Should Klei rework the OP characters first or the useless characters first?

I recently saw a discussion (which i cant seem to find anymore) where the the question was who should get a rework next.

Most people said Wolfgang and WX which seemed a little weird to me as a Webber main, to me it seems like Webber became one of the most, if not THE most useless character in the game(after Wes) due to Wendy's update and Wurt being added to the game. I thought useless characters should be prioritized.

I saw that the crab king sail reward is only available for a limited time, but I couldn't find anything about when it ends. I'm having problems with my PC right now, so I can't log in to get it, so it would be really helpful to know if the exact dates were already released or not.

Now that we have the clean sweeper, we don't need Willow's lighter to be craftable anymore. Now can it be made unbreakable?

Show Off Your Boats!

Building a high tech boat can sometimes be difficult. And because of this, some people can be quite proud of the boats they have made!
So I decided to make this thread so people can post screenshots of their own boats for the world to see!

It can really be any boat! One's you live on, one's only for moving large amounts of items, or ones you used just to make it to lunar island!

Comes equipped with everything you need to survive. A crock pot, fire... and a lightning rod!
With a few chests for storage of tools and food as well.

So I've been enjoying boat life more and more with these updates, but I am pretty apprehensive about summer / winter on boats.  Mostly because the boat gets so cluttered with stuff that I just can't fit everything I need on it...

What are the structures you build onto your boats for dealing with winter / summer?  Do you just make a different boat for each with the structures needed for the season?

Also for anyone building boat bases, can you share your base designs?

Also any other tips for livin the boat life?  While I'm enjoying living on boats, and boating, I am probably overlooking some cool stuff, so just any general suggestions / tips are appreciated ^_^


Ocean particles based on weather

Similar to Shipwrecked. I think it would be really nice to have changes in the sea according to the weather. I made this little change in water particles and I think it would look really cool in the game.

My dear Wolfgang managed to trap himself while being sane and of course I mocked him by taking a screenshot and weeks later finding myself trapped in this too while being sane.

Wolfgang Rework Brainstorm Thread

It's not a secret that I'm a Wolfgang main since he was implemented in Don't Starve, but for the past couple years I've been using a mod I wrote that nerfed his stats and speed boost to bring him more in line with what I consider balanced survivors.  I don't think his kit has room to add fun and interesting perks unless the free stats are taken away.

So I'm starting a thread to hopefully inspire some of you to brainstorm some fun and interesting perks that he could have assuming his stats are cut down to a reasonable level.

My plan is that I'm going to propose a heavily nerfed Wolfgang as a base that we can brainstorm some fun perks to add to since just adding perks given his current mechanical strength is absurd.

To me, Wolfgang's damage while mighty is his primary advantage (especially for solo players who want to fight raid bosses) and I'm reluctant to reduce it since being good at fighting bosses has been such a core part of his identity.

What I've been playing with and have been enjoying are the following changes:

200 max hp in normal + mighty form (higher than average health but gives Wigfrid the defensive advantage)

150 max sanity with a 1.3x sanity loss modifier (down from 200 and 1.1x) - this also puts him more on par with Wigfrid and Willow's sanity

No speed boost - I expect this to be controversial but speed is notoriously difficult to balance and it means you don't have to relearn kiting patterns to play Wolfgang (or the annoyance of your speed changing during combat which can easily cause you to take extra hits).  I think it would be more fun to see his power in other areas.

I think this forms a solid base that we could add interesting perks and downsides to make playing Wolfgang more fun.

I've been playing around lately with a couple minor perks.

Ignores marble + piggyback slowdown while mighty - This is to give unloved items an extra bonus in his hands, and fits with him being strong

Can equip heavy objects on his back like a backpack and move at normal speed (can also use hand slot) while mighty - This effectively lets Wolfgang compete with Beefalo as a pack mule as with a cane he can move suspicious marble much, much faster as well as have an easier time setting up sculpture walls and decoration.  Normal Wolfgang can carry heavy items the usual way but faster (0.45x speed instead of 0.15x speed)

You might be thinking "these perks are cool but they aren't very useful" and I'd agree.  That was the point.  Wolfgang will always be valuable for his damage and I wanted him to have interesting things going on that didn't involve fighting or encroach on other characters.  That they both logically play into his "strongman" motif makes sense to me.

If we can come up with some cool ideas (within my coding abilities) I'd like to implement them so we could actually test them.

A new revolutionary winter survival method : Scorching Sunfish!

Scorching Sunfish

This lil' guy radiates heat in your inventory, keeps you warm while it's in your inventory. Or you can drop it with thermal stone to heat it up. This (and other) fish can live 1.3 days in winter at your inventory, and 2.6 days in your chef pouch or insulated pack. But most notably this guy can survive more than 5 days in Wurt's inventory (with extra 3.3 sanity per minute). If you're a Wurt main, why don't ya go fishing at summer to catch them?

(Personally I'm very glad about Klei added a brand-new thing to do at summer, more than just fishing at oasis & killing the antlion.:encouragement:)

Also ice bream can keep you chilly, but unlike winter foods spoil faster at summer- fish can survive at most nearly 3 days even in Wurt's inventory. And I usually bring the Magnificent Luxury Fan at summer, but someone can take advantage of this too!

(I don’t know if this I supposed to be in the off-topic area, please tell me if I should’ve submit this there!)

Can we just?! All the skins are just, amazing!!! I don’t know if it’s just me adoring Victorian design and architecture but....there are a lot of them that I adore. Take a look at these skins:

First off, the gentleman scientist looking fabulous as ever! I’m not really a fan of Wilson or of his skins, but this one is just amazing.

Next up is the firestarter. Not much to say, but....I adore her outfit!

Then, it’s our beloved bereaved, Wendy. Now, one of my favorite characters is Wendy (alongside with some others) and if you play with me often, you might see me use this outfit a lot in game. The entire outfit is stunning, gothic, her hairstyle is amazing, and honestly, I want an Abigail skin to match.

And lastly is my girl, Winona! Whenever I play as her, I’ll use this skin since I adore it! In the Victorian era, technology wasn’t advanced as much, and I imagine her in a workshop with her blacksmith outfit!

Console

We need to get the console version updated with fixes from to beta version so we expect this update to be available for console early next week. Of course, everything is taking a little extra time right now, so it may take longer than we think, but we'll post if we find out there has been a significant change in timing.  

Final Note

On to the next thing! Now is a good time to mention that we are currently in the middle of evaluating our schedule. We're definitely beginning to see issues creep in from our current situation working from home. We're looking to shift things around a bit so we can still have something for you every month but the next update will likely be smaller as we work on the larger stuff like the next new character and the next Return of Them update. When we have more information on that, we'll let you know.

  • The Crabby Hermit and Crabking are retrofitted into existing world.
  • The player can now board boats while mounted.
  • The player can now board boats while lifting a heavy object.
  • The distance you can jump to embark and disembark has been adjusted and is now based on how fast your character is moving.
  • Irreplaceable inventory items no longer slip out of your inventory when drowning in the ocean
  • Creatures that follow you onto a boat will now wash ashore (instead of die) when the boats sinks
  • Changed the ingredients required to craft the Tackle Receptacle.
  • Boat Patch also repairs boat damage
  • Added Clean Sweeper for changing item skins.

Come on Kiel don't do this to people that like Wes, he's been banned from Multiplayer because nobody wants a hard character because they think hard = a burden. If you have no ideas on an update I do. Not all of these will probably work but this is just some ideas to use. Don't let us Wes lovers down Kiel!

Baloonomacy

Well, it's supposed to be his main talent. But all he can for with his pile of balloons is to make decorative balloons by giving 5 sanity. Works for quick insanity, suicides and AFK assassinations but not much else, certainly not much to support the other survivors. Instead, his balloon talents can be reworked extensively. His pile of balloons should also act as a crafting station like Codex Umbra when placed on the ground for Wes to make various balloons with varying utilities. He'd require varying amounts of sanity, as well as different items around the constant to craft these.

Balloon Saddle - A saddle that can be shaken off only once but allows Wes to rush beefalo domestication.

Balloon Hat - Helmet that can only block one hit but prevents damage, knock back the player and give minimal damage when popped.

Balloon Cake - Tribute item that grants maximum companionship when gifted to befriendable mobs.

Balloon Sword - Weak but cheap weapon that pops and makes the cracking effect that de-aggroes mobs when depleted.

Balloon Armchair - Comfy balloon armchair with multiple uses that like a tent, slowly heals sanity when sat on.

Balloon Pillow - Sleeping item that can be used as an alternative to straw roll. It can be placed on the balloon armchair to upgrade it to heal too. 

Balloon Animal - Cute Balloon decoy animal that draws aggro very successfully, popping and damaging the attacker when hit.

Inflatable Tube - Small doughnut-shaped lifesaver that can be placed on the sea to be sat on. Could pop after one use but would last long enough to allow passing rivers and lakes.

A plethora of Balloons - The idea Mike suggested, making a holdable chunk of many balloons that acts like a lazy explorer, letting Wes glide across gaps. Could only have the durability of 1-3 uses and require a lot of sanity to build.

Pantomime

Another apparent talent of Wes that he only uses to communicate and examine stuff. Instead, his pantomime talent can be reworked into a substitute for basic tools, which could allow him to Chop, Mine, Shovel and Row without the relevant items. This could use up his sanity or hunger in each use, but would be nice giving him access to the powers of tools when he lacks to tools.

Ventriloquism

Wes can't talk but it doesn't mean he can't train his Ventriloquism skills. It's okay that he's mute when it comes to chatting and vocal warnings but it can get on the way of using basic multiplayer features like reading signs and reciting the weight of fish, making it more of an annoyance than an intended downside. Instead, he can craft a survival item, a puppet to be able to interact with and read signposts, pocket scales, scale-o-matic and various other structures.

Daredevil

His stunt work could also be capitalized on. I envision a unique structure of stunt cannonball that can shoot players across some distance quickly, possibly allowing them passage oversea. It could also be used by Wes only to shoot himself on a selected target enemy to hurt him significantly, as long as he's wearing a helmet, making a hilarious entrance. Just imagine a group of players fighting Deerclops and Wes suddenly shooting himself onto Clops, headbutting him and hitting him with 150 damage and landing in a similar fashion as if thrown from a beefalo.

Acrobat

Unicycle and tight rope come to my mind but I don't know how to conceptualize these in a not too OP and not too complex manner. Still I'd like a Unicycle that can only be crafted and used by him that'd allow him faster travel for a very brief time.

Juggler

Could be an interesting and unique way of inventory management, giving Wes a Juggling Kit item similar to Gifting Wrap or Bundling Wrap that can take up to 5 items but instead of packing them, Wes'd bundle the inventory items in balls and start juggling them, using up his hand slot and only allowing him to walk and pick up more items. He'd drop all the balls when interrupted by a hit or when stopped willingly, with fallen balls immediately returning back to their original forms upon hitting the ground. This could be used in conjunction with the Unicycle or When riding a Beefalo for delivery purposes

Clown

Various clown tools could be added to his arsenal. One such tool could be something similar to the Year of the Pig King signpost that could flinch or throw enemies. Another could be a fake flower hand item or a whole body slot with a flower that he can squirt water onto enemies with, getting them wet and assisting the team with Electric damage. Finally a fake pie item he can craft to throw into enemies to stun them for a second could be fun.

Calligraphy

Not much going on for this ability but he could have an extra craft near Cartography desk like "Name Plaque" or "Caricature" that he can give to other players who can read them and gain sanity like blueprints. Who knows, maybe he could be a great writer/caricaturist/calligrapher behind his mute façade.

Animal Taming

We don't have any character specialized in animal domestication, taming, herding and ranching and I don't see Wes particularly good at this. I'd like the unimplemented Winnie character or even the Inkeeper to be designed extensively around this trait but I guess Wes could be given some animal friendhip perks too. Immediate access to saddle a balloon saddle is something I really like as mentioned in baloonomacy but he could also be good at luring or herding other mobs like Volt Goats, Koelephants, Grass Geckos, Hounds etc. I don't know how this would be implemented but Animal tamers too are a staple of circuses.

New guy , wortox and got a problem with ps4

Sorry for the title, but i don't really know how to adress my problem (weirdest one in 2020). So i play this game on ps4 and pc (and i'm a beginer to be honest). i dont play online games - just local ones. Today i decided to buy new character (wortox) on ps4 - bought 26k game currency, spent 7k. And what did i got? nothing, but a problem. Why? cause i play with my gf on split screen and i didnt realise that any additional character is blocked in that version. So what can i do now? claim a refund? is there an option to somehow transfer this ingame currency between ps4 account and e.g. steam account? And even if there is - would i be able to play wortox in local -pc - game? Or maybe there is some smart option to play wortox on split screen on ps4 that i dont know about. Second account on ps4 is just for co-op games, no additional emaill, no ps4 plus . I could even handle an option to spent addditional 7k to unclock it again on that second account, but im afraid that it would not work. Especialy that i dont own second dst copy

Cannot get Twitch drop in game

Hello,

I watch stream Dont Starve Together on twitch, I see the popup that i got a drop it is in my twitch inventory. my account twitch is linked to Klei.
But when I launch the game Dont Starve Together I receive nothing.

I use Steam to launch the game do I need to do something else or anybody have an idea ?

How to enable drops on my twitch stream?

Can drops be enabled for every stream? Or is it just certain broadcasters? I've been streaming (and plan on continuing to) stream Don't Starve for a bit lately and wan't to enable drops for my viewers.
