Decorations, Shrines and Base Designs

$

Hey everyone! My love for designing is thriving and I've been feeling inspired lately and really wanted a place to share some of the things I've been working on. I love making shrines and designs in worlds whether it's big or small, and adding cute little details to them as well. Most of what I do isn't practical and is purely for decoration.

I was originally posting screenshots of my base on this thread:

But I feel as though my style of basing has evolved into something that cannot be categorized as tidy and I wanted to start a different thread that was for bases/worlds more on the ornamental side like mine. Plus I feel far more comfortable and way less anxious being annoying and posting heaps on my own thread than I do spamming someone else's *nervous laugh* ^-^'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a few shrines I worked on last month:

Moon Stone Shrine

Don't think I'll ever be able to do the Moon Stone event ever again because I'll never be able to get a pig so perfectly back in that spot like that ahah, worth it.

Klaus Shrine/Arena

We found every Klaus spawner and plugged them with a firepit except this one, now he only ever spawns here and we fight him on the cobble stone bit to the right. This area doubles as a shrine and a fighting arena, I love it ^-^

Hi to my lovely Wes @Warlockadamm <3

That's all I'm going to post for now but I'll probably be posting here quite often so yeh ^-^'

Ice Flingomatic is not a Perfect Machine! [In-depth Mechanics]

$
0
0

The ice flingomatic is the only machine in the Constant that can water plants and put out fire on land. For regular use, you may think that it works really well. However, for heavy-duty use, you will realize that it is in fact, an imperfect machine.

In a set up that I made (inspired by others), which I call the ‘Endless Fire’, I discovered that the ice flingomatic has 4 quirks that is not talked about or discussed anywhere (or there is but I can’t find it).

1. Inconsistent AoE
The AoE of snowballs that put of fire, is in fact, non-consistent. The radius can be slighter larger or slighter lower. Current suspect is that the maximum and minimum splash radius is +- 1 point of geometric placement space.

2. Irregular Power
The power is the degree of temperature that the snowball projectile cools down. This is also irregular. In the set-up, the flingo can bring down the same fuel stacks to smoldering temperature and sometimes completely douse the fuel stacks to non-smoldering temperature.
Remark: I have less confidence in this claim because it can also be related to fire spread mechanics and the accumulated latent heat of objects.

3. Inconsistent Initiation Speed
The ice flingomatic actually has 2 modes of initiation before throwing the snowball projectile.

Mode 1 ( Normal Speed )
The flingo spins clockwise 2.5 turns, springs up and spins 1.5 turns to release snow projectile,
and then recoils one turn, back to preparation state.

Total time taken to release projectile = 1.00 second

Mode 2 ( Faster than Normal Speed )  -- Occasional
The flingo spins clockwise 2.5 turns, springs up, spins only 1 turn and release snow projectile, inertia spin 0.5 turn,
and then recoils one turn, back to preparation state.

Total time taken to release projectile = 0.85 second.

4. Attempt to Put out Smoldering Objects or Fire during Plant Watering Duration

The flingo will occasionally enter into a state that water plants. During this duration (my estimation of somewhere between 1-2 seconds), the flingo will also throw snowballs to put out any smoldering objects or fire.

I have put down the links for the set-up, flingo, and also the save file / world so that you can see, test and verify my claims.

Save file / world : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1n5J2CdYHuKYYgk2dNiZcBh6cOMRM4MxH?usp=sharing

I also vaguely know that there is somehow a way to look into the prefab file or game data file, is there someone knowledgeable in this help to confirm these claims or teach me how to do it?

At last, thanks for reading the post and feel free to share any related flingo or fire mechanics to help elucidate them!

Do you have any idea why Woby runs away from the player when getting off?

When I wanna pick something on the ground and store it in Woby, he runs away from me when I get off.

When I get off next to a sculpture I wanna replace, he runs away.

Every single time when I get off Woby, he runs away from me to make riding him or storing something into him harder. It's kinda uncomfortable.

This keeps happening since Walter's release. Any idea why this happens?

Solo Players Support

Hello Guys, this is a little coment about my solo experience in Dst, and about some imbalances within the game. (Sorry for any misspellings, i'am Brazilian :p)

Well, since my battle against Bee Queen and others more powerful bosses, i have noticed that is kinda Impossible some player kill those bosses only playing alone without spending the most of his resources. From that, i just used mods to balance the game.

What i really mean is: please Klei balance the life of the bosses, something like the number of the players in the server or just a option to ajust it as the player wants.

I know this can be kind of useless for some people, but years have passed and it did not change, a mandatory thing to me.

Well, Thank you for reading my topic :D

About Wilderness mode

$

I've always wondered why doesn't the wilderness mode allow resurrection exactly like in DS: no ghost, but if you are attuned to meat effigy or actively wear a LGA you revive immediately, so you have at least a safe net before losing it all. I think it would make sense since those items have no use in wilderness (you probably can't craft them, I'm not sure)

Wilderness is also currently the least popular game mode, its there, but rarely seen outside of PVP (and even in PVP its also uncommon). The penalty when you die is too harsh: I actually don't mind showing up in a random spot, I think what makes it an inconvenient mode is losing all your knowledge.

Would a player made way to resurrect, DS style, make the mode a bit more popular? Would you play it? Do you like/play it as it is? I'm interested in opinions.

Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!

I'll start

The Ancient Civilization: A Major, In-Depth Analysis of Everything.

$

As many know, there is a ton of lore behind the Ancient Civilization of the Ruins. I have seen many videos and threads interpreting the murals, but I am here to interpret not only the murals, but also what we have ingame. There is a lot of implied lore that has been right under our noses that we have missed. So, without further ado, let us begin the analysis of the Ancient Civilization.

Part One: The Ancient Murals.

So, to start, I will indeed be talking about the murals. Starting off, I will not only be interpreting the murals that we most commonly see interpreted, but also the mural in the background of the Metheus Puzzle.

image.thumb.png.9c78361bc9fb398fdc1639290d92095a.pngimage.thumb.png.6fac3d251578aeaf414fd5aec1c0b226.png

Here we see the lives of the ancients before they were driven underground. They seem to be living lives similar to the lives of our survivors of the constant. They are gathering carrots and berries, and they are harvesting honey from bees. This is pretty basic stuff. It is worth noting the symbols, But I am not going to go translating everything because that would take a lot of time and we only know the meaning of a few of them. If there is anyone who has figured out the meaning of all of the symbols, I would love to know, and it would be very helpful for you to translate them. But for now, let us move on.

image.thumb.png.7a9624e3bb9124a2eda1fa3e65e34bfc.png

Here we see that winter is here. Crops are dying and birds are migrating. The Ancients are gathering resources so they can head to the caves to escape the harsh weather. I personally believe that this is not the first winter they have experienced, but perhaps in the previous year, they had Deerclops show up and cause the death of many of them, so the ancients are trying to escape before Deerclops comes back.

image.thumb.png.e673b783ff07684cf59bc101af35685f.png

Here we see the ancients bringing their resources underground. The fact that they have yellow and green gems lead me to believe that these gems that are only accessible by us underground were once on the surface world, but the ancients found almost all of them and took them to the caves. I say almost because there is still a chance to get these gems from tumbleweeds, and the Dragonfly still hoards her collection of gems. Also, I believe that the Ancient leading the ones that have not gone underground yet to be the same Torch Bearer we see later, and their willingness to help lead the rest of the colony lead to them being crowned as a leader.

image.thumb.png.b71e904f840e90122e9ae319472b6940.png

Here we see that the ancients have dug deeper and deeper, until eventually, they found the Ancient Gateway. The Gateway produced a light energy from it, but it also produced some darkness from one end. The dark side seems to be causing death and decay, judging by the bones. We also have the two leaders of the Ancient Civilization, one bearing a torch, and the other wielding a staff. These two are standing at an equal level, representing that they were equal in power. I think that the Staff Wielder is this ancient, who either found the staff, or they made it.

image.thumb.png.fcff90b22d1770d08c6ef3858d2273c3.png

I personally believe that they found this staff, perhaps with the gateway. I also find it interesting that the staff seems to be radiating some sort of light energy from the bottom, much unlike the staff we see later. Perhaps this staff was attached to the gateway, but upon being removed, its energy corrupted.

image.thumb.png.ebc73e6f5e3553ea17733d12e79effe7.png

Here we see the staff wielder using the dark energy to do many things that helped the civilization thrive. We see him getting carrots in the top left area. Perhaps he used the magic from the staff to kill bunnymen, and looting the carrots from their bodies. There is an abundance of rabbits seen in the wall mural, and we do see this ancient hunting rabbits in said mural.

image.png.a5cdb0c61a3acaace0d28af10217ca30.png

Perhaps this ancient is the one who later became the staff wielder, and he never liked rabbits and he enjoyed killing them for food and for sport. This may be a bit farfetched, but it's something I found noteworthy.

The panel where the Staff Wielder summons gems doesn't really strike me very much, and I can't really find some deep connection to anything, so I'm going to declare that all that is happening here is that he is conjuring gems.

Next we see them making/conjuring screws, wrenches, gears, and other mechanical bits. These were used to construct the Clockworks, which were made to guard the Ancients' valuable or sacred things.

Then we see them conjuring bones from the ground, just like how the Fuelweaver summons bones to aid him in battle.

Before we move on to the next part of the mural, it is worth noting that the Gateway has much more dark energy, with only small bits of light energy coming from it.

image.thumb.png.c91e919288442afaf64c0e8820e6b622.png

Here we see that the Staff Wielder has gained much more power. They are standing tall and mighty, while the Torch Bearer is low, crouched over, and their flame is dying. It makes sense, since the staff wielder has been helping the colony thrive, while the torch bearer only helped escort the colony underground.

image.thumb.png.77344922cd8dcb5d782b278e7b09e60a.png

Here we see something that could be interpreted in a few different ways, but I think this is showing that the rest of the ancients are trying to warn their leaders of what is yet to come. We see that there is something dark coming for them, but it is being blocked by centipedes. More on the centipedes later.

image.thumb.png.a1fb96fb40c78056e5881b0bf7c75550.png

Here we see that the gateway has reached its full power, and it is lashing out, corrupting some and killing many, we see that the arms and heads of the corrupted ancients have fallen off and have been replaced by shadows. We see the disembodied head and arms of one of the ancients in this panel:

image.png.3aafc0ad108f4dba778100139d04b62d.png

image.thumb.png.7a19606561fe2c873f292c500e33a438.png

Here we see that the torch bearer has risen up to fight the evil that is corrupting their people, using the light to deflect away the darkness. We also see that the surviving ancients are corrupting things with the dark magic. The Staff Wielder has fallen and seems to be in pain from the dark energy.

image.thumb.png.1891446208872eaf27c94d3a93e89149.png

Here we see that the imbalance between the dark and the light has caused the gateway to be unstable, and part of it broke.

image.png.39d8eb23af8354e6b6097fc711b34d56.png

I believe that the Staff Wielder and the Torch Bearer used their combined efforts to shut down the gateway. Unfortunately, it seems that the Torch Bearer was corrupted by the darkness in the process of doing so. I don't believe that they are dead, because there is no skull and bone to show death like it did with the other ancients who died. I think the dark killed the remaining ancients, but it left the torch bearer corrupted and the staff wielder enlightened. I believe this because the throne they sit upon seems to shed a lot of the light energy. I also believe that they are covering their eyes to symbolize that they have turned away from Them, who is primarily represented by an eye.

image.png.4177eae0bae17f97ec5d93675ca03ea6.png

Something I forgot to mention is that I believe that the power from the gateway comes from Them, and when the gateway was at the height of its power, that's when you see Them.

Welp, That'll wrap it up for now. The second mural seems to tell a much different story that I have not seen analysis of in the past, so I will be the first one (to my knowledge) who covers it. It is a bit more speculation-y than the first one, but I believe I have evidence to support it. But until I cover that, I will see you guys next time!
