Hi. 

So, i used the trade inn system to change 9 commons skins and i got a spiffy sleeveless blouse. I thought that the trade inn system just allowed you to change 9 skins into one skin of the level above (so, in this case, it should be classy). Does the rules changed ? Or maybe my thoughts were fake news.

Hello everyone! =)

I think they are very pretty but I almost never used them because they are completely useless in game =(. 

I mean... Will you ever wear an amazing in-game hat that gives you nothing than be so cool? 

I guess that the critters appers like a sort of beta right now, in my opinion they could have some more impactful traits. I dunno, maybe something like Scrappy Varglings could give you bonus damage when hitting monster or the Playful Kittykit could give a little sanity aura? 

So my question again... What do you think about Critters?

I think they could be amazing but right now they are... Meh

Ruins turfs - can I make them diggable? [not craftable, I have that mod]

I like finding and gathering fancy turfs. I can't find any mod that would make Ruins turfs work the same as normal ones where they wouldn't disappear after digging. Is there something like that? Or some option in files/console/whatever?

This is another important question I couldn't fit in the poll.

Would you like to be able to play in your worlds regardless if it's an online or offline world and regardless if you're connected to the internet or not and would you like to be able to swap your offline world into an online world then your friends can come and play with you?

Server 350+ days probably lost (need help)

Hi, I've had a server for 350+ days, but it's not there anymore. North was pretty old, I created it at the end of 2017. The game was still on the same computer. I haven't played this server for a long time because I'm on beta. The server does not have a cave and is offline because at that time I did not know that the caves are: D. Is it possible that the server would lose some error when converting the game from beta to vanilla and vice versa? Can I recover my server?
(English is not my native language so excuse me for mistakes)

World Seeds Mod! - Generate worlds with custom world seeds

I have been hard at work implementing a highly requested feature, world seeds!
now you can set world seeds from the world gen options screen, and generate the exact same world over and over again.

Here is the rundown on world seeds:
Forest and Cave worlds can have unique seeds; you can set world seeds before generating your world/view existing world seeds here:worldseeds.thumb.png.22093cbd190f68985c6e7a23e7cfbb7b.png

Sadly, due to a(now patched) bug, worlds generated on versions before Game Update 369546 cannot be reproduced with world seeds.
To let you know if this is the case, worlds generated before that version will show you this:

You can still view the world seed by viewing the debug console log(hitting the tilde key (`) which can generally be found right below the "Esc" key)
But, you won't get an identical world when using that seed.

Inside the world, the server actions menu(that can be accessed by holding tab) has a new option:

This option will cause the world to generate anew, but using the exact same seed as the current world.
This will generate an identical world except under the following conditions:

  • The world was generated before Game Update 369546.
  • Worldgen has been updated since you generated that world(either a mod or a game update)

Regenerate World will cause a new random seed to be used.
It's not currently feasible to allow you to enter a custom seed from that menu when regenerating a world, sorry.

World seeds should be compatible with all worldgen mods(obviously, when you generate a world with a worldgen affecting mod, the seed will result in a different world than the exact same seed generating a world without any worldgen mods), if ever a mod doesn't generate an identical world, tell me about it, and I can work with the mod creator to fix it.

For dedicated servers to specify a custom seed, simply add an override called worldseed and set it to be your custom seed.

To get this mod, subscribe to [API] Gem Core, it has been bundled inside there since it uses about 17(I'm exaggerating, but it does use a lot) API features, so I figured I should just roll it out inside Gem Core. After enabling the mod, go to the Forest/Cave tabs to set the world seed.

Lastly, a huge thanks to Scott Hansen for helping me get the necessary fixes into the game itself, and helping me figure out worlds seeds better.

Crashes on Lunar Island in a modded game - should I bother reporting?

Hey. After around 200 days of exploring overworld and ruins without a single crash I've decided to go check out the Lunar Island. There, the game pretty much crashes every day. Seems to be rather random.

The thing is I've got a bunch of mods active. I've tried to pick rather mellow stuff, but it's not impossible something somewhere conflicts I guess. Should I bother reporting crashes from a modded game at all? I have absolutrly no idea what it could be that only makes Lunar Island crash.

Custom Character Animation Problems

Hello, well i wanted to make my own custom character to don't starve together, i used Extended Sample Character (https://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/950-extended-sample-character/). Everything seems to work fine, but there is one issue. From back view my character's head is too much on right, and from sideways it's too low. I fixed it in spriter but my changes does not apply to the character in game, i mean, when i open spriter it looks fine, but when i turn on game it's still broken. What do i do?

Griefing stories: I was called a "remote griefer"

So, today I was playing on the "spooders and such" server. I was playing peacefully for hours, then I started finishing the map in spring under heavy rain. I was moving about 1 screen far from the edge of the ocean ( since I have the aerial view mod ). There was a guy making a base on his boat. As I got to about 2 screens from his boat, a lightning stroke his boat right in the cheek and set it on fire. I saw what happened because of that mod I mentioned, however about 10 seconds later I was accused of being the reason that boat caught on fire! why? because I was close to it! ( the guy itself was standing right next to the boat )

After arguing for an hour that the boat was struck because he didn't have lightning rod, he started to talk to me about "how i used hacks to set his boat on fire". The whole accusation was hilarious, since he insisted he had a lightning rod and I was the reason his boat caught on fire, and the lightning didn't even hit me since I had eyebrella ( my character didn't even mention that it got hit by lightning, and trees around me didn't catch on fire ).

The argument was later followed by them telling the casual "LOL how old are you guy" and "LOL griefing in 2019". Anyway, it was fun to see people so arrogant that they can't simply accept they didn't have a lightning rod :)

So, what are you thinking about this griefing story? and what is the most memorable story of yours?

Unique Character Crafts, Together

So basically every character in the game would have a crafting tab that's accessible by standing by another players character, like a crafting station.

 

But what's available to craft is dependant on the two characters, the one crafting and the one as the station.

 

So for example, a Wilson and Willow together are able to craft "Beard Bombs", lol. Just think of Water Balloons but with fire. Either one can craft it, just as long as they are in crafting range and have the needed materials.

 

And for example a Wilson and another Wilson, they could either have nothing unique to craft or something but I just don't know what.  But two Gentleman Scientist is surely better than one so they'll probably think of something.

 

Alrighty, just thought I'd share this. What do you think? Any ideas for other crafts for other duos?

 

Also, something like this so you'll want to play together with others sounds nice I guess. Like a Warly has unique stations and such but you'll want to find him and he'll mostly do what he can only do. But if you have things that can be crafted just by being near them that's like another incentive. It's mostly because not all characters have access to certain crafts or abilities. So something extra just by teaming up with others that you both have access to would be just as nice I suppose. Ha, hope that all made sense!

Hey guys, I have grown very attached to this game and so I wanted to ask the community who do you think in your opinion is going to be the next character rework? Since Wendy is my main I am hoping it's her and the fact that Spooktober is coming makes me even more hyped. So I wanted to ask this to see if I'm not the only one who thinks like that. Proposal: The Nameless City

Recently a very interesting project was born: "Uncompromising Mode"

In this gigantic project, there is also a part dedicated to the world gen. I think it would be great if we could have a game-ending biome based on madness, which has always been the hallmark of DST.
I then did a preliminary survey to see if the forum community was agree.

It emerged that about 83% of the participants are in favor of the idea.

I therefore decided to expose the concept I had in mind more comprehensively, and to submit it to the public scrutiny.
I wish it wasn't just my proposal for enrich and characterize "Uncompromising Mode", but a collective proposal.
Obviously, this post is also a suggestion for Klei and how, perhaps, they could proceed with future updates after "salty dog".

Premise

The people who are working on "Uncompromising Mode" are not a videogame company. Any proposal is welcome, but it must be relatively "easy" to implement and inexpensive in terms of time and resources.
I suggest therefore to suggest from which other aspects of the game you can take sprite, textures, animations, perhaps with a minimal graphic restyling. It's important.

The Nameless City

The "Nameless City" is a story by Howard Phillips Lovecraft, written in January 1921 and published in November of the same year in the Wolverine magazine. It is often considered the first story belonging to the Cycle of Cthulhu.

For the new (hypothetical) end-game biome of "Uncompromising Mode" I thought it was particularly appropriate to be inspired by the first story of the Cthulhu Cycle. DS is inspired by the atmospheres of Lovecraft, and what better than the "Namless city" as a biome based on madness?

The "ruins" of the game are a clear reference a "Namless City". So it would be a biome perfectly integrated into what is already in the game's underground.

Description of the biome

The biome should be a desert island, beyond the ocean. There should be some obstacle that prevents the player from reaching it before completing some important goals (in the poll, most people voted "After killed the Ancient Fuelweaver")

The island is a desert and inhospitable land ("similar to the desert of Arabia") in which there are ruins of the ancients. There are, gigantic columns sprout from the subsoil, the remains of pseudoscientific stations, rubble of various kinds, all in the midst of desert sands.

Swampy Sub-Biome: A part of the island has soft sands, similar to a swamp. But instead of tentacles there are tentacles changed by the nightmare fuel and, instead of ponds, pools of incandescent lava.

Dangers of the biome

1) Climate can be set up like following:

Day time:

Neverending sandstorm and hot temperature - thus limiting player movement and making him prepair for hot temperature.

Dusk time:

Sandstorm fading. Temperature rapidly dropping.

Night time:

No sandstorm, but winter temperature - now player needs to warm up.

2) Wind: The wind that blows constantly together with the storm turns off any kind of open fire in a few seconds.
Torches, camp fires and endothermic fires are unusable.

3) Craters: The presence of craters constitutes a further obstacle to movement (similar to the desert dunes in reality)

Attention: The island is barren; there are no trees, no cactus, no cut grass or twings.
Each resource must be carried by itself, player must be completely self-sufficient.

1) Thulecite lobsters: The island is inhabited by creatures similar to stone lobsters, alien entities confined to the ruins of their civilization. Perhaps they were created as slaves. 
They are hostile.

2) Shadow tentacle: The island has a part of its soggy surface, similar to a swamp (sub-biome). This part is infested with puddles of lava instead of ponds, and repulsive tentacles come out of the subsoil and mutated to nightmare fuel.

So far these are the elements that I thought of inserting. Obviously it takes a lot more content to characterize a biome, as well as attractive rewards (certainly the "simple" Thulecite is not enough to attract).
I would like the community to propose further elements to add in this hypothetical "post end-game" biome.

Interesting thing about flares.

So, this is going to be short and simple. Litterally last night I was messing around in a new world and I realised Something interesting with one of the new items, the flare! This isn't really something useful but you could actually set up a basic timer with a flare! Just set up a basic trail of items, (if you remember the burn timer.)and if you burn the start of the trail it will eventually set the flare on fire and act as an alert system! I don't know much of a use for this but it's kinda neat we sort of have our first wired system. If anyone knows anything useful about this, please post it in the discussions here and tell us about it! I would love to know some uses about it.

Speculation for Webber's short

So, for the past few shorts we've gotten some relatively dark stuff (Willow killing all the children in the orphanage, Maman Angeline is probably dead, and the fact krampus was about to commit kidnapping of a baby beefalo)

So for Webber's short I thought, What if he was eaten by the spider on Earth? It's not too far-fetched since a shadow creature did make it to Earth in Willow's short, as for something dark what if Webber was discriminated afterwards for being a "colored" individual and ran away to the Constant somehow? It'd be pretty darn dark but I'd personally love it.

Even better if Webber's rework is in February in time for Black History month, Who knows! Tell me what you think of this idea.
