I want more places like ruins :| BOSSES FIGHT! I never played base building so yeaah.
I was just wondering, if wormwood is a plant based character that looses sanity for chopping tree/shoveling resources/liting fire on trees and such either by himself or just by being around someone who's doing those around him then shouldn't Treegaurds be friendly towards Wormwood??Instead of sanity loss he should probably get a sanity boost around their kind. They should stay deaggro around him unless he decides to attack first or chop wood around them? And when they decide to fight..maybe that's when the sanity loss kicks in twice the amount?(since he's a tree..the treegaurd is basically his guardian and fighting them would cause him twice the sanity loss)??And even with multiple treegaurds the only one that will fight him is the one he'll decide to attack first, the rest will stay deaggro??What do you guys think about this??
Ok I have some far out predictions.
We get a new character confirmation. Nobody knows who it is, until late March, when it's revealed to be
Wallace, the unimplemented character!!!!
Wallace is good with animals, and can befriend some stuff others can't.
Of course we get the year of the beefalo. We get natural beefalo variants, and can pick and choose certain types to breed to give us an edge. Maybe some can be milked, some have a special type of fur that is used in crafting, some require less food to be tamed, etc. Basically just adds beefalo ranching.
Later down the line we are able to open the portal in the archives.
It makes a new world, that is copied from the old one, even player made changes. It is much more difficult to survive in this world. Lots of variants of regular mobs that are more challenging, (not so) natural disasters occur.
When you go back to your base you find that it had been taken over by a colony of some kind of mutated pigmen or something like that. There's a ton of them, and it is extremely difficult the get the base back, with the easiest option being to simply build a new one. Basically this world has new content and is a lot harder. The map also resets, so you have to rediscover everything.
On the lunar island in this realm is the final boss. But the oceans have turned from water to lava. So a wooden boat will not be enough. Perhaps there is some kind of work you have to do to make a lava-worthy ship.
Ok that's all my ideas. Let me know your guys ideas too if you like
Hey everyone! I noticed that there's a buttload of new memes and no place to put them. Post them here for people to see (and so we can stop clogging up the puzzle thread). Enjoy!
Edit: Also, the memes don't have to be Maxwell themed. All characters are welcome. This is merely a sequel of a previous meme thread.
Hello, i know there's a lot of post about Warly but i think we need to give him some attetion and i'm not talking about op character or anything like that.
I think Warly don't worth the effort you need to put on him just to be able to survive ins't hard is just high cust/low reward you can only eat one food type and you must wait 15m to eat the same food again, okay i love to cook and i can do a lot of foods but why we need to wait so much to eat the same thing again? would be MUUUUCHHHH BETTER if we did one of thoose things.
1 - If you eat an diferent food the the timer reset for the first food you eated.
2 - If you eat an diferent food the timer of the rest of the foods decrease by 50%
That would be great, since you can do some diferent foods and have time to do other things beside hunt for food 90% of your time.
Warly food should give some bonus to other or to himself, like, normal food = 62 hunger, Warly's food = 82food, nobody in this game dies to starvation and there's nothing "OP" or "Broken" about a character being able to do better foods with better hungers values or even better, 30% on hunger, 5% on sanity, 2% extra on health, this would make everyone ask to Warly do the foods, when you play Warly in servers nobody care's about you doing the food, Warly is just another character that don't do anything usefull, spicy don't beat wolfgang insane damage or the amount of people just attacking at the same type one boss so people literraly say "We don't care about spice damage bonus" and that's sad, warly special foods use resources that aren't easy to get and the benefit it's to situational like eletrical damage(water ballon don't affect bosses or enemies)
Again i'm not saying warly is trash or unplayable but he should be better than his is right now, we got Woodie amazing rework, Wig great rework(could be better but it's still awesome), Wormwood new buffs made him even better than he was, i think now is the time to give Warly some attetion.
I was thinking today about completely useless items, and the pick/axe came to mind! (Along with the lazy forager, albeit slightly more useful) I really think this item should get a buff. At the very least it should have more uses than a gold pickaxe or axe. In the item's current state, I've never once crafted it, and I don't think I ever would unless I just wanted to flex. Gold tools are much cheaper, and the efficiency bonus you get for using the pick/axe is not worth the cost at all. In my opinion, it should be a pick/axe you can use nightmare fuel to repair, but you drastically lose sanity while using it. Just like magi, this would make the pick/axe a beloved item that would actually get used!
Although this isn't the topic, I believe the same should be done for lazy forager (make it refuelable), but we at least have Electroely's mod for that. It's one of the few game changing mods I actually use. Thanks Electroely!
I just unlocked Wurt and trying to experiment interesting way of solo bosses with her. For example, beequeen, dragonfly, or even ruins.
So far, I have just made a trial to kill beequeen with about 25 merm soldiers with beehat, but ended up with quite the opposite. At an army size of 25, feedin them and bringing them to the spot is already a difficult task. They lose aggro quite easily. I am thinking about maybe building a wall around bosses so that merms stay inside even when they lose friendness points. And ofc, build merm bases near each bosses.
Any other ideas are also welcome.
So I recently watched a few large Twitch Streamers play DST and it was very fun seeing the game hit the top charts on Twitch's front page. However they struggled so bad they gave up on it quite quickly. I was curious some peoples opinions on if Klei were to add Easy, Medium, Hard and Insane difficulty. I know to some this sounds bad and it would change the game play but stand on the side lines for a moment and look in.
A few things to note are not everyone has friends to play with and as someone who basically did exactly that played the game gave up on it right away and then returned to it later to stream in to find people to play with, it can be a bit overwhelming.
I think a difficulty would make it easier for new people joining the game and in the end make it harder for those who think they have done all they can in DST. Easy mode could have a basic tutorial and perhaps change the starting items to make it easier for them. The difficulty would obviously move up as you went on or perhaps could be a switch of the button before starting a new gen as well.
I really think this would make a world of a difference and I want to know everyone's opinion. I never really heard Klei speak directly on why they never added a ramp for new players to the game but I think at this rate it would bring in a lot of newer faces who are able to play the game and get further than just day 10. Now if Klei's main reasoning behind not doing that is to try to encourage people to play with others in order to get more people to play the game now that is understandable but I still think it would really make a difference.
I want to add I understand you can change the options and make it easier for yourself but a lot of newer people have no idea how to do this. Now let me know your opinion.
Also Happy Friday!
Have you ever wondered the classic question- "Which is better? Club or sword?" and nobody had a conclusive answer? Well you've come to the right place, because i have answers!
Which one has higher DPS?
- The player attacks once every 0.433 or 0.466 seconds (13-14 server ticks), meaning 2.33 times a second. I'll use 0.433 for keeping things managable.
(Thanks to Guille for discovering this)
Dark Sword DPS:
68 damage, 2.33 times a second, meaning 158 DPS.
Thulecite Club DPS: (without tentacles)
59.5 damage, 2.33 times a second, meaning 138.635 DPS .
- Note that the above statement assumes no tentacles
20% of the time, the Thulecite Club will summon a tentacle, and assuming 1 in 5 hits will always spawn one, this means that there will be a new shadow tentacle every 2.15 seconds there will be a shadow tentacle, meaning the tentacles give an extra 15.81 DPS per hit, or 31.62 DPS for both, increasing the Thulecite Club's damage to 154.445 or 170.255 DPS, depending on how many times the tentacles hit.
- Please note that this assumes "perfect" rng, and Lady Luck and/or Rngesus may not be on your side.
- In addition, this assume every tentacle hits at least once for dps with tentacles.
But what about cost?
Thulecite Club total damage:*
{[59.5x200]+([200/5]x68)} aka 14,620 damage
Dark Sword total damage:
{68x100} aka 6,800 damage
considering the fact the club takes 3 living logs, this means that you can instead use 3 living logs to make 3 swords, for 20,400 damage, 5,780 damage more than a thulecite club, meaning the damage to living log ratio is better for swords.
however
considering the fact the sword takes 5 nightmare fuel, and the club 4, this means the fuel to damage ratio for the club is 25% better than a club, and 1/4 of a club is 3655, while 1/5 of a sword is 1360.
This means that if you're low on logs, make a sword. Is you're low on fuel, make a club.
*this assumes you get a tentacle every 5 hits (20%) and it hits 2 times for 68 damage
Conclusion:
- Thulcite Club has higher DPS if the tentacles hit, and Dark Sword is higher if they don't
- Thulecite Club is better in terms of nightmare fuel cost, but Dark Sword is better in terms of Living Logs
- Thulecite Club gives 10% speed, so you could possibly do 10% more damage, if you kite.
- Niether is really "Best", but thulecite club is good for both tanking and kiting.
And no, the tentacles are not bugged.
This is also my first forum post so that's cool I guess.
Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!
I'll start
Colonel Woodie of The Royal Canadian Regiment
Shadow smith Winona
XIX century colonial governor Wilhelm P. Higgsenburgh
Severely beaten yet still dapper Wilson
The days have been filled with tilling and toil,
Gathering seeds and nourishing soil,
In hopes that the crops will produce at their best,
(Just make sure that you keep a sharp eye out for pests!)

We're going to be around a few more days fixing up any issues that pop up from the update. But we've already been hard at work on the Year of the Beefalo update coming up after our much needed holiday break. After that we'll be back to our regular content schedule.
And if you're still paying attention, here is a link for some in-game spool (link valid for 30 days). This will grant you 900 spool to get some cool stuff, just in time for the holidays!
We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season. Till next time!
It may seem like an inconspicuous topic, but what if they are an untapped potential to our survivors?
Ill try to avoid talking about the real world lore behind Yokai and instead refer to the video game versions; where I am more knowledgeable. Yokai can be spirits, demons or other paranormal phenomena that can bind themselves to objets and bring them life. I am not making a direct correlation and assuming shadow hands are spirits, or the sort, but it is the closest example to make my case.
I was under the impression for the longest time that these hands belonged to charlie. When on low sanity we see all of these peering eyes and the whispers that follow. What if these hands belong to a multitude of beings hiding in the dark(survivors that gave in to the madness?) Or has the darkness in the constant itself gained sentients due to the large influx of magic? Is it them?
We see time and time again, how these shadow hands (or beings in the case of wavy jones and the grue) can manifest themselves onto objects in the constant. They hide under tables and dress us, but what if we could harness the power that created them and make our own? What if we could tame that shadow under the stagehand? What if the shadow atrium could bring a piece of the shadows to life?
What is everyone's opinion on the shadow hands?

Small sample of theorycrafting:
Possessed Nightlight: One tile radius. The hand smothers any structures smoldering.
Ever just want a single structure out somewhere without having to worry about it combusting in summer; or crafting a whole flingo just for that one science machine to open your gift?
Possessed chest: Will seek out items already placed inside.
I play as wormwood so my beeboxes are nearby, as well as my pigmen. STINGERS, STINGERS EVERYWHERE. Maybe to Pick veggies?

Hi and greetings
I have discovered this farming method 3 years ago in ROG (could be the first?):
First, the surrounding fences has to be big enough, so when you drop the captured moles, they will make new burrow WITHIN the fence.
Second, wait until spring time where frog rain appears, let some frogs rained into the fence.
Now you have moles that constantly aggro the frogs, which will constantly be killed, respawn and repeat, leading to constant supply of morsels. Also, there is little risk that frog will attack you when entering the fence to collect the morsels, since they will be busy chasing and killing the moles.
I wanted to summit this to the wiki, but I have no prior experience in wiki submission or editting, so if this is really the first farming method "invented", can someone who is familiar to the wiki help me upload and add this farming method to it? You will be greatly appreciated for this benevolent act! All I need is a credit and it is enough.
Thank you!
Hey everybody. Just taking a moment to check-in and update you all with the roadmap for 2020.
Please note that roadmaps are provided to give the community a sense on what we are working on and what is driving our decisions for what we are focusing on in the coming year. None of this is a promise or a guarantee. We always prioritize quality over deadlines and all dates and timelines are estimated to the best of our current ability. Many long time fans will know that we often add new things to these plans which often shifts things around a bit, so it is recommended to avoid scheduling your vacation plans around our dates.
This roadmap is subject to change at any time, but as we have done in the past, if any of this does change significantly we will post new information as we have it.
A quick recap of 2019.
2019 was a fantastic year for DST. We added four new characters to the game and we refreshed three more characters. We also had three substantial content updates with Return of them: Turn of Tides, Salty Dog and Hook Line and Inker. We also saw big updates to our holiday events Hallowed Nights, Winter's Feast and Year of the Carrat. During all of that we hit our highest player concurrency record back in April (during a free weekend) and after that craziness had stabilized we just saw our second highest concurrency last week.
For those of you who aren't super into numbers, what that means is that Don't Starve Together is still growing quite nicely. This is also a clear indicator that our plan of character refreshes, content updates and new characters has been working to help keep a healthy community and continues to keep the game interesting for new and returning players.
On that note, we're still very aware that many people want to see events like The Forge and The Gorge come back. While we are not prepared for that right now, we do understand that this is something many of you are interested in and we are still discussing ways to address this in the future.
ReForged and Re-Gorge-itated are both super good so until we have something new we want to contribute, you should check those out.

Oh, and not for nothing, we took great strides in console support. We didn't always hit the mark, but most everything we can control directly has been working out quite well over the past year or so. We will continue improving console support as best we can through 2020.
What we're doing in 2020
We're going to continue with generally the same plan as last year. More character refreshes and content. However, at this time we aren't going to commit to a specific number of new characters. While the new characters were very well received and successful in selling well enough to help fund development we also don't want to add new characters just for the sake of it. With that being said we are currently in the process of creating at least one entirely new character for the future and we will have more information about them as we get closer to release.
For our update timeline, we expect that we will have something being launched at least once a month. We don't want to do more updates in a shorter period of time so we can be sure the updates are more substantial and interesting. Depending on how that lines up we may see a couple updates during some months and sometimes we may go a little past a month for the next update, but our goal is that you have something interesting to look forward too at least once a month.
Our first character refresh is a bit of a secret at the moment - but you might be able to guess. You will be seeing more info about that during the first or second week of March. For now, enjoy this small teaser from the update trailer we are working on.
Lore. Yep. I said Lore.
Something we know everybody wants is more lore. I am not going to say much more for now. But we know you want more lore. It would be smart from this point on to get back into scrutinizing things we put out for secrets. Not everything, but keep your eyes open. Not this post though. There are no secrets in this post. So scrutinizing this post would probably be a waste of your time. Probably. (But really, there is nothing to find here. You'll know when there is something to be found.)
While Maxwell enjoyed hiding little secrets for you to find and seemed to bask in your attention, Charlie has been quite content to work from the shadows, planning and patiently working to put her pieces into play. Things will become much more apparent as her plans become to take shape and she finally takes center stage.
The other stuff.
We're also going to continue doing other cool new things. We really want to work on Klei Rewards more and streaming items have been really popular so we're thinking of new and interesting things to do with these while continuing to support them throughout the year.
And finally.
We're also aware than some players would like us to make more substantial changes to the overall base game of Don't Starve Together and change things up a bit. While this is not a focus right now, we do understand this is something that is being discussed and I invite you to continue those conversations. Don't Starve Together isn't going away any time soon, so keep it coming.
All of your feedback really helps us figure out where we want to put our resources and it goes a long way in helping us decide which direction to steer the ship. You're all a huge part of the growth of DST and we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for hanging out with us and sharing your fun stories and interesting ideas. Please keep sending us your thoughts and feedback and we'll keep trying our best to build the world of Don't Starve Together in new and interesting ways.
Have fun out there!
Do you know any game mechanic that could not be very popular, you use for your advantage and could let us know?
For example: If you feed a pig x4 monster meat and kill it, you get 2x meat and 1x pig skin; two out of three ingredients to prototype hambat, also, you can repeat the process to get pig skin without destroying pig houses.
When ever I play DST solo, desert stones have no use. Sure, the lazy deserter can easily act as easy insanity, but that's not their supposed to be used. Telelocator staves and focuses can't be used underground, so what if the deserters took their role? I'm thinking they could function like Wagstaff's telebrella and pad, with it only being able to teleport players, and you using the stones to move between the deserters.
I noticed that there are practically no icebergs for Don't starve. I only found one, but it has too many fictional things. I tried to make my own version of the iceberg, but I'm not sure if there is enough information in it. If you have any suggestions for what you can add there, then I will be gladly to upgrade the iceberg!
