In the last update, adding damage to Lunar Abigail's "Attack At" was a commendable direction. However, increasing its cooldown to a whopping 10 seconds is unreasonable. The attack decay already severely limits the skill's utility, and the designer have extended the cooldown to 2.5 times its original duration, further nerfing the planar damage under the guise of a "bug fix." Now, this skill remains weak against groups of enemies. Its functionality in boss battles for repositioning has been further diminished.
Use “Attack At” to adjust position
This is a recording of the performance of Lunar Abigail and Normal Abigail against Celestial Champion II on the official version (not beta version).
Normal
Lunar
From the video, it can be seen that the added "one-second stun" by the designers makes it almost impossible to deal with Celestial Champion II by maneuvering Lunar Abigail's positioning. Lunar Abigail has to rely on the "Attack At" command in Team Spirits to adjust her position. Now, the cooldown of this command has been extended from 4 seconds to 10 seconds, which further exacerbates the already poor performance in the boss fight.
Comparison list of Lunar Abigail and Normal Abigail in the boss fight
Bosses Where Lunar Abigail is Inferior to Shadow/Normal Abigail:
- Bee Queen (Lack of AOE)
- Crab King (Lack of AOE)
- Possessed Varg (Lack of AOE)
- Spider Queen (Lack of AOE)
- Toadstool & Misery Toadstool (Difficulty in pulling Lunar Abigail away from spore bombs)
- Ancient Guardian (1-second stun can prevent timely repositioning of Lunar Abigail)
- Nightmare Werepig (It’s easy for Lunar Abigail to engage, shifting aggro and disrupting positioning)
- Celestial Champion Phase I & Phase II (Hard to maneuvering Lunar Abigail’s position because 1-second stun)
Bosses Where the Difference Between Lunar Abigail and Shadow/Normal Abigail is Minimal:
- Dragonfly (Lunar Abigail’s DPS is higher, Normal Abigail is better at handling lavae)
- Ancient Fuelweaver (Normal Abigail has AOE for clearing Woven Shadows, Lunar Abigail has better survival)
- Eye of Terror/Twins of Terror (Both need to make sure Abigail and Wendy are on the different sides of the bosses)
- Frostjaw (I test it with marble suit and the survival pressure for both Abigail is not high.)
- Shadow Rook III (For Normal Abigail: Rile her up and make sure Abigail and Wendy are on the different sides of the rook)
- Antlion (Abigail takes no damage)
Bosses Where Lunar Abigail is Superior to Shadow/Normal Abigail:
- Klaus (No accidental damage to No-Eyed Deer)
- Celestial Champion Phase III (Maintains distance from CC III)
- Deerclops & Crystal Deerclops (Can dodge their damage)
- Bearger & Armored Bearger (Lunar Abigail has better survival)
- Moose/Goose (Longer attack intervals make it easier for Lunar Abigail to avoid aggro)
- Treeguard (Lunar Abigail almost takes no damage)
I didn’t test Scrappy Werepig because the AI of Scrappy Werepig summoned by too many items is broken. I didn’t test Greate Depth Worm because I turn it off in the settings following our designer’s advice.
Ruins Experience
Lunar Sisterhood III is a purely combat-oriented skill, while the ruins is a combat-intensive area. However, taking this skill to the ruins is purely a nerf, with no enhancement at all. The specific analysis is as follows:
1. It is impossible to quickly kill the cave monkey. This means it is more difficult to obtain Nightmare Fuel, making it impossible to craft Banana Shakes to restore sanity, and further restricting actions during the "Nightmare" phase.
2. Hard to break the invisibility of rictus. Normal Abigail's AoE can easily break its invisibility, while Lunar Abigail requires the same methods as Wilson.
3. Unable to quickly kill big tentacles, reducing map exploration and teleportation efficiency.
4. Against Ancient Guardian, Lunar Abigail stays in place (or 1-second stun) after attacking, making it harder to adjust her position, requiring additional use of the Team Spirits' Attack At command.
5. Against Nightmare Werepig, adjusting the relative positions of Wendy, Lunar Abigail, and Nightmare Werepig is more difficult than with Normal Abigail, and Nightmare Werepig's aggro is more likely to shift to Lunar Abigail.
6. Two bishops: Lunar Abigail's single-target output is higher, but it’s harder to perform “scare” more accurately.
7. One bishop and two rooks: Lunar Abigail is still able to be quickly killed by the rooks' high damage.
Summary
The practicality of the Lunar Sisterhood III skill was already quite poor. In the beta version, our lead designer for "From Beyond" added a one-second stun after Lunar Abigail's attack, which significantly disrupted the player's ability to coordinate movements with Abigail; removed the invincibility frames during Lunar Abigail's dash, notably reducing her survivability; and slashed the damage from 400 to 250, further decreasing Lunar Abigail's efficiency. With these changes, Lunar Abigail offers almost no advantage over regular Abigail in boss fights. When clearing ruins or facing everyday mobs, Lunar Abigail is completely outclassed by regular Abigail. And the designer, stealthily removed the AoE damage from "Attack At" in beta test (a change not mentioned in any update notes, and I wonder what you're trying to pull), making Lunar Abigail's utility even worse.
@Jason Designer, do you still think Lunar Abigail is "too strong"? Let me be blunt, your actions (10s CD & nerfing Wendy in the name of bug fixing) disgust me. This isn't the first time; your arrogant remark during the live stream introducing the Great Depth Worm, "If you don't like it, you can turn it off," has already become a meme. And so does “too strong”. Perhaps there's been too much criticism regarding Wendy's skill tree, and you're deliberately opposing the negative voice. I won't resort to profanity or personal attacks, but if you find my words too sharp and choose to "let it go in one ear and out the other," so be it. When Wendy, who has no skill points, tries to open the Picnic Casket, she says, “Can't always get what you want. Some never do.” Perhaps this can also be your response to the negative reviews.
