Top 5 Don't starve soundtracks?

Hi! I was listening to some sweet grooves and I thought, "what are the best soundtracks in DS?"

So I decided to go through them all, and make a top 5 list. Then I made this thread to see what you guys think are the best soundtracks?

My list would be:

5. The Don't starve shipwrecked theme! (the new one ofc) It's just really cool to hear a different style of music, but still having that feeling of DS in it. This one's my favourite out of the SW soundtracks, it feels so epic!

4. The don't starve theme! (they're both great!) I love the DS theme. It brings out that sense of curiosity that we all have while playing DS, but most of all it brings out that sense of dread that there's something out there... lurking behind us...

3. Hoedown! As a Woodie main, I couldn't leave this one out. It makes me laugh everytime I hear it, and makes me want to run around and get drunk with that beavery power!

2. Summer Jobs! This is the only reason that I like summer. It's such an awesome theme, and I listen to it all the time while drawing or while I'm playing other games. Great job on this one!

1. Ragtime! This one's perfect in everyway. This theme SCREAMS Don't starve. I didn't know what it was or where it came from the first time I heard it on youtube, and I thought it was a nice little song, kinda creepy though. But then I played the adventure mode, and it all made sense. It has haunted Maxwell for hours upon end, and even better is that you can turn the gramophone off. If you free Maxwell while it's off you'll get trapped on the throne, and the gramophone will start playing again, making it the most disturbing, creepy and evil song in the game. And that's exactly the kind of song that DS needs. It's the greates soundtrack in DS, and it will always be... Turning it back on is also the funniest joke in DS.. poor Maxwell.


Questions about tumbleweeds spawners and ruins guardian

Hello.

I have 2 questions:

1) I knew it was possible to detect the tumbleweeds spawners in the desert by moving a structure randomly on the desert ground and the moment you'd get it red it would mean it's not placeable there because of a tumbleweed spawner which you could then surround with walls to farm tumbleweeds. Does this not work any longer? I tried doing the same thing but for the love of me I can't seem to find them. I did a c_gonext"tumbleweedspawner" and it certainly found them, so they are there, yet I can build a structure in the spawner area. I do not want to find them with the console command, I'd rather keep going doing the old fashion of going on the shoreline if there's no legit way to find the spawners.

2) What is the easiest way to kill the guardian at the moment? I knew the strategy with the fireplaces to  get him stuck, but I heard it doesn't work anymore. I am planning to raid the ruins soon and would like to know if there's a way to easily kill him without tanking.

P.S. I am playing in the new reign beta branch. :) Any hints and tips are welcome.

all player ghosts have emotions

so i was doing some wandering around the data looking for stuff to edit for my mod then came across the fact that all the player ghosts have emotional eyes that aren't being used in game .Seeing this makes me wonder if klei was going to do more with them. What do you all think?

Are saves backwards compatible now?

Hi, I was wondering if save games are backwards compatible now.

Every time me and my friends start a game, a few days later a update shows up and these updates are no longer integrated into our old server.

Is such a feature possible?

Is it gonna be implemented?

New Theme from A New Reign

It seems that a unique track was added to the moonbase event.

This track plays for anyone within a certain radius of the moonbase during the event.

What do you want to be added to DST?

DST is a great game, but personally i feel like there is sometimes it's missing something. Here are some items i would add:

 

°Doors/Gates

Could be crafted exactly like the walls (Hay/Wood/Stone...)

°Infinite Lightsource

Mostly a Late Game item, because lanterns aren't that fancy.

°Roofs

There was a post about this already, but i really feel like roofs should be added.

°Pickles

Self-explanatory.

Is that accurate?

Will Toadstool have his own unique battle theme? And who will be the radical awesome dude that uploads it if so?

I just hope we get even more new tracks over time, I love Don't Starves OST so hearing new tracks is always a treat.

Question about farm in caves in DST

The farm in the caves like berries of beebox's honey will grow in the caves while i am in the surface?, I am afraid about my farm don't grow while I am in the surface and all the work plating for nothing. I know it grow more slow, but I just have got manners to do this to protect my farm vs titans, the auto-fire of summer and any kind of annoying creature of the surface.

 

I just ask this because its like 2 servers running DST game, one for surface, other for cave, I am afraid for cave server stop when nobody its in, so the farm don't grow.

Warts and All discoveries! Feat. Toadstool!

Hello there! After just 10 minutes with the new beta (I think) update, me and some fellow chums on a server were able to find out what some of the items and changes did!

Now, there will be spoilers, so if you would like to discover all of this for yourselves, then feel free to do so. Not all of this is set in stone and could be subject to change.

Now, onto the good stuff...

The Toadstool

The Toadstool is a raid boss capable of withstanding quite a bit of punishment (It has 156,500 points of HP!). Players have to find its purple mushroom jutting out of the ground in its own biome and hit it three times with an Axe in order to enrage it. When threatened, it will begin spawning Boomshrooms, which explode like grenades and do quite a bit of damage. It can also plant spore bombs on players' heads, which explode and leave a cloud of spores that hurts to stand in, but the player can outrun the explosion as it harmlessly falls onto the floor (I think it encourages players to not bunch up so much against this boss, lest the arena be covered in painful spores). He also has a smash attack like the Bearger and can also spawn Mushtrees to annoy and get in a players way. You can cut them down with an Axe, but they can quickly respawn again. Drops Rare Blueprints when killed and has its own Biome. If he is not beaten in a certain amount of time, he will flee. Make sure you bring some friends who know what they're doing to beat this boss or prepare to rage at all the resources it made you waste when it fled.

Contributions: @rezecib discovered that players have 5 minutes to kill the Toadstool before it flees. In my opinion, that seems kind of short. Also, the creature can debuff players with its attacks.

The DragonFly

She's gotten a small change, so that when her Lavae children take too long to kill you, they can expire and burn out on their own now. When they burn out, this will also contribute to the DragonFly becoming enraged. The change, I think, was to make her harder to kill and make her a much scarier raid boss now since she can become enraged much more often. I think it worked. Drops Rare Blueprints now when killed.

Mushroom Hats/ Funcaps

The hats come in three different colors (Blue, Red, and Green). Each hat has a different style (A Sorcerer-looking hat, a Sunday dress-esque hat, and a sun hat, I guess) associated with it and they all have a Rot timer similar to food, meaning they'll expire after some time (Unknown if they can be placed in Ice Boxes). I noticed that when noon rolled around on the surface, they began to shoot out their respective colored spores like Mushtrees in caverns, but they died when they touched the floor on the surface. Maybe they can be used on the surface, but more testing will have to be done with the hats.

Contributions: @rezecib discovered (My bad, I think this is going to get annoying for you.) that they can reduce the hunger rate by 25%, make food in your inventory spoil faster, and can periodically spawn spores around 1 per minute. Their hunger rate reduction also multiplies with the Belt of Hunger or Hibearnation Vest.

The Canary

It sings and sounds like a real bird, I guess. When killed, it inflates and explodes. Also, a new feather has been associated with it and players can now make Electric Darts with them.

Mushlamps (May not be the real name)

They can be powered by Light Bulbs (Very clever, I think) and have a small light radius. More base decorations, I suppose.

Scaled Furnace

It heats you up real fast. Unknown if it's a new crafting station or not. Light radius was unable to be determined. Logs could not be used to light it. Gems cannot (currently) be used on it.

Small note: @Weird Wandererand @rezecib both found out you can spawn in a... salad furnace (?) through console commands. They also don;t seem to run out of fuel. Also, Firepits now block Pengull nest ice from spawning within 15 units (a little bit under 4 tiles).

Scarecrow

Unable to determine the effect at the moment. I didn't see any birds get near it, but that may be because everyone was standing next to the darn thing and wondering what it did. Also, they danced around it like it was some sort of God and others attempted to burn it down. It might be used to attract Canaries now.

Contributions: @rezecib discovered that Scarecrows convert any crow within a 3 tile radius into a Canary, and that Canaries have had their loot added into the tumbleweed and Catcoon loot tables, along with themselves.

I tried to enter a cave and it took me to character selection. When i tried to go in the cave again same thing happened, then I left the server and came back and once more i was brought to character selection.

Changes

  • Added the Toadstool boss in the Caves.
  • Added Rare Blueprints to Toadstool and Dragonfly loot tables.
  • Added a craftable Scarecrow and a new species of bird.
  • Lavae spawned by the Dragonfly will now automatically die after a certain time.

 

Bug Fixes

  • Abigail will no longer target entities that are immune to her aura.
  • Fixed bug where Players are sometimes disconnected when travelling to and from the Caves with a Map Scroll in their inventory.

 

Please note that A New Reign content will now be automatically retrofitted into existing Worlds, but we cannot guarantee that this will be exactly the same as using a new Save Slot to generate a new World.

[Rant / Opinion Posts] PS Self-Entitlement

[I don't say I don't like people, I wouldn't play on public servers either, read through this so you understand where I am coming from. Also post your opinions on this if this has happened to you.]

 

So - No one on this server, good, easy start for me day 1 to quickly gather resources. Day 4 comes around, a player joins as Abigail. No big deal, she's actually nice, she doesn't bother me. I find Pig King and build a base near glommer around day 5, and day 6, there is probably 4 more people on the server. I want to make honey for taffy for winter, with Glommer since Deerclops would come for me since I had the most days alive.

 

I come back to my base a few days after day 6 and find the Abigail and one of the next players, who was a WX-78 building chests and putting their loot down and trying to destroy and move my machines.

"This is my base you know"

"oh, it is a really good base"

Thats all I got from them, they just started spurting chests up everywhere, and suddenly I had 2 uninvited guests smashing down my bee boxes because "this isn't a good place to put them"

 

I don't DISLIKE Public Servers, but I hate people who entitled themselves to someone elses base without asking them first. I don't mind someone asking me, I will probably say I'm not sure right now or no. (Most of the time I invite them in if its late autumn since what can they really do for themselves?)

I understand Public Servers are probably revolving around the server working together, but there is a difference between teamwork and players hopping onto the closest base they see to change the owners plans of their base into their own.

I died to a Pig Fortress trying to steal some loot, I couldn't make an umbrella from Pig Skins since they took my last 2 and made football hats. I died of insanity because of the constant rain.

I left shortly after looking around for a Touchstone, couldn't deal with it anymore.

 

My question really is, Do you accept people that randomly join the server early on, and just try getting it easy whilst you put in the work in the beginning? Friends or Friends of Friends as different. They don't "Ask", asking is different. Worse Case Scenario, like with a Willow from 3 days ago, saw me and constantly followed me around going into my Chester and Hutch (an Admin gave me Hutch) and took my tentacle spikes I collected from Merms killing Tentacles day prior. I had to constantly jump in and out of wormholes to get away from her and went insane doing so, for her to then die and ask me to give her a Telltale Heart.

I made friends with a Wigfrid Main because it was Late Autumn and we managed to survive until Day 33 before we both had to leave and someone died on the server later that night.

Any Solution to Solo / Obtain loot easy from Pig Fortresses

Hi - I keep seeing these Pig fortresses everywhere in server restarts, wooden walls and 4 chests in the middle, with loot that I got a glimpse at before I died, like 10 Hound Teeth, 9 Gears, staffs, dragonfruit. Marvelous.

 

What I want to really do, and it may sound greedy, is to try and find a way to actually eliminate them "singlehandely", since the loot would be a great addition to ANY players arsenal of loot, and it would also make a cool place to have a base, with those fancy chests.

 

I found one way which would include 2 players, haunting the pigs into werepigs and having 1 live typically, have your 2nd player kill them, and I guess destroying the torches if you can will stop them spawning. Free cool base! (This way obviously includes dying, and having your friend telltale heart you back to live, having an endless world, or being near a touchstone.)

Why we don't have menu music in soundtrack?

I remember some old topic asking for the same. Someone answered that the track could change during the development, as DST was still in early access at that time.

But now it's out, so... could you add the main menu track to the soundtrack Klei, please? :)

EDIT: Almost forgot about the one where you select your character after joining a new server. I'd also love to have it.
