuts the grade ... somehow - I guess I just try to project myself in the game for better immersivity, and Willow 'just does it'). I've watched now several 'Let's Play's' and also tried eagerly to survive ... but somehow never made it past day 14.
If you are passionate Willow players and do have some tricks and tips, please share them with me!
Thanks and ... keep on the Continuum!

The absolute worst world generation I've ever seen
The Glommer statue didn't spawn and I think the lunar islands don't exist. Since my friend tried teleporting to them both using too many items+ and it doesn't work. The biome I am standing in(On the right) is the pig king deciduous biome. And to add on to this personal hell there are only juicy berries instead of normal berries.
All Released Skins (as of now)
I started this thread back in 2016 as a time waster to catalogue every single skin in DST. Since then I've been revisiting this thread and adding more and more as DST's skin system grew ever bigger into the behemoth it is now. It's now 3 years later and I'm still at it!
As of March 2nd, 2019, this thread has now been added as Featured! Thanks Joe!

What is an Heirloom?
The "Heirloom" rarity skins are what any previously existing GoH/Survivor/Triumphant/Roseate skins become after the corresponding character update.
Heirloom skins do not drop and can only be obtained through trading or the steam marketplace.
Heirloom rarity skins can be unraveled for much more spool than their Elegant counterpart.

Screenshot showcase
A thread like this existed before but I'm afraid it fell deep into the archive, so here is a new one. You can post funny, odd and terrible pictures that you made while playing DST.
Here are some from my collection:
Love this one because it looks like as if the third bunny from the right (not counting the bunny behind the hut) is throwing the small bunny.
My dear Wolfgang managed to trap himself while being sane and of course I mocked him by taking a screenshot and weeks later finding myself trapped in this too while being sane.
Wigfrid is able to fish in carpet. Who would have guessed.
Oasis spawn mod
I was wondering if there's a mods/game option to force oasis lake to spawn at the middle of the biome or at least to always make oasis a big biome, sometimes my oasis is literraly only a piece of island and i like to make huge bases and since everthing on oasis don't burn that's the best place to build.
Right now i'm creating my worlds and using a mod to reveal the whole map and then i check if oasis is not a crap biome and if it's good i set my map to black again and start the game(since i forget the whole map two seconds later that's not a problem) but sometimes take me almost 15 word generations to get one good oasis and each generation takes almost 5 minutes, to generate and open the server for everyone, so there's something i could do to avoid this headache?
Cheers.
Gift Showcase/Brag Thread
Have you ever been blessed by the drop system? Have you ever started the game with the Daily Gift being an Elegant tier gift and wanted to show it off somewhere? Feel free to post it here.
I'll start first.
Return of Who, How, Why and from Where?
Basic question, we still get a big update called RoT. But who are we talking about and how they are coming, why they are coming and most importantly from where?
The only thing keep coming since update is strange creatures but all of them are old creatures (in lore) in world and new ones are "mutated" ones so that don't makes them a new creature that came from another place.
If you guys discussed this before you just can't leave link of thread and thread can be locked.
How do you go about aquiring seeds for the plants you need?
As the title says, I find it very difficult to get enough seeds for the specific plants I want. Just wondering if I'm missing out on the pro strats or something. Other than having a wicker to spam grow the plants.
Will Salt Box Shaker in encore round?
Just wounding if Salt Box Shaker will be in the 12 weeks' encore round drop?
Not quiet sure if Salt Box Shaker in belong to Crystalline Collection.
If not, will there be an encore plan for Salt Box Shaker anytime? @JoeW
The 4 most overpowered characters and how to balance them?
Greetings survivors of the constant.
DST balanced with there character reworks several characters and made them more enjoyable and more interesting.
But we have still 3 of the old overpowered and 1 new overpowered char in the game, that tower over everyone else.
Wickerbottom:
- can spawn tentacles that completly demolish Beequeen, Dragonfly, hound waves, etc.
- she has a cheaper "panflute book"
- her downsides are irelevant: she can't sleep and can't eat stale food, there are so many ways to avoid those downsides
- the rest of her books and traits are fine (now after applied horticulture abridged)
- of course her rework could bring her new interesting books with new effects that could be balanced arount crafting cost, etc.
WX 78:
- the gears buff are not the problem
- but the overload is, it lets him run 50% faster (stacks with roads, walking cane) emit a small circle of light around him (he is immune to the night) and makes him immune to freezing, all of that is extremly powerful, but would be still fine because it doesn't last that long, the problem here is Wickerbottoms lightning strike book, with this book she can just stack that overcharge effect for such a long time that it becomes broken to no end, and the book is cheap to craft
- he should be upgradable with the powers of other clockworks, rook charge, bishop range attack, floaty boaty knight boad mode, something that makes his machine side more interesting
- he should get way more damage from beeing wet
Wolfgang:
- he does the damage of 2 characters all by himself, the problem here is that every boss that gets added must be balanced around Wolfgangs damage multiplier, Toadstool has 52000 health and one reason for that is Wolfgangs strength, because every boss in the game must last long enough for the characters to remain a challange and Wolfgang sets the health bar of anything so high, that every other character suffers from that
- it became even worse since we have the character switch, everytime when I want to fight a raid boss, I switch to Wolfgang, because every fight only last half as long, that means I need way less armor, healing, weapons, ressources, it is a waste of time to fight raid bosses with any character but Wolfgang
- there has to be a solution to that, Wolfgang shouldn't be a switch to boss kill character, he should build up his strength with time, like Wilson needs time to grow his beard, WX 78 needs time to level up with gears, Wurt needs time to build her merm kingdom and when you switch to a diffrent char, Wolfgang should loose its power again, like WX 78 looses its buff from gears when he dies
- he should get stronger when he does physical labor, chopping trees, mining boulders, fighting, training, etc. so that he buffs himself like a real strong man would do, not just by eating 3 meat balls made of 9 ice and 3 monster meat
- besides of that he should have other interesting trades aswell, beside his fighting power
Wortox:
- he gets souls from killing living creatures, with souls he teleports, he heals 20 health and he can eat them for 18 hunger
- the reason why this gets so absolutely broken are bees and butterflies
- killing a butterfly grants him 1 soul that heals 20 health (+4 health of the buttyfly wing, he gets only half the effects of food) or 18 hunger (+4 hunger from the wings)
- killing 5 butterflies, one of the easiest to kill mobs in the game grants him more than 100 health or 90 hunger and only cost him 25 sanity (he loses 5 sanity by eating souls)
- can also catch butterflies, bees, etc with a bugnet and can store even more "souls" this way, this is completly insane
- little critters like bees, butterflies, mosquitos, etc.shouldn't drop souls, that would make him way more balanced
- he could still have a living rabbit, moleworm in his inventory, that he can kill for 1 soul, but you can't stack rabbits and your item slots are limited
- besides of that Wortox is actually fine, he is still very strong, but atleast you have to kill spiders for souls, they can atleast try to fight back, a butterfly can not
I am very interested in your thoughts, how would you balance those 4 characters?
Which interesting new strange powers could Wickerbottom, Wolfgang and WX78 get?
And why do you hate Wes so much? ^O^
What do you often do in the first several days of a world?
Ever since I learned how to ruins rush/lunar island rush, I pretty much exclusively do either of those at the beginning of a world just because it makes the following days much easier to endure. I'm starting to wonder if I'm in the minority here though. What do you guys usually do at in the first week or two?
