Any unknown mechanic to share?

$

Do you know any game mechanic that could not be very popular, you use for your advantage and could let us know?

For example: If you feed a pig x4 monster meat and kill it, you get 2x meat and 1x pig skin; two out of three ingredients to prototype hambat, also, you can repeat the process to get pig skin without destroying pig houses.

Can we make a petition for Klei to let us disable INSANITY sound effects? (PART 2)

I don't know why my old thread got archived but since i cant post in it anymore i decided to make a part 2.

Link to original thread:

In the old thread a developer said they are going to rework the insanity effects i'd like to ask if theres been any new information on this? Becoming insane in this game is still a very annoying ordeal just because of the sound effect alone.

I think the visual effect itself is completely enough to make you want to become sane but the sound effect literally drives me crazy to the point where the game is no longer enjoyable.

So i ask again, can we please get an option to disable the ringing insanity sound effect?

Had no idea Wigfrid was so powerful

Used to always play WX what with 400 hp.    Switched to Wigfrid and wow, can solo dragonfly with 1 body armor, the rest helmets.    Easy to dispatch Moose Goose as well and of course Bearger and Deerclops.   Klaus was easy as well.   Toad is another matter, needed help on that.

Proposed Farming buff (up for discussion)

$

Main idea:

Farm crops are worse than bush crops (the ones that come from their corresponding plant, such as berry and stone fruit bushes). The latter ones only have to be planted once to keep producing fruit and only require periodic refertilization. They only need to be dug with shovel to be moved somewhere else. Farm crops require farm plots to grow and have to be replanted after every harvest and additional structure to get seeds (birdcage), making them absolutely inferior to bush crops in every way despite being harder to get. I hereby propose a buff to make farm plots actually worth making.

Primary goals:

1. Farms don’t have to be replanted after every harvest.
2. Birdcage is not necessary to keep farms going (but is nice to have to quickly multiply amount of seeds).
3. Farms no longer lose crop seed because of withering.

Solution:
Once seed is planted, it stays in the farm plot after harvest. As soon as you harvest the crop, it begins growing again. If regular seed was planted, it instantly rolls the chance of being specific crop and produces same crop after every harvest. Planting regular seeds and digging them afterwards is the way of getting specific seeds without having to wait until it grows.

Withering:
Farm crops turn into withered state in 3 cases:
1. Summer heat.
2. Farm runs of uses (has to be fertilized)
3. Lack of natural light.

Withered plant can only be removed with the use of shovel. Doing that yields 1 grass and 1 crop seed.

Birdcage:
Birdcage can be used to multiply amount of seeds by 2. Giving a bird farm crop always yield 2 crop seeds (now is 1 + 50% for another one) to make sure crop seeds amount is predictable. Chance of additional regular seed remains the same.

Bonus tool (Hoe).
Hoe is a tool that can be used to plant specific crop seeds directly into the ground after using Hoe on the ground first. Those include: carrots, potatoes, garlics and onions. (Carrots can already be found growing in the wild, but can’t be planted by players, leaving to wonder what mysterious forces planted them in the first place). They take longer to grow compared to basic and improved farms, and once picked are gone forever. They, however, require smaller spacing compared to farm plots and can be used to turn excessive amount of crop seeds into crops for later use without permanently occupying farm plots. Wormwood plants those crops without the use of Hoe. Unlike the other crops that he plants, those don’t spoil until picked. Also, they don't wither once grown up.

Began fighting Dragonfly when Deerclops showed up about 3/4 of the way through.    Was able to defeat Dragonfly (while getting pummeled by Deerclops as well)  then turned my attention to Deerclops at which point he was joined by 3 shadow monsters and dogs.   Didn't think I would make it but I did with 6 health left.

Introducing, Klei Rewards

$

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

The first version of this can be found on our accounts page here: https://accounts.klei.com/account/rewards

In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!

While running through the swamp, I found this square of grass turf with savannah turf placed through out it. I've encountered this in several other worlds and It makes me wonder, does this set piece have a point?

I haven't posted in a video in a while, so I thought i'd drop a little video of what I'm working on with Madriv and Cam. Rep for Cams Bee Area and Rep for Madriv's Twig and Grass area along with all the grinding she has done. We're using no server mods, just the client mod Geometric Placement. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Can we talk about this?

Can we talk about the fact that the reason why Klaus is so hostile to you, is because the fact that you attempted to steal from his stash using deer antlers as a key? It pretty much means the survivors are the wrong ones in this situation and Klaus was just rightfully trying to protect his stuff similar to a player and a splumonkey.

DST Skins Checklist (Updated: 10/24/2019)

$

0

The DST Skins Checklist has been designed to help you more easily keep track of your DST skins collection.  This can be done by manually checking off items or by directly syncing the checklist with your inventory on Steam.

The layout is fairly rustic, but it lets you view, filter, and search the skins you own, have duplicates of, or are missing in the game.  All save data is stored locally on your computer (in your browser's Local Storage).

The checklist is a single HTML file (images are all embedded) and can be used online or from your desktop:

For best compatibility, open the file using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox; some features may not function properly in other browsers.

Original First Post:

Spoiler

I originally made this for my friends and I to keep track of our skins collection, but I thought I'd also share it here.  The layout is fairly rustic, however, it does its job.

The checklist lets you save & filter items based on collection, character, color, rarity, and whether you own an item or not.  I've also included links to each skin's Steam page.

You can view the code, download, or preview the checklist here:

To use, save the HTML file to your computer and open it with your browser.  Alternatively, you can use the live preview link above, but Google Drive is discontinuing HTML web hosting at the end of August; so, the preview will cease to work after then.

The skin images are embedded (via base64 encoding) into the HTML file, so the file size is ~1.25MB.  Saving uses the Local Storage of your browser, so your save will be lost if you clear your browser's cache and/or site data.  Javascript also needs to be enabled to use the interactive features.

Here are a few screenshots of what Version 1.0 looks like:

A thread like this existed before but I'm afraid it fell deep into the archive, so here is a new one. You can post funny, odd and terrible pictures that you made while playing DST.

Here are some from my collection:

Love this one because it looks like as if the third bunny from the right (not counting the bunny behind the hut) is throwing the small bunny.

Hi, I want to buy a skin pack in the ingame store.

DST is installed over Steam, i am running Windows 10-

First I tried to buy an expensive pack, but I did not have enough money in my Steam wallet.

Next I tried to buy a cheap pack, which I have enough money for, but I got this error - attached screenshot.

I already tried to restart my computer, but the error is still there.

Upcoming Content Beta and Roadmap Update

$

Hey folks!

With the Willow refresh newly launched, it’s time for the next phase: new game content! I’d like to update you all on our current plan.

Return of Them
Over the next several months, we’ll be releasing a series of game updates available to all players, under the single thematic focus entitled “Return of Them”.

Charlie’s machinations have come to a head as she turns her attention towards the skies - and the mysterious entity that awaits there. Our Survivors will be forced to contend with terrifying monstrosities beyond their comprehension, and yet, there may be a silver lining: their minds and horizons will be expanded under the sublime light of an ancient moon.

lunacy_banner_lighter.PNG

Here is an overview of what is available in our first update, Turn of Tides:

  • Added a new multiplayer-centric boat mechanic, where players can build and deck out a boat for multiple survivors to travel together on
  • Added a new Seafaring crafting menu
  • Added the Lunar Island
  • Added Enlightenment
  • Added 3 new Lunar Island biomes, along with new creatures, objects, and craftables

For this first update, we’ve focused primarily on building the fundamental tech and infrastructure for Return of Them. Please know that we expect this update to be a bit content light, and over the following months we will be adding more content to both the islands and the sea.

Turn of Tides is available to play in a beta branch today, and will officially launch on June 20th. Head here for more info.

To access the beta see the instructions here.

Wormwood

In addition to new content, we are preparing for the arrival of the next new character. We’re happy to announce that Wormwood will soon enter the fray, fresh from his adventures in Don't Starve: Hamlet!

dst_wormwood.png

Wormwood is coming to Don’t Starve Together on June 6th, and will be priced similarly to Wortox. In addition, anyone who owns Don’t Starve: Hamlet will have access to Wormwood for free.

Warly
For the next character refresh, Warly will be sailing into the Constant from Shipwrecked on July 18th, and will be free to all players of Don’t Starve Together.

dst_warly.png

As with all character updates, Warly will be getting a design refresh and come with new abilities specific to Don’t Starve Together.

And that’s it! Onward and seaward!

F.A.Q.

What about console?
Since console does not have beta branch functionality, consoles will be getting Turn of Tides at the official launch in June.

When is my favorite character getting a refresh?
We will announce more characters refreshes as we get to them. If you have suggestions and feedback make sure to post them. We are watching and we do use that information to help us decide what we want to do next.

Will my existing worlds be affected if I switch to the beta branch?
No. Save data for the beta branch is kept separate from the live branch at: \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogetherReturnOfThemBeta

Will my existing worlds work in the beta branch if I copy them over?
Not at this time. For future updates, we will look into the possibility of retrofitting the new content into existing DST worlds, as we did for the A New Reign updates.

Wolfgang Rework

How might you suggest Wolfgang be tweaked to become more of a team player?

I think a dumbell, like the one shown in his character art, should be a craftable. A character could lift it for thirty seconds to boost their strength, minimally, so they can hit an extra 5 damage or so for a day. It would also allow Wolfgang to increase his mightiness.

A passive perk for him: Wolfgang can carry sculptures and boulders with no speed penalty when well-fed. He is a strongman after all.

Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!

DST Groups in the PH

So I haven't played dst in a while bc I want to play it with my friends, sadly most of them aren't interested. During the summer I'd often be able to play DST with people on the other half of the globe since I had lots of time. Now however is a different story... (oh yeah lag exists too) For a while, I forgot abt playing dst or when I did remember, I didn't have the want to play it by myself. I went to a con last Sunday however and I saw someone cosplaying Willow. I guess you could say it reignited my love for dst again. Anyways now I want to find a way to play with others without lagging or having to worry as much about timezones. If there are any filipino doods or at least people with similar timezones as me, I'd appreciate if I could join a group and just chill there.

Other than that I'm going to try my best to be active in the forums again. Yeet

Hallowed Nights Has Returned and Wurt has Arrived + much more!

Hey everyone! Today we are launching Wurt and Hallowed Nights!

This is kind of a lot of stuff. So hang in there with me.

The Monster Mash:

The cold wind howls. Trees stand tall and bare, their skeletal branches silhouetted against a broken moon. Gather close children, for these are the Hallowed Nights when ghouls and monsters come out to play… and something has started watching our Survivors from the fog.

Being a young and impressionable merm, Wurt has grown quite fascinated by the Survivors and their strange ways. Bucking the usual merm tradition of simply stomping anything new and strange into the ground, she has decided to venture outside her cozy swamp to learn more about these odd scale-less beings. Perhaps this will be the start of a new chapter in Survivor-merm relations...

  • Wurt can spot where danger is hiding in the swamp
  • Wurt can craft the Royal Tapestry and make a home for the Merm King and his Guards:
    • The Royal Tapestry requires materials from all over The Constant
    • The Merm King provides all Merms extra strength to fight
    • Wurt must feed the Merm King to prevent him from starving
  • Wurt can craft Merm Houses and Merm Flort-ifications
  • She moves faster while on the swamp and can craft tiles to expand her turf
  • Wurt is a vegetarian with a particular appreciation for Durians
  • Wurt can craft a Clever Disguise to get other survivors to blend in with her swamp friends
  • Likes to keep Pet Fish in her inventory
  • Strongly dislikes Pigs
  • Being wet does not affect her strong grip

Wurt can be unlocked in the following ways:

  • Wurt is available for purchase for $5.99, in the Wurt Chest. Wurt’s Guest of Honor skin set is included in this chest for free.
  • The Wurt Deluxe Chest is $9.99 and includes the Guest of Honor, Triumphant and Abyssal skin sets.
  • Wurt is part of the new "Starter Pack" that can now be purchased within a New Megapack Bundle for $6.99 before the Megapack discount. Current Megapack Bundle owners will be able to upgrade with that discount as well. The starter pack includes Wurt, 4 Classic Characters Skins for Wilson, Willow, Wendy and Wx-78, a new spear skin, a hound backpack and Green Pajamas and Bedroll.
  • You can weave Wurt for 2700 spool.

The Hallowed Nights are upon us once more!

Players on can once again discover tricks and treats around The Constant. Fill your candy bag to the brim and satisfy your sweet tooth with all sorts of sugary seasonal treats! The event remains largely the same as last year although we did add a treat or two.
