I don't know if this is the right area to public this but...

I'm trying to enter into my friend's server, and when i try it, (normal and dedicated) it says "server not responding. please try again", already tried:

Verifying game cache;

Reinstall;

Start as admin;

Restart steam and game;

Firewall Permission.

So around... 5 days ago, me and my friends decided to try an idea: I would create a server, and would use DebugSpawns to troll them, as the other five survived. It actually turned out to be fun, and ended pretty well, long story short. I then discovered something: By using "DebugSpawn "beargerwarning_lvl1/2/3/4" or "deerclopswarning_lvl1/2/3/4", i could spawn in the sounds of when those two giants are about to attack. I ended up trolling them PRETTY HARD during Autumn and Winter. xD But then came Spring. First thing i decided: "I'll spawn in Goose's warning to troll them!" The sound that rings out when Goose spawns, pretty much. But then an obstacle hit me: I found out that since it doesn't have "levels", it wasn't "moosewarning_(something)" or just "moosewarning". I'm now pretty stuck. If anyone that knows a lot about these commands, or can find out what i need to type to spawn in Goose's sound when he arrives, please help me! I'll be really grateful! :D

Would Passing One SW Character to DST be Good Advertising for the DLC?

So something I've been noticing around public servers, that a lot of people don't actually know about Shipwrecked, as they only have DST.

Perhaps passing characters from SW would help raise awareness (and as a by-product would please a lot of SW fans)

There's three problems though: A) A lot of the character's mechanics are dependant on the SW ocean. B) A lot of the character designs and personality's are dependant on the ocean and tropical setting (it's a bit odd seeing a Monkey run around in the woods). C) DS and DST should be different enough to warrant buying both games.

But what if you had only one character and like re-worked a lot to make him different from SW and fit into DST. I think Woodlegs would be the best option, hear me out here.

He's the perfect poster child for Shipwrecked (he's a pirate) and a pirate in the DST world actually fit well (pirates aren't tied to just tropical settings like the other SW characters).

But how would you do Woodlegs when he's all about boating? Here's my rework:

- Woodlegs starts with, and can craft, a Lucky Hat and a Spyglass. The spyglass is a tool that fits tonally with DST and would be really interesting in multiplayer because not only does it reveal the land, but the players on that land. You could spy on and track other players from a distance without them ever knowing. In PVP, he'd be good in hunting packs, as he could help find players way quicker. Also, because the world is always changing because of players, it would have endless use.

- Lot of Sanity dynamics. Gets a sanity boost by being close to the ocean, so player's would benefit from setting base down at the coast. Gets a sanity boost by eating fish. There won't be a sanity drain from being on the land, but his Sanity would be low. Maybe a 100 like Webber, or even lower.

- His Lucky Hat is similar to SW, but works at a slower rate and only works on Woodlegs. Again, I think this mechanic would be really interesting in DST. It's very similar to 7 Days to Die, where you go together in a team to hunt for treasure. 

- I was also thinking that some of treasure could have certain loot items from Shipwrecked. Not anything big though, just stuff like Snakeskin Rugs or a blueprint for a Chimenea. Just give people a taste of what they are missing.

- Quicker fisher. He fishes from ponds 10% quicker. Making him the teams fisherman. 

 

The William Carter puzzles ( And it's connection to the Methues puzzle).

One of my favorite things to do is find out the lore of Don't Starve Together. And while I was browsing through the wiki page for Don't Starve, I decided to take another look at the William Carter puzzles. Some of the discoveries I've made are very interesting.

First, on the fourth puzzle, I saw a blueprint for a obelisk. When you look closer however, you can see the ancient runes from the Methues puzzle. This may mean there is a correlation from William Carter/Maxwell to the ancients. I am not so sure what some of these mean, because most of them are not decoded yet. But, you can take a look for yourself.

The most interesting part though, is what I'm about to tell you. If you look on the seventh puzzle. you see a dim light, with writing on the walls. Some of these writings were used to decode the Methues runes.I originally thought this was some things you had to put in the ancient chest to get a reward, but, turns out there where seven symbols, so that wasn't an option. I tried searching up some of the writing, as it looked like something from another language, translated to English. First, I searched up "Insaniam", it was the one next to the drawing/rune of nightmare fuel. What I saw was ( Drumroll please! ), a metal band! Okay, maybe that didn't really help me, but there were six more writings. Then, I searched up "Magicae", ( Again, we need a drumroll! ) and I found ... Voces Magicae! What is that? you ask. Well I remember the word "Voces" from the puzzle. Indeed, when I saw the puzzle, the word was there. The Voces Magicae is a book which I'm not really what it does. But I did see "Ancient Latin curses" in a title from an article about it. I looked a little bit and I saw some pig humans which were apparently demons, and a drawing of a ritual on a hand. I was TERRIFIED. What if the demons are gonna kill me? So I got scared and never delved deeper.

Some conclusions I've thought about are:

-What if the Voces Magicae is the Codex Umbra?

-What purpose does Maxwell serve with the ancients?

-Does Them ( You know, the thing that seemingly controls the fuelweaver, and is most likely the shadow creatures ) have anything to do with the Voces Magicae?

Well, hopefully you can help, and look at it for yourself, because I'm not gonna have some spirits following me for the rest of my life. 

There is still more on the puzzles, though. So hopefully you can explore for yourself.

Issue with loyal items obtained by redeeming RoG code

Does anyone know how could I get rid of the duplicate of this fire pit?

I've already contacted steam and klei support but each of them were just sending me to others like Klei>Steam and Steam>Klei

If anyone know how to fix it let me know :)

World regrowth question?

So my gf and I play on a world thats currently on day 1400+. We made our world before the changes to the regrowth mechanic. It seems that things like berry bushes and grass tuffs etc dont repopulate after they are dug up/destroyed. This has become especially problematic since all our world setings are on default meaning desease comstantly destroys our plants. Big sections of our map are starting to become empty from constantly replacing deseased crops. From what i understand, klei implemented a new regrowth system that was supposed to regenerate things like berry bushes and grass tuffs but it doesnt apply to existing worlds. So that leads me to my question, is there anything we can do about this or are there any plans to impliment this feature to existing worlds or are we just doomed to eventually run out of resources? We play on ps4 btw so we cant use any mods to fix this issue.

 

Edit: some things to regenerate like rock boulders and birchbut trees but pretty much everything else is non renewable.

I haven't been playing for a while, so maybe something has changed? I thought he always spawned 10 days after the first day of Winter.

Why the lack of PVP features?

Since the beginning of DST, I was surprised by how little attention Klei gave to the PVP side of the game. I mean, if I remember correctly, when they were first testing out the servers, one of the first things the developers ever did was have a Battle Royale between them. DST is just naturally a perfect environment for PVP, and yet, 90% of the focus goes to PVE. Why?

Which got me thinking of so many things that just feel like missed opportunities. So I made a list.

Hunger Games Mode

I mean...I don't understand how this hasn't been made yet, given the massive popularity of it (look at PUBG). Can't this be like a Forge event? Because obviously you don't wanna split the community with different modes and such.

I feel safe in saying that I think people would like this a thousand times more than the Horde mode that Forge is currently. I mean imagine, you all spawn in a circle, weapons and backpacks full of food and items are at the centre. You either stay for the loot and fight, or you run and try to survive without weapons. The maps could be smaller, maybe actually designed, rather than randomly generated, with interesting structure layouts and such. 

And I think it would benefit from being a Forge event, as you could re-design the game so it's more balanced (e.g: Wolfgang doesn't destroy everyone).

Traps

I get why Tooth traps are player friendly. The number one use for them is for Hound shelters, so they should stay as they are, but what about other traps? The Bee Mine for example. I made a post a day ago asking if people use the Bee Mine at all and it seems to be a mostly unused item. How about making this a PVP item? It would give it a use. You could cover your base with them, or use them as distractions as you ran away from a Might Formed Wolfgang. 

And what about new traps? What about a Bush Trap (Tooth Trap + Bush, it's a seemingly normal bush plant that grows berries, but only the player who planted can pick it, or they'll get hit). Maybe bring back the Maxwell Traps? I just feel traps atm are just such a missed opportunity. 

Bush Hat

The Bush Hat should be re-designed to look like an ordinary bush when the player hides. There's no point otherwise! Player's can spot the difference. Imagine how useful the Bush Hat would be when you're being chased by players, if it actually looked like any ordinary bush and could hide you effectively.

Also, bonus points, if it's changed so that, while hiding, players can pick the berries from it.

Forge

PVP arena. Enough said.

Cave Issues?

Ever since the forge came out and went away, I havent been able to enter caves on any server. I did some research and found a post similar to my problem and followed all of the steps and then some other advice from friends but nothing has worked... does anyone else have this issue? It says I lose connection to the server when trying to enter the caves... anyone know how I could fix this?

Announcing Don't Starve: Hamlet, The Forge and other exciting news!

Hello everyone!

We’ve been a bit quiet about Don’t Starve in the last few months, but we’ve been hard at work. Today I’d like to announce a few new things that we’ve been working on:

Don’t Starve: Hamlet

The first thing to announce is that we’ve been working on another Don’t Starve singleplayer DLC! Wilson has found the portal to the origins of the Pigmen, and he’s off to explore their civilization. There may be some bushwhacking and tomb raiding involved, too.

Hamlet will be available in Q1/Q2 2018. More information will be shown as we get closer to launch.

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked Content Update
We have a little surprise for you: Shipwrecked is getting more content! We have added the following to the game as a free update.

  • Crockodogs. Will hound you at land and sea.
  • Ballphin followers and the Ballphin Den.
  • Roe. New food item. Stocks the fish farm.
  • Cormorants. New sea bird. Source of Roe.
  • Tar Slick. Pools of crude oil bubbling on the surface of the water.
  • Tar. New resource.
  • 3 new variety of tropical fish.
  • Rainbow Jellyfish. 
  • Coral Nubbin. Replant coral after it's mined.
  • Ox will produce offspring.

New Craftables

  • Galley and Sea Lab . Make your base at sea.
  • Sea Yard. Keeps your ship repaired on the water.
  • Tar Extractor. Gets Tar from Tar Slick.
  • Tar Suit. Temporary protection from wetness.
  • Tar patch. A sticky situation.    
  • Oil Lamp. Quick lightsource for land and sea.

Don’t Starve Together: The Forge

In addition to the singleplayer DLC, we are also announcing that we are working on a series of events for Don’t Starve Together. DST events are limited-time play modes that create a new way to play with the cast of Don’t Starve. They serve as a way to mix up the experience, allowing us to try crazy new things without breaking the core game. Events are free for everyone who owns DST to play and will be coming in November.

With the Ancient Gateway activated our survivors now find themselves trapped in a hostile world of fire and battle. They’ll need to team up to defeat the Battlemaster’s army and his champion, the Grand Forge Boarrior, if they have any hopes of returning home. Here’s what’s in store in Don’t Starve’s first event, The Forge:

  • 6-player co-op challenge, where the goal is to try and defeat the Grand Forge Boarrior in an arena. The only way to survive will be to work together.
  • New creatures and bosses with their own attack patterns.
  • New character traits for all characters, each with their own bonuses during combat.
  • New weapons, armor, items, and combat abilities to help you survive the onslaught.

Players who participate in the event will also be eligible to earn event specific skins. For the skin system, we are doing several changes:

  • Far more skins will drop for players than ever before (by a factor of 4x or more!)
  • There’s a new trader in town! If you get duplicates, you will be able to break them down to scrap and craft them into event items.
  • The event features event-time skin drops, including the Warrior Skin Set, putting each character in grizzled gladiator-wear.
  • In addition to the chance of receiving them as drops, players will have the option to purchase a single character’s Warrior Skin Set for $2.99, or the entire Warrior Skin Set collection for $12.99.
  • The nature of the skins themselves will not change, they are still purely cosmetic and optional. However, purchase of the Warrior Set will help us fund further content and events like this one.

We hope that with this mechanism, we can both continue creating great free content while also supporting the development team. In addition, this method of funding allows us to provide content to all our players, instead of splitting the player community if we implemented it with a DLC paywall.

This is just the first of many experiments we intend to run, and we would love your feedback! We have many ideas for events, and we would love to know what you would liketo see.

Besides events, we will also continue working on Quality of Life improvements and bug fixes. 

And finally, a new challenger has arrived in Don’t Starve Together, and she is coming to all platforms and is available on Steam now!

We estimate Q1/Q2 next year, but as always, we’ll keep working until we feel it’s ready!

Why not sell DLC for Don’t Starve Together instead of skins?
DST is a multiplayer game, and we decided that we want everyone to be able to play, instead of splitting the community. We hope that in this way, we can continue to develop updates for the game while allowing everyone to enjoy it.

When is The Forge being released?
We are aiming to release it this November.

Are the events coming to console?
The events are going to launch first on PC, but we are looking into bringing them to other platforms at a later date.

High ping on same wifi

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I couldn't locate a technical support thread, and am not running a dedicated server so I apologize if this is a poor spot for the post. 

 

I just bought the game to play in the house with my fiancé but the ping has been so high whoever isn't hosting has to deal with considerable lag. It has either shown ???/223/445 ping. My internet runs off a modem and airport extreme 2nd gen  I have taken the router offline and tried the built-in wifi of the modem (hitron), but no change. Port 10999 is open on my modem already. My internet speed is 150mbps download 15mbps up. Here is a recent test of my speed.

 

When she plays at her friends place they get a ping of 16. I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction to get this resolved. Thanks in advance!

Friday night I got my second and third krampus sack while farming feathers and last night I got my fourth and fifth. I was farming on forest turf surrounded by grass turf with a scarecrow set up. May help others to farm krampus faster, because I was getting tons of different types of birds spawning depending on where I stood. No I did not spawn any of these sacks in either.

Greetings to you, dear ladies and gentlemen, I created this mini-site devoted to the winter holiday and the coming winter event, do not starve together, and therefore I have a question why the general winter festival has not started yet, although it should be December 15. as indicated on the wiki .. if you have other other information or secrets write, I'll be glad to read, also your thoughts about the winter event. Thank you for your attention.

Belongings Won't Reskin

Hello

I recently started playing DST again, and so much is new! Including the curio cabinet. I've unlocked two skins for belongings, a bottomless fire pit, and a navy backpack. I've checked both of the items, but the items don't reskin in my game. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, they can't reskin in an already generated world, or if it's a bug. Any help would be appreciated.

Giant Spawns?

So at how many days into each season (excluding summer obviously) do the giants spawn? Specifically Bearger, as I can't find this information on the wiki and I've forgotten myself since I tend to lose interest in worlds before a day 40 or so.
