First post so it looks ugly but whatever
I have a silly request: could a Klei artist by any chance share the vector source of the "Grouchy Bat" profile picture? I know I could just spend some time and try tracing it back but, I'd really love to get my hands on the original if possible... want to print it out in high-res and hang it on a wall. It would actually be cool if most of the graphics would be available in either higher ersolutions or vector format for the use of posters / frames.
Willow is based on novels about young people related to pyrokinesis, mainly “Firestarter” (or “Charlie” in some editions) by Stephen king:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestarter_(novel)
During her childhood, Charlene ("Charlie") McGee had a teddy bear which she ignited on fire by simply looking at it, through the power of her mind.
Bernie is not only based on Firestarter, he´s inspired by the classic haunted dolls, animated by magic or spirits, who will harm or protect certain persons.
One of the big traits of Charlie is having a strong (but fiery) temper and little patience, always manifesting in her behavior.
Willow acts in this way too:
-"You jerk! Let me in!" (Pig House occupied, lights off)
-"A cone full of jerks." (Killer Bee Hive)
-"Jerks that slither." (Snake)
-"Jerks that swim." (Sea Hound)
-"Stay back, you big jerk!" (Krampus)
-"Hurry up, dirtpile. Feed me!" (Farm, growing)
-"But I want more berries!" (Berry Bush, picked)
-"Stupid rabbits. Come out so I can eat you." (Rabbit Hole)
While Telekinesis is the ability to influence actions in objects with the mind, Pyrokinesis is the ability of creating and controlling fire by thought:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrokinesis
The name Willow is related to magic, witchcraft, to be more exact.
For example the willow tree is know as "witchs´s tree" due to its parts being used as ingredients for potions, and rituals in old times by witches and warlocks.
Interestingly Willow was also portrayed as a witch in her Funko Pops and Halloween art.
"A symbol of stake-burnt sisterhood." (Fiery Witch's Hat description)
In old times, people accused of witchcraft were burned in stakes.
Between 1920 & 1930, Japan started to produce lighters under the brand “Willow”, with different models and decorations.
One of the most popular models. (Looks familiar, right?)
If some of the new characters we get between old character refreshes could be imported from RoG/SW/Hamlet, who would you want to see reworked into DST? Pitching a few ideas of my own that still work off their already established attributes:
Especially for characters like Woodlegs who are very clearly modelled for their respective expansion, what kind of rework would you want to see for imported characters?
Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!
I'll start
Colonel Woodie of The Royal Canadian Regiment
Shadow smith Winona
XIX century colonial governor Wilhelm P. Higgsenburgh
Severely beaten yet still dapper Wilson
Wild idea; remove these item completely from game. Can be in files, but not used in any craft recipe and not dropped by anything. They just not something you can make very useful to be always collected when you get it dropped.
* Nitre (really annoying to carry or leave on ground when mining regular rock)
* Stinger (you know why)
Hamlet has pig skins and pig skin? that drops from vampire bats as separate items, but can stack into one. Some other item could do with same mechanic. Some of this items not exactly the same in nature but are very much alike in use. Moonrock walls then can be make with marble and marble suit with moonrock. It even sort of work because full moon and new moon tied to marbled clockwork pieces and there is marble pillars with marble flooring where there set pieces are set.
* Marble + Moonrock
* Hound tooth + Bone shard (both need stack the same)
I would have been wanting to do this topic since some time: what are all the otherworldly Constant creatures at the moment?
Charlie became one of them after being dragged into the Codex Umbra, apparently queen and malign deity of the Constant;
Gnaw is a hideous row of teeth looming in the sky; celestial tyrant who threatens to release his pestilence in case of lack of nourishment;
The ancients, beings similar to large humanoid insects with incredible intellect. They created a glorious civilization that self-destroyed during some catastrophe, perhaps a disastrous experiment, perhaps they were exterminated by "Them".
"Them", entities that perhaps are shadows, are perhaps something even more alien. Behind the scenes of reality they move invisible threads, all are slaves of "Them" in the Constant.
Shadows, creatures of other spaces and dimensions attracted by madness. Their nature and essence is uncertain and alien. Maybe they are an avatar of "Them".
Nightmare Throne, mysterious throne that seems endowed with a form of life and self-knowledge.
Moon creature, mysterious otherworldly creature with a beating heart, which perhaps exists and inhabits the moon. Perhaps he is responsible for all the mysterious transformations that occur every full moon.
Celestial Portal, like the throne of the nightmare, a disturbing portal of lunar rock, with an alien iridescence and a lively pupil that suggests both live and self-knowledge.
Ancient Fuelweaver, a horrible skeleton revived by the bowels of the earth, among whose ribs the putrefied heart of a thousand damned souls beats. Pray the players to leave him alone and believe that death would be a blessing for them.
Ancient Herald, an omen of the end of the world, its arrival coincides with the Aporkaliplse and the arrival of all sorts of monstrous creatures.
Iron Hulk, mysterious war machine with incredible destructive potential. Destroyed by some unknown entity, it was perhaps built to fight the Ancient Herald and the Aporkalipse.
For the moment these superhuman entities came to my mind, I hope to expand the list and information on each of them!
"They were all dead when I got here."
Hey everyone!
Here we are with our second character update! We have a few things to share, from Willow’s character refresh, to new skin sales and Twitch campaign.
Here we go!
From the Ashes
Every character has their story, and with each refresh, we will be revealing a bit more of their past. See what memories Willow has to share with you here:
Willow Refresh
With the memories of her tragic past reignited, Willow has tapped into formidable powers for her childhood friend and protector, Bernie, as well as receiving full fire immunity and other bonuses.
Willow’s Guest of Honor, Triumphant, Survivor and Rose Skins can now be purchased and are all now available for purchase. All owners of these classic skins prior to today are now upgraded to an “Heirloom” rarity, with full unraveling value (that is, an Heirloom Elegant can be unraveled for 1350 spool).
Willow also has some new items that can be dropped, weaved or purchased.
The Ghastly Attic Chest can be purchased for $3.99 and contains Ashley, The Cursed Sterling Lighter and the Baleful Lace Parasol. The Willow Deluxe Wardrobe contains 5 of Willow's item sets, including the new "Forlorn Doll" set for $12.99
Drop Changes
We have removed icons, vignettes and profile backgrounds from the drop table. These items are still weaveable, however you will no longer receive them as drops. In addition, we have added about 100 color and slight variants of many existing common drops.
Originally we added the icons, vignettes and profile backgrounds so that we had more items to collect, but as many of these items were seasonal items, it gave the appearance that these were being dropped unintentionally.
New Twitch Campaign
We are starting a new twitch campaign with an entirely new theme.
Check out this post for more details.
That's all we have for you this time. As always we will be watching your feedback and bug reports. Have fun out there!
A thread like this existed before but I'm afraid it fell deep into the archive, so here is a new one. You can post funny, odd and terrible pictures that you made while playing DST.
Here are some from my collection:
Love this one because it looks like as if the third bunny from the right (not counting the bunny behind the hut) is throwing the small bunny.
My dear Wolfgang managed to trap himself while being sane and of course I mocked him by taking a screenshot and weeks later finding myself trapped in this too while being sane.
Wigfrid is able to fish in carpet. Who would have guessed.
So, as everyone at this point knows, there are a big handful of tools and items that literally no one uses. Whether they be too expensive for their worth or them being completely overshadowed by others. So, here is a quick list that I have compiled, along with my recommendations on how each item could be balanced so it has a fair shot to be considered viable.
Survival Tab:
Healing Salve:
Ever since the release of Wortox, practically every healing item in the game became useless. The Healing salve is the biggest loss because it heals as much as one soul. Also, butterfly wings exist, so unless you're doing a Winter-Only world, you don't have a reason to craft something that heals 20 HP, since you can easily get 5+ butterfly wings during 1 day of hanging around flowers.
Recommendation: Raise the HP healed to 30.
Honey Poultice:
This is in the same boat as the Healing Salve, ie overshadowed by Wortox, and butterfly wings to an extent.
Recommendation: Raise the HP healed to 40.
Piggyback:
It's a great idea on paper, and is actually okay as an item. However, it's severely underused.
Recommendation: Increase the Piggyback's inventory space to match the Krampus Sack, and keep the movement speed nerf.
Insulated Pack:
It's an item that requires you to kill a boss monster (that doesn't spawn until 1 full year has passed, mind you) so it doesn't have any real reason to *not* be an upgrade to the normal backpack.
Recommendation: Increase the Insulated Pack's inventory space to match the backpack.
Fight Tab:
Tail o' Three Cats:
It has an interesting concept, however no one ever uses this because it's gimmick of removing aggro is a tad wonky, coupled with the fact that it only has 150 durability, despite it's high cost to craft.
Recommendation:
-Increase durability to 400
-Increase chance to de-aggro mobs to 75% chance per hit.
All Darts:
Darts, at the moment, are a complete waste of resources to craft because they only deal 100 damage each, which sounds a lot but keep in mind that it only takes 3 spear hits to do the same amount.
Recommendation: Increase the amount of Darts made per craft to 3.
Magic Tab:
Night Light:
It's cost to craft compared to it's usage is absolute garbage. At the moment, it's basically just a garbage bin for nightmare fuel, and even that isn't effective because said nightmare fuel doesn't even fuel it for that long.
Recommendation: Allow it to be used as a late-game firepit.
-1 nightmarefuel fuels it for 1 day (8 minutes)
-Allow the ability to cook on it.
Night Armor:
It breaks too easily, given it's cost.
Recommendation:
-Increase it's durability much higher than a log suit / football helmet (ex: 900-1000?)
-Increase the sanity drained when attacked (a hound, for example, only takes away 1 sanity per hit, perhaps we can make this something like 5 or 10?
Bat Bat:
It's durability is 75, and considering it's cost, that's so doo doo. Granted, you can regain a massive amount of HP with it so buffing it's durability might not be the best option, so the clear option is to lower it's cost.
Recommendation: Change the Recipe to [2 Bat Wings / 2 Living Log] (from 5 Bat Wings / 2 Living Logs / 1 Purple Gem)
Dress Tab:
Rain Hat:
Right now, the meta against the rain is umbrella + football helmet, which provides 100% protection. This discourages the use of *any* other wetness protection item in the game. No one even bothers using this for lightning protection as the Eyebrella can do that.
Recommendation: Increase the Rain Hat's wetness resistance to 90%.
Rain Coat:
It's in the exact same boat as the rain hat. Doubly so because it requires 2 tentacle spots to craft, for some reason.
Recommendation:
-Change the recipe to [2 Moleworms, 2 rope, 2 bone shard.] (from 2 Tentacle Spots, 2 rope, 2 bone shard)-Change the wetness resistance to 90%. (I did a goof and didn't know it is currently 100%.)
Dapper Vest:
No one ever even thinks about crafting this, save for when you need it to craft the Hibearnation vest. How do we fix this? Make it a discount Tam-O-Shanter.
Recommendation: Increase the Sanity gain to match the Tam-O-Shanter.
Ancient Tab:
Pick/Axe:
It's only problem is it's relatively low durability. The only time you'd use this is if you find it in a chest. If the durability was buffed, it could very well be the go-to tool for everyday tasks during late-game.
Recommendation: Greatly increase the durability (750?)
Thulecite Club:
It's more expensive than a Dark Sword, but it's also worse than a Dark sword. It costs 3 living logs, 4 thulecite, and 4 nightmare fuel to craft, as opposed to the simple 1 living log and 5 nightmare fuel of the dark sword. If we were to look at the crafting recipes, then the Club should practically be an upgrade to the Dark Sword.
Recommendation:
-Increase it's melee damage to match the Dark Sword (leave the shadow tentacle damage unchanged)
-Increase it's Durability to 250 (from 150)
Houndius Shootius:
Winona was made for the sole reason to provide an early-game Shootius. However, if we think about this, that just makes this structure entirely useless.
Recommendation: Increase the Houndius Shootius' damage to 150 (able to 1-shot hounds.)
If I missed anything, tell me below and I'll throw them into the spoiler below.
nothing here yet lmao
I've always been half and half with Don't Starve Together, sometimes I play Vanilla, other times I play Modded.
Now I know theres quite a few content mods for DST, some overpowered, some underpowered, some in between, what content mods do you like to play with?
Note for Content I mean the kind that are usually both client and server required.
If you are a vanilla player or someone who just uses clientside mods, then well... I guess this thread is useless to you then, feel free to move on! Plenty of other threads about these forums.
As for me, I will name 3 notable ones I like.
I really like this mod, especially since Tosh fixed it all up, alot of the items are really cool and clever, and the artwork I feel doesn't clash much with DST at all, I feel the items look like they fit in well.
A neat little biome mod, I like how a good bit of it looks, some of it clashes a wee bit with the DS art style imo, but not that badly, at least the sprites look decent enough, and I like the turf! (I tend to play it with the character disabled, due to my disinterest in character mods)
Sure it requires Gem Core, but this is honestly a structure I feel should be in vanilla DST, I like the idea of a chest that acts as an ender chest from minecraft in DST, it's 9 slots that the player has to themselves and griefers can't steal from! The only thing it was missing was quotes(which I remedied with my quotimizer mod), this is definately a mod I like.
Now that DS Hamlet is out of Beta, we should get a loyal skin pretty soon for its ownership akin RoG's Bottomless Pit and SW's Pirate Birdcage.
Will that Hamlettesque loyal skin be a Pig House one (like image below) or something else entirely?
And most importantly: when will it be added?
This is a humble request for the developers: I love the promotional GIFs that are used to promote the various Character Updates in the Steam Announcement popups, and would like to use them to illustrate the wiki's version history of DST consistently. However, unfortunately we completely missed out on the Wortox GIF while I was only able to grab the German version of the Willow GIF from my personal account. Therefore, may I ask if you could make these GIFs available here at the forums like you did with Winona's? Thank you!
Hello guys . I love dont starve, but i dont have it on steam. As a teen its pretty much impossible to get money in Bosnia, is there anyone who bought dont starve together who dont need that 2nd copy? My steam username is hicmet or hicmettt
I noticed that someone else had this problem of not being able to unlink their Twitch account but I'm not sure it was resolved or not so here I am creating a thread for it. So I'm trying to link my new Twitch account to Klei so I could receive the new skin drop. I previously linked it to my old Twitch but I no longer have access to that account. Now it says I don't have a Twitch account currently linked to Klei so I tried to connect my new one and received an error stating this:
Quote"Apparently you have already connected your game ID with another Twitch account. Open a new session in your web browser (using “Incognito” or “Private” mode, for example) and log in with the secondary Twitch account, visit the “Settings” page, then “Connections”, then disconnect the “Klei Entertainment” application. Finally, return to this page and try to connect your Twitch account again."
If my old Twitch was still connected, I should be given the option to remove it from Klei but that's not the case. Now I'm stuck. I sent an email to support but still haven't received a response yet. I don't want to miss out on these skins because of an error. What's weird is that Klei Entertainment is listed under Connections on my new Twitch account but I'm not really connected? I believe I've done all I can on my part. I double-checked that my steam ID was correct, as well as my Klei user ID. If anyone else can help, I'd really appreciate it.
After all, there are so many baddies who are just asking to be punched by godly murder machine.
Here's how I would imagine it:
- All Hulk pieces spawn in the same way as in Hamlet. Pieces would either drop nothing or rocks;
- To compensate for long walks to put it together and make telelocating as comfortable as in Hamlet I'd suggest putting End's Well somewhere in Atrium or deep within ruins;
- Fountain of Youth would be a separate island, accessible only through sinkholes, and later telelocation;
To be completly honest I don't see Klei ever bothering adding something so powerful to DST. Buuuuut, there are some modders out there who might be looking for ideas.
