Any unknown mechanic to share?

Do you know any game mechanic that could not be very popular, you use for your advantage and could let us know?

For example: If you feed a pig x4 monster meat and kill it, you get 2x meat and 1x pig skin; two out of three ingredients to prototype hambat, also, you can repeat the process to get pig skin without destroying pig houses.

A while ago i was playing with one of my friends,when we decided to go into the caves both at the same time this message appeared,we tried to search to know what it was but we found no results,we tried to go on caves again and this problem dint happend soo we just put that on the side since it seems like it would be a one-off thing

But yesterday we found this message again when we both tried to go on caves,but this time it was only me who got the message.
Now i ask you what does this message mean?

Wes Character Rework Concept

The idea of this rework is to refresh Wes making him more distinct and satisfying to play, he will still being the game “hard mode” but he will have new fun abilities that can be used to help other players, himself and decorate your base.

 

Status:

Health: 113 Hunger: 113 Sanity: 150

 

Modifiers:

Damage: 0,75 Hunger: 1,25 ( New ) Speed: 1,10

 

( New ) Cold and Heat Isolation: 0,90 ( New ) Damage Received: 1,10

 

Abilities:

He is a Mime: Can’t talk.

 

( New ) Unlucky Mime: Wes now aggro mobs more easily and mobs take longer to lose interest in Wes.

Wes now is stuck by lighting more frequently.

Wes now attracts more Hounds than normal in Hound haves.

 

( New ) Mime Tools: Wes now can craft invisible tools with very low durability at the cost of his sanity.

 

Invisible Axe: Damage: 11 Durability: 10 Cost: 5 Sanity

 

Invisible Pickaxe: Damage: 11 Durability: 6 Cost: 5 Sanity

 

Invisible Shovel: Damage: 11 Durability: 2 Cost: 5 Sanity

 

Pile o' Balloons: Removed.

 

( New ) Balloonomancy Tab: adds lots of news balloons for Wes and his companions.

  • All balloons cost 5 sanity or 1 mosquito sack.

  • Wes now can’t craft balloons without the materials.

  • Balloons still blownup in a chain reaction.

  • Balloons can still be pushed around.

  • When crafted all balloons go to Wes inventori allowing him to give the balloons to others survivors

  • All balloons, expect the decorative and the mark, have a max duration of 3 days, be in the inventori or the world.

 

Agro Balloon: when blownup all mobs in the screen will agro at who did it.

 

Damage Balloon: When blownup deals 15 damage nearby.

 

Sound Wave Balloon: When blownup also blows up others balloons that the player can see and confuses close range mobs.

 

Friendship Balloon: Can be equipped in hand, doing so will give the player a +5 sanity per minute, or can be given to a neutral creature, doing so will contract the creature for 1 minute and the creature will hold the balloon the best way it can.

 

Throwable Balloon: Can be thrown to deal 5 damage.

 

Mark Balloon: Marks the map!

 

Decorative Balloon: Float indefinitely and give color to the world.

 

( New ) Quality of life improvements:

  • Now when Wes reads signs he will do his mimic and what is witten will be shown at the server chat.

  • Now when Wes tries to perform an impossible action he will do his mimic and what is witten will be shown at the server chat.

  • When someone uses the decorative balloon a screen will popup and the player will select the form and color.

  • All balloons have unic forms, so they are easy to distinguish.

  • Balloons do not interfere when placing structures.

  • Webber can give friendship balloons to spiders and Wurt to merms.

  • New mimic animations.

  • More decorative balloons colors and formats.

  • I’m not a programmer or animator so none of this has been tested.

Is there a way to make a safe pigskin farm as Wurt?

Im playing Wurt and I can make the normal pig farm, houses with skin in a pen in the middle, but they still target Wurt.

Is there a way to make a Pig skin farm without having to change characters? I will be changing characters eventually but I still want to know.

I thought of placing the pigs near the Merms, which would probably work if I put bait for the pigs to stay out, but It would probably be less effecient than something

else because The pigs would eat the pig skin after they respawn.

Maybe I could do the merm vs pig farm, though I'm just asking if there is a better way.

What's the difference between Snowfallen and Merrymaker?

Is Snowfallen just about being the element of ice while Merrymaker is the spirit of winterfeast? I would love a explanation between the skins.

At least with Hallowed and Costume collection, we have a differentiation.

It is already clear that webber does need a rework for DST, so if he were to get one what things would you want to see from it? As someone who mains webber I am interested in what some people have to say!

Wurt, Wendy and Wes Voted Vignettes?

So a while ago the community would vote for screencaps from the character rework shorts to be added as vignettes into the game. Most of these have been added so far but it seems like the voted vignettes for Wurt, Wendy and Wes are still missing. I thought they would been added in with the QoL update but so far they haven't. I wonder if Klei has forgotten to add their vignettes or if we'll be getting them soon?

More suggestions for the next QoL update

I must say that coming after 2 years back into the game, it has been a really enjoyable to see our suggestions finally make it into vanilla. Now, there are still some things I would love to see implemented and if you also have some ideas on your own feel free to add them bellow. Remember to keep you comments focused and friendly. Ty :)

I already mentioned some of them in two posts from the last QoL update. I'm adding the list in text for anyways with some extra ideas:

- Pls Klei.. Geo Placement as Vanilla... pls... I admire my poor console dudes... I salute your courage!!

- Pls add an option to disable twiggy trees spawning in long standing worlds.. they overtake your base even if you have close structures... it's such a pain for people that like to have some little green areas in between the megabase

- For builders:

  • Pls rebalance cobblestones. Building in this game is pretty grindy and I would love if the cobblestone recipe gave more than 1. It feels really expensive, same goes for carpet flooring
  • Pls add nice looking Marble Walls and fix the rough pointy looking top ends of Moonrock walls. They are kinda expensive to look so jagged
  • Pls add more turf and wall types in general.

- Pls allow lazy forager to be refuelable and add a bit more durability. As with the Magiluminescence, items that have good recipes and can be refueled (specially things that need to be crafted in the ruins... u know it's a travel to get there) encourage to actually make more use of them. Managing inventory when u also need to craft the forager makes that people simply prioritize and don't really make them. U still have to carry them back instead of armor, walls, or other much more survival priority items like star callers, deconstructions staves, constructions amulets. I personally use the Magi a lot cuz ik I have to craft two in case of things happening and then I just need to take care of one with fuel. 

- Pls add a trash can. After a while,, you have just a lot of stuff that can't be destroyed by fire... a trash can really is a needed feature in long standing worlds (yes ik about lure plant)

- Pls add a structure you could place made out of one cratered moonrock, a gem, and a sort of pillar or base to use as color markers for wormholes.

- Pls add signs with icons u can see on the map for certain mobs like Beefalos, Moleworms, Bunnies, Volt Goats... I mean Ocuvigil is a bit too much when u just want to see the spot of boof herds in the night to quickly get the wool from one herd to the other or get some moleworms for moogles or guacamole

- Pls allow an option to inspect what's inside bundles or at least to "write" what's inside with a pencil.

Luckiest (or unluckiest) DST Moments.

As Don't Starve Together has a world that is randomly generated, luck ties into the happenings in the game quite often. I was wondering; what are some of the luckiest or unluckiest moments a player could have? The Krampus sack is also very rare so times you've also received it are also acceptable. There might've been an older topic about this, but I might as well bring it back up :D

For me, I felt like my luck was at its peak when I was playing with my friends and decided to dig up the world's graveyard to get four life giving amulets.

Introducing, Klei Rewards

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!

 

Where are the player’s map exploration data stored in DST?

I wanted to convert an offline world to an online one but when I tried I lost all my map exploration because you technically are a new character in the world. Is there a way to copy- paste the map data from the old character to the new online one?


Comprehensive Wurt Bugs list

I've decided to give Wurt another try and, as a good friend often told me, noticed that the character and her merms have quite a bunch of bugs and oversights. 

I make this topic not to be a direct report of those bugs, nor I want this thread to be a rebalance request or to question wurt's general design, instead I just request the help of the community with bugs you've noticed of Wurt to make the proper report.

I'll start with the ones I got so far:

  • Wurt when examining dead players bones, can't tell the causes of death, and will only tell "something happened to them"
  • Merms can't return to their houses when unfriended too far away from it, causing their houses to be empty unless you find the merm and guide it, or kill it. This error also applies to pigmen and bunymen and its related to the buggy pathfinding mobs have. However it affects specially Wurt as you often want to carry merms over long distances with you.
  • Merms do not give any warning sign that they are hungry, like pigs and bunnymen do. If this was intended to be this way, it doesn't seem a very clever way to make handling merms harder than bunnymen, as it quickly becomes a nuisance. I believe its an oversight but I may be wrong.
  • Befriended merms will not defend eachother and outright ignore other merms getting hurt. Merms will defend eachother only if they are not friends of you and they witness any of your befriended merms getting hit, or if they are not friends of you at all. Again this is a rather strange behavior, which seems more like an oversight. But please let me know if you believe this is a useful feature.
  • Merms can get stuck running against eachother. This error also affects bunnymen and pigs, but since its common to make large amounts of merms fight for wurt, its easier to notice with her.
  • Merm king seems to be able to eat rotten eggs.

I know many QOL suggestions have been made aboit Wurt, but I would like that at least the stuff that doesn't seem to work as intended, does work, specially considering its a dlc character.

Hey everybody. 

I hope you're all out there doing well. We're back with another QOL update. As before, we're using this time to give the team some room to catch for the next update. And in classic Klei fashion, we took this opportunity for a small update and went a little overboard.  

In addition to that, we have a bunch of fun stuff to give away. We have new twitch items, login-in rewards, and a new Klei reward item as well!

First up, the notes:

Changes

  • Added the Cookbook item for survivors to record and review their culinary adventures.
    • The Cookbook item can be crafted under the Food crafting tab.
    • Recipes will be learnt after the player who cooks the food, picks up the item off the cooking device.
    • Food details will be displayed upon eating it.
    • The 6 most recent unique recipes will be stored, older ones will be forgotten.
    • The history is stored in your online profile and can be viewed in the compendium
    • Modded foods are saved locally, they are not saved to your online profile, and appear in their own tab within the cookbook screen.
  • Changed the screen flash effect for lightning and gunpowder.
  • Screen flashes (lightning and gunpowder) will no longer close any containers you have open.
  • Added the option “Screen Flashes” to allow players to further reduce the intensity of screen flashes.
  • Tackle Box and the Spectackler Box can now be opened from the inventory. It will be dropped on the ground when doing so.
  • Add the option Backpack Layout to allow keyboard/mouse players to use the backpack layout that is integrated into the inventory bar.
  • Batilisk Wings can now be used in the Crockpot.
  • Holding left shift (key binding: "Force Container (mod)") and right-clicking an item in your inventory will now drop it.
  • The Ancient Guardian now drops a sketch to craft its statue.
  • Increased the item server inventory limit to 10,000 curios.
  • Mods can now be favorited and will show up at the top of the mods list.
  • Mods can now be searched and filtered in the mod screen.
  • Added our newest team member, Zachary Lockwood (Zarklord), to the credits.

Tuning and Tweaks

  • Improved the resolution of the ground textures.
  • Improved resolution on various items.
  • Improved resolution on walls.
  • Characters will now display their most recently used skins when previewing beards.
  • Rockjaws can now despawn.
  • Rabbit Earmuffs no longer require a science machine to prototype.
  • Reduced the amount of Tentacle Spots required to craft the Tail o' Three Cats.
  • Reduced the amount of Cat Tails required to craft the Cat Cap.
  • Reduced the amount of Batilisk Wings required to craft the Bat Bat.
  • Increased the chance of Batilisks dropping a Batilisk Wing.
  • Added c_freecrafting and c_selectnext to auto complete in the command console
  • Stingers can now be set on fire.
  • Added map icons for the Suspicious Marble pieces and the Crab King.
  • Wurt no longer disappears when reading a book while riding a beefalo.
  • Improved the performance on the mods screen.

Notes for Modders

  • Cookbook
    • Calling AddCookerRecipe will add a recipe to the cookbook.
    • All mod foods will be added to the Mod Recipes tab within the cookbook.
    • Recipes for the “portablespicer” will not be added to the recipe book.
    • Add “no_cookbook = true” to a recipe to exclude your recipe from the cookbook.
    • RegisterInventoryItemAtlas(atlas, image) must be called for each food and ingredient in order for their icons to be displayed in the cookbook. If this is not called, the food or ingredient will be displayed as a question mark.
    • Foods with side effects should set “oneat_desc” to a descriptive string.
    • Foods with temperature modification as their only side effect will automatically have the description set.
    • A custom details panel can be set by implementing “custom_cookbook_details_fn” for a recipe. This function must return a Widget for your new details panel. 
  • RegisterInventoryItemAtlas(atlas, image) can be called to add an item’s inventory icon and atlas to a global lookup table. Anywhere that calls GetInventoryItemAtlas will use this table.
  • Mods can now mark other mods as dependencies in modinfo
  • Two new modsettings.lua functions
    • DisableModDisabling() disables the games built in functionality for disabling mods when the game crashes
    • DisableLocalModWarning() disables the warning that happens when enabling a all_clients_require mod that isn’t on the workshop
  • Modinfo now gets passed a locale code, stored in the variable “locale” to support translations inside modinfo
    • A helper function “ChooseTranslationTable(tbl)” will take a table and return tbl[locale] or tbl[1], tbl[1] should be the default locale of your mod.

The team has been chipping away at the next big content update, but before that we have another Character Refresh coming up next month! Now, this image is probably a bit more on the nose than the teasers I have shared in the past, but frankly - I really just thought this was so cool that I had to share. The thing I hope gets fixed in the Wigfrid refresh

 Usually Klei is super on point with the writing with Wigfrid's Norse mythology references. But ever since Return of Them started there's been one thing that stands out as just blatantly wrong, that she calls Mani a goddess and uses feminine terms. This is not in line with the myth where Mani is a masculine deity.

My humble request is that Mani be rendered to properly, as he is one of the only male moon gods in European folklore

(I'm being over dramatic as a joke, but I really hope this gets fixed)
