i find it strange why the event rooms don't give the one who made the room the option to kick players 

because there are a lot of trollers and people who swear disrespectfully in the game and troll the team to make them lose on purpose 

and we can't do anything about these people because they can just stay and do what they want 

we will have to ditch out game room if we want to go away from them 

there need to be kicking/banning and such to deal with this kind of people

Hello everyone!

We’ve been a bit quiet about Don’t Starve in the last few months, but we’ve been hard at work. Today I’d like to announce a few new things that we’ve been working on:

Don’t Starve: Hamlet

The first thing to announce is that we’ve been working on another Don’t Starve singleplayer DLC! Wilson has found the portal to the origins of the Pigmen, and he’s off to explore their civilization. There may be some bushwhacking and tomb raiding involved, too.

Hamlet will be available in Q1/Q2 2018. More information will be shown as we get closer to launch.

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked Content Update
We have a little surprise for you: Shipwrecked is getting more content! We have added the following to the game as a free update.

Don’t Starve Together: The Forge

In addition to the singleplayer DLC, we are also announcing that we are working on a series of events for Don’t Starve Together. DST events are limited-time play modes that create a new way to play with the cast of Don’t Starve. They serve as a way to mix up the experience, allowing us to try crazy new things without breaking the core game. Events are free for everyone who owns DST to play and will be coming in November.

With the Ancient Gateway activated our survivors now find themselves trapped in a hostile world of fire and battle. They’ll need to team up to defeat the Battlemaster’s army and his champion, the Grand Forge Boarrior, if they have any hopes of returning home. Here’s what’s in store in Don’t Starve’s first event, The Forge:

• 6-player co-op challenge, where the goal is to try and defeat the Grand Forge Boarrior in an arena. The only way to survive will be to work together.
• New creatures and bosses with their own attack patterns.
• New character traits for all characters, each with their own bonuses during combat.
• New weapons, armor, items, and combat abilities to help you survive the onslaught.

Players who participate in the event will also be eligible to earn event specific skins. For the skin system, we are doing several changes:

• Far more skins will drop for players than ever before (by a factor of 4x or more!)
• There’s a new trader in town! If you get duplicates, you will be able to break them down to scrap and craft them into event items.
• The event features event-time skin drops, including the Warrior Skin Set, putting each character in grizzled gladiator-wear.
• In addition to the chance of receiving them as drops, players will have the option to purchase a single character’s Warrior Skin Set for $2.99, or the entire Warrior Skin Set collection for $12.99.
• The nature of the skins themselves will not change, they are still purely cosmetic and optional. However, purchase of the Warrior Set will help us fund further content and events like this one.

We hope that with this mechanism, we can both continue creating great free content while also supporting the development team. In addition, this method of funding allows us to provide content to all our players, instead of splitting the player community if we implemented it with a DLC paywall.

This is just the first of many experiments we intend to run, and we would love your feedback! We have many ideas for events, and we would love to know what you would liketo see.

Besides events, we will also continue working on Quality of Life improvements and bug fixes. 

And finally, a new challenger has arrived in Don’t Starve Together, and she is coming to all platforms and is available on Steam now!

Armed with her indomitable spirit and trusty mending tape, Winona seems to have been plucked straight off the factory line and dropped into the world of Don’t Starve for something or someone’s unfathomable amusement. There may be more to her arrival than it appears, however, as more than a few eyes will be watching the next move of the newest survivor…

Why not sell DLC for Don’t Starve Together instead of skins?
DST is a multiplayer game, and we decided that we want everyone to be able to play, instead of splitting the community. We hope that in this way, we can continue to develop updates for the game while allowing everyone to enjoy it.

When is The Forge being released?
We are aiming to release it this November.

Are the events coming to console?
The events are going to launch first on PC, but we are looking into bringing them to other platforms at a later date.

I haven't used Trade Inn much, but during Hallowed Nights, I went.... well... crazy.

tl/dr: why did charlie wait until wilson was on the throne to rule?

Okay, so I've been looking at the DST New Reign Cinematic, and I began wondering why it took Charlie so long to be the ruler. She and Maxwell both got pulled into the Constant at the same time, but obviously Maxwell was put on the throne and Charlie turned into the Night Monster. A little After Maxwell is released, and his place taken by Wilson, Charlie releases Wilson and takes the throne. So obviously she wanted to rule, or at least part of her, so what took her so long to take over?

My current theory is that Maxwell was more powerful than her, and so Charlie couldn't take the throne. When Wilson was put on the throne, it was easier than taking candy from a baby to take the throne from him. Either that or Charlie just hated Maxwell enough to leave him on the throne. 

Anyways, does anybody have a canon explanation or any theories? I'm not sure if it explicitly states why anywhere within the game why this played out as it did.

Not the best time ever.. but oh well.. we did it

I just sometimes imagine how one character might interact with another and I laugh out loud. Than people wonder why I'm laughing, and dang ain't that awkward.

Anyway, wondering if people do the same thing, and if so, what do they imagine characters doing? XD.

I mean things like,

• Wendy is the closest thing WX has as a friend among the survivors due to her morbid views on life.
• Wolfgang thinks the reason Maxwell is so grumpy is because he wasn't hugged enough as a child. He tries to rectify this by giving Maxwell bear-hugs.
• Wilson and Maxwell constantly attempt to one-up each other with science and magic respectively. This usually ends up bringing a lot of trouble to the group.
• Wes likes hanging out with Wigfrid the most because he thinks of her as a fellow actor just dedicated to her roll, like he is.

You know, silly small things like that. Anyone else here?

Okay, I'm getting sick of ideas floating around in my head, so I'm going to codify them into actual, clear ideas.

1) We Are Impostors

Okay, I'm retreading ground that some of you will be familiar with. I think. But with the new forge, I'm going to reiterate this: When Pugna says we're the gatekeepers, he's wrong. He thinks we're working for Them to forcibly put the Forge's inhabitants on the throne, saying "have you come to return us to the throne?" The survivors as the gatekeepers is a simple case of mistake identity. The gatekeeper is long past.

2) The Lonely Gatekeeper

Now we're getting into things I've never personally heard before. (Perhaps I missed something, but still) There are a few Mumsy lines that teach us a little more of our curious gatekeeper of the past. I'm talking about these two lines: "Are you... Gatekeepers, by chance?" and "Another of your kind passed through here once" I would like to propose that the original gatekeeper operated alone. Mumsy hesitates before pluralizing "Gatekeepers" and only recalls one other of "our kind" who passed through.

3) The Power of Shadows

But wait one second. If one, lone human made it into the Gorge, that person must've solo-ed the Forge, right?

The actual Gatekeeper must've had nigh-illimitable power to ruin the likes of Pugna's Champions with nothing but two hands, no allies to revive them and legions with no-one to fight but you. Maxwell knows that "there is no limit to the power of shadows" and he's read the Codex Umbra, so he's the authority on shadows. Except for the author, that is. Remember, Maxwell found the Codex, he didn't write it. Someone else had such a deep knowledge of the intricacies of the shadows that they authored such a tome as the Codex itself.

tl;dr: I propose that there is only one gatekeeper, and that the gatekeeper authored the Codex.

Now, there's one thing that still bugs me about this. It's a line from Pugna. "We were severed from the Throne!" 

That implies there's something BIG I'm missing. Please add your thoughts below. Try to tear this theory to shreds so it can be rebuilt again, but less wrong.

Maybe they should change something in gift system.We are getting 4 gifts in a week and if we play longer we will get more gifts (Max those 4) but sadly chances getting elegant or even distinguished items is so low.I thought they maybe do something like this, the gifts that we get for playing longer will have better items in them, or just higher chances to get one. Im thinking of something like this, for first present we will get common or classy items, for second present, common, classy or spiffy, for third present classy, spiffy or distiguished, and for last present distiguished or elegant. And chance for getting these items will be a little higher too. For that last present something like that becouse we are getting it for playing very long and reward should be better.It would drop the market prizes aswell.Do you think its a good idea? or system in game is better, or they should just higher chances for getting something better in presents 3 and 4 for playing longer.

Now that gog.com has the gog galaxy game launcher and friends list to run multiplayer games like No Man's Sky, and such, the functionality is equivalent to steam's; does this mean that DST will eventually get a release to work on gog? 

A lotta people say that you just gotta use Woodie as a runner, higher health and chucking Lucy does instant aggro. But if you’re like me and can’t spend hours learning how to aim a throw every couple seconds then here’s a guide for playing as Wes!

I’ve tried playing as Woodie but i’m just too used to simply standing around doing the chicken dance and instantly getting the aggro of enemies to sheepdog them. Woodie is very reliant on Lucy for aggro and he doesn’t keep it as long so you gotta keep chucking her, and you need great aiming too. That’s not something that can be learned quick.

I main Wes and I don’t struggle. I pretty much wear stone flint armor for protection and the feather wreath for speed, and stay in that one corner next to Pugna at player spawnpoint to not have the smaller rounds of scorpions and turtles come after me.

Do I worry about rolls? Not so much because I don’t let it roll me like a pin as I only hit the boarilla two or three times before it puts its shield up. I limit doing damage to it to make it less of an issue worrying about it rolling. I only gotta worry about lag. If it does start rolling I keep my chill because molten darts special can cancel the roll. Or dodge them by going in a circle but often does it come outta no where so If I do get squashed I’ll live because of my armor. Wes op fellas.

Plenty of times did I have to kite that Boarrior in the last round as my team revives each other hoo boy those are exciting moments dodging attacks. If you hug the edge of the arena, when the Boarrior does the flame attack you don’t get much damaged because I can walk out of the path if it’s at a wall!

I like to just wiggle around and get aggro instantly to save my team and the healer. Other bits of facts is that Wes gets revived the fastest so those extra seconds count in order to save the team! He can use any weapon besides books which is also great in case no one can cast a healing circle or bring forth a meteor!

After the Boarrior then comes the new Rhinocebros. Wes can then wear the new yellow armor that adds health and is 90% protection, the tank can wear the ab armor then everyone works together to fight the rhino bros.

When I fight off the new upcoming enemies I will then put up more info!
