Know Your Anenemy (Now with video yay I guess)

So, have you guys found any interesting uses for the Anenemy? Sure, you can use it as you would use a tooth trap or a bramble husk, but, at least for me, it's not worth the annoyance of having to run around it or having to kite it to get the loot.

Here's some info about the Anenemy:
- Deals 60 damage with a cooldown of 1 minute. (That's 480 per day each)
- You can realocate them with a shovel after triggering it.
- Cannot hit flying mobs such as bats (unless they are sleeping) or the dragonfly.
- Has AOE damage (cannot hit walls, which is great).
- Takes a while to deal damage after being triggered, making some mobs (such as hounds) able to get past without taking damage depending on the angle.
Does damage even when unloaded, as long as there's a mob standing over it.

With that info I was able to come up with two uses for it:
A lazy way to gather goat milk

As you can see on the picture, there's two enclosed spots. One of the enclosed areas has the goats and the other is connected to a corridor that has eleven anenemies (enough to leave the goat low enough to die to a morning star hit). To use this you have to separate one goat from the herd, aggro it using something like an ice staff to bait it through the corridor and then give it a last hit using a morning star. (PS: Make sure to place the anenemies before the walls, I'm sure you know how the hitboxes can be a bit janky)

aaand... Another way to cheese the ancient guardian! (as if we didn't had enough of those)

If you place an anenemy under the guardian, after leaving the area it will kill the guardian in twenty-one days (obviously less if you manage to squish another one there), which is one day more than the time that it takes to recharge the atrium portal (I think it's pretty great considering you don't have to take any risks, such as losing the horn to the void). To do this you have to make it charge against you, then bait it far away enough to make it come back, record the spot in where it will stand after losing aggro on you, make it leave the spot where you want to put the anenemy and put it there, and then, finally, bait it again the same way you did to make it go back to where you put the anenemy. Sounds kinda complicated but after doing it the first time you'll see it's not (I can make a video on it if someone got confused or something).

I also tried:
> Placing one anenemy in each of the spots the mobs of the ruins would respawn after resetting the ruins, but they force dig it after respawning (kinda sad but fair). - Thanks to @Electroely info and @Bird Up picture now we know that this is possible and how to do it. Thanks guys!
> Using it to get rid of bats using a pig skin as bait, but the flying hitbox remains the same even during the "going down to eat" animation (which is a bit lame).

Looking for something to put your survival skills to the test, rather than just your building talents or boss memorizations? Maybe you've finished exploring all of the added content? Maybe you're playing alone and want to push your own limits, or else you want to see who's the best survivalist of a group? If any of this sounds familiar, here's the game mode for you!

To begin, you'll need to configure (Host) a new world with the following settings (tl;dr: most settings set to Less):

Mods required (and their configs):

  1. No Ice As Filler - No more (nearly) free winter meatballs.
  2. Recipe Rebalancer (or else if you prefer, Recipe Balancer Overhaul) - Tweaks crockpot recipe values, in particular nerfs meatballs. Fishsticks and Pierogis have reduced healing, also.
  3. Survivalism - Assorted difficulty tweaks. You'll need to modify the config to enable these two settings:
    1. Fatigue: true - When certain stats are below 20% speed will become sluggish.

  4. Smarter Crock Pot - Takes all the magic and wonder out of blinding throwing away ingredients guessing at recipes without a wiki, an open spreadsheet, or else a million hours to expend at trial and error.
  5. Wormhole Icons [Fixed] - Labels matched wormhole sets by color. There may be other (better) mods for this function, but I haven't researched them fully.

 

Brutal Mode

Does this still seem too soft? The following settings tweak will force you to plunge into the deep dark earth to fight cave spiders for your silk. No cheap and easy spider nest grinding to your heart's content. Note: Webber may negate this; recommend avoiding him, or else just his spider nests.

To celebrate one of our most beloved times of the year,we came to tell you guys about the new update !!!
The new update will be live on 31 of December,we had a little problem with the gameplay and balancing but now it’s all right !!!
Winter’s Feast will be delayed to January 10 until February 1 due to rearrange in the schedule.
And Year of the Carrat is going live mid June.

Major Changes includes :
•Wes was removed from the game.
•Pumpkins now have the same effect as mandrake soup.
•Webber is confirmed to be a 9 year old.
•Wortox is getting a Maxwell skin.
•Darkness now kills everyone instantly.
•Wigfrid can eat non-meat itens.

Anything planned with the Achievement ? [ + Complete the list ]

It's been a while I've spotted those in the game files but I was thinking they'll be a coming up feature with time... and now, years have passed but the achievements are still hidden with no impact for players and I now ask myself what are they here for ?

 

You may also wonder what I am talking about, so I guess an example could introduce you to the achievements :

As you see, it is granted only if a Treeguard is calmed with the pinecone to the one that planted it.

There is also "ranged" achievements, that can be attributed to multiple players in the area, such as this one when you kill the Bearger :

Funny thing is that this is still updated since last year at least, like, the "pacify_forest" achievement is even awarded when you plant a Totally Normal Sapling with the potion of the Mad Scientist Lab.

 

So, Klei, is there any hope you do something from all that interesting stuff or will it be only script sided ?

 

Also, what about you guys ? Would you like to have them in the game and do you have any original concept ?

 

My opinion is that they deserve a place in the game ! The only regret is that they aren't server sided so you will unlock them only one time and not on every world you play on, according to "trade_inn" at least. But this might be a fair addition to the game for guiding new players, these achievements can be helpful to find out some things that don't come to your mind immediately.

Also, I believe the current list is pretty quick to complete for any experimented player in 1 - 2 years, the hardest one seems to be the last, and keep in mind that you will need to do it with other players for some of them, which is fair for a multiplayer game.

 

 

And if you want, I'd like that we try to  e x p a n d  it a bit, so if you have good ideas you can tell me about it.

The swamp

Is it just me or is the swamp a little lack luster like sure theirs tentacles and reeds but that's about it maybe mosquito but other than that you just avoid it.just come at day grab reeds and leave and never see a use for it until a wicker comes I just hope that with the new character their is stuff worth while in a swamp(kinda like with warly they added foods).to prove my point I oy went to swamp once in my world and never went back I stopped at around day 220 cus boerdness.but if anyone feels different then good for you lemme see it.

Post your "ideas/changes" down below, I'm really interested what a game would look like if everything everyone wanted was added in. As for myself I guess I would add the option for different server playstyles enabling certain "smaller" crafting recipes such as war-related defenses for madness and so on. 

(Bonus points for anyone that describes what would happen if a newbie went through your ideas.)

Just thought I'd ask, would there be any QoL tweaks from mods you'd want in the vanilla game? If so what would you want?
For me it would be mainly Quick Drop and Less Placement Blocking(If only just the part where birds and seeds don't block placement.)

This is only the little QoL tweaks, theres no content/character/other mods here.

So... if a Horror hound comes from a recently deceased hound brought back to life, and we can probably assume that the moonrock pengulls have the same backstory since the pengulls would probably very well not survive a sudden change in their body that the mutation causes, Does that mean the fact that the deep depths of the constant's ocean are filled with dead or starved pengulls that ressurect on the lunar island giving a reason why there extremely hostile the moment they spawn?20191018_141252.jpg.2ed2249ca3b506a6409c4d27b54aaac1.jpg

Showcase for tidy bases [3]

Since the previous threads got archived, and there haven't been any threads like these for a time, I decided to make a new one because I feel that in the coming days and the new updates we may see more innovative and nice base designs (like seabases for example) and I also feel that the previous threads have lots of good base/megabase/world designs we can all appreciate. Original idea of course goes to the wonderful @disies.

My bases aren't so tidy as of now, but here's the general idea:

what is a stupidly small nitpick you have in regards to your main?

i'll keep it simple and to the point. an incredibly small nitpick you have in relation to your main. it could be a bug that's easily avoidable, a hate for a specific skin and why,   etc. and etc. really just something you don't like, but you wouldn't get too upset if it  always stayed the same. here's an example.

I really wish i didn't. i really wish i could embrace it, but i can't. let's talk about  Wes' character portrait.

1. there's a layering issue that makes him look blonde
2. the hair swirl worked in the Wortox short, but it just, doesn't. here.
3. that arm is so anatomically incorrect. i can't pass it as stylized. it's too high up.
4. i don't know what it is, but his ears look  off. maybe it's how they line up with his hair.
5. i'm pretty sure he stole this umbrella, because we never see it ever again. 
6. his head shape is slightly too round compared to his in-game proportions. 

this, ladies, gents, and all others, is the breakdown of a slightly uncanny image. thank you.

Twitch drop trouble

My twitch drops, for this specific drop, has not been working, all my accounts steam, twitch and klei accounts are all properly linked. Every twitch drop has worked for me up until this point, i probably have over 2 hours on twitch and have not received anything. I tried switching from the beta to the base game but nothing is working.

Hello! 

I was going to trying and help someone complete the Metheus Puzzle but the page isn't loading for me anymore. It's just a blank white screen. I've already completed the puzzle, just finished it a couple of hours ago actually, and the page was working just fine before. 

I've tried clearing my cookies and cache, switching to different web browsers, and even restarting my computer, but to no avail. 

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hallowed Nights and Wurt available October 24th! (And more!)

Hey everybody, 

Hallowed Nights will return October 24th! For the most part, Hallowed Nights will remain the same as last year but we threw in a couple new tricks and treats for you. The team is really focused on Return of Them content right now, and will be taking a short break from RoT after the next release as we prepare for Winter's Feast!

Next Thursday will also see the introduction of a brand new character DLC. Wurt is a curious young Merm trying to expand her horizons… as long as those horizons don’t extend into Pig territory. 

  • Wurt can spot where danger is hiding in the swamp
  • Wurt can craft the Royal Tapestry and make a home for the Merm King and his Guards:
    • The Royal Tapestry requires materials from all over The Constant
    • The Merm King provides all Merms extra strength to fight
    • Wurt must feed the Merm King to prevent him from starving
  • Wurt can craft Merm Houses and Merm Flort-ifications
  • She moves faster while on the swamp and can craft tiles to expand her turf
  • Wurt is a vegetarian with a particular appreciation for Durians
  • Wurt can craft a Clever Disguise to get other survivors to blend in with her swamp friends
  • Likes to keep Pet Fish in her inventory
  • Strongly dislikes Pigs
  • Being wet does not affect her strong grip

Wurt will be unlocked in the following ways:

  • Wurt will be available for purchase for $5.99, in the Wurt Chest. Wurt’s Guest of Honor skin set is included in this chest for free.
  • The Wurt Deluxe Chest is $9.99 and includes the Guest of Honor, Triumphant and Abyssal skin sets.
  • Wurt is part of the new "Starter Pack" that can now be purchased with a New Megapack Bundle. Current Megapack Bundle owners will be able to upgrade for $6.99. The starter pack includes Wurt, 4 Classic Characters Skins, a new spear skin, hound backpack and Green Pajamas and Bedroll.  
  • You can weave Wurt for 2700 spool.

We also have some new skins that have been added to the Hallowed Nights collection and we will also be increasing the drop rarity for skins during Hallowed Nights.

Finally, we will be adding a Loyal login bonus item for all players during the event as well as new Twitch drops! We expect this release to hit on the 24th for both PC and console.

The next Return of Them beta update "Hook, Line and Inker" should release early November. But as always, that is an estimate and things could change, expect more details about a week before release. 

Of course, we will also have a new spooky edition animated short for you all, and I think the team really outdid themselves on this one. We can't wait for you all to check it out.

Introducing, Klei Rewards

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!

Now, as you all know, yesterday came the queen of the merms, the empress of the fishmen, the god of the swamp... Wurt.

 

We then analyze her ability, taking directly what the good JoeW wrote to us:

  • Wurt can spot where danger is hiding in the swamp
  • Wurt can craft the Royal Tapestry and make a home for the Merm King and his Guards:
    • The Royal Tapestry requires materials from all over The Constant
    • The Merm King provides all Merms extra strength to fight
    • Wurt must feed the Merm King to prevent him from starving
  • Wurt can craft Merm Houses and Merm Flort-ifications
  • She moves faster while on the swamp and can craft tiles to expand her turf
  • Wurt is a vegetarian with a particular appreciation for Durians
  • Wurt can craft a Clever Disguise to get other survivors to blend in with her swamp friends
  • Likes to keep Pet Fish in her inventory
  • Strongly dislikes Pigs
  • Being wet does not affect her strong grip

Many interesting things, of course, the enhanced merms, cool, steady hands when wet, great,... but... did you notice the "bomb" power? There, put together with the others as an ordinary thing, as if to hide it:

Character's cinematics (Webber)

So Woodie's cinematic was a big Canadian joke, which is best described with a comment I've found under that video: 'Where's the animation? All I saw was an average Canadian trying to chop down a tree'.

But future characters' cinematics hopefully won't be like that.

Which brings me to this question:

How will Webber's cinematic be handeled?

From his quotes it's heavily implied that he ended up in Constant because Maxwell promised to turn him back into human. Which means that he got eaten by a spider in the real world. Which brings a question of how did a dst spider end up in the real world?

Not to mention that the whole idea of Webber being eaten by a spider and then living inside it is absurd. For the longest time my headcanon was that he got eaten by a Spider Queen. And since Spider Queen turns food into spiders and she didin't digest Webber he got turned into what he is today. 

What I'm trying to say is: what will Webber's cinematic show us? Pre-Spider Webber? Webber having flashbacks from his normal life? Webber being eaten by a spider?

It better doesn't end up being a Woodie's cinematic where we'd see post-rework Webber fighting a boss or something like that.

What i want to see is the costume collection, i want the Webilisk skin so bad... What i mean with this, is the Costume skins can be weaved and everything, they are my favorite skins tbh, so what you guys want to see on this hallowed nights?
