COME HERE FOR EXPLANATION OF PUZZLE (Updated)

$

0

HERE IS MY EXPLANATION. I will try to make this as clear as I possibly can.

Before you even attempt this puzzle, you must first complete the Cyclum puzzle. The Cyclum puzzle was the last puzzle Klei gave us, and it introduced A New Reign. Complete it to get a tragic torch, which will light up the first part of this new puzzle.

The link to the puzzle is here: http://cyclum.dontstarvetogether.com/login

Not sure if it's expired or not, but the steps to solve it are here:

FOR THE NEW PUZZLE, the first step is to enter the Metheus page. There, you will find that the left side is lit up by a torch. There is also a console on the left. When you click the console, it will take you to a dashboard. There will be characters on the bottom, as well as a black and gold string of symbols on top. To progress with the puzzle, you need to exchange codes.

Specifically, you need to find a buddy and either input their gold or black code, not both. They will input the opposite code of yours (black or gold). The center will turn gold when you input theirs. When they input yours, the gaps will turn purple.

Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 10.58.11 PM.png

(I input my partner's gold symbols and they input my black.)

After that, you can move on to the second part. But make sure you keep in touch with your buddy, because you'll need them for the second part. By now, the other half of the first screen should be lit by a second torch. There is a second console. When you click on the console, you'll either have tile squares and a string of black symbols at the top, or vice versa. There are 32 symbols and 13 tiles. One partner will get the symbols and the other will get the tiles. I happened to get the tiles, so my screen looked like this:

Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 8.11.53 PM.png

Now comes the hard part. You need to put in the code that your partner has, as well as give them the code that you received on yours. As far as I can tell, it's random, and the symbols never correspond to the same tiles twice. Usually, when you swap codes, at least one dot will light up. That means that one of the tiles is in the correct placement and it's the correct tile, meaning it corresponds with your partners symbol. For example, let's say that I have a tile with a dash at the top. My partner has a symbol that looks like a funky F. We happened to find, through trial and error (removing the tiles and submitting until something turned off), that the F symbol and the tile make one of the dots light up when they're in a certain slot. When you have a match, it could be in any of the slots.

Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 9.07.58 PM.png

(This is us with two symbols and tiles correct. I think in this case, it was the first and the sixth. I can't remember what symbols they had on their end. The main code started us off, and then we had to find the right input by trial and error. The best we got was three before it refreshed.)

Here's the worst part: you only have a certain amount of submissions to get it right before it refreshes, and you have to start over again. That's at least what I've been able to gather from our experiments.

Here's a better explanation for how to solve the second part:

Apparently, it's just a matter of switching the symbols and tiles that you already have in unison and submitting the answer in a cohesive fashion.

When you get all six dots, the button will glow gold.

EDIT: I finally finished the puzzle for myself, so here's what you need to do.

First, follow the binary method. What I mean by this is to have the tile person enter in all of the first tile in their partner's code.

 Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 11.29.56 PM.png

That should get you at least one dot. Then one of you can check to see which tile/symbol is in the correct placement by replacing them with a filler not in your code and pressing submit. Be sure to refresh the page often to make sure that the website is recording your inputs.

Using this method, you should be able to narrow it down.

Screen Shot 2017-04-11 at 11.32.59 PM.png

Here's us trying to find the second symbol/tile placement. I put in the second part of their code into all of my slots.

It sounds more complicated than it is. Honestly, others have explained it better than I have.

Whew. Sorry, that was a lot, but it needed to be clarified.

• While playing online i noticed that some people can quickly tipe in chat

"banana : I have 14 Gears"
or
"banana: I miss 8 manure to build a small farm"

What are the keys to do this? I tried asking around but people will just answer "magic lol" or give no answer at all :/

• I know that holding shift while opening a chest can quickly move items from your inventory to the chest or vice versa, and that holding CTRL will split the stack in half (say 20 logs will become 10). But is there a way to pick one single piece of item at the time? Often people ask me "can i have 1 flint" or "1 grass" and i have to CTRL click 19 times before getting just 1 grass/flint to give.. Pretty annoying :(

Is it possible to play together offline?

Long time no post! I do hope this is in the right place. I apologise if not.

I am a complete noob when it comes to networking for sure. I was wanting to know if through LAN or some other means I would be able to play with my sweetheart offline? I live in a very remote location so my internet is actually all tethered from my phone. My sweetheart visits often and we want to play together when he's here but my phone can barley connect me to the game, let alone connect both of us. It's very laggy and connection drops frequently.

So I was wondering how to set up maybe a LAN that can be used offline? Or something else if it's not a LAN I use? I have no idea how any of that works, so I'd have to be told what to buy and how to set it up and everything, very sorry about that but I would very much appreciate it!

Thank you for your time.

What Lies Beyond? [Spoilers]

Those who finished the Metheus puzzle, and got lucky, would find this video from clicking on the new background of the Metheus page.

It is basically saying what is already known, that something is going to happen with the portal and Charlie is involved.

Through the portal there appears to be what may look like a mountain-esque shadow landscape.

As well as this.

1492008678_Character.PNG

1492008678_Character.PNG

Which looks like the side profile of a person, possibly the leaked future character;

Left over from the Metheus puzzle, seemingly, is this;

58e8ede9eec66_Trailer1.png.da943bf947ca69bbe614f1446c8538cc.png

Perhaps it is a clue to using the new cane skin to accomplish something.

The number thirteen was also found on the Metheus wall, that day is very close.

And there is also the strange audio that plays on the Metheus page in general.

Thoughts, comments? Etcetera.

Base catching fire

Playing on one of the DST Klei Official servers. Day 7 we complete our base. As soon as i fuel my campfire i noticed that , without wearing anything, i was overheating next to it. felt wierd but whatever.

Each of us (4 players) move away from the base hunting for resources , as soon as we come back the whole base is burned down. Somebody starts a roleback, "Yes" wins. We start the day again , this time i stay close just to be sure nobody came to burn everything down.

As soon as i leave to go help one of the player fighting against spiders the base catches fire again.

Is this a bug, or am i supposed to put stuff VERY far away from the campfire? Everything was at least 1 tile away from it, never happened to me honestly

Various questions (statues and relocating mobs)

In some videos I saw people having a lot of marble statues in all kinds of types but you need the sketch to make one statue. So if I want more I need more sketches?! How do you get more? On the wiki it says sketches are dropped by the Pig King http://dontstarve.wikia.com/wiki/Sketch

but how?

I also saw people relocating no eyed deers but after they despawned will they respawn in that location where the player put them the year before? My deers seem to spawn in my decidous forest on the border of the swamp and then they wander off. How can I relocate them more or less permanently? (and yes I know, they will despawn at the end of winter, I'm just curious how people manage to "trap" them.)

I'm interested in those glass statues from the Antlion. How is the best way to get them without dying. How can you avoid getting trapped in its sandcastle ring and savely light the castles on fire? Will the fire spread automatically or do I have to lit them one by one? (I want to prepare myself properly that's all)

[Q] Resource calculator?

Hi all.

Has anyone seen/made a tool to calculate total resources required to build a base or some other "built" area? I've been playing with creative mode and would like to start building in my main world, but I would need at least ballpark figures for all the primary resources (ie. rocks, grass and logs, not cut stone, rope and boards).

Is this a WX-78 wetness-related bug, overlook or an intentional feature?

$

I'm not posting this in bug reports, because I have no idea whether this is a bug or not in the first place.

Essentially, the less water protection something has, the more it will slow down the rate at which WX-78 gets a short-circuit hit. At least, based on my tests... shouldn't it be the other way round?

So, if you place an eyebrella on while it's raining and you have some wetness on already, the hits will be carried out every 3 - 5 seconds. However, if you have a Pretty Parasol (of all things) in hand, and that alone, the hits will be slower, providing about 7 or perhaps even more second interval.

I found this out when testing my mod; for my mod, when having eyebrella on and high wetness, the rate was very fast because of the way I coded it. But... with pretty parasol on and/or straw hat on, it worked just as if the game didn't have any mods on. Weird.

Yes, I tested it both with the mod and without it and, as mentioned in the beginning the rate with eyebrella was 3 - 5 seconds, while with parasol the rate was 7 or more seconds.

Theory about everything in the DS world - SW, DS, DST

$

Webber (only confirmed pre-Wilson character):

Found as a skull inside a Spider - it appears as though he died, and THEN the skull was eaten. Hence, the skull being indigestible.

Due to game logic and lore, throwing that in a grave makes his old body grow inside the spider.

This is an alternate to the popular theory that he was literally eaten alive, or a failed experiment.

However, this means Webber would have been in the world, and died, before Wilson ever arrived.

Thus, it appears the timeline went as such:

Take a batch of survivors - Webber (a human, at this point.), Wes (he's here before Wilson), and some others.

Most of them/all of them died or "escaped" using the Teleportato or something else

Wilson was taken here (I'm sure Klei have mentioned that Wilson was first of our current survivors (this was pre-RoG, if it counts.) thus meaning he came before Willow onwards. So how is there dead skeletons? Easy, another batch of survivors came before. - If I am wrong on this, the other evidence would still amount to the same result, so this is not important.)

Others were taken as Wilson is in the world (EXP possibly symbolizing this in the original)

Webber was revived using this "tainted" skull while they were in the world, causing him to be a dollar store Spiderman.

While it is unknown who came before, we can theorise!

"You thought you were the first? Ha!" to Wilson, who IS in fact the first of our survivors, discounting Wes/Webber.

"I remember that one!" - Maxwell, about the boons. It appears he means he remembers the person, which is possible - in DST you can recognize random skeletons, so it isn't a stretch to think Maxwell could recognize them. God knows how, though.

Webber and Wes - Webber appears to still have the mentality of a child, and never seems to mention the past. Odd. - On the other hand, Wes is mute. This could be some kind of symbolism for removing the tongue of a traitor, if you will. He's hence, unable to ever say a word about it.

Boons - The boons have a theme to them, and also made camps in the world - including in Adventure Mode... - These themes include:

Beefalo Tamer: Has wool around the skeleton, a Beefalo Pen can be found in the world. - Speculation would show this could be Winnie, a scrapped character who is a Shepherdess? - Maybe the Beefalo Trader in DST has something to do with this.

Miner: Has stone and a pickaxe around the skeleton, a Miner's Camp can be found in the world, as can a Caves camp. - Winona? Theoretically she's not in the world at this point, but maybe? She is shown to have "worked in a mine" - perhaps not a literal one.

Lumberjack: Has wood and an Axe around the skeleton, however I don't believe there is a matching camp. - Woodie? Pretty big stretch considering he was most likely taken by Maxwell. That, or there's more mystery surrounding Woodie, Lucy and his 'accident' (leaked DST skin of Woodie with an axe mark on his head. - Delusions/hallucinations?)

Other camps: In Adventure Mode especially, there are larger more filled out camps, likely belonging to these little guys.

Other questions:

Why was Wes locked up, and why is he a mute? - It really gives the vibe of "You dun goofed, Wes" - as if he had done something he should not have. Perhaps tried to use the Atrium to escape? The Teleportato? We'll never know.

It would be nice to get a cinematic about these guys, or even a full fledged prequel? Maybe?

Flaws with this theory: Discounts SW, however most people have come to the conclusion it is not canon, so we're waiting on Klei's lead there.

EDIT: Perhaps Maxwell didn't even take this old batch, just toyed with them? - The Adventure Mode camps show Maxwell could have made his own way to the Throne and taken it for himself.

If we go off Winona's quotes:

DIVININGRODBASE - UNLOCK - "Is this how the bossman disappeared?" - Winona is shown to have worked in Voxola via her other quotes, so the bossman in this case is Robert Wagstaff, creator of the PR-76 atop the Divining Rod. Putting the Rod in and taking pity is what the Unlock quote is for, so it would appear Wagstaff was in some form, on the throne - How Winona knows this is a mystery. Perhaps she was there for it? - If Maxwell did release Wagstaff, where is he, let alone the others? - Judging by the amount of boons, they could literally have died, though that seems like a boring conclusion to a good story arc.

This would make the Throne's timeline as so:

Ancient Throne - (theoretically Metheus) Staff Guy is on the Throne at this point. It appears he exploits the Throne in order to make his society thrive using Nightmare Fuel.

<Somehow Humans enter the Don't Starve world of their own accord, causing the next part. Maybe SW goes somewhere here?>

???? - Wagstaff may be on the throne at this point. It appears he takes in a bunch of Humans to try and free him, but They have other plans.

Nightmare Throne - Maxwell is on the throne at this point. He takes in Wilson and the others, up to Wigfrid. Webber and Wes were in the world before, and the SW characters appear to have their own story arc.

Florid/Umbral/??? Throne - Charlie is on the throne at this point. She has not taken anyone in, possibly due to the fact they are all alive, or just due to the fact the updates aren't out yet ;) - Winona appears to be coming soon, so perhaps Charlie has freed Winona, or even revived her? We'll find out!

??? - ???

Another part to this is that it almost appears the old batch were together, rather than split up, due to the amount of boons in a world (that are all theoretically more or less the same age in the scheme of things) versus the one alive guy. They may have been split up due to being too powerful in a group, and perhaps this is why Don't Starve Together happens - Maxwell must know about this in some form, perhaps it's why his Codex has blueprints? - Wagstaff may have made them, due to his background as a Factory Owner and on the Throne...

A big problem with this is how Humans entered the world in the first place. Theoretically Wagstaff had forbidden knowledge/gained it from the Codex Umbra, and used it to make a portal into the world? It would explain the blueprints in the Codex. Likely he took the throne from Staff Guy (who is currently MIA, but apparently still in the world, likely through the Ancient Gateway - Metheus puzzles would show there is a surviving Ancient.)

Something we still don't know about the game is how exactly characters other than Wilson/Maxwell got through the Portal to them? Perhaps the Divining Rod lead them to it or they were taken by something.

As for Shipwrecked, it appears to have it's own story arc that may or may not link into DS' story. Theoretically lore-wise the Archipelago is in the world with the Mainland, but there's no explanation how Walani, Warly, Wilbur and Woodlegs got there.

Wilbur does appear to be mentioned in a William Carter puzzle, specifically that there was a Circus Cart with intelligent Monkeys, such as himself. - Though this could have been retconned.

If we are to take the Shipwrecked Trailer as totally canon, Wilson made it there on his attempt to escape from the island, it would place it somewhere like...

>Wilson kidnapped

>others slowly arriving

>Wilson tries to make a boat and escape the island - washing up ashore a tropical island in an archipelago.

>Theoretically, he is actually with Walani, Warly, Wilbur and Woodlegs.

What is interesting is:
Walani is a Surfer, she would be in the sea

Warly is said to be a Cruise Ship Chef by Klei, Jamaican, at that. (rather near the Bermuda triangle)

Wilbur is a lazy replacement for Watricia, as said by common sense

Woodlegs is a pirate, so would also be on the sea.

Odds are the fact that (all of them if we don't count Wilbur, but DO count Watricia) they all have links to the sea would denote they were NOT bribed into the world, accidentally ending up there, instead.

Perhaps they went through the Bermuda Triangle?

Warly's Cruise Ship, assumed to be Quest, would have gone directly through it if it was going to Jamaica on a short route. - Again, ended up there. This is backed up by other evidence I will put below)

Walani could quite easily have surfed into it (really though, Walani? You stupid?) - Ended up there.

Wilbur, being a monkey can be assumed to have lived there already, due to Prime Apes.

Watricia is more or less a Castaway reference, with her Postal Bag and other things. - She could be Castaway in the Bermuda Triangle.

Woodlegs is a Pirate. A nutty pirate, at that. What kind of nutty pirate wouldn't go right there in search of loot? That's what he did.

Wolly's SW quote would thus make a lot of sense. "Nice sailing, Chump!" - All of the characters, even Wilbur, got there by failing at sailing (trademark) - Wilbur is on a raft when you unlock him, where he sinks. Hence, failing at sailing. Warly was on a Cruise Ship that crashed in the Bermuda Triangle. Again, showing that he did too. Walani was surfing in the Bermuda triangle and failed. Woodlegs was on his boat, and failed. Wilson, in the SW trailer, ALSO failed.

The difference is, Walani, Warly and Woodlegs came from the outside and not the DS world.

Steamer Trunks in SW. - Steamer Trunks are literally just luggage. What do you take on a Cruise Ship? Luggage. - It's quite possible the ship crashed, hence sending it everywhere.

Wolly's Boat on the DS island - This seems to be somebody's rather pitiful attempt at escaping the Archipelago, where they simply ended up in a larger part of it. Likely Woodlegs or Warly, due to the fact that Woodlegs uses his own boat (and Wolly is a pirate!) & Walani and Wilbur use rafts. Warly is just a stand-in in all honesty.

Hence, this connects even SW together. Rejoice.

TL;DR: Don't Starve's worlds are all in the Bermuda Triangle. Theoretically the mythical "evil" there is actually Them all along.

New timeline:

Ancients die out, Staff Guy on throne, becoming the Shadows.

Some time after, Humans arrive through innate curiosity in the Bermuda Triangle.

They get to the mainland, also.

Wagstaff makes contact with these Humans through the PR-76, and theoretically THE Codex Umbra.

Wagstaff enters the world, taking the Throne from Staff Guy.

Wagstaff takes in new players, notably Wes and Webber (in addition to Walani, Warly, Wilbur and Woodlegs)

Maxwell arrives via the Codex Umbra found in the Desert during a time of hardship, after abusing it's power - A repeat of the Ancients' fate. Never abuse the Nightmare Fuel.

Maxwell takes the throne after beating Wagstaff's trials, now known as Adventure Mode.

Wagstaff is missing, Staff Guy is missing. Maxwell ALSO was after being released from the throne, and makes it into the world much later than Wilson did, likely at the mercy of Charlie. - Though this is later on.)

Theoretically, Maxwell holds a grudge against Wes, locking him up in Two Worlds.

Maxwell takes in Wilson and the others

>events of DS, with Wolly being there from the start.

>events of Cyclum

>events of DST
