I mean its okay otherwise but i think the ancient gateway should actually be a gateway to somewhere.

Maybe a new biome or an area? idunno, it just seems kinda meh..... Any thoughts?


Issues Still Remaining In ANR Content

Yeah yeah new puzzle is cool, release is hype, bla bla bla, but there still are some flaws that myself and others in the community would like to see addressed.

-Opal. The Iridiscent gem, or the Opal, is perfectly useless. Hell, unlike a few suggestions I don't even think it necesserily needs an amulet, it can be just an easter egg gem, but imo it should at the very least be socketable into a moonlens. I don't think this would take as much effort as other ways to make it have a use, and this also allows for more decorational purposes with it, alongside the obvious usage.

-Phlegm and Glommer Wings. Both are also perfectly useless. Phlegm I can give the benefit of a novelty drop for, but the Glommer Wings need a use. whatever it may be, something has to replace the old bell.

-Shadow Pieces. They were meant to have special armor/weapon drops when killed at level 3, but by the looks of it these plans were scrapped. My main grip with this is that it means there's only 1 really viable piece to bring to level 3 for being the easiest, as all of them share the atrium drop. Besides, this means that re-obtaining the Atrium is more boring the following times than it would otherwise be, as you're only doing this for it(The night armour and the dark sword you obtain from them are...well you're not gonna farm them for that, let's say it that way).

-Shroom Skin. This is a lesser complaint, but it probably does need another use. Mushlights and Glowcaps are essentially the same craftable, and given how you don't need that much of them really, another use for Shroom Skin might be useful.

-Disease. Big complaint. We need a cure, or to have this mechanic removed. Whichever one you choose, as it's current form adds absolutely nothing of note. It's tedious to lategame bases, it doesn't add difficulty and it's really just pure annoyance.

-Bee Queen needs a nerf. Her loot is decent but the fight is way too much for low player count games without cheesing it. If I have to cheese a bossfight to do it properly, that's not a good fight. Either make the slowing creep disperse faster, or have her move more slowly(right now she kites you as you just have to stand there and take it), or have her spawn less grumble bees/less often, or a combination of all 3. These 3 fronts as they are right now are horrid.

These are all the issues I can think of. Please, I want to see these addressed, some of these a lot more than others, but all are current things in the game which still feel unfinished.

Woodie and Sanity

What is Woodie good for again? 

Don't get me wrong, he's actually without a doubt my absolute favorite character, I love the aspect of a lumberjack with a living axe. But, it seems that Maxwell has taken his position has lumberjack, even with just one shadow Maxwell is able to muster up a ton of logs without even knowing it. While Woodie has to eat half the logs he chops.

Not only does Maxwell outshine him in woodcutting, he's also able to multitask by both collecting the previously mentioned logs and mining rocks. My average Maxwell playthrough has me at around 4 stacks of 40 rocks and 3 stacks of 20 wood after a few days.

And Woodie's werebeaver does him more harm than good if he isn't properly played, though it's true you can chop down quite a few trees during your time as a werebeaver, that's only for a little time, and that little time costs sanity. 

I'd love some suggestions on some ways to use Woodie to benefit me and others.

Sanity Penalties

Boy, I love me some sanity penalties, sanity is the most unique way to develop caution and worry in Don't Starve (Together), I just feel like not enough things change during sanity loss. Like sure, rabbits and bunny men turn nightmarish, but that's it.

I propose that we get more nightmarish and freakish animals as you lose sanity, like beefalo and pigmen and such. And while I'm on the idea of freakish, how about we get some faces on trees? Doesn't have to be every tree. It could be every select few.

I would just love to experience a whole new world while under the influence of insanity. We've already got the creepy demented music, all we need is some more visuals to really give the nightmares a pop! ( I love what they did with the nightmare chesspieces! )

I don't know, I just thought I'd throw some suggestions for maybe probably not happening future updates!

A New Reign Puzzle - Metheus

With the release of the free A New Reign expansion, comes more puzzles and mysteries from Klei.

The Fuelweaver's 3rd form, fightable in the Ruins, has a string of quote that said "Metheus..."

The user @ImDaMisterL, with his ingenious and brilliant mind, just goofed up the webpage and inputted that there as a what if. What an Einstein.

So far, the code appears to have no interactable function and a countdown has started. It's time to wait, folks!

EDIT: The page updated and now we seem to have painting materials on the floor! Still, nothing is interactable. I'll upload pictures tomorrow, probably.

A New Reign is complete and live now!  We would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who participated in the Beta, and we are completely blown away by how helpful this community has been with bug reports and feedback.

Please note that all the new content added as part of A New Reign will be automatically retrofitted into existing Worlds, but we cannot guarantee that this will be exactly the same as using a new Save Slot to generate a new World.

How to save beta worlds from dying?

So beta mode will be over soon, does it mean that all my beta worlds will die? If yes, is there any way to bring them to original game?

How to move servers from Beta to the Main Branch

With beta ending, I'm sure people will start asking about moving their save files to the main branch. So I decided to make a guide for it.

Please note this will remove the save files from the main branch.

1. Go to Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogetherANewReignBeta.

2. Select and copy the folders client_save and Cluster_1-5.

3. Paste them all into DoNotStarveTogether, replacing any existing folders or files.

 

Klei may have plans for automatic movement of save files from beta to main branch. But for now, this should work.

Tips on how to be Courteous to Fellow Players

Now this thread is not meant to call anyone out, nor is it about venting your frustrations over mistakes noobs make. These are tips aimed more at showing ways of being considerate than improving your skill at the game. 

I don't have a lot of time for playing computer games, so when I play DST I tend to hop on a random server and help out all I can before I have to leave (sometimes hosting my own server if I can't find one, which tends to be lonely), and I thought it would be nice to share ways I've found of not being a liability and not getting on peoples bad sides. I'd like to see other peoples tips too, in case there's some I've missed or just haven't thought of. So here's mine :3

  • Don't ask where the Base is Right After Joining: This one's simple, but it goes a long way in not annoying people. Now I know that when you first enter a server you want to know where you can come to at night to cook and spam the /dance emote, but be patient. If you aren't given directions or offered an escort, explore, gather some things, get your bearings. People will respect you more if you survive a few days before asking where the base is located. Who knows, you may even find it on your own!
  • Don't Pick Everything: When first entering one of the many randomly generated islands, our brains tend to immediately slip into PICK ALL THE THINGS mode, especially those of us who've spent a fair amount of time in the single player game. However, when playing in multipayer, one has to stop and think, "Hey, if I systematically pick every bit of flint, grass, twigs, and food from around the portal in a ten mile radius, then there won't be anything left for new players!" Please, be considerate. How can you expect new players to survive a few days if they can't even scrounge up enough for a torch?
  • Drop some Flint by the Portal: It's a small thing that'll help out people just entering the server. You don't even have to go out of the way to do it; if you happen to be pasing by the portal and have some flint to spare, just drop some by it, or make a pickaxe to leave behind so they can collect their own. Heck, I've heard of people making a chest by the portal containing equipment like torches, rabbit earmuffs, and pickaxes to help new players out.
  • Don't Enter in Winter or Summer: Pay attention to the day and season of the server you're joining. If you want to join in a difficult season for some extra challenge, go ahead. Just don't expect everyone to drop what they're doing to help you out.
  • If you don't want Strangers, set a Password: You'd think this one would be a no brainer, but I've heard a lot of stories of people joining servers just to be kicked the moment they enter. I assume it only happens when someone doesn't know that they can make a password for they're server, but still, it's rude.
  • Drop your Stuff Before you Leave: Before you leave a server, it's nice to drop your items on the ground so others can use them. If you're playing with familiar people on a server you know you'll be on again, you can keep your equipment. In any case it's still rude to leave with gears, a big stack of silk, or any other important items still in your inventory, selfishly taking them out of reach of the unfortunate players left on the server.
  • Keep Busy: Look around the base. Does it still need some drying racks? A crockpot? Some farms? Do the traps need to be emptyed? Are you low on wood? Look around for things that need to be done, and if you're having trouble finding something, it never hurts to ask. No one likes a leach.

Charlie's Sister [Spoilers]

Anyways so recently, there is a rumor going around that Charlie's sister Winona may be added into the game as a playable character. People have been claiming they even found numerous, numerous dialogue strings for her in the code; which have just recently disappeared. The dialogue actively referenced themes such as Winona being familiar with the factory workplace and mechanics, Maxy which was Charlie's nickname for Maxwell - Waxwell - William and that there is a potential feature which gives Winona one free hit from Charlie in the darkness.

Highly unlikely this is a prank from the developers for April Fools seeing as that would just be an incredibly poor way to infuriate the fanbase, Perhaps this may even be a prank made by fans themselves who are all falsely claiming that something existed in the code which isn't. But would like to believe people do not suck that much.

There is a mod for Winona, but it is apparently very outdated and the text strings found include dialogue for very modern updates to the game like the Atrium. So it could not be some player accidentally viewing a mod they installed as a part of the core game.

Would also like the believe if it was fake the developers would step in to disprove it all to save the playerbase a massive disappointment.

 

However the developers are also very well aware that any coding they put into the game is blatantly dug up as it is released, and that their fans are very much used to deciphering vague information the developers leave behind. Having Charlie's sister added to the game would also be a very logical way to advance the plot and hinting to it around April Fools just causes more chaos.

 

Any thoughts, information on the subject, so on.

Moving turfs and regrowth?

Hi all.

I'm playing in a world without caves, and my primary means of obtaining rocks and nitre are to walk bearger through a petrified forest. My recent activities make me be far away from the forest which is closest to the base, and walking bearger all the way is a bit of nuisance.

I was wondering - I have an absurdly big savanna near my base, and could switch a sizeable chunk of it to forest turf. Would that be worthwhile? I would hope that after planting a few (5-10) pinecones in a large area (~200-350 tiles) with forest turf, the forest would eventually regrow to the density seen in naturally-generated forest. (I once walked the bearger over a forest peninsula, clearing it out significantly. Within about 5 in-game years, the whole area went back to being a dense forest, without me having to plant a single tree.)

1. Make sure Don't Starve Together is not running and is up to date on the main branch.

2. Backup your main branch save data folder:
         \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether

3. Replace it with your beta saves by renaming:
         \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogetherANewReignBeta
    to: \\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether

Lureplant farms MAX efficiency: lureplant max inventory size

Lureplant's inventory size has a max (no, it is not infinite!), but since it keeps digesting, it can go through quite a lot of items. Now, the max slot size of a lureplant's inventory size is: 15

And yes, that is the same as the player's inventory, 1 slot bigger than Krampus sack, and much s/smaller/larger/g than a Shadow chester. So yes, bring a Krampus sack with your almost full inventory, or your beloved Shadow chester plus 3 extra inventory in your pockets.

If you set up a farm which yields half a stack of grass/twigs/reeds each time, reading (as Wicherbottom the Witch) once gives you half a stack and 2 reads yields 1 full stack. To get 15 full stack (max inventory), you need to read 30 times. That is 6 books for half a stack of yield per read (not 10 or 20 or as much books as you can read). If your yield per read is x stack (half a stack is 0.5, 1 full stack is 1), then 3/x books is required, and more is too much! Since a reed trap field farm yields more than a stack per read, just reading about 2 books will yield full max (read 3 if you are anxious). If you are worried about items lost to lureplants digestion, then: the lureplant digests 1 item (not 1 stack of items) per 20 seconds. A game day is 8 min, so in 1 game Day, the lureplant would consume 24 items in RANDOM order in its inventory. That is less than 1 stack, and more than enough time to finish reading 3 book to yield more than 15 stacks to max the lureplant out. So:

Rule of thumb: Try to gain yield of 1 stack for each read, then read 3 books.

I feel like I need just a bit more content but most mods feel... cheaty? I want mods that feel like they click right in or fit well that aren't HUD or helper mods because I got them all :D

Questions about antlion and the new update

Because I hate suprises I have a few questions about the antlion and the new update.
I've read somewhere that you don't need ice flingomatics in the desert during summer or to be more precisely at the oasis. Is this true? Is the antlion in the same desert as the oasis? Is the antlion stationary, can I find it in the same spot everytime or does it move after enraged or until the next summer? If I don't appease it while I'm in the cave, will the cave ins (caused by antlion) only target ME or will rocks fall just like the normal cave ins a screen wide? I don't want my structures destroyed and want to know how far I have to leave my base or other structures.


Changing Resources - tips pls

Can I get some tips for managing the different resources?  I feel like I'm always hating the new resources because they seem to just be worse versions.  Can you please enlighten me on what you do to make the most of these variants?

 

Also - Bush hat - how can I make this if I get juicy berry bushes?  Am I just stranded, and unable to make this item?

Mine is seeing people asking "Where's base" the instant they join.  As far as I'm concerned, if they are so dependent they need to know where your base is right off the bat, they'll just leech off of you.

I can see in the next update a portal after fuelweaver is beat and opens up with quote "the light is no match for the dark" and you have to use iridescent gem to open it up and all your friends can enter and there is Charlie sitting in her throne *dramatic music playing* dun dududun dun dududun* and she starts spreading fire everywhere with her hands and summoning tier 2/3 shadow rooks etc and in order for her to become good again you must cover the room in flowers and roses and potted succulents and potted ferns and the darkness in her then lights the flowers on fire but her dark side slowly fades away *dramatic music* dun dududun * dun dududun * and everyone is on fire and the light inside her begins to show (starts to estinguish fires) and spawn in friendly mobs to help BUT NO her darkness comes back and it starts pouring rain then all of a sudden is frog raining then it's summer your overheating !!! *METEOR SHOWER in effect*! Du dududun * BUT NO HER GOODNESS SHINES AND SHE BREAKS AWAY FROM THE EVIL THRONE AND SHES ABOUT TO TAKE HER FIRSR STEP *****BAM GAME CANT HANDLE ALL THE LAGG - GAME CRASHES **** Caves reset day 1 gg 

Do I need to make a dedicated server?

So ehm I am not sure on how to make a dedicated server because i don't understand every word there is in the guide. And I keep getting something like this:

Icall it the ,,Day 1 bug". On the Bug Tracker no one helped me with this so i guess I'm doing something wrong. That's why I'm asking if maybe it's because I don't have a dedicated server
