trio troll who kick people and reset world

Hi guys ,

Maybe most of you have been trolled by 3 person who enter on the same time and kick player, and reset world.

Since klei give vote option, this is so frustrating especially with server which is less than 3 player. I've been trolled 2x on this day, and this is the profile of the bad players :

[removed]

Im an old player,so i wont lie to you. I just wish klei can give better vote option or any othr prevention of this trolling idea since they log on all klei server and did same thing.

So if you guys see any 3 player join together, just do vote kick them immediately before u cry of the restarting world.

Regards.

How can I minimize the lag in my game? this is unplayable

Hi,

I have been trying to play with my friends but when they connect, its just a mess of laggy horror. Even on day 1, you have people rubberbanding around, taking 5 seconds to harvest one item, and never mind even fighting enemies, they practically snipe you across the screen.

I started out with hosting a regular game and we couldn't figure out why we were lagging so bad. I had the other two friends host, same thing. Eventually I created a dedicated server and it still did not solve the lag issue. I'm even lagging as the host, which I have no idea why that is...and everyone else has under 40 ping.

My internet speed: 95 down, 20 up

My PC spec: i7-4940k, 32gb ram, gtx 980,

My friend's internet speed: practically the same as mine

My friends' PC specs: i5 and i7, 16gb ram, cards better than gtx 770s.

I don't know if this is a steam server issue or what but this happens every day that we try, but while we can play any other multiplayer OR online steam game perfectly fine, even unoptimized games like 7 days to die with zero issues, we just cannot play don't starve together and we don't know why.

So I haven't played in a long time and just picked up the ps4 version. I'm intrigued with this item because I'm hoping I can use it to move a heard close to my camp. Is this possible? I was just going to basically make a trail to my base using these, maybe have to hammer the previous one. Does this work or will they return to the herds "home" location?

Ive heard about a method using the horn and taking them to a new location, kill some so they form a new heard and set a new home location. I didn't want to go this route though.

Does anybody have any useful information in regards to this? Agin I'm on ps4 so no mods.

It has gotten old, every single day they try to votebully and regen every single world they can.
I'm 100% sure klei can do something about it and I'm sure what they are doing breaks ToS.
Giving the scale of things I'm sure it shouldn't be hard to find 50ish or more players on this forum that know those names and would like them to be forcefully removed from the game.

If not remove their game from them, or their online priviledges, add a default banlist as a pre-set on dedicated servers and have their KU's placed there, or at least do that for official servers.

I'm clueless of how the **** did anyone think adding democracy to a game would work for anything other than bullying a minority. I've got 400hrs played, 150ish after the votes update. And I can say from my experience votes have been used in a proper, unbiased and justified reason 2 or 3 times in my play time. Most of the time it's people kicking ghosts, which is pointless when you can politely ask them to leave or come to you for ress, bullying new people, bullying people they dont like, using regen to restart a server with 2~3 people playing that's on late stages cause the 3~4 people joining only know how to start on autumnm, using rollback votes cause someone decided to play with dragonfly and didn't work out.

Honestly all that enabling votes did was INCREASE griefing and trolling, and feeding more fuel into turning law abiding gamers into trolls and griefers.

I dearly hope klei will adress this, you're risking killing your own game over some silly stupid decision.

I know there were pushes, before the votes updates, to get votes on. But 51% being set as majority to basically ban anyone or ruins hours of gametime is really dumb, specially considering servers with lower pop.
There's countless stuff you can do, make votes weight more if the person voting has more days alive, for example. Making so trolls can't just dodge votes, setting the default value of votes to off and dumb admins can have their servers be ruined at their own risk. Make so people with 5 or less days survived can't vote at all, that would force any griefer bullying group of retarded friends have to wait 40mins before they can screw the server. Making so when it reaches the quota for accepting the vote it insta kicks someone, so dodging is harder. Exemple: 7 people on server even if vote is 3 people havent voted yet, once it reaches 4 the person gets the kick.

I'm not sure you guys play your own game, otherwise this wouldn't have gotten this far. On some publics servers saying "torch" triggers people to votekick you.

And last but not least, may I claim a refund if I'm unsatisfied with the answer to this topic?

Game was good, now it's ****, cause someone thought it was a good idea to give judging power to random people.

You know what this game needs?

Issue with making game

$

I have never had this issue before, and I have had 3 different worlds/servers with many being over 200 days of progress, but recently as I tried loading a prior game or even making a new world with caves in it, I always get an error that says "dedicated server failed to start: there was some kind of trouble starting up the server. How odd". This started to happen when I did the "anewreignbeta" and then switched back a couple of days later.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? For all I know, I never had any tools in steam to make a dedicated server, as i could make my own games right away. I even confirmed this with a friend, who was able to make games with caves in them. I play this on Steam, so any help would be appreciated.

I would like to get back to playing this right away and I dont want this to hinder my ability to play. I provided a screenshot that shows what happens everytime i try to make a game with caves.

Again, any comments or suggestions would be very helpful!!!

Tips on how to be Courteous to Fellow Players

$

0

Now this thread is not meant to call anyone out, nor is it about venting your frustrations over mistakes noobs make. These are tips aimed more at showing ways of being considerate than improving your skill at the game.

I don't have a lot of time for playing computer games, so when I play DST I tend to hop on a random server and help out all I can before I have to leave (sometimes hosting my own server if I can't find one, which tends to be lonely), and I thought it would be nice to share ways I've found of not being a liability and not getting on peoples bad sides. I'd like to see other peoples tips too, in case there's some I've missed or just haven't thought of. So here's mine :3

  • Don't ask where the Base is Right After Joining: This one's simple, but it goes a long way in not annoying people. Now I know that when you first enter a server you want to know where you can come to at night to cook and spam the /dance emote, but be patient. If you aren't given directions or offered an escort, explore, gather some things, get your bearings. People will respect you more if you survive a few days before asking where the base is located. Who knows, you may even find it on your own!
  • Don't Pick Everything: When first entering one of the many randomly generated islands, our brains tend to immediately slip into PICK ALL THE THINGS mode, especially those of us who've spent a fair amount of time in the single player game. However, when playing in multipayer, one has to stop and think, "Hey, if I systematically pick every bit of flint, grass, twigs, and food from around the portal in a ten mile radius, then there won't be anything left for new players!" Please, be considerate. How can you expect new players to survive a few days if they can't even scrounge up enough for a torch?
  • Drop some Flint by the Portal: It's a small thing that'll help out people just entering the server. You don't even have to go out of the way to do it; if you happen to be pasing by the portal and have some flint to spare, just drop some by it, or make a pickaxe to leave behind so they can collect their own. Heck, I've heard of people making a chest by the portal containing equipment like torches, rabbit earmuffs, and pickaxes to help new players out.
  • Don't Enter in Winter or Summer: Pay attention to the day and season of the server you're joining. If you want to join in a difficult season for some extra challenge, go ahead. Just don't expect everyone to drop what they're doing to help you out.
  • If you don't want Strangers, set a Password: You'd think this one would be a no brainer, but I've heard a lot of stories of people joining servers just to be kicked the moment they enter. I assume it only happens when someone doesn't know that they can make a password for they're server, but still, it's rude.
  • Drop your Stuff Before you Leave: Before you leave a server, it's nice to drop your items on the ground so others can use them. If you're playing with familiar people on a server you know you'll be on again, you can keep your equipment. In any case it's still rude to leave with gears, a big stack of silk, or any other important items still in your inventory, selfishly taking them out of reach of the unfortunate players left on the server.
  • Keep Busy: Look around the base. Does it still need some drying racks? A crockpot? Some farms? Do the traps need to be emptyed? Are you low on wood? Look around for things that need to be done, and if you're having trouble finding something, it never hurts to ask. No one likes a leach.

I hope you enjoyed reading through my wall of text and I didn't waste your time. Feel free to post helpful tips of your own, and you might help a few people become a little more helpful. Maybe.

If you want a tldr just read the bold text.

At Glommer's Goop,  I was planning myself to make a simple cave base near the three entrances of each shard's caves. I was initially doing this on my own until Septic came along. He wanted to join me in my heaping full of fun base building. Collecting berry bushes, fertilizing, prototyping and even the en mass spider massacre to acquire monster meat, silk, and glands. We were doing great on our cave base but not so well on the surface ones especially in the Pig Village. Then we thought to ourselves that we can continue this till the complete Don't Starve year. But the the jerk trio came along and started kicking everyone, putting me first on the list. I got kicked afterwards by just a 1 yes and 1 no. Then stripping everyone to be kicked out along with Septic. Sadly the 2 hours and 30 minutes were all lost and gone again. Then I chat with him on Steam, while I'm being cool and trying to snap him out of his tense, he's furiously complaining about what happen.

So, what those this may ask?? I remember @Arlesienne saying about active administrators in our dedicated Klei servers. What I want is because of Klei unmanning those servers and the Don't Starve Together community are affected by the matter. How about you give administrator powers to the members of the community. This deals with problems within behaviors in every dedicated server. I hope you consider this idea.

DST Skins Checklist

$

0

I originally made this for my friends and I to keep track of our skins collection, but I thought I'd also share it here.  The layout is fairly rustic, however, it does its job.

The checklist lets you save & filter items based on collection, character, color, rarity, and whether you own an item or not.  I've also included links to each skin's Steam page.

You can view the code, download, or preview the checklist here:

To use, save the HTML file to your computer and open it with your browser.  Alternatively, you can use the live preview link above, but Google Drive is discontinuing HTML web hosting at the end of August; so, the preview will cease to work after then.

The skin images (from @Chris1488's skins topic) are embedded (via base64 encoding) into the HTML file, so the file size is ~1.25MB.  Saving uses the Local Storage of your browser, so your save will be lost if you clear your browser's cache and/or site data.  Javascript also needs to be enabled to use the interactive features.

Here are a few screenshots of what Version 1.0 looks like:

Spoiler

Headcanon name for the island?

Hello everyone! I'm interested to hear everyone's personal terms for the island in which Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together take place.

Unless there is an official name I am unaware of, I've heard variations such as "The Shadow Island", "The Shadow World", "The Shadow Realm", and just Survival Island.

Personally, I'm more attuned with "The Hell Island™".

Thoughts? Perhaps even developer input or confirmation? J2TMuO2.png

Griefs and voting

$

So i don't know from where i must begin. For telling this simple. When voting system showed up normal playing is not possible anymore.

Vote to kick its okay some times.

Vote to roll back, - there Don't Starve is ruined , this is not don't starve any more there this game ends:))

Regenerate world... This option pi...of so many players.

Do you know what is fighting Bearger and same time protect world form vote to reset?

Do you know what is feeling when in winter some triple grief coming to laugh at you, in your face and you can't do about this anything just yell back for some seconds.(yees triple grief knows when he can hit -  when in server remains just few players)

Voting made life easy for griefs and lazy players, who in response for not bringing them "resources:))" just starts voting to regenerate world.

here is some tips for play style(sorry my language:)))

"Lets play Don't starve together in autumn" - and if something goes wro... than gentleman's, and madam's in autumn, - AGAIN!!:D

"Lets reset world together"

Will this system continue to help us, end game in winters second day?

Info on the camper concept skins and creepy skins

So... I put two and two together and realized there might be a entire set of camper skins for the cast?

So far all I know is that Wendy has concept art and it's been implied that Willow has been in scouts:

latest?cb=20150414182740

Does this mean the rest of the cast might have scout uniforms in the future? Which would be perfect, especially due to the forest setting of the game.

Also, I was wondering the context of "creepy" skins. Is it the rumored Horror/Halloween skins I've been hearing about?

[DS-DST] Reveal Lore In-game?

$
0
0

From the mysterious origins of the Codex Umbra, to what brand of hair gel Wilson uses, Don't Starve lore is something of a luxury.

To my dismay, I know of a few players in real life and people I happen to play with in DST that don't know the lore of the game. To some of them, it's a game where you die a lot... most of them get bored after dying and losing their progress (DS)... I myself spend time working on my survival and taming the wilds, but on nights when we gather around the camp fire and tell stories to pass the night, most have not even heard of Charlie, save for that video in the main menu where she just appears and brakes Wilson out of the Nightmare Throne... the very threat to their survival, known only as (and I paraphrase) "That woman who was there to free Wilson, yeah, where do we see her in-game?"

All the theories, all the mystery, all the drama, the lore... and some players are just joining servers in Winter, or at night and running off into the darkness, away from the protective spot light Charlie provides you to spare you from her wrath, running around digging up mushrooms... Most people are lazy and have no time to look up the lore... they find the game interesting, but without knowing the story behind all of it, they lose interest...

And so, I am proposing that in both DS and DST, old (solved) puzzles would be present in the same way that DST has the intro-video of what happened after DS... A New Reign (goodness knows I'd like to see the Don't Starve Trailer in the DS main menu)... something like putting the William Carter Puzzles in Don't Starve... the manner in how they will be put in the game should be discussed. I for one suggest playing Adventure Mode and after conquering a chapter, reveal a link in the main menu to a/the puzzle... the more chapters finished, the more links... (forum thread or the actual puzzle)

Also, with what we have now, I still haven't found a good "Don't Starve Lore Explained" video because most channels aren't too keen on spending a lot of time uncovering the game's secrets and lore...the closest one would be:

This might evolve/devolve into a discussion about unlocking achievements, which we all know that Klei does not believe should be in Don't Starve as it pulls away from the blind and exciting survival aspect (achievements give hints... or not... discuss but keep in mind this is about lore).

Most useful characters to the team?

$
0
0

We all know the are less and more useful characters and some of them are useful more to the player than to the team.

So which character is most useful for group? In my opinion it's Wendy. True spiders killer, can obtain insane amounts of silk and monster mean in no time, receiving practically no damage. Silk is super important for many things and monster meat.. this doesn't even need explanation.

I was torn between Wendy and Wickerbottom, but librarian weaknesses are really nasty (at least in my playstyle).

There are other characters that if used properly, can provide various of different benefits to their group:

Wigfrid - Powerful helmets and spear, I only wish more Wigfrids would realize that everyone want their gear

Wilson - Meat Effigy, although it's less useful in multiplayer

Woodie - Wood! But I am still not sure who is more efficient at getting wood, Woodie or Maxwell

Wickerbottom - I think she is the only character that cannot be blamed for staying in base. True base manager.
