Did a test with rot, manure, guano, and compost wrap with applied horticulture. Manure and guano lasted 3 uses, rot and compost lasted more. All items involved were spawned in. What went wrong?
Compost Wrap is only as good as rot in terms of fertilizer
Another Warly Topic: Chef's Pouch
From what I've gathered with the people who are willing to listen to me discuss Warly with them for hours on end, one of the big things that seem to be controversial is the chef's pouch. Specifically how to nerf it so it doesn't overshadow the boss drop that is the insulated pack (link to the insulated pack wiki page can be found here)
Some of the nerfs to the chef's pouch are either, make it only usable by Warly, make it ONLY able to hold food (similar to the candy bag from hallowed nights), or even make it only able to hold 4 items like how it was when Warly first crash landed in SW.
However, people never seem to look on the other side of the coin. What if instead of nerfing the chef's pouch, you keep it the same and instead buff the insulated pack. Like I said I don't usually see people use it because more slots are more valuable than insulation, so the 2 less slots than a backpack is a deal breaker. I think as a boss drop it should be a lot more useful than that.
Here are my ideas:
- Keep chef's pouch exactly as it is in singleplayer currently (basically just a backpack with insulation)
- Make the chef's pouch slightly expensive to craft (to avoid making him another Wigfrid who just dishes out gear)
- Make the insulated pack have 10 or 12 slots (direct upgrade to the chef's pouch, while still worse than the krampus sack in terms of inventory)
- While having the inventory space of a piggyback, no movement speed decrease
Let me know what you think of my ideas
P.S. I apologize for the amount of Warly posts I've been making. I've wanted this character in DST ever since I played as him in SW. My first thought was a healer since food is a great source of healing, but with the addition of Wortox we would get another Woodie & Maxwell dilemma. However I am still eager to see what useful benefits he can bring to the team, so bear with my borderline spammy hype train posts.
WormWood should be louder.
So when I first hopped into the game as WormWood obviously the first thing I did was inspect stuff like crazy. But after a while I thought isn’t WormWood supposed to be loud? At least that’s whats depicted in the trailer. Oh ye his carol is extremely quiet for a carol, the first time I used it I thought they forgot to put a carol in.
For me he’s just too quiet.
Wormwood quotes on other characters
Does anyone know what Wormwood says about other characters, like Woodie and Willow? I can't play him on the beta branch.
¿Essential Wormwood from Hamlet DLC should have Loyal rarity?
After talk with some players and friends out there, about the item provided by Hamlet:
I noticed the last ones (RoG & SW) were Loyal, unlike Essential Wormwood. And some people finding pointless the reward for diverse reasons, but I mention two:
1- Some ones preferred a item skin, mostly one for pig house.
2- The ones who always buy the DLCs and full packs of skins to support the game don't have interest on get exact copies of the same stuff, and the spools are not enough convincing.
My question for the community: ¿Essential Wormwood from Hamlet DLC owners should be upgraded to Loyal rarity?
Weird Headcannons
I just sometimes imagine how one character might interact with another and I laugh out loud. Than people wonder why I'm laughing, and dang ain't that awkward.
Anyway, wondering if people do the same thing, and if so, what do they imagine characters doing? XD.
I mean things like,
- Wendy is the closest thing WX has as a friend among the survivors due to her morbid views on life.
- Wolfgang thinks the reason Maxwell is so grumpy is because he wasn't hugged enough as a child. He tries to rectify this by giving Maxwell bear-hugs.
- Wilson and Maxwell constantly attempt to one-up each other with science and magic respectively. This usually ends up bringing a lot of trouble to the group.
- Wes likes hanging out with Wigfrid the most because he thinks of her as a fellow actor just dedicated to her roll, like he is.
You know, silly small things like that. Anyone else here?
Free DST Copy
Hey guys saw the Klei sale, but I already bought most of the stuff on there. However, I really want to support Klei and am just hyped for Wormwood, and have 11 left in my Steam wallet. So if anybody would like a copy of DST or knows a friend who could use a copy, I'm willing to gift you one.
Send me a message if you're interested, and I'll edit this once I've bought them.
It's just nice to give back to the community and support Klei along the way, so if anybody's interested.
Don't Starve Together Roadmap 2019
Hello everyone!
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post here, I’d like to share with you our plans for 2019, which are extensive!
First, I’d like to recap what happened in 2017/2018:
In 2017 we launched the Forge, and followed it up in 2018 with the Gorge. The idea was that we could offer a new way of playing Don’t Starve Together, in a limited-time format. We were a bit burned out on creating DST core game content and this format allowed us to try something a bit different, so we made these crazy game modes and provided them to the community for free.
Every time we launched these events, tons of players came to play, and in every instance we hit our highest ever DST concurrency. We’re super thrilled that so many people came to play the our weird game events!
While we enjoyed the events and are happy with the result, there were some drawbacks:
- They took WAY longer to make than we expected, so we weren’t able to make as much content as we wanted, and it left little time to do things like bug fixes and Quality of Life updates for the base game.
- Because we run the servers for these events, we also incurred the cost of these servers. Those of you who have been here a while know that Don’t Starve was not architected to be a multiplayer game, so running them on our servers was extremely inefficient. In short, even though we loved that everyone came to play, the item sales were only barely covering the costs of the servers.
- We found that it was exceedingly difficult for us to run these events on console and as such underserved our console players.
It has been a valuable experience and we think the game is better for it, however we feel that it’s time that we turn our attention back to the core Don’t Starve Together experience: surviving together.
Here’s what we’re doing for 2019:
Brand New Content
The team is now working on brand new content for Don’t Starve Together. Survivors will be able to travel to new lands with new biomes, creatures, and more.
The first drop of this new content will come in mid-April, and we will continually be adding to the content every couple months afterward. As we said before, we think it’s important that everyone can play together and we don’t segregate our audience, so all of this content will be available for free to everyone!
Character Refreshes
The team also felt it was high time we gave our core cast some love (yes, we heard you). Over the course of the next year, we will be bestowing every character with revamped abilities, and give a glimpse into their backstory. Our goals here are to make each character unique, interesting and valuable in their own right and we expect this to be game changing in many ways.
Starting in March with Winona, we will be releasing a character refresh once a month.
These character refreshes will again be free to all players, and we will be selling new skins for these characters on the month they are refreshed.
In addition, the Triumphant, Guest of Honor and Survivor skin packs will be available to purchase for the character on that date. All owners of these skins prior to that date will be upgraded to an “Heirloom” rarity, with a higher unraveling value.
New Characters Enter the Fray
A fresh batch of four characters have been unwittingly ensnared and brought into the world. These new survivors will be released into the wild starting in Mid-March, and a new one will be released every 2 months.
We are still deciding the final price of these characters, but we currently think they will be $6.99 USD each, which includes a full character skin set. You will also be able to weave the characters with spool.
Since we do not want to charge players for the new world content, these new characters will be our main way to fund development of this new content.
Console Development
We are working hard on keeping the console versions of the game up to date. Specifically, we are investing in technology to allow us to more quickly update the game without going through lengthy certification on every small change, and we've also added more staff to work exclusively on updating the console versions.
We're happy to say that the next update for the Year of the Pig King event will launch within 2 days of the PC version.
Quality of Life, Twitch Drops, Etc.
We will also be continually updating the game with bug fixes, QoL updates, new skins for Twitch drops, and more things that we’re not quite ready to announce yet.
Speaking of which, the Year of the Pig King update is going live on Thursday! Long Live the (Pig) King!
--
And that’s it folks!
In short, we are significantly increasing our support of Don’t Starve Together in 2019 with new game content, character refreshes, new stories to be told, new characters, and new skins.
Thanks so much for playing this crazy game, once again. I’m still amazed at how it’s evolved over the years. Please give us your feedback and thoughts!
Wormwood's Sanguine Experiment
Sanguine Experiment doesn't heal Wormwood, it only applies hp regen.
I wonder if it is intended or an oversight.
They fixed Wortox's carol :)
He sings faster now
Cannot load second copy of DST
I sent my friend a second copy of DST. She said she couldn’t load it because it notified her when she tried to do so that she is not in the South East Asia region (she’s studying abroad in France) from which I am. I don’t understand what is going on here. Why wouldn’t she be able to load? What is this restriction?
wilson rework?
do you think Wilson will get a rework?
and what would your suggestion for a Wilson rework be?
as far, I've heard about some players want him to have a portable science machine, but not much else.
Notes about unspoken stuff: Thulecite
As we know, thulecite is a valuable but scarce material only found in the ruins, item necessary to craft different tools for the characters, once we reunite enough fragments to elobate a more refined version of him.
Besides his magic properties, ¿What if the thulecite is partially from organic origin or from another dimension?
In the nature, diverse beings are capable of make some tools acording to his needs, like the chimpanzee, the otter and the raven. Humans are very good example of this.
But, between the many example ahead us, some arthropods and molluscs have a curious variation.
Honey is a substance produced by bees, food with healing propeties. Spiders make silk thanks to his special glands. Ants are capable of produce fungal farms. Through secretions, snail makes and repairs his shell.

Walls show the ancient civilization getting rocks & gems from mining, but no thulecite.
So, ¿Probably the thulecite was made by the "bug people" or combining energies of external sources (aka the Shadow, Moon & "Unknown")?.

Wormwood's Flammability
After playing Wormwood in DST I found that he was moved over pretty well...
However one feature was missing and after seeing the stream I am really disappointed in Klei's decision to remove Wormwood's flammability. Now I do understand Klei not wanting him to be able to burn down the base by mistake and I for one don't want this either. However I think in removing this feature it has made Wormwood less interesting, it has taken the mind set I had gotten from playing him in single player where I was always looking out when ever I was in summer or spring for smoldering or lightning, near fire pits and burning trees, or the Dfly and fire hounds, to now just being a thing where its just another modded character who takes more damage from the cold or the heat. In DS you couldn't run from the fire but in DST you can. In the end it just feels like they flipped Willow's perk upside down.
What I would like to see is Klei change it back and just remove the ability for it to set other things on fire.
Showing off your outfits [2]
Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!
I'll start
Colonel Woodie of The Royal Canadian Regiment
Shadow smith Winona
XIX century colonial governor Wilhelm P. Higgsenburgh
Severely beaten yet still dapper Wilson
Interesting Wormwood Strats?
So, since a lot of people have had the chance to play Wormwood I was wondering if anyone has found interesting strategies utilizing his abilities or specifically help Wormwood.
The only DST exclusive things that I can think of that are very nice with Wormwood is that you can intentionally rot food with Toadstool's spore cloud, he works well with Wortox, and is able to reliably get living logs for mushroom planters.
I've been trying to find a decent use for both the bramble trap and the bramble husk but cannot for the life of me find anything at all that can't be achieved through other items besides picking cacti and spiky bushes with no penalty. Anyone have any ideas?
A little poll about Wormwood
Now that Wormwood is finally here, there seems to be some mixed reactions. A lot of people were disappointed with how his flammability downside was removed entirely. There was obviously a very good reason to do so of course as no one wants to have to worry about a leafy boy accidentally burning down an entire camp or farm, and no one seems to argue that. It was still a very interesting mechanic though! The most commonly suggested solution is to simply make a burning Wormwood unable to spread fire. That way it still poses a danger to the character himself while removing the potential collateral damage that can harm other players.
I've also come to learn that Wormwood's crops actually start to spoil after they've fully grown. It's not as discussed as the flammability downside, but it seems to me that most people aren't too keen on it either, myself included. I was really looking forward to trying him out, even waiting for him to drop in the beta branch, but now it's a little less so.
So I was wondering, do you guys think that it would be a fair trade off for Wormwood's crops to not spoil in exchange for regaining his flammability weakness?
