Please Address Moon Glass Farming

Two days before beta went live, they changed how Bath Bomb farming for Hot Springs worked.

What you used to be able to do was spam a single Hot Spring with Bath Bombs to get a decent amount of Moon Glass, like this:

That was removed from the game and instead you need to do this:

After you've mined the Glass Pillar from the Hot Spring, you need to wait till a Moon Phase change occurs for it to refills (so a few days, depending on when you mined it). Except that doesn't really matter too much since the Hot Spring converts into Moon Pillars every 20 days when the Full Moon occurs, so it's really a 20 day delay to your farming sessions. 

Except the main problem is that the amount of Hot Springs in a world varies and is not enough. I've seen anywhere from five to fifteen Hot Springs, which means 25 - 75 Moon Shards every 20 days. Turning them all into Moon Tools would be 8 - 25 Moon Axes or 4 - 12 Moon Cutters respectively. For some comparison, you could farm 200 Moon Shards in a night if it was a long, Winter night via 60 Bath Bombs (that's 360 Lune Blossoms, which involved a lot of Moon Tree chopping and planting).

That's nowhere near enough to last 20 days due to the the low durability to the Glass Tools, especially if you have more than one person using them or a small number of Hot Springs in a world.

I don't think people thought very highly of them in the first place (particularly towards the Glass Cutter, though Moon Glass is nice), so drastically lowering the rates at which you can acquire Moon Glass doesn't make sense to me.

Massive moon glass farming was more of a mid-late game thing for when you ran out of Moon Glass. Chopping Moon Trees, catching Moon Moths and planting them for new Moon Trees was a hassle in the first place. They now feel more like a super niche tool in comparison to the slightly niche (yet nice) use they were before. (I didn't even talk about using them for Statues or making Moon Turf).

TLDR;

Please address Moon Glass farming. It's unnecessary for something that has such low durability and was a mid-late game thing anyways (imo).

Can we please get Tam O Shanter reskins? (Mactusk hat reskins)

Since this is the best hat in the game its a little weird that we still have no reskins for it and it doesn't really suit everyones style considering its specific design.

 

It would be easy to make this happen,

you can just make it so that once you would receive the default hat, you would just use it as an ingredient for crafting the reskinned version in the hat crafting tab and BOOM you have yourself a customized best hat in the game that fits your style.

What is this all about ?

- Uncompromising Mode will be a bit more than a simple mod collab, since everyone can be part of it. (Also started by Canis and me)

- You can see most of the informations on the server at the #where_am_i channel, but here is what you need to know :

  1. We have a "Fresh to Hot" system : You must start a new concept from the #mod_scrap channel and wait for feedbacks, corrections or improvements of your idea, everyone can help by submitting or reacting more stuff.
  2. Since we use the Klei's Forum emotes too, you can show your impressions over what is in #mod_scrap, if something have mostly positive results, you should rewrite it with a detailed version of your idea in #mod_submissions.
  3. We read all the submissions, and if you have been approved from the scrap, there is lot of chance we place it in a poll.
  4. The #mod_polls channel is the last step, the final vote and if your result are positive here, you're in. We will recreate your concept as original as we can from the details you give. And there you are, you improved the game experience.
  5. Everything that is added from your ideas will be compiled at the #mod_updates channel every week or so.

- The mod will be updated monthly (or so, once again) depending of the quantity and kind of submitted ideas, every features can be enabled/disabled from configurations : This have to be a uncompromising experience.

What kind of content ?

Just like before, #where_am_i channel is your friend ! But we're looking for everything, mostly what can make the game entertaining for a longer time and fix what the game is lacking on, so if it is mobs, biomes, events, minigames, bosses, equipements, ressources, weathers, effects, game modes...

anything, go for it !

The only avoided stuff is characters and tweaking what already exist in statistics, since there is mostly all what you can looks for on the workshop.

Using multiple characters in a solo game

Hi, I play actually on solo with WX. Im on day 1250 and I wonder what can I bring from the others, and then come back and be able to use everything even if I dont own the craft possibility. 

So Im thinking on catapults, I already been Warly, and I'll do it again, Wigfried's helmet.... But theres maybe more.

Could you please help me to find out any good things I could bring ? I take every idea, I have a lot of ressources or I will, and I'll be glad to change character for a while. Thanks !

[Discussion] Add more Antlions

No, not literally. 

After reading a couple of threads, I saw that a big problem people had with DST was how eventually you could just lounge around after a certain period of building since nothing would ever force you to go out and fight the bosses. And since you had all the high end gear, the seasons wouldn't be a problem either. Even hound attacks would become trivial, as you could just retreat to a bundle of tooth traps. Some have had the idea of making tooth traps flammable to prevent this, but all it'd really do was require a couple flingos around your pen. So in the end, there's really nothing stopping you from lounging in your base forever.

Except Antlion.

Antlion is a fantastic little thing that requires players, even those in separate bases, to work together to stop everybody from suffering the consequences. To avoid the destruction of the sinkholes, players must send out parties to go out and feed or kill the antlion to calm her rage.

In the end, I think it's a great way to have something unavoidable that players can work together to fix. I think the game could benefit from more of these. It'd be a nice way to get people to get out of the house and into the ocean with the new updates, after all.

 

What are your thoughts? Have any ideas for stuff that could be implemented like this? Am I crazy for thinking the Antlion is good?

I think AI in DST need a remwork

The AI that is now in play is sufficient, but very primitive and very easy to play. I think if some mobs in DST get AI remwork, the game will be harder to play, but not in that boring style. It might not be a big change, but at least something would be useful. Certainly, it would be useful if mobs recognized obstacles and avoided them or something like that. I know it's hard to do but it's just my idea for some future updates.

Secret Character

I just looking for mods and I saw this detail on mod page. There is wilson and some characters walking in the forest. I looked carefully and I saw a thing. There is characters list from left to right in image.
WX>WIGFRID>WICKERBOTTOM>WILLOW>WEBBER>WILSON>WOODIE>WOLFGANG>"SECRET PERSON">WES

Maxwell and wendy wasn't at the picture. First I thinked this secret person would be Wendy bc. this person have long hairs. (Warly, woodie, winona and woodworm added game later and they are not main characters.).

But this person is not wendy. You can see her shadow in this image. Her hair attached at back and there is huge flower on her head's lefts. Also we can see the ears too.

If we look other characters too we can see Wheeler's hair look likes "a bit" to this person's hair. But the haircut of Wheeler look like "V" word but this person's hair look like "∩" so it's not same haircut. Also the shoulder of this person is higher than Wheeler's arms is bigger... Wheeler wearing pant but this person look like wearing robe or skirt.

And the other characters shadows here. None of them look like this person. I hope someone solve this mystery...

Cookie Cutters and Pumpkin Cookies

Am I the only one who thinks its weird that the Cookie Cutters have absolutely no interaction with Pumpkin Cookies? I know pumpkin cookies are a niche and rarely made item, but it seems kinda odd that the only two things in the game that have "cookie" in their name have nothing to do with each other.

I know people want to see Verdant and Snowfallen get completed, once the character updates are done, I'd love to see all the sets get a chance to shine maybe in 2021 or so. Imagine Oasis bound being Islamic and desert themed, Wormwood's Verdant would show a older and aged wormwood, we can see the lore of Voxola explored in the Industrious, sailing outfits for the cast with the trawler, and have some more horror movie parodies with the second Halloween costume set.

 

Not right now but I'd love to see skin sets get completed in the future once ALL the characters are implemented and no player feels left behind outfit wise.

Walani in DST

Here are some ideas for Walani in DST, because she'd be perfect for the new RoT content, and she objectively has the most likable personality /s

* Loves surfing

Walani has more crafting recipes available in the Think Tank.

Surfboard
- 1 board, 2 flint
- Requires a Science Machine.
- Has 150 durability and lasts 3 days.
- Is as fast as a player on land.

Driftwood Surfboard
- 2 driftwood, 2 flint
- Requires an Alchemy Engine.
- Has 100 durability and lasts 2 days.
- Is 200% faster than a Surfboard.

Sea Queen's Surfboard
-  4 driftwood, 6 gold, 2 living logs
- Requires a Shadow Manipulator.
- Has 300 durability and lasts 6 days.
- is 300% faster than a Surfboard.

Surfboard Repair Kit
- 1 boards, 2 stingers, 2 bull kelp
- Repairs surfboards for 100 durability.
- Has 3 uses.


Only Walani players can use surfboards. (Other characters will say that they don't know how to surf.)
Surfboards work like Shipwrecked; Only one player can use it, no rowing needed, doesn't lose durability when it hits land.

In addition, waves now spawn in the ocean and function like they do in SW. They wont do damage to a regular boat (At worst, just get a player wet if they're standing on the edge of the boat), but it damages surfboards when you surf against it.

She'd also still dry off at a faster rate than other characters.

*Is a pretty chill gal.

Sanity auras, both positive and negative, are only 50% effective to Walani.
Instant sanity modifiers (ex: green caps, cooked cacti) are 66% effective.

----------------------

* Is lazy when sane.

When above 80% sanity, Walani slows down in multiple aspects.
-95% movement speed.
-20% longer swing speed.
-100% longer crafting / picking time.
-Hunger drain is reduced to 90%.


When below 80% sanity, Walani's hunger drain increases to 120%.

I am well aware that there isn't a decent upside that she can utilize all game. With these changes, she'd just be a lazy Wilson with more effective sanity, unless she is near water. So instead of taking this at face value and assume that I want *THIS* as the character, build off of it and suggest ideas for Walani.

Also, note that her perks could get very fleshed out once RoT is "completed" but only Klei knows what they're going to do with it.

 

Would Wagstaff be like John Galt?

I was looking up the connection between John Galt and Bioshock since I'm reading Atlas Shrugged and found a paragraph in this article interesting:

Although not revealed until the last third of the text, John Galt is an inventor and philosopher, who has become frustrated with the oppressive bureaucracies and socialist ideals that he feels have run ramped. Therefore, he encourages society’s leading industrialists to go on strike and retreat with him to Galt’s Gulch, where they can escape the overregulation that prevents the individual from reaching their full potential.

With Wagstaff's comments on the technology of the Constant, it sounds like Wagstaff is going down the path of Galt to become a superior industrialist. Even if it means trouble for others down that path.

I don't like to create new topics, but I'm interested in what would Wagstaff be like in DST.(If this character will add to the game).In my opinion, this inventor should rightfully be in the DST or he will play a different role, so he will not appear in the DST. Which way is the story taking?

I am really interested in the story yet it's very complicated if you put events and RoT into the perspective. what the heck is happening right now

I think that Wilson and survivors ( Including Wortox considering his quotes ) are currently in the Gateway Realms since there was not a proper ''ending'' to the Event arc and that the RoT arc happens after said ending.

For example currently Woodie and Maxwell call the Winter's feast- event ornaments familiar instead of remembering the Events.

What if we had more control over the environment?

What do I mean by that? Well first of all it'd be a thing that's available only in endgame, so yeah I don't want to see no 'It'd be too broken, imagine the farming potential' arguments. It's endgame and you don't need to farm anything extra. 

What I'm talking about is the ability to place down things like hound mounds, hollow stumps, spiky trees, boulders, merm huts, slurtle mounds, monkey pods etc.

That way people that like building megabases could create some interesting new biomes. Like rock biome filled with slurtles or a species of monkeys living among spiky trees.

You'd be able to do that thanks to a new crafting station which you'd aquire after defeating the final boss that RoT will have to offer

My Theory for DST

I have a Theory the Constant is a endless cycle of Purgatory that was opened up by William making him represent death (Maxwell) And Charlie as the aftermath/afterlife. Each character was brought into the constant because of their unfinished business in their life causing Maxwell to make them a deal to bring them to purgatory. And each character has a different death at a different time.

Wilson: Died during the aftermath of the earthquake by his potion melting his face off. Willow: Played with Fire and met her demise that’s why she doesn’t die when getting inside fire because that’s how she died. Wolfgang: Died due to possibly using things to make his body stronger or possibly led poison. Wendy: Possibly jumping off something or doing bad things with a rope. Abigail: Murdered Possibly. WX-78: He was made by either Wagstaff or Wilson Wickerbottom: old age Woodie: Either rope stuff or a tree accident. Thus making it why he loses sanity faster near treegaurds? Lucy: Illness or something else. Wes: Died durning some time in the 1666s as a little chimney sweeper boy (as shown on his Victorian skin this makes his death because of lung cancer) but if your picky clowns died from led in there face paint long ago. Maxwell: Crushed in the Earthquake rubble Charlie: Crushed as well Wigfrid: Possibly died doing something stupid with real weapons. Webber: I think he died by being head butted in the chest by a goat. And in the Purgatory world he was eaten by a spider. Winona: Died in the workplace as the building exploded on her. Warly: Possibly food poisoning?? Wortox and Wormwood were both created in the world so they didn’t die. But Wortox is an imp (Hell) and Wormwood is a plant (nature/heaven?)

Leather Suit: a poll

Considering last changes occurring in the Constant and most probably new challenges coming soon, maybe it's high time we have some new battle gear for our characters as well: behold the Leather Suit, a middle ground between Log and Marble Suits, to compliment the Ham Bat and Football Helmet combo.

This torso armor is made based on the antique medieval leather armors, with the purpose of protecting its user(s) from some of the damage early-to-mid combat scenarios might usually present, in a middle-of-the-road cost fashion: 2x Pig Skin, 3x Rope, 4x Flint.

The need for "4x Flint" on this armor also encourages players to spread the usage of Flint in mid-to-late game, when it tends to over-accumulate. Also keeps relevant a more complete set based on Pig Skin alone for those people not into Thule or Shadow armors for whatever reasons.

As mentioned, in regard to "Thulecite Crown, Suit & Club" set, Leather Suit would be a good addition to the Football Helmet and Ham Bat combo. And of course, brings future possibilities for new re-skins.
