Only defeated king merms have broken horns but when Wurt has a new king, her horn doesn't grow back. Does this mean she still pines after her past king or is there something more going on with her?

For me, it would be, by far, the dragonfly. This boss forces me to have a lot of skill, timing and quick decision making. This is also a boss that you do not need to tank, which makes it skilled based: a lot of fun! Her loot is also the best in the game (in my opinion) which rewards me for having skill. The only disappointing thing in this fight is lag, but you can turn off the caves to avoid it. Since going into the caves is a suicide for me, it does not disturb me.

Today's the day ! We now have skins for lootable equipments and more, the latest update added one for the Tam o' Shanter and the Krampus Sack :

The dream comes true now that we have the amazing Clean Sweeper, craftable from the Magic tab !50?cb=20141225142756

This tool works like a staff : it cast a spell on stuff and changes their appearance with one of the skin you own, so skins are now applicable on everything craftable or not, we're probably gonna have more of these for various equipment loots like Snurtle Shell armor and whatsoever in the future.

 

But I'm sure this also means that BUILDING & STRUCTURE skins are coming up ! :wilson_curious:

Do you guys think we're gonna have skins for the Pig King and the Florid Postern/Celestial Portal ? We definitively have this in our hands, I'm looking forward for this kind of addition to Belongings, we'll have the ability to give thematics to our world if major game elements become customisable.

The DST Skins Checklist has been designed to help you more easily keep track of your DST skins collection.  This can be done by manually checking off items or by directly syncing the checklist with your inventory on Steam.  

The layout is fairly rustic, but it lets you view, filter, and search the skins you own, have duplicates of, or are missing in the game.  All save data is stored locally on your computer (in your browser's Local Storage).

The checklist is a single HTML file (images are all embedded) and can be used online or from your desktop:

For best compatibility, open the file using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox; some features may not function properly in other browsers.

I originally made this for my friends and I to keep track of our skins collection, but I thought I'd also share it here.  The layout is fairly rustic, however, it does its job.

The checklist lets you save & filter items based on collection, character, color, rarity, and whether you own an item or not.  I've also included links to each skin's Steam page.

You can view the code, download, or preview the checklist here:

To use, save the HTML file to your computer and open it with your browser.  Alternatively, you can use the live preview link above, but Google Drive is discontinuing HTML web hosting at the end of August; so, the preview will cease to work after then.

The skin images are embedded (via base64 encoding) into the HTML file, so the file size is ~1.25MB.  Saving uses the Local Storage of your browser, so your save will be lost if you clear your browser's cache and/or site data.  Javascript also needs to be enabled to use the interactive features.

Here are a few screenshots of what Version 1.0 looks like:

  • Crabby Hermit’s shop works at high friendship now.
  • You don’t have to clean Seastacks to make the Crabby Hermit happy.
  • Crab King doesn’t set off spells when it dies.
  • Stopped the Firepit from being extinguished when using the Clean Sweeper.
  • Fixed an issue where the items inside the Bundle Of Thanks would also appear at (0, 0, 0) in the world.

We need to get the console version updated with fixes from to beta version so we expect this update to be available for console early next week. Of course, everything is taking a little extra time right now, so it may take longer than we think, but we'll post if we find out there has been a significant change in timing.  

Final Note

On to the next thing! Now is a good time to mention that we are currently in the middle of evaluating our schedule. We're definitely beginning to see issues creep in from our current situation working from home. We're looking to shift things around a bit so we can still have something for you every month but the next update will likely be smaller as we work on the larger stuff like the next new character and the next Return of Them update. When we have more information on that, we'll let you know.

  • The Crabby Hermit and Crabking are retrofitted into existing world.
  • The player can now board boats while mounted.
  • The player can now board boats while lifting a heavy object.
  • The distance you can jump to embark and disembark has been adjusted and is now based on how fast your character is moving.
  • Irreplaceable inventory items no longer slip out of your inventory when drowning in the ocean
  • Creatures that follow you onto a boat will now wash ashore (instead of die) when the boats sinks
  • Changed the ingredients required to craft the Tackle Receptacle.
  • Boat Patch also repairs boat damage
  • Added Clean Sweeper for changing item skins.

Trouble acquiring Twitch Drops - notifications says acquired, but I don't receive anything in-game

Hey!

So I've been watching some streams on Twitch to acquire some of the drops, but when I open up DST I don't receive anything. Twitch gives me notifications telling me I've acquired several drops, but so far I've only received up to the Crystal portrait, and not the wardrobe. Also, with the new honeycomb drop, I've been watching for over half an hour now, and I still haven't gotten anything. I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong? 

My twitch account is connected to klei for rewards, and I currently play on Steam for Mac. Idk if that's relevant, but let me know.

Bug in streaming drops?

I been watching the stream of a player during 6hrs to get the 3 new drops there (AKA Crystalline Honeydome), however never got the third notification. I decided stay for 2 hrs more and the "bell" never told me about the last one. After log in the game to claim the icon & portrait (with a bit of frustration tbh), I got the skin. Yet the twich account never shown the missing notification.

Someone it's dealing with the same issue? This never happened to me before.

Return of Them analysis - What's next ?

Hi everyone. I hope you're feeling comfortable and that you're not afraid of spoilers because "Them" are coming for us today !

I've used the fascinating "theory" tag but I have few doubts on what is happening in Return of Them and what to expect for the next updates, before we start I have to warn you if you don't want to be spoiled on the latest and upcoming updates on the story side. Now let's get into it. (I hope you have a drink)

 

She Sells Sea Shells (SSSS) is one of the last updates installing an atmosphere and context before a conclusion of what I'll call the Celestial Act.

 

So, Is there anything important in SSSS revealing the rest of this act ? Let's have a quick recap :

This update features the Crab King and the Hermit Crab, aka Pearl, the hole point of the update is to be a gentleman and help her to restore the island and do gifts, cute. In time, you will be rewarded with Pearl's Pearl after earning enough friendship lvl. Steer to the Crab King and place the pearl on him, this will have for result to drop an additional loot after you've defeated him which can be obtained only once (cause the pearl is unique and breaks afterward).

 

But which loot ? The Celestial Tribute :

What's the deal with the Celestial Tribute ?

You can tell that it looks important, it's in the game but it does nothing very interesting at now, it's just an all-in-one Celestial Altar.

Which is obviously temporal and the main intend of the structure will be added later :

dcsDT7l.gifIts current role will certainly not be removed but rather improved to unlock the advanced recipes of the Moon Tech tree.

Don't Starve always worked this way with many other Tech trees, for the science, magic and the ruins one :

No, the orb is considered as another one named "MOONORB" but I suggest you to keep an eye on it since its tech tier (MOONORB_LOW) can suggest an upgrade and it's evident when you spot the prefab name of the orb : "moonrockseed"

 

Whatever, it's not a surprise and the Celestial Tribute is clearly indicating it holds mysteries when you look at character inspecting quotes that I recommand you to look at

Some things are redundant in these quotes : such as whispers that are very common around the Lunar topic and... "something" is mentioned more than once like if the survivors wasn't sure of what they're doing and being controlled to serve the Moon.

Building "something" isn't what Wilson and the others want, it's what the source of this power is looking to achieves, otherwise it wouldn't be that much highlighted to us like if it needed to be completed. Think about it : the Moon Island want to rewards you with sanity for being here and do your stuff, it's the complete opposite of the rest of the Constant and especially the Ruins that want you to go away by making you insane.

 

Shadows are already thriving down here : the Ancient Civilisation were nothing less than minions exploited by dark strengths, lured from their greed for fantastic technologies granted with time, slowly but surely allowing the construction of the Ancient Gateway in the Atrium and release Shadows all over the Constant.

 

Look closely on this aspect of the game and you will see a pattern coming up... we're progressively freeing the Celestial side and you can tell this is not the best trade deal in the history : We've been recompensed for facing shadow creatures during our journey in the Constant with various resources like Moon Rocks and Moon Shards, we're now assembling the forgotten Celestial Tribute that was protected by the Crab King with the big conviction it will helps us.

 

I'm pretty sure you know the next step, right ? The Celestial power have mischievous effects on the living : we just have to look at Spiders, Pengulls, Wobsters or vegetations that exist on both of the continents, they're not doing very well on the Lunar Island... and this is the result of a small exposition rate.

Yes it can get worse, you know that your "sanity" regenerate way faster when you're getting close to the Celestial Fissures according to the Moon phases. This means that the greater source of the Celestial power is inside and slightly leaking, flipping its activity like the Nightmare Cycle and it can be extracted in order to use it.

 

Speaking of extraction, we have the Celestial Altar : Have you ever wondered why we can't prototype the Celestial crafts ? Not only because it wouldn't be fun, but especially because there's a missing ingredient in the game, the "Lunar Fuel"... Items like the Glass Cutter have no intrinsic powers from Moon Glass, it have to be filled with the fuel which can only be extracted in great quantity with the Celestial Altar, it's the same process with Thulecite, you must use the altar to fill it or it wouldn't work at all.

 

All the similarities from the Shadow and the Celestial sides seems to have no limit but they must play with equal but yet opposite elements/forces, it is not new but now more predictable nowadays, you can see the Constant as a boardgame like Chess since this one of the best pretext in Don't Starve.

So if we do another comparison with the Shadows, what was missing before SSSS on the Celestial Side ? The Crab King :latest?cb=20200416195100

 

Why is the Crab King important in the story ? He's not actually very important, but he plays the same role as the Ancient Guardian, they're the protectors of the keys, cursed by the abundance of fuel like Maxwell mention for the AC. The Crab King used to be Pearl's husband, the Hermit Crab. We just don't know what exactly happened but we can speculate things went wrong with the poor lad when he received the call of the moon, and progressively turning into what rest of him today.

 

Now that you can compare, is there anything else missing on the Celestial side ? The Chess Pieces ?

No ! Or maybe... It's difficult to determine since the Clockworks aren't the Lunar Chess Pieces but still react to the Full Moon (strongest phase) when the Marble Sculptures are repaired :

We could imagine it's only because Klei didn't wanted to release the Lunar Pieces before RoT but I see a more logic and interesting formula to be applied for the next update :

It involves once again the Celestial Tribute but not only because we should be addle to predict one of the new craft !

 

latest?cb=20200418092539Certainly the most important one of Return of Them ! But first, why is there no Lunar Chess Pieces ?

We discovered something important earlier : Thulecite and Moon Glass have no power if it isn't filled with the proper fuel.

This also works for Shadow Creatures and Gestalts who need the fuel to persist :

  • Shadow Creatures can exist everywhere except on the Moon Island, have a long time existence but will eventually disappear
  • Gestalts have a short life existence since there is not enough fuel and cannot thrive out of the Moon Island

With all these informations, we can confirm that the Celestial side is too weak to take over the Constant and summon its Chess Pieces, so they have been replaced with a neutral side played with the Clockworks.

But we have an ace in the hole with this very unexpected candidate : latest?cb=20161102185608

The Shadow Atrium is nothing more than a receptacle that have been filled with Nightmare Fuel, corrupted and now locked on the Shadow side, however it should be possible to reverse it with the Celestial Tribute and fill it with Lunar Fuel : creating the Celestial Atrium.

 

Now if this is the correct direction of the Celestial Act, we should be capable of interpreting the last fragment of Return of Them which is the finale on the balancing in the duel of the Shadows and the Celestial forces : An equivalent to the Ancient Fuelweaver and Ancient Gateway.

I've started to imagine a last Reanimated Skeleton unique transformation with the Celestial Atrium on the Lunar Island but even if the reanimation was an option, the Stalkers never existed in this place and I expect it more to be a "Forest Stalker like".

 

We have to wait for a following update and see what is exactly added, I believe the next one will reveal an unfinished part of the story just like SSSS did with the Celestial Tribute, potentially the location of the Celestial Gateway on a third part of the moon somewhere on the Constant... or maybe inside the first Lunar Island itself. If so, we'd have the freedom to speculate over it with precision and excitement.

 

Don't Starve Together will now accelerate the story development and I'm very proud of this game development over the ages, it took me the entire night to write this "theory" and think about it. So I hope it's a worthy investment for you and that you discovered a potential finale to RoT at my side and that you have maybe something on your mind to share and complete this somewhat puzzle. :wilson_goodjob:

Suggestion about improving tackle box.

The tackle box and spectackler box was introduced in recent update. In order to open tackle box, first you need to drop the tackle box and right-click to open it. But this mechanism is a little hard when your ship is full of structures like my case in this short clip :

And  I usually store my tackle box in my chests. If the tackle box is dropped on deck, I unintentionally pick up the tackle box so many times, when I try to pick up other things - such as caught fish, salt crystals, monster meat and cookie cutter shell from cookie cutters, etc...

If I want to open tackle box in the chest I need to open the chest and drop the tackle box and right-click the tackle box to open. I feel this a little bit inconvenient. So.. here I suggest to introduce the ways to open containers from.. "The Gorge." You can understand what it means right away after watching this short clip below :

In fact, I was impressed about this opening method when the Gorge came out. If we can open the tackle box and spectackler box this way, It would improve the ocean fishing experience on cramped ol' ship drastically!

Shell Bell Gramophone

With the introduction of musical instruments known as Shell Bells in the latest DST update, players have been using them to make nice songs along paths and walk ways. What if there was a way to record these songs and play them? This is what two new items are for, sheet music and a Shell Bell Gramophone.

Sheet music is crafted with 1 papyrus/1 feather pencil, in the Refinement tab. You get the blueprint from pearl when you unlock her trades. You use the Sheet Music on a shell bell to copy its note onto it, if you want a rest you can click on the Sheet to add a rest which will play silence until another note is played.

When you are done, you can place the Sheet Music into a Shell Bell gramophone and it will add it to its tab. To craft a Shell Bell Gramophone, you buy the blueprint from Pearl (how is she playing music in her house in the first place?). Once you got the blueprint the recipe for the Gramophone will be 1 Large Shell/3 Boards/2 Nightmare fuel. It will be found in the structures tab.

The Shell Bell Gramophone will have a crafting tab when a player is near it, the Music crafting tab will have a list of music that it can play. Just click on any of the music that's available and it will play the song for you.

You can add official Boss themed music by adding the bosses figure sketch to the Gramophone. If you want non-boss music you can add the fishing Adverts, for example adding a crow advert will add Creepy Forest to the gramophone. When you hammer the gramophone with sheet music, boss sketches, or Fishing Adverts, those items will drop on the floor.

So, we are all probably isolated because of "The end of the world" aka Corona virus. And we all are probably are berried in homework from teachers (this one if you are a student). But also we all have some free time and we all have already done every thing possible to stain sane. Isolation is not good for people, that's why I decided to create this free participate project:

A lot of you love to create, build, in this game. I am sure that you have wonderful perspectives, so this is the challenge: Each weak I will write here a project that you can build, ether on your world without console, or with the "to many items", then after building it post it here as a photo with the areal view mod. Under the photo say if you did it with or without console.

The project is supposed to be fun, so any one wont compare your build with the buildings of others.

If you have any suggestions for a new project for the next weak then writ it down below! 

So if you want to participate, then here is your first weak project: Build a pig city / pig hamlet , also give it a name! The dead line will be next Thursday! :wilson_pirate:
