Do You Think Walter & Woby Are A Reference to Pixar's "Up"?

$

Hello people,

The other day I was thinking about Walter & Woby and somehow the movie "Up" managed to pop up in my mind. After watching the short, I thought that it was kinda weird that Walter, a boy scout, befriends a dog using some sort of food. In Up, Russell, a boy scout, befriends a dog as well. Personally, I think it's coincidence, but I don't know...

What do you think? Do any other characters have obvious references?

I want more creativity in Walter's ammunition

$

Nobody has mentioned this, but I think the thing that I personally find most disappointing about Walter is the lack of creativity in his ammunition.

His ammunition is just generic magic rocks. Even worse is that they are "recycling" powers that belong to already existing items in the game, e.g. Shadow Tentacles from the Thulecite Club (this is where things start to feel like a mod). Re-using effects and packaging them as new in a new character is really lame.

I want some more creativity in the items Walter can shoot. I want ammunition that fits his character. There's nothing in Walter's character that suggests he's magical, so why does he have magical pellets? He could shoot like flaming pine cones or shoot bee mines (which would add a challenge as he's allergic).

Just something a bit more interesting than "magic rock does random magic thing". I want something that's more original and fits his "Home Alone" crafting abilities.

Lets discuss big Woby stomach problem

Hello!

As we all know by feeding Woby 3 monster meat she'll turn into her big beefalo like form, knowing this I run some small tests today and noticed some... weird behaviour related to Big Woby's belly... she likes to eat a LOT of monster meat.

The first thing I did was feed Woby 3 monster meats and time the duration of the transformation without feeding her more monster meat, the duration was 11 minutes and 44 second. The second thing I did was transform Woby again, but this time I fed her 3 more monster meats around ten minutes into the transformation, the duration of the transformation got extended to 13 minutes and 54 seconds. After that I repeated the same process once more, this time feeding 4 monster meats ten minutes into the transformation, getting to the duration of 14 minutes and 37 second.

I then did some calculations:
Duration of Woby's transformation: 11 minutes and 44 second = 660 seconds + 44 seconds = 704 seconds.
Duration of woby's transformation when feeding her 3 monster meats after ten minutes: 13 minutes and 54 seconds = 780 seconds + 54 seconds = 834 seconds.
Duration of woby's transformation when feeding her 4 monster meats after ten minutes: 14 minutes and 37 seconds = 840 seconds + 37 seconds = 877 seconds.

Substrancting 834 and 877 from 704
834 - 704 =  130 seconds of extra duration for 3 monster meats given to Big Woby
877 - 704 =  173 seconds of extra duration for 4 monster meats given to Big Woby

Then I divided the extra duration by the number os monster meats given to Big Woby:
130 ÷ 3 = 43,33 seconds per monster meat
173 ÷ 4 = 43,25 seconds per monster meat
(the difference in miliseconds is because I timed Woby's transformation with a chronometer in real life and I'm not a machine, I have human reflexes :-p)

So for each monster meat we give to Big Woby she'll only be getting around 43 extra seconds of transformation.

With that number in mind we can then find out how many monster meats a near starving Big Woby would need to eat to become full again:
704 ÷ 43,3 = 16,25 monster meats
(I divided the total duration of the transformation by the extra duration that one monster meat adds)

A near starving Big Woby would need around 16-15 monster meats to become full again.
After learning this about her I now call Big Woby by "monster meat black hole".

Observation: This situation is a problem because it becomes extremely hard and taxing to maintain Big Woby fed and in case you didn't know she gets slower the hungrier she is to a point where it's faster walking with walter normal speed than riding her. Also, before anyone says "just wait for her to transform back to small and feed her 3 monster meats again", yes you could do that... but then you'll be stuck with a slow Big Woby for part of the transformation while you wait for her to turn small again, even if you already have the monster meat.

Thanks for your attention!

What aspect of the game do you want Klei to focus on more?

$

Hello, new thread.

Dst is a 'Survival-Sandbox'-type of a game. That's why I'm asking if you'd guys want Klei do focus more on survival aspect or sandbox aspect, of the game.

Because tbh I could find flaws in both of these.
Survival- well... for the last 2 years 90% of content didn't really impact general survival that much. Some of existing mechanics could use an update
Sandbox- most of decorative items fit in the same category: fancy. Player's can't really make whatever setpieces thay have in mind, skins help with that more than actual items. At the end of the day most megabases look pretty much the same.

Don't get me wrong, the stuff we receive is nice... but there's only so many optional tasks or uses for a statue one can get enjoyement from.

How to move single DST server to another computer?

$

Hi all!

I have a personal DST server saved on my desktop, and a co-op DST server saved on my laptop. I am wanting to transfer one server to the other, but I don't want to accidentally overwrite either save.

Looking through the save files, I don't see any indication in file names to help me identify which is which. Is it possible to move a single server over, or are they bundled together in the save files? I have seen this article already but unfortunately those are not the file names that I see in my save folder so I am unable to distinguish what is what. Mine is formatted like this:

>C:\Users\IUseThisComputer\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\9124430
With the following files underneath this path:
>client_save
>Cluster_1
>Cluster_2
>Cluster_3

I had assumed Clusters 1-3 would be indicative of each server, but, these folders/files have not been modified for 4 days, and I have played on servers every day since then, so I would assume the files would have been updated if these were the accurate locations. The file names in each of those folders are all just random assortments of letters and numbers. The client_save file HAS been modified as recently as my last playtime today, but names are very generic: saveindex, player_history, server_preference...they do not indicate specific servers.

I hope this isn't worded too confusing.
Thank you!

How I would have handled Walter

$

I want to preface this by saying that I think Walter is a fun addition and I do not discredit Klei for any of their efforts in his creation. Walter has a lot of personality, which is something I adore in characters, and the main concept of his character (a boy scout) is such an interesting idea for a survival game and it is one that I love. I've been seeing a lot of people call Walter a "mod character", which I personally don't agree with. Walter's fearless mechanic and Woby are both mechanics that I think could be really interesting if explored further. That's where my main issue with Walter begins, however.

Despite being a boy scout, Walter doesn't feel like one.

As much as I love Woby, she's adorable, I can't help but feel like she was forced into his moveset. Walter hardly has anything to show for his boy scouting except a portable tent and some stories. In my personal opinion, Walter's kit should have been focused entirely around being a boy scout, and the fearless gimmick and/or Woby should have been additions to completely separate characters. The only thing Walter brings to the table for his team is being a ranged combatant, which I've found to be particularly underwhelming. I'd rather Klei just port Wheeler over to have her fulfil that niche with her much more fun Pew-matic Horn.

So, how would I "rework" Walter? Well, I'm not a game developer (shocker, I know), but I've come up with an entirely new kit for him. The goal with this was to completely make Walter a nomadic character, who excels at scouting and resource gathering for his friends. I would have removed Woby and her gimmicks entirely as, again, I feel like they're out of place in his moveset, but I've seen a lot of people like the animal companion aspect and I figured that, with a few tweaks, it could really fit Walter's role as a boy scout.

Walter, the Boy Scout

130 HP | 140 Hunger | 150 Sanity

* Expert survivalist

* Has a four legged friend

* Suffers from pesky allergies

* Holds a Scout's Honor

The first thing you'll probably notice from this portrait is that Woby isn't present. In her stead, Walter brings with him a piko named Walnut. Frankly, a squirrel felt more forest-y and in-line for a boy scout's companion than a weird dog that can turn into a huge beast. Noticeable removals also include Walter's slingshot and most of his sanity gimmicks. Walter now loses sanity exactly the same way everybody else does, and doesn't lose sanity from getting hit or being below certain health. Again, these were interesting concepts, but felt weirdly tacked on to Walter's character.

Walnut's Perks

Similar to Woby, Walnut will reunite with Walter the second he spawns. An immediate, second Chester is kind of... er, not broken, but... again, out of place. If Woby is to remain her ability to store items, I personally think she should hold less than Chester - which is exactly what Walnut does. Unlike Woby, Walnut cannot grow into a huge monster nor can he be ridden. Like Woby, however, Walnut cannot die but also will refuse to partake in combat.

  • Walnut has three inventory slots. Items cannot be stacked. A single food item can be placed inside Walnut's mouth, which will be signified by his bloated chubby cheeks. While stored inside, the food item spoils at half its rate. Can be regular foods or crockpot dishes.
  • Walnut can be ordered to climb up trees and scavenge any kind of plants. Walnut will then toss out an extra item that would have been dropped by their respective plant. Climbing up birchnut trees will let Walnut give you an extra birchnut, scavenging berry bushes will give you one extra berry, scavenging reeds will give you one extra cut reed, etc.

  • Walnut can also be ordered to gnaw his teeth on boulders. Doing so will grant one extra rock. The same can be done on mini glaciers and salt formations for an extra ice and salt crystal respectively. If objects that have gold in them are gnawed, such as stalagmites or gold boulders, then an extra gold nugget will always be prioritised.

Walter's Perks

Walter's perks all revolve around his nomadic playstyle and his familiarity with the woods.

  • Walter is able to climb any kind of tree to scout out his surroundings. Doing so will reveal a chunk of the map around him, at the cost of a small amount of hunger each time. This allows Walter to map out the world faster without having to run around everywhere, and can prove especially useful in forest biomes, where a boy scout feels most comfortable.
  • Walter can craft campfires for cheaper (1 log and 1 grass). Campfires built by Walter also do not spread as quickly to nearby flammable objects. This is to incentivise Walter to constantly be out and about exploring. Fire pits aren't cheaper.

  • Walter can still tell spooky stories around campfires and fire pits to boost his and his team's sanity. However, doing so will drain Walter's hunger the longer he tells a story for, and if Walter is by himself, he does not gain sanity.

Walter's Exclusive Items

As mentioned earlier, vanilla Walter brings almost nothing from his life as a boy scout despite boy scouts typically having a wide arsenal of items that prepare them for survival in the wild. All of these following items are meant to reflect his training.

Multitasker.thumb.png.4e2c350d3de24bf6df46c63e4e250ae9.pngThe Multitasker (x3 twigs, x5 flint) | Tools tab (requires a Science Machine)

The Multitasker is an item that only Walter can use. If any other character tries to use it, they'll mention that they need to be a scout in order to use it properly.

It's a multitool that allows him to chop, mine and dig all in one tool. The Multitasker has 150 uses and loses durability regardless of whatever tool is used. It can also be used to damage mobs, in which case it deals 30 damage.

This tool allows Walter to gather resources more efficiently without having to worry about constantly crafting different tools for specific tasks, although it is still not recommended to use as a weapon.

811791319_Campers_Tent.png.978a9ab46c14f7993bdae349d04fef64.pngThe Camper's Tent (x1 straw roll, x4 twigs, x2 rope) | Survival tab (requires a Science Machine)

The Camper's Tent functions mostly like it does at the moment. It can be set up and slept in, and can then be packed up and placed in the player's inventory. Other characters can still use the Camper's Tent.

There is a stat change, however. The Camper's Tent now only has 6 uses, like the regular Tent, and Walter loses the same amount of hunger that every other character does while sleeping.

pine.thumb.png.8db422361e9d83c3c6beddb26494eb34.pngThe Pinetree Pioneer Hat (x4 silk) | Dress tab (always available)

The Pinetree Pioneer Hat functions mostly like it does at the moment. Walter can wear it for a +2 sanity regeneration every minute, as well as a 20% rain protection and a 60 overheating protection. It lasts for 10 days.

Other characters can wear the Pinetree Pioneer Hat for the rain and overheating protection, but won't get its sanity regeneration.

As Walter's fearless perk has been removed, the Pinetree Pioneer Hat will not divide by two the sanity loss of Walter when he takes damage.

564234137_firstaidkit.thumb.png.f4a47ea497974601bc064a975aa1c4d1.pngThe First Aid Kit (x6 silk, x6 spider glands, x2 honey) | Survival tab (requires a Science Machine)

The First Aid Kit is an item that cannot be used directly by other characters, but can still be used by Walter to heal them with.

Using the First Aid Kit restores 25 HP, and has 4 uses.

174764650_Waterbottle.thumb.png.037f82828b2d4c471dbde5c9080aa239.pngThe Water Bottle (x1 water balloon, x10 ice) | Survival tab (requires a Science Machine)

The Water Bottle is an item that can be used by Walter and any other character, though Walter is the only one able to craft it.

It can be drank to cool the player off, and restores 10 sanity and 5 HP, and has one use but can be stacked.

The Water Bottle doesn't spoil, but it can go warm if left in the player's inventory or ground for too long. Warm water won't restore any stats, but can raise the player's temperature a bit. Water Bottles can be stored in ice boxes to restore their coolness.

605046498_ScoutsEssentials.thumb.png.715190a94be4afe025df1cb5fe3b3bf1.pngThe Scout's Essentials (x12 silk, x5 cut grass) | Survival tab (requires a Science Machine)

The Scout's Essentials functions similar to a backpack, but only has 4 slots. Items cannot be stacked inside it, but the Scout's Essentials can be stored inside the player's inventory similar to a Bundling Wrap, as opposed to a backpack which requires the player to equip it.

All characters can use the Scout's Essentials, but Walter is the only one able to craft it. The Scout's Essentials can also be placed in chests.

Foods placed in the Scout's Essentials of other characters will spoil twice as quickly than usual, but foods placed in Walter's Scout's Essentials spoil at the same rate they usually would.

Row_Boat_Build.png.b682eb9cb0e6b05dd9efaec3426e2dfa.pngThe Canoe (x4 boards, x3 cut grass) | Seafaring tab (requires a Think Tank)

The Canoe is a boat exclusive to Walter. It acts as a two player vessel that slowly uses durability over time, much like the boats in Shipwrecked. Oars are still required to paddle, and structures cannot be placed inside it, unlike regular boats.

Only Walter is able to operate a canoe, but it allows an extra passenger. If Chester is the passenger, then a second player cannot enter. This makes Walter a great character for getting to the Lunar Island, but its limited space and low HP as well as its draining durability makes it an awful choice for boss battles on the seas, sea basing, or long periods of time at sea.

Sunscream.thumb.png.97c9a2f74dc54ddf035c25b9bcc46b67.pngThe Sunscream (x1 water balloon, x3 nightmare fuel) | Survival tab (requires a Shadow Manipulator)

The Sunscream is an item exclusive to Walter. When applied, it temporarily deaggros Shadow Creatures. The Sunscream lasts for 2 minutes, and has 4 uses. The Sunscream also protects players from the sun, making them harder to overheat. During Winter, its cold substance can cause them to freeze if applied.

The Sunscream can be used by any character. Using it also makes the player lose 5 sanity. This makes it effective at keeping Shadow Creatures at bay while the player focuses on something more important, but still keeps the player insane meaning they're only delaying the inevitable. Additionally, applying it too many times can cause freezing.

1654070281_DeflatorKit.thumb.png.bb8f438edae1a74f2eb275ac949b249b.pngThe Deflator Kit (x1 First Aid Kit, x2 gold nuggets) | Survival tab (requires a Science Machine)

The Deflator Kit is an item that only Walter can use. Its main purpose is to treat his allergies, reversing the effects instantly. In addition to that, it gives Walter a small protection against his allergies for 3 minutes.

The Deflator Kit has 5 uses, and cannot be stacked.

Walter's Disadvantages

Personally, I find vanilla Walter's allergy to bees to be very fitting for his character. He's going to be outdoors a lot, and running into a lot of bugs, which thematically ties in to his boy scout status. My issue with this downside currently is that it feels really lazy. Walter only takes extra damage from bees, and that's it. No visual change, no status effects, nothing. It feels shoehorned in and that's what I think a lot of people are disappointed with. Don't Starve has a lot of absurdity in its character perks, so I decided to take Walter's allergy and bump it up a notch.

Walter is now allergic to all bugs, not just bees. This includes butterflies, mosquitoes, fireflies and moon moths.

  • The extra 20 damage from bee attacks is still present, but now also applies to mosquito attacks.
  • Walter's face will massively swell up if he either gets attacked by bees or mosquitoes, but also if he remains in contact with the other types of bugs for too long (ie, if Walter stays near butterflies for a while, he'll swell up). While his face is swollen, Walter has a variety of characteristics:
    • Walter moves twice as slow when he's swollen, and his attacks deal half their usual damage.
    • Walter constantly loses sanity while swollen, at 5 sanity every minute.
    • Walter is considered a disgusting creature while swollen. Any followers will run away in fear if he's stung in their presence.
    • Pigs will attack him on sight.
  • Walter swells up after eating butterflies and butter muffins, making them non-viable food choices.
  • Walter cannot adopt Mothlings.
  • Walter stays swollen for 5 minutes. This can be cured instantly by using a Deflator Kit. Using a First Aid Kit won't cure him immediately, but it will make the form last for 2 minutes instead of 5. Using it again will cure him.
  • Walter won't swell up if he has any caught bugs in his inventory. Instead, he will occasionally sneeze, which plays a short animation that leaves him vulnerable, and has a chance of making whatever tool he has equipped slip out of his hand.

You'll notice that a lot of Walter's items require materials dropped by bugs. This is done to force Walter players into risking encounters with insects so they can reap the rewards.

You may have also noticed that one of Walter's perks listed next to his portrait is "Holds a Scout's Honor". What this means, is that Walter has sworn an oath to only use the tools he's been taught to craft from his time at camp. This means that, if any of Walter's exclusive items have a non-exclusive counterpart, Walter will refuse to use them. This means that Walter cannot use:

  • Any other sleeping structures such as regular tents, bed rolls, siesta lean-tos, etc. This makes Walter rely on his Camper's Tent.
  • Any other healing items such as healing salves, spider glands and honey poultice. This makes Walter rely on his First Aid Kits. Healing foods only give Walter half their HP regeneration.
  • Any sanity restoring hats such as garlands, top hats and tam o' shanters. This makes Walter rely on his Pinetree Pioneer Hat.
  • Additionally, it takes more swings for Walter to chop, mine and dig with regular axes, pickaxes and shovels, and it also takes more durability to do so. This makes Walter rely on his Multitasker to gather resources.

Walter also has low maximum HP. This makes it riskier to engage in solo fights with mobs. Vanilla Walter is designed to be a support character that attacks from the sidelines with his slingshot, as his sanity loss upon hit discourages him from meleeing. While this Walter doesn't have the latter disadvantage, his kit still shapes him up into performing more of a supportive role while letting his team deal with enemies, but doesn't penalise the player for getting hit.

His low maximum Hunger as well as the hunger sacrificed by climbing trees and telling stories means Walter runs into issues of starvation. This incentivises Walter players to constantly be scouting out for food, which ties in to his nomadic playstyle.

Final Verdict

Well, these are my "ideas" for a more nuanced and well-put together Walter. As I said, I'm not a game developer nor do I really know how these stats would actually play out, which means crafting recipes could change, exclusive items could get removed, etc. It was just fun to create this whole thing and to perhaps get off my chest just how cool I think a scout character could have been.

Hopefully you had some fun reading it! Constructive criticism is always appreciated, as are discussions about my concepts, or even your own concepts! Thank you for reading, and have a good day.

Encrypted Walter animation file?

Normally encrypted files are to keep skins, Paid characters and the such hidden so people can't usually just open them up and then mod them in. But why is Walter's base skin encrypted? He isn't a paid character so there's no reason to encrypt his regular look, :{ I really wanted to do something with his character assets.

How to screw up a scout boy ?

I was excited when the news of the character. I wish my excitement could continue when the character came in.

I will explain why I think so.

My first criticism is about Woby. Don't you think Woby don't looks like a mod plugin? What is different from pets made from Rock Den? Don't you think Chester and Woby combo in the early game is a lot op? When you think it grows up, isn't it like a different beefalo? It did not mean much to me, except for the beefalo, which has a silly look from behind.

Second, there is a slingshot. A different experience different perspectives, but apart from taking up additional space, how is it different from weapons and wands doing this task?

Maybe they spent a lot of time on this character, I don't want to be unfair. But I don't think my personal opinion should be misunderstood. Just my opinion

I think it's my right to criticize, I hope no one gets it wrong. My mother tongue is not English, I hope you don't misunderstand to me. :wilson_flower:

Empty ruins bug

Hi,

I just encountered a very weird bug in my game.

I just explored the ruins for the first time and its completely empty, there are no clockworks, status, ancient guardian, splurmonkies or pesudo stations.

There are also no depth worm attacks...

This same map has other weirdness, like the lunar island connected directly to the main land...

Anyone know whats causing this and if it can be fixed?

[Theory] Constant's Lucy the Axe is FAKE

$

You read that right, that beautiful good looking red axe that is with woodie in the constant is fake and I will show evidences that supports it.

You can see in walter's vídeo that he was looking for evidences about the werebeaver, and went to a cabin in the woods:

657461330_lucyverdadeira.thumb.jpg.8c5abb2beb272a82ce804b3152832aad.jpg

Starting here we can already see the real Lucy the Axe there, and figure out who the owner of the cabin is: woodie.

Why would Woodie leave his favourite axe alone, outside from the cabin ?

The explanation is very simple:

1365329204_casa1.thumb.jpg.e2610a9370d2ea36997ee049a613d9cc.jpg

1666296313_casa2.thumb.jpg.10fb09187845940b9ecd3c2512f9d3b6.jpg

You can see in this pictures (and on the first one, with the outside view of the cabin) that there are several spider webs on the cabin, indicating that some time has passed since anyone would show up on the cabin. And even Lucy the Axe has some moss on it, showing that nobody, not even woodie, has used it for a long time.

Why? because Woodie was already taken by Them to the constant.

Woodie was taken alone to the constant, leaving the real Lucy the Axe in the real world.

He has beeing hanging out, chopping with a fake copy of his axe this whole time!

Cheating on his axe, with his axe's fake evil twin

Edit (more evidence)

Walter came to the constant after the moon breaking incident, and Woodie was in the constant before it, since he only discovered new powers after the moon broke and fell to the ocean. Proving that Woodie was taken before Walter, and proving that real Lucy the Axe is alone in the real world

Walter Glitches PS4

So, after a session with some friends while playing with Walter, we've discovered a few glitches and bugs, i don't know if the PC version has these or not, as i play on PS4, so, lets move on to the glitches.

1. Walter's Ghost is invisible.

When you die Walter's ghost doesn't appear, but this is only a visual glitch, and you can still interact with everything else.

2. The portable tent map icon.

When a portable tent is placed down, instead of it's map icon showing, it shows Warly's portable grinder icon.

3. While telling stories his hat goes missing.

Very self explanatory.

4. The Tophat is invisible while on the floor.

When dropped on the floor the Tophat becomes invisible.

5. Other characters receive the "tell a story" prompt.

When near a campfire as any character it will give you the option to tell a story, if you're not Walter however they'll just say "only_used_by_walter"

6. Dismantling a tent while being used.

If you try to dismantle a tent that IS occupied the character will say "only_used_by_warly" i imagine because the first item with a dismantle option was warly.

7. Recovering burnt portable tents.

If a portable tent is burnt and then dismantled it'll come back like nothing ever happened.

8. Portable tent duplication.

I really like this one, but i know that it has to be patched, if you spam the dismantle button on a portable tent it'll restart the animation, however it'll still give you a portable tent back, making it possible to have infinite portable tents. (And gives a great willow sanity station)

I think that's all the ones i found, i hope these get fixed soon, they aren't bad, as they don't really change much and most are visual glitches, but the tent one is just very broken.

Walter glass cannon

I've played Walter for quite a few hours now and i really loved him untill the point where we had to fight bosses. I am encouraged to fight from range (so i am not helping with tanking damage at all) but even if i use cursed rounds i end up doing much less damage than the other survivors while constantly attacking and not sharing the damage taken. Its such a shame that the character is so well made and  so fun to play but is just a weight on the shoulders of the other survivors because some damage numbers. I've calculated my damage compared to other survivors in battles and almost in all of them i did much less while essentially forcing the others to protect me. isn't a 'glass cannon' supposed to be a good damage source? For now walter sure is glass since he is majorly screwed if he tries to fight up close but has nothing to compensate for it in battle.

  • Only Walter will have the Tell Story action at fire pits
  • Walter’s fearlessness no longer prevents sanity loss while equipping Night Armor and Dark Sword. It was not intended to protect him from the effects of shadow magic.
  • Walter will no longer shoot his Slingshot at targets that die while he is loading
  • Fixed double killing creatures with the Slingshot, which was resulting in gaining double sanity from killing nightmare creatures.
  • Fixed a potential crash when moving slingshot ammo into containers
  • Fixed large Woby texture bugs.
  • Fixed a rare crash in when attacking with the Twisted Dagger skin.
  • Fixed an issue were the Weregoose Ghost was unable to haunt things while using a controller, making it hard to resurrect.
  • Fixed Walter’s missing hat when he’s telling a story.
  • Adjusted Woby’s speed and hunger in big form.
  • Fixed Tent and Siesta Lean-to health gain.
  • Hermit will freeze properly if frozen.

  • Other assorted sounds fixes.

Hi all. The old topic was archived in early 2017, but I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it back. There have been a ton of content since and quite a bit of skins. Personally I really enjoyed the Victorian collection but others were good as well. Well, if you got any cool outfit sets you wish to share - post it here!

I'll start

This is just a short lil' post. I just want to inform you, that the teaser silhouette of the next Return of Them update has some secrets. What I mean, is when I looked at its file name, it referred to the silhouette as the "Barnacle". So yeah. Do anything you want with that information, I thought it was neat. It also looked like another of those Lunar plant-animal Mutants like the Saladmander, the Carrat or even the Corn Cod.

So what are Walter's Downsides?

I'm trying to figure out what the heck Walter's downsides are because he has absolutely none.

His one downside is sanity drain on health drain, but kiting completely negates this. You can argue his slingshot negates this, but there's literally nothing stopping you from just kiting normally.

He can also just live in the caves with zero concerns whatsoever, as he gets no sanity drain.

Other downsides like clothing not giving him sanity, or 10 more damage from bees are just jokes, completely negated by his 10 use fur roll called a portable tent. Or, y'know, anything else that heals, heck trailmix is super easy to make and negates HP worries.

Woby takes 3 monster meat and is faster than a speedy beefalo, on top of having 9 inventory slots and is immortal, rending chester useless, as chester still needs to be found. While you can argue upgrades for chester and hutch exist, they require the wait to a full moon and need things like nightmare fuel and blue gems.

So I'm sitting here trying to figure out how the heck Walter has any downsides that balance him at all.
