New Oasis set piece in pre existing world questions
I forgot to create the cave
I played for a while and suddenly noticed that I don't have cave in my world.
How to get my cave back in my setting world?
I have play around twenty seven days TT
Comparing the Theme of DS vs. DST
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last theorized on the wonderful world of Don't Starve. This is one thing that I've thought of before, and only recently realized what it was that I wanted to say. So here we go.
One thing that I've noticed (as I'm sure many of you have noticed as well) is that DST feels different from DS. Aside the obvious, such as multiplayer, new content, new strings, etc., there is something else that seems to have changed. While playing around in DST, I have noticed that . . . well, DST had undergone a subtle, yet somewhat substantial, change from DS.
To put it bluntly, Don't Starve was scarier, and much darker. Why is this? Well, it was due to several small sources, that added up to make it into a game that brushed up more against the horror genre than its sequel. The main theme of Don't Starve, from my own perspective, was that everyone that got trapped on the island was damned in some way (do I need to sensor that? Not really sure . . .). And I mean that in the literal sense. The game went out of its way to make it look like all of the characters were twisted in some way, had done some crime/atrocity, and were trapped on this island, doomed to die a grisly fate. The fire in the background on the character selection menu implied that they were designated to hell (or that this island was a form of hell), and their portraits/comments often went along with making them feel slightly twisted. Wilson is seen chocking a small animal (which is also a pun, but who says that can't serve two purposes?), Wendy is obviously more morbid/nihilistic, Willow is obsessed with burning everything, and her portrait shows her standing in front of a burning orphanage (I'm assuming that's what it is), and so on. Granted, saying all of the characters were twisted may be kind of a stretch (like Wickerbottom), but by the time that I unlocked Woodie (it was a glorious day indeed) I had been so saturated in the feel of the game, that as soon as Lucy started talking, my first thought was "Oh shoot, who did this guy kill?".
Along with the characters being portrayed as doomed and twisted, the game was also more hostile. The shadows felt omnipresent, and when you heard that whispering, things started getting freaky. Perhaps the isolation and sense of loneliness is what truly drove the constant peril and fear of the world into the player, but I feel like it's safe to say that in general, the world was a more hostile place.
DST on the other hand, seems to focus more on the lighthearted weirdness of the Don't Starve world. I personally enjoy playing DST more than regular DS, but maybe that's due to all the new content, emotes (I can sit down now! Wohoo!!), and skins. And multiplayer of course. I think overall, the biggest example goes back to the character selection menu. Notice that whereas DS had the characters enveloped in flames, with locked coffins for the unplayable characters, DST simply has their portrait. It doesn't imply that you are doomed to die at all. The shadows are also easier to keep at bay, and seem like more of nuisance than an actual threat. Woodie gets pinecones, Willow gets her teddy bear friend, and even if your character doesn't get some kind of sanity boost, your friends can still help you beat the snot out of any shadows that dare attack you. While in DS all the game did was wait it out until you messed up and got killed, in DST, you more or less have to seek out that danger to get killed. That makes it less scary, and more like adventure.
So overall, that's what i think the difference is. DS was more along the survival horror theme, with some weirdness and humor thrown in, and DST leans more towards adventure/survival, with plenty of weirdness thrown in. Both games, while in the same series, and basically the same game, have these subtle differences that change the overall feel of the game.
Just to be clear, I'm not complaining at all, I rather enjoy all the changes and differences in DST. I just wanted to see if I could pin down what the difference in themes was. What are all of your thoughts?

Microphone Issues in DST
Hi,
Mic works great in Windows, in Steam the screen shows it is working but when I connect to a player they can't hear me?
World Generation is Weird
So I joined some random public server, and we decided to make a base at the Pig King. There was someone playing as Webber, and they were obviously reluctant about this choice. However upon finding the Pig King, there were absolutely no pigs in the village. In fact, the only sign of a Pig Village at all, apart from the King, was a circle of carrots, however half of them were missing. (And no, it wasn't one of the players who took them!)
So this was the 'village' at first, as you can see there was a marble sculpture next to it, with one part of the set piece not on the usual marble/carpet turf.
A little later on, we had taken the Wooden Flooring from the Pig King and used it for our base, on the right you can see the half-carrot circle.
And that's the latest screenshot I took. Another anomaly about the world, there was a single Juicy Berry bush looking extremely out of place in the middle of a Savannah. And that was the only one, all the other bushes in the world were regular berries. (You can see the JBB planted to the right of the marble shrubs.)
So yeah. That's weird, I guess. There was also a Queen's Gathering setpiece, which isn't that weird, but a lot of people in the chat were going: "Ooh, aah, a ring of tier 3 spider dens? How interesting!"
By the way, the server was called 'All About That Base,' which I found rather amusing. It was set to endless and it's primary focus was building a big 'ol base. And surprisingly, nothing bad happened in that server at all. No griefers or anything like that. And my connection was good for once which is odd considering that hardly any public servers are hosted in Aussie and not somewhere else. (We invented WiFi! Shouldn't that entitle us to the best?)
Also, someone rolled a 100 on that server. I didn't get a screenshot, but I've never seen that happen before.
EDIT: Yeah, I know that this probably belongs in Tales of Life and Death, but everyone's hanging out here now. So please, don't move this, moderators? Please? Pretty please with an Eternal Fruitcake on top?
Farms and how to fix them
So after a lot of tinkering and searching for mechanics on both DS and DST,I came to the realization that farms simply suck. Not only are they expensive to create (the advanced ones, because god help you make food out of the basic farms),they require seeds to function which leads to an infinite cycle of feed my bird my food so it creates seeds so I can get some food out of my food.
On the other hand after mushrom planters were added I was astonished.Due to the fact I have a pig village with a bait pen dedicated to farming trees,I always end up with at least 2 treeguards in the vast forest which in turn ends in a hilarious death battle in which ultimately the treeguards lose and I gain a lot of living logs. And I do mean a lot (like 10 every day or so). So let's make a quick comparison between mushroom planters:
Farms pros:
-Can sustain their crops during winter
-Is a means to produce vegetables (fillers, exotic recipies) for your crock pot
-Can be sped up using rot/manure/white manure
-Can be used to create a steady supply of the second most amazing recipe in the game, dragonpie which is also useful during winter
Farms cons:
-Each requires a seed
-Will wither and die if left unprotected during summer in the overworld
-Wastes a lot of your time and is not a reliable food source (produces too little food)
-Dragonfruit has a 10% chance of appearing, meaning you'll have to wait on average 10 days before it appears on any of your farms and will also require even more days to fill your farms with more dragonfruits unless you have lots of manure or are wickerbottom.
-Dragonpie overheats you during summer
-Is very expensive to build (rock is "hard" to find...get it? )
Mushroom planter cons:
-Are initially hard to get (tree guards are at first rare and hard to kill)
-Require an initial mushroom to begin the mushroompocalypse
-Crops rot during winter
-Might require a crockpot to turn them into fillers
Mushroom planter pros:
-Can mass produce them after a few seasons
-Can function during winter in caves
-Can multiply the production by catching spores which are totally free and abundant in the caves
-Mushroom trees respawn even if you cut most of them down so your source of spores/mushrooms never end .(3 days each during specific seasons).
-Can stack up to 4 mushrooms in a few days making them ideal for food horders and people who generally love to use mushrooms instead of vegetables (100% of the player base).
-Mushrooms themselves have very positive effects and can be used in a variety of ways
-Can stack dozens of mushrooms with 1/4 of the effort required to farm veggies.Mushrooms can stack up to 40 on the fridge. They have around three times the durability of veggies(!).
So my question is,can we somehow buff the ultra lame farms as they are now? I'm just tossing ideas here but ... perhaps the devs could add a highly advanced farm similar to mushroom planters which requires living logs instead of simple logs ,marbles instead of rock and produces multiple veggies in a similar fashion to the mushroom planters?
Or even make them randomly generate crops every few days so that way you don't have to waste so much time in something that should give you at least equal amounts of food and positive effects to hunting animals for jerky or gathering honey.
I know it sounds egoistical, but personally I'd like to see some farm buff overhaul to give meaning to the phrase "farming's as honest as honest work gets".Farms should give back the time I built them and added their seeds, not require a constant babysitting around birds. The veggies should come at a pace equal to the most common food resources in the game (meat, jerkies, eggs, honey now even mushrooms can be mass produced). They are the least favorable food source and this seems unfair. Plus I love farming.
Thanks for reading .

Don't Starve Together Character Guide
I've seen a few 'character guides' recently and most, if not all of them were missing vital information and only gave basic information on each character. So I've decided to change that by making this one!
This is my first Don't Starve Together video of this type. Hope I did ok, please tell me what I did wrong in the comment section below by replying to this topic.
Seriously, though, I would like to know. This video was pretty fun to make. I might make more in the future, not sure what on though.
Happy Starving Not Starving!
EDIT: Oh yeah, turns out I completely forgot about Webber's Beard. Woops!
The Sandstorm Fails to Cover all of my Only Desert
Because of my impatience, I manually retro-fitted the Against the Grain update in one of my pre-existing worlds before update 205658.How, you ask? There was a console command before update 205658 called "c_retrofitagainstthegrain()" (no longer a command now) that I found within the console commands folder of DST. The command would spawn in the oasis lake, Antlion, and summer sandstorm in the location you input the command.
For more backstory:
I had to do this multiple times in the one desert in my world (via rollbacking) because the oasis lake would keep spawning in undesirable locations, whether it be far too close to the ocean, or even on the ocean itself! Funny thing is, the said undesirable locations it chooses to spawn in are always specified with each time I rollback, depending on where I am standing in the desert. Why is that?
When I finally got the oasis lake and the Antlion spawn point to be in the desert a good distance away and out of the ocean, I continue my server until Summer hits. The sandstorm within the desert only surrounds the large vicinity of the Antlion and the oasis lake, and even since update 205658, the sandstorm still doesn't cover the entire desert. I guess I'm lucky I don't have the sandstorm to interfere with my Summer Dragonfly battles? Weird question, but is there a way (via coding, I assume) that I can make the sandstorm reach all corners of the desert?
Game starts to stutter after playing for a while
Hello. So I'm playing the latest build of A New Reing Beta with my friend on his server, and here's what happens. When I start playing everything works perfectly fine, but after playing for a while the game starts to stutter, especially when I change equipped items, put food in crockpot etc., but not only, Then I have to restart the game and it starts working fine again for another 15-30 minutes and I have to do this everytime in order to play normally, I thought it was mods fault, but I disabled all of them and this still occurs, and I don't think that it's a fault of my buddy's server mods. Any ideas? I've searched the forums, but I haven't found anyone with problem like mine.
How to Opt-In to "A New Reign Beta" for Don't Starve Together

Are you a Wolfgang main? Get ready to feel oppressed as a THICC and MEATY dpser.
So where do I start?
Well I was playing on my good friend @JoshySpaghetti's server and 3rd autumn I think came around, I was playing as Wolfgang and I thought I should get into some autumn clothing and I got a nice DISTINGUISHED Shearling coat on, but to my horror and shock I saw Wolfgang
was shirtless...and I was like "WHAT!? NEIN!" the reason this was a problem was because I thought all distinguished clothing didn't brake when Wolfgang became mighty.
And then I thought to myself "This is worst than when Willow GoH had a hole in her head!" but yeah maybe this is just another graphical glitch with skins like back then, but I was unsure since the devs don't like having fun with clothing skins when it comes to Wolfgang, what do you think?
Looking for players this weekend (public/private) to cycle through every season (on my bucket list)
Hi all,
I'm fairly experienced and almost never die in autumn/winter/spring. I rarely look up information on DST online because I like to discover the game slowly.
I've made it quite a few times to summer but this is usually when players reset the game so my experience in it is limited. All I know is freezing stones, the flingomatic?, carrying a fan/umbrella and wearing light clothes. I don't use any mods in DST (just one in DS).
Ground fissures, drought? wth is that?
Hey guys, I was playing with a friend, and all of a sudden, he says, as he started walking the ground started collapsing under him, as if his character was suddenly extra heavy... the chests close by also broke with the fissures. It was not an earthwake because the screen itself did not shake.
Here's a screenshot:
The season is summer, and there's no boss around (the summer boss is the dragonfly which is far away from our base).
We searched everywhere for "cracked ground" or "collapsed ground" or any word that can explain the phenomena and there's not a single link or image on google about this.
So can anyone tell me what the hell is that? Why it happened so suddenly without warning, how can we turn our base back to normal or prevent this.
More info: You walk slowly inside this shattered ground, you cannot drop items inside it (even though the chests dropped when they broke), theres no mods on our server, and you cannot pitchfork the ground to get rid of it:
Going to try and avoid public games from now on, newbies come in and kick you out if you don't vote to regenerate
I was the only survivor in the Spring with several ghosts, had revived one and was about to revive a second. This entire game I was helping people to stay alive and trolls were coming in constantly trying to kick players out. By the middle of Spring they voted me out.
This is what destroys community spirit in the game.
Antlion is related to Shipwrecked?
The Antlion is shown to have a weird love for the Beach Toy trinkets in particular, which to me, seem like they could be due to a relation to Shipwrecked. They're not even harder to get than normal trinkets, they just... exist.
As well as this, the Beefalo Trader frequently mentions a Nox, whereas an Ox is an animal in SW. However, the Ox name was removed, so it's... Not an ox, just like Beefalo Trader says. A nox.
Lastly, we got some skins like the Yacht Suit, all of which seemed to be almost like Formal skins for SW characters - It seems a little coincidental all this Beach & Ship Themed stuff happens close together.
All Released Skins (as of now)
So, back in July I made a thread showing off all of the concept art skins before we knew about the clothes system. Since then, the thread died off as it was no longer relevant. So I was thinking, "Hey, the wiki doesn't really show off all of the new clothes, someone should do something about that." But since I can't edit the wiki (or know how to), made this thread showing off all the skins that Klei has released to DST as of now. I will update this thread with new skins as they roll out. enjoy!

where can I find the sound files of woody?
Hello all, I just wanna find the sound file of his axe to replace it with a mute file, because its sound is kind of annoying to me. Thank you in advance
