Introducing, Klei Rewards

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!

 


Is there a trick to place objects on the floor neatly (not structures)

Does anyone know of any trick to place down objects on the floor neatly, like how geometric placement would with buildings?

I am trying to find a way to place down thermal stones in a near perfect hexagonal formation around the furnace, and fireflies neatly in a straight line down the path.

Anyone play DST through a VPN? Has anyone found how the client checks for VPN?

Hi folks,

 

I've been wanting to play VPN on my work laptop, but the client never goes through VPN. Anyone know how the client acquires proxy?

I am getting "Can't connect to network, play offline" even though browser and steam is all fine.

Company uses a PAC file for reference.

 

Anyone know how this part of the client works?

sanity changes?

So with how the Tides have Turned, we now have a new sanity mechanic, its limited to the moon biome, but its new. Does this mean we may get some changes to base sanity mechanics in the future? Lowering sanity tends to be a very common downside to items, enemies, mechanics, and characters, yet all you get is a few extra enemies that drop a rare resource. It's mostly a benefit to those who can fight it off. im hoping with the Return of Them update(s) that we get some changes to insanity so its a real threat, yano, make it so it's an actual problem? With a flint axe, good kiting, and enough patients, you can deal with it with little issue right now, so maybe something more is advisable.

I want something more than just stronger shadow monsters, maybe something like attacking random things, or more severe vision impairment, maybe even straight debuffs like slower speed, weaker attack, lower defence, stuff like that. Maybe more enemies are affected by the insanity like bunnies are, so they get stronger. Things like spiders would get much stronger but don't change their loot poo, so you only get the downsides.

Could also just have more interesting shadow monsters, like a ranged one, or one that charges, maybe one that can lock you in place, or ones that have a longer ranged melee attack. Maybe even more inanity things like the hand that snuff out your fire. Like, what if there was a skittering hand that followed you and knocked what you were holding in your hand away, and if you are holding a torch or lantern it turns off when you're hit.

Maybe if you hit 0 sanity it summons a bigger nightmare monster that is like a miniboss, with attacks that are hard to kite easy or has other powers like some of the fuel weavers attacks, but weaker.

Really all I want is losing sanity to be an actual downside, rather than being somewhat helpful if you know what you are doing. They can have it still be helpful to farm nightmare fuel, just make it harder. When hunger is low, you raise it to stave off death, when your health is low, you raise it to stave off death, yet all raising sanity does for you is despawning two enemies and cut you off from a valuable magical resource, sure they monsters might kill you, maybe. But it's not as guaranteed as health and hunger is. if there were more, and more mechanically varied shadow monsters, it would make insanity much more deadly than it is now, which would indirectly nerf anything that lowers sanity, since it brings you closer to most probable doom. these things would include, but is not limited to: wetness, wicker's books, wormwood's plant empathy, wortox's soul chomping, food, magic items in general, and evil flowers.

From the lore, what should be the most dangerous and catastrophic characters?

In the game we all know, well or badly, the hierarchies of power and versatility among the various characters.
But if we were to create a sort of "ranking" based on lore, instead?
I believe that all those who have had the opportunity to sit on the throne are literally a step above the very concept of "human". Their mind has probed parallel and inaccessible realities to our inadequate senses, through time and space, investigating the primeval mysteries of the universe.
So Maxwell and Wilson should be at the top of the pyramid.
Then the otherworldly beings follow: Wormwood seems to be able to control the growth of plants, a power that in reality would be immense! Wortox can even teleport and assimilate "the souls" of the creatures it touches, to say the least terrifying!
In the small world of real humans and their small machines (WX-78) I believe that only Wagstaff emerges, thanks to his absolutely exceptional genius and his willingness to access the throne and its secrets. Follow Wickerbottom and Wendy, for their predisposition to the occult arts, but then no one else seems to emerge... Warbucks has a rifle, Wolfgang an exceptional force and Webber rudimentary scientific knowledge and a faint symbiosis with the giant spiders. Yes, probably Webber would be the best of the worst :'D

Moon glass shovel idea

I've recently came to an idea of what Moon Shovel (if it even gets introduced) perks would be. Stone Fruit bush, which can be found on Lunar Island, is the only Disease-vulnerable plant that can be turned into Disease-prone version of itself (via sprouting stone fruit). That's because when the sprout grows up, it becomes 'natural' and not 'replanted'.

So the 1st perk would allow to safely and carefully replant plants so when they are planted afterwards they'll behave as if they were natural (non-replanted) and as such will be prone to disease.

And the 2nd perk would allow replanting any plant in the game that can't be dug normally (reeds, cacti, banana trees, lichens, light flowers, lesser glow berries).

Since moon glass axe has 0.8 durability of normal axe, moon glass shovel would have 20 uses (normal shovel has 25).

What do you all think?

Exerp from the Wiki:

"In all DLCs, the Piggyback and its contents are waterproof and will not cause sanity drain while equipped. The Piggyback does not give the player any rain resistance, and using it in conjunction with an Umbrella will not protect the rest of the player's items from wetness. The movement speed penalty is also reduced from -20% to -10%. Used with the Walking Cane, the penalty is negated and the player's speed increased to 115%."

That being said, in DST does the piggyback slow you for 10% or 20% of your movement speed?

We all know how most PvP or team based games are also "class based". Where each character is defined as a specific class and designed around it. But Dont Starve Together doesn't have any "classes"

So, I thought it would be fun if I asked you guys what "Class" you would call each character, or just your main.

For an example, I made my own little chart for what Class I feel each character falls into.
And you don't have to stick to just "support" "offence" or "defense". Heck you can make a different class for each character. Just use what you think describes their playstyle best.

Turn of Tides:

Console Players:

As noted in a previous post, we need extra time to get this update out to console. We expect this to take an additional 3-4 weeks (hopefully less), and we will update you with the expected date as soon as we submit to cert and have a better handle on what the date will be.

I don't think it's going to make it in for Turn of Tides but we also wanted to let console players know that we will soon be introducing something new just for you. 

Currently console skin offerings are very limited because each time we put new skins on console we have to go through the entire certification process as well as the process for setting up DLC, which in the past has proven to be more time consuming than we'd hoped. However, if we instead put everything up as one package and allow them to be paid for with virtual currency, we're no longer so limited. This also brings us another step closer to providing better support for console. Consider it like being able to buy Spool to weave your items. This takes a lot of coordination with the platform and is not a main priority, so it's going to be a while. But we want console players to know a solution is coming; likely in an update following Turn of Tides. 

Everybody:

Finally, we wanted to do something a bit special for all of you; just for fun. So for the next two weeks if you log into Don't Starve Together, all players on PC will receive the "Roseate Sail" so you can deck out your new boat with a little bit of style. We will offer the item for console when it goes live there as well.

We'll be updating the game with hotfixes for the issues that are most pressing, but with this update the team will now moving on to developing new content.

Now that we have this first big chunk of content out, a lot of work has been done to prepare for future updates, which should allow us a much shorter update schedule from this point forward. We expect the next content update will hit the beta branch 4 weeks from now, and after 2 weeks of testing will be live in a total of 6 weeks from today; give or take a few days (probably give). We'll have more details about the content and date in a couple weeks.

I stole this idea from someone else, and just threw on a coat of paint.

SO, everyone has their list of characters that they love playing, and a list of characters that they don't like playing as much.

Now you have the chance to put it in visual form!

DST Skins Checklist (Updated: 08/15/2019)

The DST Skins Checklist has been designed to help you more easily keep track of your DST skins collection.  This can be done by manually checking off items or by directly syncing the checklist with your inventory on Steam.  

The layout is fairly rustic, but it lets you view, filter, and search the skins you own, have duplicates of, or are missing in the game.  All save data is stored locally on your computer (in your browser's Local Storage).

The checklist is a single HTML file (images are all embedded) and can be used online or from your desktop:

I originally made this for my friends and I to keep track of our skins collection, but I thought I'd also share it here.  The layout is fairly rustic, however, it does its job.

The checklist lets you save & filter items based on collection, character, color, rarity, and whether you own an item or not.  I've also included links to each skin's Steam page.

You can view the code, download, or preview the checklist here:

To use, save the HTML file to your computer and open it with your browser.  Alternatively, you can use the live preview link above, but Google Drive is discontinuing HTML web hosting at the end of August; so, the preview will cease to work after then.

The skin images are embedded (via base64 encoding) into the HTML file, so the file size is ~1.25MB.  Saving uses the Local Storage of your browser, so your save will be lost if you clear your browser's cache and/or site data.  Javascript also needs to be enabled to use the interactive features.

Here are a few screenshots of what Version 1.0 looks like:

Will reworked characters have new abilities in The Forge/Gorge?

     Although we have no idea if/when The Forge will come back, I think this is a valid question.  In the Forge Mod many people come after every character rework, saying things like "I wonder what changed about willow after her rework", even though nothing has changed.  This begs the question, will those characters change?  Many characters need rebalancing (especially willow and woodie, ironically) and reworked characters present a reason for devs to potentially tweak characters.

     Characters such as Wendy and Wes are so unbalanced people get kicked from lobby and bullied just for picking them.  I think that it can be agreed upon that The Forge definitely needs to be rebalanced.  This problem also applies to The Gorge, but it was less successful and its meta wasn't nearly as unbalanced as The Forge, which is why I haven't mentioned it.

     The reason I made this was to get other people's opinions and ideas on changing abilities.  Feel free to also leave thoughts on DLC characters in these modes, as they fall into a similar boat.

  • The Log Meter has been replaced with a Were-Meter that appears only during Woodie’s were-forms.
  • The Were-Meter drains constantly, and Woodie reverts to Human form once it runs out.
  • Performing specific actions will extend Woodie’s time in each were-form.
  • During fullmoon, Woodie is forced into a random transformation (once per fullmoon), and the Were-Meter drains at half the speed.
  • Reduced Woodie’s sanity drain while in were-form.
  • Woodie no longer gains sanity when planting trees.
  • Woodie no longer needs to eat wood.
  • Woodie has a 50% higher chance to spawn Treeguards and Poison Birchnut Trees.

Here we are again with our next character update! We have a bunch to share, from Woodies’s character refresh, his new skin sets, new twitch drops, Salty Dog comes to beta and a big console update!

With the effects of the moon stronger than ever, Woodie has finally embraced his wild side. Armed with two new were-forms and a (knick-)knack for controlling his strange curse, he's ready to face anything the Constant can throw at him.

Woodie Character Refresh
