Wardrobe idea
You should be able to use the wardrobe to change the skins of items you already have
This'll be especially useful with starting item skins like Ashley since you'd normally just repair Bernie instead of going through the trouble of getting beard hair for a new one
and this'll also open up opportunities for skins of items like tam o shanters tentacle spikes
Ocean fishing chart!
So! I've been playing on some worlds and have come to really enjoy fishing! But I couldnt always remember which fish liked what or where they can be.
Soooo! To help with this! I made a helpful fishing chart that easily gives info on every type of fish there is!
Most of the information I got from the wiki, so if anything changes or is incorrect, please tell me and I will try to fix it
Hope you guys find it helpful!
Edit: I have corrected incorrect information on what lures can be used! as well as added new information on what floats and lures can be used and their stats! Happy fishing!
Giblet beaks...
I'm going by deduction of colors but it looks like when a Giblet gets older, their beak becomes a new head and the skull pushes out a new beak. What are your theories?
Something interesting I've found
When examining Withered Stone Fruit Bush Wormwood says something like this: 'Rest well old friend'
According to Wickerbottom Lunar Islands are a new thing in the Constant. That means that it's that Moon Gem speaking through Wormwood in that quote.
I think that's pretty neat.
Character/Player stereotypes!
I saw this going around in another fandom I'm in and found super fun, so thought I could bring this little game here as well. DST is a multiplayer game and naturally we find all kinds of people when we enter a server, but have any of you realized how sometimes the same kind of people play the same characters? That's what the game is about. From your experience, what are the stereotypes you met, and, to add even more fun, do you relate to any of the descriptions of your main? Be honest!! haha
- Like, for example, most of the wurts i've met have went to play solo even on dedicated servers. They pop up, say nothing, and then go live their own hermit life far away from the main base xD I understand, tho, marsh base rules
- Woodie mains, always on packs. I dont know what's called a group of canadian, shape-shifting lumberjacks, but everytime i played with a woodie I'd see two, sometimes three other woodies around and equaly excited to turn into moose
- One of my best experiences on pub has been on a Wes only server, to be honest. I guess after all the memes, they all start to live on the memes. We all died in incredibly comic ways, no one minded that, and I'll never forget the amount of skeletons that surrounded Dragonfly that day. Brave souls.
- Winonas and Warlies are usually the moms and dads on the group. They're always on the base, making food and asking if anyone needs anything repaired, and if there's a Wig nearby, they usually receive "yes" to both
- Webber and Willows are usually the ones used by trolls for SOME reason, which honestly makes it hard for those who actually want to play for real as them. Sorry, fam, may yall be fairly treated someday
- Nobody plays wilson (rip)
- Wortoxes tend to be super pro yet super chill players? I've seen many helping newer players on long lasting servers, sometimes rescuing them even. Five minutes later they're in the ruins, ten and they've defeated fullweaver solo, three more minutes and they're near the science machine receiving their second wendy guest of honor skin
Mobs moving whilst attacking
Looking through both the dragonfly.lua & dragonflybrain.lua I couldnt seem to find where the dragonfly gets its ability to attack while it's still pursuing you. I was hoping I could apply this feature to a few other mobs to sort of just test and **** around with it for fun. Any help/thoughts?
Who broke the moon?
Just like Wurt, we got a chicken and the egg situation:
Did Wormwood or THEM break the moon?
By this logic, if Hamlet already existed before Wormwood was born, does that mean Hamlet is after/during Charlie's reign?
The Year of the Carrat Begins This Thursday!
Hey Everybody. We hope you have been enjoying the Winter's Feast-ivities! You still have a couple more days of merriment and then The Year of the Carrat begins!
Starting this Thursday (10am Pacific time) celebrate the Year of the Carrat.
- Compete in the cut throat world of Carrat Racing to earn Lucky Gold Nuggets.
- Build Gyms to train prize Carrats.
- Construct longer and longer Carrat race courses to raise the stakes.
- Purchase old and new rewards from the Carrat Shrine, such as Red Firecrackers, Lucky Beast costumes, and the new Floating Lantern.
We'll also be adding some new skin sets. This time around we will not have any character skins and are focusing on items.
And finally, we will be adding new streaming drops. The Glass Eyebrella will join the Crystaline collection.
More details will come Thursday. See you then!
THANK YOU KLEI
I felt that a thread had to be made just to thank Klei for the beautiful skins that they are going to introduce to us soon.
IT'S BEAUTIFUL. There are skins for so many items that haven't yet got their own skins before this. Gold tools, dark armor, dark sword, bunny hutch, bee box, shadow manipulator, campfire, shroom lamp, meat hanger, dragonscale furnace, and I'm guessing that I still missed some other items.
I also love the skins for the items that already have a bunch of skins. The wooden gate, wall and sign skins are so simple, but still provides subtle variety for bases, which is still amazing. The tool skins look great. The backpack skins look great. Everything looks great. You're the best, Klei!
Now, everyone else say how thankful they are. Do it!
Maxwell Idea: "Unlocks the full potential of Magic"
I felt like brainstorming possible Maxwell ideas (in lieu of @Axelocke's thread) and I came up with this idea:
What If items in the Magic Tab gained additional effects when used by Maxwell?
He is, in fact, a magician, so it isn't too far off the mark, yeh?
Here are all of my ideas for magic items, ie what effects Maxwell could unlock when using them.
General Changes to all items listed:
-Effects that lower sanity don't apply to Maxwell.
-Maxwell uses 50% less durability when using an item from the Magic Tab, including instant durability loss and durability loss over time.
Meat Effigy:
-Attuned players will resurrect with full health, hunger, and sanity, in addition to gaining 15% movement speed for 4 minutes. The effigy will resemble Maxwell instead of Wilson, to display the fact that it's an upgraded version.
The full stats are an easy choice for an upgraded meat effigy, and don't need further explaining. The movement speed buff, however, helps the resurrectee to get back to their items more quickly. Plus, experienced players could possibly use maxwell effigies for bosses and such, utilizing the movement speed if one does. Note that other characters can attune to these effigies.
Pan Flute:
-Mobs put asleep will not wake up if they are initially hit, instead waking up when they take a certain amount (Generally 250, 500 for bosses.) Mobs will still wake up normally if enough time passes.
The Pan flute is one of the few magic items that is widely and commonly used. Giving Maxwell a powerful effect to it may change the meta surrounding it, and make Maxwell the preferrable holder ot it.
One Man Band:
-Hostile mobs such as Spiders and Hounds will follow you, but are NOT befriended and will remain neutral until you unequip the One Man Band or it breaks.
The One Man Band could become a "panic button" to Maxwell. If he was unprepared for a Hound Wave, he could throw it on and lead the hounds elsewhere. However, the Hounds would aggro the moment Maxwell unequips it, so realistically it only delays the wave, not deals with it.
Night Light:
-Automatically light up when Maxwell is nearby. The more insane he is, the brighter it burns.
Right now the Night Light is a honest contender for the worst item in the game. Giving it such a powerful effect (infinite light) while still locking it behind it's expensive crafting recipe would change the base-building meta as a whole and make it more commonplace, assuming that people bother to play Maxwell.
Dark Sword and Night Armor:
-No extra effects, save for the ones in "General Changes".
The Dark Sword is the most used magic item in the game, by far. It's one downside is the low durability. Maxwell simply throws that out the window with his inherent 50% durability use. This applying to the Night Armor as well turns it from a paperweight into a powerful armor option, giving it more durability than the marble suit. This may sound doodoo OP, but remember Maxwell's low HP of 75. These two items no longer having a sanity drain will change how Maxwell gets to low sanity, instead having to rely on green caps and glommer goop.
Bat Bat:
-On hit, gain 4% movement speed for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 20%.
Following the "Life Steal" idea, Maxwell could gain speed when attacking an enemy, allowing him to kite more effectively. The Bat Bat would also have 150 durability, giving it (and Maxwell) more survivability. Remember that it's a pain in the rear end to craft in the early and mid game.
Belt of Hunger:
-Increased hunger loss reduced from 40% to 50%.
The Belt of Hunger is alright, and doesn't really *need* anything special, so a simple stat change is all that's really necessary.
Life Giving Amulet:
-Maxwell is healed more often when wearing it, recovering 5 health (and draining 5 hunger) once every 15 seconds instead of 30.
The secondary use of the Amulet (healing when worn) is almost never used, ever. Making the healing work more often would motivate Maxwell to use it for that purpose, especially considering his max HP. Resurrecting with the Amulet does not give any additional effects or benefits, because it is already a powerful utility in that regard.
Chilled Amulet:
-Along with the inherent 50%, the Chilled Amulet loses durability 250% slower, totalling to 300% slower, or 18 minutes.
-Mobs that hit Maxwell start to freeze, and eventually do if hit more than once, similar to an ice staff. This drains 2% durability per hit, regardless of damage.
Apparently the Chilled Amulet already had this second effect according to the wiki. Who knew? Anyways, giving the Chilled amulet 3x more durability will make it more commonly used for said second effect.
Nightmare Amulet:
-Shadow Creatures summoned from the Nightmare amulet drop 2-4 nightmare fuel instead of the usual 1-2.
With Maxwell's main source of insanity gone (Dark Sword / Night Armor no longer having sanity drain to him), the Nightmare Amulet is now more potent than ever. Because of Maxwell's proposed durability perk, the amulet would last a little more than 6 minutes, meaning that Maxwell could spend nearly a whole day farming nightmare fuel, and get much, much, MUCH more than any other character. This will also make up for the fact that he can't used the aforementioned Dark Sword + Night Armor combos to constantly be insane.
Fire Staff:
-Now deals direct damage when attacking a mob, dealing 45 damage.
-Can be refueled with Nightmare fuel by Maxwell for 50% durability (20 out of 40 uses)
Giving the Fire Staff direct damage would change it from being garbo to being a contender for Maxwell's primary weapon of choice. It will still have a REALLY low durability of 40 (in relation to other weapons), so making it refuelable by Maxwell allows the Fire Staff to be a staple of his loadout. Plus, a viable ranged weapon is neat.
Ice Staff:
-Now does AoE; When a mob is hit with the Ice Staff's projectile, surrounding mobs will also start to freeze / be frozen.
With an AoE, the Ice staff goes from just a "wildfire prevention" item to a crowd control weapon. If Maxwell is being swarmed by hounds, spiders, or anything else that attacks in groups, Maxwell could escape an otherwise unsurvivable situation. Note that this will also help wonders against splumonkeys underground, as they are otherwise unstoppable when in a large group.
Telelocator Staff:
-The animation for casting is 50% faster.
The Telelocator staff doesn't really need anything, so simply making the animation faster could help in a few niche situations, such as teleporting yourself out of a situation (but does anyone actually do that?)
Telelocator Focus:
-When used, only one socket will lose a gem instead of all three.
A simple change, but making each teleport only cost 1 purple gem instead of 3 allows teleportation to occur much more often. A Maxwell could possibly substitute this for the Lazy Deserter. Not completely of course, but carrying a Tele staff as a "get home quick" device becomes something other than a complete waste of resources.
Ocuvigil:
-Visible radius is now twice as big when built by Maxwell.
Again, simple change. This actually isn't really necessary, but no stone left unturned, I guess.
Moon Dial:
-...?
Do you have any ideas? I sure as hell don't.
The Lazy Deserter:
-When channeled by Maxwell, he can stop channeling and leave a shadow puppet of himself in place, continuing to channel until the Deserter is activated of the puppet is killed. This counts as an active shadow puppet, meaning that the maximum amount of puppets that Maxwell can have following him is reduced by 1.
A simple concept, but it doesn't take much to imagine the uses one could utilize with this. You could take a trip across the map, and then teleport back in a second without the need of another player. Going to the PK, which is halfway across the map because you suck at choosing a base location? (/s) Only take the trip 1 way, and then teleport back at virtually no cost. Keep in mind that a puppet channeling the Deserter will allow any player to teleport to it, not just Maxwell.
Keep in mind that these are ideas, and I'm just spitballing for the fun of it.
Thots?
Wilson rework concept (still updating)
So I've been seeing alot of Wilson rework ideas lately and I've been thinking of an idea concept for a wilson rework based my idea of who wilson is as a character and things based on others ideas to mix it up together. So enjoy (: (I'll draw pictures as well but they might take a while.)
Perks:
* Is a true chemist at heart!(Chemistry tab and using potions to your advantage)
This idea came from a previous post about reworking wilson, inspiration comes from @loopuleasa here's the link
Wilson spawns into the world starting with his own portable Chemistry table (maybe not portable but still thinking) Wilson can use it to craft his own sets of chemistry potions and ect to be able to support and aid his fellow survivors. Some people say it should work like the mad scientist lab where you had specific ingredients. I think it would be more interesting if it worked like cooking in a crockpot putting stuff in to see what you would get, that way it could really put more of a testing and experimental playstyle similar to Warly's gamestyle of experimenting with food and ingredients to see what you get. I dont have any great ideas on what the potions should be but you guys suggest, I'd love to see what people think of.
*Bonus to first perk lab rats experimenting
I thought of adding this as a little extra reference to Wilson's lab rats in the forbidden knowledge trailer
Wilson can also craft cages to hold in lab rats to experiment on. (I dont know if the lab rats will already be there or he'll have to catch them) Wilson can give a food item or potions that he makes from his lab to see what effect it has on a player, this is a great way for new players or advanced players to test on things their unsure of like for example probably as a joke if wilson feeds a lab rat a deadly item like a red mushroom or monster meat the labrat would probably die and turn into a skeleton and wilson would say something like "Yeah, Let's not..."
*likes to plan ahead (blueprint crafting)
I can't find the original post for this idea, if anyone knows or it sounds familiar please let me know cause I would love to credit them here.
If we look into the trailers and game art Wilson usually builds alot of things. Wilson built Maxwell's door by hand, he built the florid postern, seems like the man with a plan using brains over brawn. This is a mix between the original concept of blueprint crafting and my idea to shake it up... Wilson has the ability to make blueprints that way early game a wilson can help his team get a headstart. This might be a little bit broken meaning a wilson can supposedly rush to late game items, so maybe it works similar to Wickerbottom where wilson can make blueprints of items one tier ahead of his current crafting tier for example wilson could make a blueprint of a backpack early game and share it with his fellow survivors.
Rework skin:
I thought his rework skin could reference him in his apron, maybe a wilson with a hairstyle after an explosion like in the trailer.just basically the result of a failed experiment.
New belongings:
I couldnt really find much but they could perhaps reference Wilson's safety mask he used during the forbidden knowledge trailer. Maybe this could be used for the dessert goggles, Or something.
final thoughts:
This was me writing ideas for concept I gotten inspired off of other beautiful people from these forums. If only I could credit the person who originally made the blueprint idea... if anyone have any suggestions or ideas, let's talk about it
I always thought it was weird how wilson never really had anything sciene related in the game despite him being a wannabe scientist and I tried making these ideas working that still
1. Gives Wilson an optional power that way wilson still gives a true experience of the game
2.Still attempts to make wilson a basic character with his own unique ability
3. Goes into Wilson's backstory and basing powers on his personality and hobbies similar to whinona
I'll be reading and responding back in the comments thanks for reading this and I hope you have a great day, I love you all and this wonderful community, stay strong but most importantly Don't Starve!
Sorry for bad english
"Where were u when Wilsun die"
"I was at base eatin metbal wen lazy desert ring"
"Wilsun is kil"

All Released Skins (as of now)
I started this thread back in 2016 as a time waster to catalogue every single skin in DST. Since then I've been revisiting this thread and adding more and more as DST's skin system grew ever bigger into the behemoth it is now. It's now 3 years later and I'm still at it!
As of March 2nd, 2019, this thread has now been added as Featured! Thanks Joe!

Offline Issues
Hello its me, again!
I'm from Turkey and in the Turkish university dorms, the internet connection is limited. After using 15 GB (I think its lesser) we cant connect to internet and school don't let us to playing games in libraries. I'm ok about skins because I can play without them but online characters is big problem. The characters like Wortox and wormwood have very different gameplays but some of us can't play with them bc of country, family or economic problems. I know klei doing this for game crackers but maybe they can make a 30 days counter to testing game inventory while online? They can lock saves If we don't open game online for 30 days? It's would be great I think!
Even can't you guys tell is it possible or not?

Year of the Carrat
Every year we get a new Chinese New Year event, bringing to us cool new items and mobs to mess with! What i'm wondering is what will next year, The Year of the Carrat (Just assuming what the name is going to be) bring to the Constant? Maybe it could bring some neat twists on pre-existing New Year items and make them more Lunar-ized, or perhaps some New Year themed seafaring items? (A boat/sail that resembles a Lucky Beast?) Or perhaps some Chinese themed food, since the Carrat is a food item itself. (Like a Chinese Mooncake, which would fit with the Lunar theme!)
Long-lasting Twitch drops abuse
Hi!
I am sad to start that topic and don't really want to instigate a mess but it's time to take some actions. For the period from Drops stuff appearance (September 2018), we have a lot of new streamers at DST category on the Twitch and even more viewers. So, it's an amazing way to get a new audience and promote channels and game itself but there are several possibilities how to do that. That's very pitty, that one certain person decided to play so unfair. I mean a russian streamer mocbka34.
In the beginning, there was a 24/7 streaming, after gaining Twitch partnership it's become 24/7 records streaming with the desired outcome - account ban for AFK steaming. After several posts here and personal conversation, Drops were put back but that person still shows offensive behaviour. As new Drops are announced he mystically appears in the DST category and stays there for the first week or two. As VOD doesn't provide any benefits, he decided to use family members/friend/whoever they are to steam all day around. Also, everything on the channel was set that way, to become more comfortable for drops farming (mean commands for time check). And now he even didn't hush up with all that stuff, writing in the title that would be on the Twitch for the drops 24/7 at least 20 days.
I am not a streamer, just a viewer but it's so sad for me to see how one person presses down other, not only russian but also international, streamers. I hope, that some measures would be taken or otherwise such behaviour is eligible and normal, which is for sure not.
