Where are the new Verdant skins?

So it seems that Merrymaker and Snowfallen seem to be the same thing, but what I suppose is that Merrymaker features the warmer parts of Winter while Snowfallen emphasizes the cold?

Does this mean that Klei will make a second Verdant alternative set or...?

Redesign the Oasis

I said that I was only going to Create Three Thread topics throughout the rest of year of 2020, The first one was about Wendy’s Belongings Skins that will no doubt come with her Refresh. You can check it out over here:

But this Second Thread is about something I feel is equally just as important, the Oasis Biome.. the current version well it looks like this.. first image here and it’s always in a large empty rocky desert. 

What I would like to see is the entire desert here covered in sand (you know like how most real life deserts are supposed to look..?) And that the player wanders around in a almost completely empty sandy plot of land until they stumble upon the Actual Oasis Itself just out there somewhere within that sandy desert.

If it is at all possible I would love to see “Mirage” versions of the Oasis, that once you got right up on it disappeared until you finally found the Real One which would look more like this second photo.

I am pretty Sick and Tired of people saying Shipwrecked Content has absolutely no place in DST.. I want Walani & SW Biomes in the game but instead of simply saying it over and over again I’ve decided to go a couple steps further and edit a few photos to show that when applied in the right place.. Shipwrecked Theme content CAN Exist in DST.

I know that this question may or may not have been asked in the past, but i just want to be sure i'm not missing out. Is there any way that wx78 can charge himself? I tried the telelocator staff and charged voltgoat both in which didn't work. Do you guys have any ideas about this?

It farts at >80% but keeping it at that level seems like a waste. Also encourages it to become Peggy.

I also do not understand the pattern of it asking for food (when does it decide to run towards you and open its mouth?).

my abigail rework idea

hello forum, as you may know, it is speculated that wendy will be the one to receive the next character rework, and i have been playing wendy as my character main for at least a week in preparation of the wendy rework

i like all of wendy's current perks, but i think that abigail could use some changes because right now, she is not as strong as she could be, especially compared to the new bernie

here is my suggestion:

-abigail does not have enough hp, when she was brought over to dst: together all of the mobs in the game got higher hp stat, but not abigail

my proposed change is to give her at least double the hp, but 42 500 hp would be best, if she is to be properly balanced and meta so she can better compete with bosses like dragonsfly and toadstoal

-when willow got her buff, bernie got a extra form where is big and does damage and it is super cool

so here is my proof of concept of redesigned buffed abigail

(this is my original art keli is allowed to use it but please do not repost without permision, any resemblance to other official characters is purely coincidental)

this form is triggered when wendy is under 50% sanity, abigail grows stronger to help her and can now attack nightmares

she does 5x the damage, and now has been given arms so she can now perform suplexes on the enemies

-finally, abigail should receive a AI rework, she now avoids tentacles in the swamp and all other hostile mobs, she will only attack when wendy is attacking, but only if the mob is neutral or passive, not hostile

-when forge comes back next year this can be her new form when wendy picks up the companion armour, she would function identical to the swineclops boss, except that she is on your side

-this can also be her new form for gorge, she will help wendy chop trees

I haven’t been able to summon the ancient fuelweaver on my 2.4k world. I wonder why is that?. Wigfrid said “T’will not raise from the dead, it seems”, when I tried to give Shadow Atrium to the skeleton. It’s been 2 summers :(

I'm really curious on what y'all think would be the most ideal rework order, as in "who should get reworked next, and next, and next (etc)" 

Here's my suggestion which is ranked by "Who needs it most" in my opinion. Comment below yours, or if you agree with me.

 

* = Part of the Big 3. JoeW said that they're scared to touch these characters.

Note that this does not account for surprise reworks from Singleplayer Characters (like Warly)

1. Wendy
-- Wendy as of now simply sucks; Abi's AI is VERY suicidal. Also it's practically confirmed that she's next anyway.

2. Webber
--Has absolutely nothing going for him after early-game. It is astronomically rare to see people playing Webber in long-running worlds.

3. Maxwell
--Boring to play; Farm materials, Fight Shadow Creatures. Plus him being an ex-antagonist + edgy magician has so much potential.

4. WX*
--All of his upsides are simple stat changes (save for Overcharge's light), and his downside may as well not even exist.

5. Wolfgang*
--He can be REALLY strong, but his playstyle is very simple, barely differing from the average.

6. Wicker*
--Has a more diverse playstyle than Wolfgang, which is why she's further back.

7 Wifgrid
--Wigfrid is generally considered to have a fun playstyle, and doesn't really need a higher up rework slot.

8. Wes
--Wes is supposed to be the challenge character, so the others should get reworked first.

9. Wilson
--It just feels right to have Wilson end it off.

Don't Starve Together Roadmap 2020

Hey everybody. Just taking a moment to check-in and update you all with the roadmap for 2020.

Please note that roadmaps are provided to give the community a sense on what we are working on and what is driving our decisions for what we are focusing on in the coming year. None of this is a promise or a guarantee. We always prioritize quality over deadlines and all dates and timelines are estimated to the best of our current ability. Many long time fans will know that we often add new things to these plans which often shifts things around a bit, so it is recommended to avoid scheduling your vacation plans around our dates.

This roadmap is subject to change at any time, but as we have done in the past, if any of this does change significantly we will post new information as we have it. 

A quick recap of 2019. 

2019 was a fantastic year for DST. We added four new characters to the game and we refreshed three more characters. We also had three substantial content updates with Return of them: Turn of Tides, Salty Dog and Hook Line and Inker. We also saw big updates to our holiday events Hallowed Nights, Winter's Feast and Year of the Carrat. During all of that we hit our highest player concurrency record back in April (during a free weekend) and after that craziness had stabilized we just saw our second highest concurrency last week. 

For those of you who aren't super into numbers, what that means is that Don't Starve Together is still growing quite nicely. This is also a clear indicator that our plan of character refreshes, content updates and new characters has been working to help keep a healthy community and continues to keep the game interesting for new and returning players.  

On that note, we're still very aware that many people want to see events like The Forge and The Gorge come back. While we are not prepared for that right now, we do understand that this is something many of you are interested in and we are still discussing ways to address this in the future.

Oh, and not for nothing, we took great strides in console support. We didn't always hit the mark, but most everything we can control directly has been working out quite well over the past year or so. We will continue improving console support as best we can through 2020. 

What we're doing in 2020

We're going to continue with generally the same plan as last year. More character refreshes and content. However, at this time we aren't going to commit to a specific number of new characters. While the new characters were very well received and successful in selling well enough to help fund development we also don't want to add new characters just for the sake of it. With that being said we are currently in the process of creating at least one entirely new character for the future and we will have more information about them as we get closer to release. 

For our update timeline, we expect that we will have something being launched at least once a month. We don't want to do more updates in a shorter period of time so we can be sure the updates are more substantial and interesting. Depending on how that lines up we may see a couple updates during some months and sometimes we may go a little past a month for the next update, but our goal is that you have something interesting to look forward too at least once a month. 

Our first character refresh is a bit of a secret at the moment - but you might be able to guess. You will be seeing more info about that during the first or second week of March. For now, enjoy this small teaser from the update trailer we are working on.

Lore. Yep. I said Lore. 

Something we know everybody wants is more lore. I am not going to say much more for now. But we know you want more lore.  It would be smart from this point on to get back into scrutinizing things we put out for secrets. Not everything, but keep your eyes open. Not this post though. There are no secrets in this post. So scrutinizing this post would probably be a waste of your time. Probably. (But really, there is nothing to find here. You'll know when there is something to be found.) 

While Maxwell enjoyed hiding little secrets for you to find and seemed to bask in your attention, Charlie has been quite content to work from the shadows, planning and patiently working to put her pieces into play. Things will become much more apparent as her plans become to take shape and she finally takes center stage. 

The other stuff. 

We're also going to continue doing other cool new things. We really want to work on Klei Rewards more and streaming items have been really popular so we're thinking of new and interesting things to do with these while continuing to support them throughout the year. 

And finally. 

We're also aware than some players would like us to make more substantial changes to the overall base game of Don't Starve Together and change things up a bit. While this is not a focus right now, we do understand this is something that is being discussed and I invite you to continue those conversations. Don't Starve Together isn't going away any time soon, so keep it coming.

All of your feedback really helps us figure out where we want to put our resources and it goes a long way in helping us decide which direction to steer the ship. You're all a huge part of the growth of DST and we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for hanging out with us and sharing your fun stories and interesting ideas. [Discussion] On Aboveground Geography

Since I haven't seen much threads about DST's general surroundings, here is a a thread we get to discuss most, if not all the elements of the aboveground biomes such that people can identify and find them better

I've managed to gather a compendium of the patterns of locations I've seen in-game alongside screenshots of worlds (though some of them are console-revealed and therefore lack important details :/ )

1. "Midlands"

Spoiler

 - Also known as the area near spawn, it's a mishmash of grassland, sparse woodland and a savannah with rabbit holes.

 - Pretty much has got the basic resources and food sources down.

 - Being that this is the immediate area new players stumble upon, they make encampments here near the rabbit holes or near spawn

2. "Large Savannah"

Spoiler

 - Usually found rather near spawn as well, large savannahs contain tons of grass and herds of beefalo, with a chance for spider dens to spawn.

 - They also almost always have a patch of sparsely-wooded forest turf as well, and may serve a a link to lots of other biomes.

 - Newbs base here too to use beefs as protection from hound waves.

3. "Swamp"

Spoiler

 - Large swamps are one of the most infamous hostile biomes ingame, with merms, spiders and tentacles upholding the swamps fearsome reputation.

 - However, the reeds in swamp cannot be found elsewhere and you'll need them for birdcages and wicker's books, among other things.

 - Swamps usually have a branching path, with one of the two branches leading into "merm territory" - a nice set piece with lots of Pig heads on sticks, perfect for the survivor searching for an easy source of pig skin.

 - Swamps may vary in worldgen; sometimes they'll spawn right near the portal, other times they'll spwan really far away, but generally tend to the latter.

4. "Birchnut Forest"

Spoiler

There are two kinds of birchnut forest, one with the pig king and one without, but aside from those differences, they exhibit similar characterteristics:

 - tons of birchnut trees, moleworms, mushrooms and fireflies with the occassional pig house, boulder and basic resource strung around

 - usually spawns rather far from spawn

 - Pig King Forest may or may not have a road leading to PK that also leads to Other Pig Village. PK forest also has Glommer Statue.

 - Pig King forests seem to connect to Mosaic biomes a lot (please confirm!)

 - Birch forests can spawn Klaus' Sack and No-Eyed Deer.

 - PK base is usually a solid choice to base for newbs and intermediate players alike owing to the plentiful food sources and vicinity to Pigs, PK and Glommer

5. "Mandrake/beef forests"

Spoiler

  - One of three thick forests, filled with spider nests, trees, some gravestones and a few pig houses

  - in the middle of it is a Grasslands without any grass, berries or twigs - instead, there's more trees than usual, and mandrakes in the ground. 

  -  Usually far

  - May also have small patches of savannah and a herd or 2 of beefs as a result.

6. "Moonstone forest"

Spoiler

 - Aside from the moonstone and the usual accoutrement of a thick forest, this forest also contains at least 1 walrus camp.  

 - Usually very far from spawn, usually making up the tip of a world branch.

 - Skilled players base here to take advantage of the Moonstone and vicinity to Tusk

As you may notice, the very small patch of grassland is the moonstone. The larger patch has the mactusks.

7. "Thick forest"

Spoiler

 - A heavily wooded area with lots of spiders, some gravestones and rarities of grass and twigs.

 - May have Small Pig Village and Small Swamp. The latter can be a place for Chester's Eye Bone to spawn.

 - Usually far to reach.

8. "Frog ponds grassland"

Spoiler

Usually demarcated by a looping road which may also lead to a molefield on another end, this is a grassland with the absolute limit of frog ponds smack within. The looping road is usually a place to find Chester's Eye Bone.

9. "Bee Queen grassland"

Spoiler

 - A fertile grassland with some bees in the middle and a killer bee nest or two guarding the Bee Queen. Hs some forest smack miiddle or somewhere t least like a Large Savannah.

10. "Rockyland"

 - A vast plain full of boulders and glaciers, with the only life being Buzzards.

11. "Mosaic"

Spoiler

 - A mishmash of biomes and turfs, with regular resources slapped sparsely throughout.

 - May have a chance to be populated with grass gekkos.

 - Has a graveyard, a meteor field (which is most likely to spawn tallbirds) and the critter den.

 - Usually spawns far from spawn.

 - Newbs draw near it, basing right smack in the meteor field.

12. "Dragonfly Desert"

Spoiler

A desert containing buzzards, lots of cacti, Hound Mounds, tumbleweeds and the Dragonfly's Den. May be merged with the Oasis desert. Sometimes may spawn rather close to spawn, but usually tends to be far away. To note is also a small patch of Savannah.

13. "Oasis desert"

Spoiler

 - A desert containing the Oasis, volt goats, buzzards and the Antlion during summer

 - The only biome affected by a sandstorm, also during summer.

 - The sandstorm grants smolder immunity, but slows movement without desert goggles.

14. "Triple MacTusk"

Spoiler

A rare biome which is a mishmash of savannah, rockylands and grasslands. Rockylands especially known to have tallbirds. Biome named as such due to the presence of three Mactusk n Son encampments. Usually very far to reach. Evidence suggests it usually connects/is near to deserts.

17. "Spider Quarry"

It's a rockyland with a lumpy forest smack w ithin, and the rockylands have lots of tier 1-2 spider nests with gold interspersed in the sticky webbing. The best place to be if you're a webber main.

18. "Killer Bee Fields"

A rare biome which i do not have a picture as of yet, it's a patch of grssland chock full of flowers, killer bees, bees and grass. Run through at your leisure - bees cannot kill you if you stay mobile due to their nerfed range. Excellent source of stinger sand honey, especially for wnedy mains. It usually forms near Oasis desert.

19. Lunar Island

 - The only islands in the game so far, with its own exclusive content e.g. Moon altars, Hot Springs, Moon Glass, Lune Trees and most importantly Stone Fruits

 - Hounds here revive after death

 - Your sanity turns into enlightenment here

 - Natural habitat of Shattered Spiders, Anenemies, Carrats and Saladmanders

The Strongman - Wolfgang Rework Ideas

Hey all,

So since Klei is making reworks for everyone, I kinda wanted to drop my 5 cents into the debate, mainly with a part of the trinity, the Strongman and none other than Mr. Wolfgang (von Goet- nevermind).

Let's start by getting his description

    Wolfgang is an affable, musclebound giant with a heart plagued by a myriad of phobias.
  • Gets stronger with a full belly
  • Is afraid of the dark and monsters
     

And now for the actual perks

Wolfgang changes forms based on his Hunger Status from Wimpy to Normal to Mighty
With his new Forms he gains advantages/disadvantages, Speed, Health Changes, Damage Modifiers and Hunger Modifiers

Wolfgang's Sanity Drain is increased by 10%

Now these perks are kinda interesting, but not really. In my opinion basing something on Hunger makes them a food-hog, so that's already a negative impact.
So let's start with the first edit idea; Changing how his Form changes work.

Now Wolfgang's Forms are based on his internal workout value, which can be increased by training on Training Stations. The Longer you use these stations the more mightiness you gain but also lose more hunger (because we all know how Workouts can be exhausting). This value drains overtime, so you wont be mighty forever. The more careless you are about working out, the Wimpier you become and eventually land on the Wimpy Form.
Now for perks coming with these Workouts could be managed in many ways, I just showed ya a dumbbell station, but this could be expanded to a Treadmill and such. These stations give you buffs for stats, let's say you run a lot on the Treadmill, well your Speed Boost increases (needs a cap tho) if you lift a lot of dumbbells you gain a strength modifier. Now keep in mind Im not saying Wolfgang here, since these stations could be used by anyone! Of course our fellow survivors have no real idea how to use them, thus their increases from these stations are way tinier than Wolfgang's.

TL;DR crap the Hunger Based Forms and implement 'Mightiness' which controls the form swaps, add Stations to train modifiers

For his Forms, instead of flat changes, let's make them increase or decrease the caps/efficiency of the Modifiers. Let's say you are normal, so your benefits from training would be equal to the standard Wolfgang modifier, keep in mind we are keeping his from other characters to make him the character that benefits the most from them, if you are Wimpy these decrease to a normal Survivor's cap/efficiency, if you are Mighty then of boy you get yourself a strong increase!
Now controlling the forms actually benefits you a lot since you could run like a mad man or punch like you mean it!

TL;DR make his Forms improve or worsen the Benefits from the Stations

In addition to that, Wolfgang's Wimpy form would have a reduced movement speed as it is at the moment, Wolfgang's Normal Form should carry heavy objects such as statues slightly faster than others and Wolfgang's Mighty Form should carry them at normal speed, he's a Strongman, c'mon! as well as a flat increased Damage Modifier because he's mighty, DUH!

TL;DR have some forms special attributes regardless if trained

As for his Downside of having fear of Monsters, Night and Shadows, let's make it a bit more impactful, because 10% increase sounds like an effin' joke. Now Wolfgang's Sanity Drain during Dusk and Night are stronger, and maybe these times would even affect Wolfgang's Damage Output? This just keeps it basic to not make it too strong since you can't really control this in early game, but let's say even with a Tam during Night or Dusk you sanity wont increase, but also not decrease.
Wolfgang near monsters has a chance to drop his weapon out of fear, or get scared, whenever scared Wolfgang can not attack, forcing him to flee. The chances for these things to occur are tied to his Sanity/Insanity. If Wolfgang is completely Insane, he will be very likely to panic out, if he's completely Sane, he can handle it. Now will this majorly impact him? I think so! If you can't attack enemies that can attack you, you are a "sitting duck" (can't do anything in a fight), so you should keep Wolfgang sane to not make him too frightened of what he's seeing! Maybe even make a Group of Monsters freak wolfgang more out than a single enemy!

TL;DR Wolfgang should have a better downside, something that makes him less useful if overwhelmed/insane


That's all, it ain't much of a game changer, but makes Wolfgang less 2D in my opinion. Do you agree? Maybe not? Share your thoughts in the Comments, especially if you love playing Wolfgang. If we won't voice our Opinions now, we may recieve another not fully thought-out change just like Winona.
 


Discussion about problem with Suggestions & Feedback forum

Hello there, there is a problem with Suggestions and Feedback forum. The problem with it is that not many people see and discuss about those suggestions which is not helping with telling if the community like or dislike them which also not helping developers. Another problem is that the threads that are moved there are easly forgotten about and basicly left to die. So maybe we should merge Suggestions & Feedback forums with General discussion, becouse there some really good suggestions that need to be discussed about, I think it would allow more people to see it and it would also help devs to tell how many people like it. General discussion would be really good place for Suggestions and Feedback and those 2 things are also some sort of discussions right? What do you think? Should those two forums be merged together? Btw if this thread will be moved to Suggestions & Feedback, that would be ironic.

Sailing Competition

Hey everyone,

So I organized the sailing competition and I want to share the video recording with you. I have to say the hardest thing was getting players to the start line and making sure their boats won't crash before the competition (knowing how difficult it can be to manage DST boats). The competition was a great challenge for all the players and only 1 person survived the race.

What do you think about such live events? Do you prefer events that you can do at your pace (The Year of The Carrat) or the ones you need to do with other players (The Forge)?

Wortox's tail suggestion

Basically, my suggestion is to somehow give him a tail slot or link it to the head.

Wortox, has some interesting tails based on "pants" he has equipped.

But, to keep the tail right now you either have to wear "Undergarment" or an top piece that covers bottom (which also caused a lot of graphical bugs when RoT started). I'd love it to be "head" based instead of linked to pants. Without leg piece tail will look like a normal Wortox tail, but different color (Basically Minotaur's pants piece).

Unrelated to the topic, but it also has a bug with the way bottom piece looks with some outfits:

What would be your Mob refresh ?

I just had that silly idea since we're (a lot) talking about the next refreshes of DST characters and peoples are coming out with fantastic stuff.

If we wad to make a refresh for some of the actual stuff regarding game's creatures, on who and what would you focus on ?

 

 

On my side I'd pick bats, cuz' I like them but they don't like anyone of us on the game :/

And I will LITERALLY pick bats so I can fix this ! What do I mean ? Well, for those who knows old facts on Don't Starve, maybe you've noticed than bats have an unused inventory icon, which is this one :

K, so your first question might be "Whatcha gonna do with a bat ?"

Hmm... First, let's get the bat's trust ! You don't want the lil' devil to munch your fingers, don't you ? For that, we'd need to give the bat some food daily and after 3 days or so, she'll looks slightly more peaceful and you can now pet the bat to maximise your friendship, if you do it before getting her trust, she'll bite you and escape from your inventory (You just get what you deserved! /s)

If things go well, according to character examination quotes, you should think about releasing the bat and... oh wow, she's friendly and follow you !

Now what can a bat do ? Bat stuff of course ! Such as catching bugs ! Now you have your own flying Bug Net, bats will catch Mosquitoes, Butterflies, Bees (WAIT DON'T DO THAT!), and even Fireflies. And give them back to you if she's not hungry, keep your bat happy.

Something funny I had in mind is also to make them a good ally in caves during earthquakes, like... when it starts, your bat will rise and reflect a shadow on top of you, so you know where she is. If a rock is about to fall on you, the bat will deflect its direction so you don't have to avoid it (must be some dark magic). If there's multiple rocks, you'd need multiple bats, they can't get all of your bad luck in the same time, do it worth it to have more bats ? If you ask a bat-lover, yes such as me : yes.

 

 

SO ! That was quite a long but complete idea of mine, I'm also looking for your ideas, dunno, I might be in the mood of doing a bat taming mod or something from what you have in mind...:wilson_curious:
