Is it possible to get garlic from a farm? I have been trying to get one from a farm for 121 days now and not a single one popped up.

Am I just being unlucky or is there something else here?

Best Foods Recipes for Wurt?

I'm very curious how Wurt's players will be handle with feed. Having the vegetarianism as restriction  will surely be a great challenge. By far the base feed in the Early Game are meat-based foods.  Example: Meatballs, Meaty Stew, Bacon And Eggs, Pierogi, Honey Ham, Honey Nuggets....

I made a relation of the dishes of the crock pot that do not carry meats as an ingredient, besides values and difficulties to make a certain recipe. Which one do you think will be more viable for Wurt to handle in early game?

Survivalism Mode - A brutal, carefully-balanced modded twist on vanilla survival

$

Looking for something to put your survival skills to the test, rather than just your building talents or boss memorizations? Maybe you've finished exploring all of the added content? Maybe you're playing alone and want to push your own limits, or else you want to see if your group strategy is up to snuff? Or maybe you just want to see who can survive the longest in a trying circumstance? If any of this sounds familiar, here's the game mode for you!

To begin, you'll need to configure (Host) a new world with the following settings (tl;dr: most settings set to Less):

Quote
  1. Forest:
    1. Flowers, Evil Flowers: Less
    2. Grass: Less
    3. Saplings: Less
    4. Tumbleweeds: Less
    5. Flint: Less
    6. Boulders: Less
    7. Mini Glaciers: Less
    8. Berry Bushes: Less
    9. Carrots: None
    10. Mushrooms: Less
    11. Cacti: Less
    12. Rabbits: Less
    13. Moles: None (exploitable)
    14. Butterflies: None (exploitable)
    15. Birds: Less
    16. Gobblers: Less
    17. Pigs: Less
    18. Volt Goats: Less
    19. Beefalos: Less
    20. Hunt Surprises: More
    21. Pengulls: Less
    22. Ponds: Less
    23. Bees: Less
    24. Tallbirds: Less
    25. Spiders: Less
    26. Lureplants: Less
    27. Bearger: More
    28. Deerclops: More
    29. Dragonfly: More
  2. Caves (all the above, in addition to these):
    1. Touch Stones: Less
    2. Failed Survivors: Less
    3. Trees (All): Less

Mods required (and their configs):

Quote
  1. No Ice As Filler - No more (nearly) free winter meatballs.
  2. Recipe Rebalancer (or else if you prefer, Recipe Balancer Overhaul) - Tweaks crockpot recipe values, in particular nerfs meatballs. Fishsticks and Pierogis have reduced healing, also.
  3. Survivalism - Assorted difficulty tweaks. You'll need to modify the config to enable these two settings:
    1. Fatigue: true - When certain stats are below 20% speed will become sluggish.
    2. Wet Rolls: true - Straw and fur rolls can't be used when water-logged/wet.
  4. Working Body Heat - Despite the name, you'll want to modify its behavior with this tweak (hunger only; the default):
    1. Heat/hit: Negligible - No longer gives heat for doing work.
  5. Disable World Regrowth - Similar to RoG/SW/Ham, world growths are not automatically renewable, and some sense is needed to not totally expend local resources.

Optional (flavor) mods; use at your discretion:

Quote
  1. Scaling Boss Difficulty - Adjusts bosses, either to be harder or else less annoyingly tedious to kill (your preference).
    1. Recommended: Reduce each value by 1 or 2 button clicks, unless you're playing this with lots of people who know what they're doing.
  2. Show Me (Origin) - Displays stats on monsters, foods, tools, etc. Recommend these settings tweaks (feel free to add your own):
    1. Food Style: Short
    2. Show Food Units: Yes
  3. Better blood-over - Shows a bloody overlay if you're low on health.
  4. Smarter Crock Pot - Takes all the magic and wonder out of blinding throwing away ingredients guessing at recipes without a wiki, an open spreadsheet, or else a million hours to expend at trial and error.
  5. Wormhole Icons [Fixed] - Labels matched wormhole sets by color. There may be other (better) mods for this function, but I haven't researched them fully.
  6. Thirsty for Tea - Adds a 4th stat to look out for: Thirst. I haven't gotten to play it yet, but this was recommended by CaptainChaotica.
  7. Actual Season Length Randomizer - "Causes season lengths to shuffle every year to give the true random season length experience." Also haven't yet tried it, but recommended by CaptainChaotica.
  8. Caloric Countdown - Gradually increases hunger drain over time. Use this mod if you're not fighting for an endless survival state, but instead just want to see how long you last against ever increasing odds. Or maybe you think you can build up enough to survive against even starvation itself? Recommended setting (feel free to tailor):
    1. Hunger Growth Rate: Logrhythmic

Brutal Mode

Does this still seem too soft? The following settings tweak will force you to plunge into the deep dark earth to fight cave spiders for your silk. No cheap and easy spider nest grinding to your heart's content. Note: Webber may negate this; recommend avoiding him, or else just his spider nests.

Quote

Forest and Caves:

  1. Spiders: None

Problem with force attack modifier

Hello. I am left handed so I rebing w,a,s,d to numpad 8,4,5,6. and F to numpad+. I have rebinded the force attack modifier to right Ctrl. When I hold down the right Ctrl and press numpad +, nothing happens. I still can hold down the Ctrl and click with mouse to attack a butterfly for example though. But butterflies move too quickly and it's hard to click them, most often I click behind them on the ground and my character moves towards them and they run away. This is mildly frustrating. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hallowed Nights Has Returned and Wurt has Arrived + much more!

Hey everyone! Today we are launching Wurt and Hallowed Nights!

This is kind of a lot of stuff. So hang in there with me.

The Monster Mash:

The cold wind howls. Trees stand tall and bare, their skeletal branches silhouetted against a broken moon. Gather close children, for these are the Hallowed Nights when ghouls and monsters come out to play… and something has started watching our Survivors from the fog.

Being a young and impressionable merm, Wurt has grown quite fascinated by the Survivors and their strange ways. Bucking the usual merm tradition of simply stomping anything new and strange into the ground, she has decided to venture outside her cozy swamp to learn more about these odd scale-less beings. Perhaps this will be the start of a new chapter in Survivor-merm relations...

  • Wurt can spot where danger is hiding in the swamp
  • Wurt can craft the Royal Tapestry and make a home for the Merm King and his Guards:
    • The Royal Tapestry requires materials from all over The Constant
    • The Merm King provides all Merms extra strength to fight
    • Wurt must feed the Merm King to prevent him from starving
  • Wurt can craft Merm Houses and Merm Flort-ifications
  • She moves faster while on the swamp and can craft tiles to expand her turf
  • Wurt is a vegetarian with a particular appreciation for Durians
  • Wurt can craft a Clever Disguise to get other survivors to blend in with her swamp friends
  • Likes to keep Pet Fish in her inventory
  • Strongly dislikes Pigs
  • Being wet does not affect her strong grip

Wurt can be unlocked in the following ways:

  • Wurt is available for purchase for $5.99, in the Wurt Chest. Wurt’s Guest of Honor skin set is included in this chest for free.
  • The Wurt Deluxe Chest is $9.99 and includes the Guest of Honor, Triumphant and Abyssal skin sets.
  • Wurt is part of the new "Starter Pack" that can now be purchased within a New Megapack Bundle for $6.99 before the Megapack discount. Current Megapack Bundle owners will be able to upgrade with that discount as well. The starter pack includes Wurt, 4 Classic Characters Skins for Wilson, Willow, Wendy and Wx-78, a new spear skin, a hound backpack and Green Pajamas and Bedroll.
  • You can weave Wurt for 2700 spool.

wurt_collection.png

The Hallowed Nights are upon us once more!

Players on can once again discover tricks and treats around The Constant. Fill your candy bag to the brim and satisfy your sweet tooth with all sorts of sugary seasonal treats! The event remains largely the same as last year although we did add a treat or two.

Free spooky costumes are also available for a limited time, so enjoy them before the event ends and they go back from whence they came!

That's not all. During Hallowed Nights, we have increased the drop chance of Hallowed Nights items, so be on the look-out for these rare items and snag them all while you can!

A new set of Survivors receive Hallowed Nights disguises and you can also get last year's Hallowed Collection for 50% off until November 7th.

hallowed_survivors_p2.png

The new Hallowed Nights Survivors Chest Pt. II is available for $9.99. The Complete Hallowed Nights Bundle is also available and includes everything in the Hallowed Collection 1 and 2.

As always, they can also be crafted with Spool or found as drops in-game.

Login Bonus

We will be added a Loyal login bonus item for all players during Hallowed Nights, Simply login and claim the Rusted Scythe.

pickaxe_scythe.png

New Streaming Drops!

We have a special Hallowed Nights themed item set that you can get during Hallowed Nights. You can find more information about these items over here

coldfirepit_teeth.png

And that's it for now.

The next Return of Them beta update "Hook, Line and Inker" should release early November. But as always, that is an estimate and things could change, expect more details about a week before release.

Till next time!

Wurt / Hallowed Nights - 375804
Bug Fixes

  • Added a new retrofitting pass for worlds that have under 5 Cookie Cutter spawners or under 20 Salt Formations.
  • Improved how boat collisions are resolved
  • Fossil Fragments no longer sink in the ocean
  • Music volume increased for most musical cues

Change for OSX dedicated servers

  • As we prepare to support Apple’s notarization process, the executable now needs to be launched from the Contents/Resources directory.
  • If you use a script to launch a dedicated server on OSX, the executable now needs to be launched from 'dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer.app/Contents/Resources' instead of 'Contents/MacOS'. The server launch script posted in step “3. Create the script that will run the servers.” at (https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/64687-dedicated-server-quick-setup-guide-mac-os-x/) has been updated with the latest changes.
  • Also note that the legacy preconfigured launch scripts that used to be in 'Contents/MacOS/scripts' are now in 'Contents/Resources/scripts'.

Fruits

  • All of the fruits has fruit value of 1, the exception is Berries, Juicy Berries and Lesser Glow Berry which has fruit value of 0.5.
  • It is worth mentioning that some items are still considered as fruit in game, even though it may not be so obvious for new players: Glow Berry
  • Cooked versions of every fruit, if such exist, has identical fruit value as its raw counterpart.
  • Wurts recevies 1.33 times more hunger from eating fruits, and 1.6 times more hunger from eating Durain/Extra Smelly Durian than any other character
  • Durian/Extra Smelly Durian both gives 40 (25 * 1.6 bonus) hunger but also lowers sanity by 5. Raw Durian lowers health by 3, cook it to remove this penalty.

Veggies

  • All of the veggies has veggie value of 1, the exception is Red Cap, Blue Cap, Green Cap and Cactus Flower which has veggie value of 0.5.
  • It is worth mentioning that some items are still considered as veggie in game, even though it may not be so obvious for new players: Toma Root, Lichen, Cactus Flesh, Ripe Stone Fruit.
  • Cooked versions of every veggie, if such exist, has identical veggie value as its raw counterpart.
  • Cactus, Lichen and Stone Fruit  still produce their products in winter unlike every other plants
  • Try using Merms to help you hunt down heated Salamanders to get valuable Dragon Fruit
  • Wurts recevies 1.33 times more hunger from eating veggies (including kelp and its versions) than any other character
  • Pumpkin/Hot Pumpkin gives whooping 37.5 hunger, avoid using it for crock pot dishes when you need hunger
  • Eggplant/Braised Eggplant gives 25 hunger, similar to Corn, Roasted Potato and Cooked Asparagus.
  • Bonus: Braised Eggplant, Roasted Potato and Roasted Toma Root also heals for 20 health. Think twice before using those in crock pot since the sum of stats of dish sometimes may not exceed the sum of stats gained from individual ingredients.
  • Rest of the veggies usually gives 9.375 and 12.5 hunger, those will mostly yield crock pot dishes with positive stat gain

Eggs and Meats

  • Assuming Wurt wont be able to consume meat of all kind, she can easily convert to Eggs using Bird Cage with any bird trapped inside. Recipes that excludes meat fillers, most of the time does not limit eggs usage as a filler. However most of the recipes that accept Eggs as a filler, also accepts cheap inedible resources like Twigs as filler, so better leave that eggs for Pierogi
  • Tallbird Egg has value of 3, Egg has value of 1
  • You can still put meat to Crock Pot and produce non-meat dishes, given that you don't use more than 1 monster tag (coming from meat or durian). Those dishes includes: Mandrakes Soup, Pumpkin Cookies, Stuffed Eggplant, Waffles, Jellybeans and Powdercake.
  • Cooked versions of every egg, if such exist, has identical egg value as its raw counterpart.

Dairy and Sweeteners

  • Butter is rare resource that when eaten gives 40 health and 25 hunger
  • Butter and Electric Milk has value of 1 Dairy
  • Honey and Honeycomb has value of 1 Sweetener, Royal Jelly has value of 3
  • Royal Jelly a boss item is better used for making Jellybeans, however eaten raw gives decent stats of 20 health and 25 hunger
  • Honey is easily farmed resources that can be amassed very quickly. One portion gives you 3 health and 9.375 hunger, but since it has very long shelf life and you will end up having a lot of it, consider Honey as your second grade snack food.

Other

There are many other edible items, but since they not necessarily fit into above categories I will list them here.

  • Butterfly Wings very easy to get all year round, except winter. Each piece restores 8 health and 9.375 hunger. It can also be used as a filler in every Crock Pot dish, and is needed for Butter Muffin dish
  • Roasted Birchnut restores 1 health and 9.375 hunger upon consumption. It can also be used as a filler in every Crock Pot dish, and is needed for Trial Mix dish. Cutting down  third level Birchnut trees in Autumn rewards two Birchnuts
  • Kelp Fronds gathered on the sea can be dried on Drying Rack to give you light snack that restores 10 sanity and 9.375 hunger
  • Glommer's Goop can be eaten for nice 40 health and 9.375 hunger, but it also lowers sanity by whooping 50 points.

Wurt's Speech and Inflection

BALLOONS_EMPTY = "Looks chewy, florp.",
WES_GHOST = "Look paler than usual, florp.",
THULECITE = "Looks weird, florp...",
ANCIENT_ALTAR = "Look real old.",

As you can see, Wurt is extremely inconsistent in her grammar mistakes. Is that to be considered a bug, or a """design choice"""?

Honestly, I wish she'd not make any grammar mistakes, and instead use unusual sentence structure, or "florpify" her words. It reads a bit as if Klei forgot how to make unique character speech.

Bug with Wurt...I think

Hello!

I am really enjoying the new DST update, but I have noticed a little bug or something. Wurt will say her speech line or string, but, like Wes, she doesn't make any sound at all. Is she supposed to have an instrument voice, or is this intentional?

With the halloween update Klei added to the Mad Scientist Lab "Lunar Experiment" which gives you steeped lunar essence. Now using this essence allows you to mutate entities from the normal constant into lune island plants/animals.

So far I've found out you can turn: Carrots into Carrat

                                                       Flowers into Lune trees

                                                       Saplings into Lune island saplings

                                                       Butterflies into Moths

                                                       Dragon fruits into Salamanders

                                                       Hounds into Horror hounds

                                                       Pengulls into Moonrock pengulls

                                                       Spiders into Shattered spiders

and that's it for now, if someone else manages to find what turns into Anenemy or Stone fruit bushes I would be very interested in what that is. So far I've tried turning tooth traps, bramble traps(the one wormwood makes),bee mines, bird traps and normal traps into the Anenemy and for the Stone fruit bushes I tried normal bushes, the tropical variant of the berry bushes, banana trees and juicy berries.

First off im tooootally in love with this new Wicker head *_*

in game though it seems there might be a glitch? the front looks awesome but the back seems to be missing the hair underneath the veil and it meshes strangely with the torso:

Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!

I'll start
