Before someone disregards this as a "not another 'wigfrid vs wolfgang' thread" and doesn't contribute or asks a mod to lock it before things get heated, this is purely my OPINION.
With that being said, let's get this out of the way first: Yes, I fully agree that Wolfgang has much better damage potential than Wigfrid ever will, and if you want pure damage and speed, then Wolfgang is the superior choice. However, we have to think much larger than just combat scenarios, and how their playstyles are just different.
For instance, I actually like picking Wigfrid because of her diet restriction. It makes it impossible to abuse mushrooms or spam berries like you may see Wolfgangs do to keep up the mighty form. It also makes cave spelunking much more intense, as bunnymen will most likely target the Wigfrid before anyone else. Although she does miss out on a lot of OP food options such as Dragonpie or major sanity restoration foods, I rather like that about her, as instead of cheesing it with farming, I actually have to take the effort to kill spiders or other things for my meat. (Spiders are a poor example since "the effort" being used here is little to none.)
And honestly, I have a strong belief that she's a much better team player than Wolfgang is. With being able to craft her helmets (and her spears as early game spear replacements) and give them to people can completely change what you sink your resources into. Rather than sinking your time into getting Football Helmets and wasting Pig Skin (which isn't hard to get but you could be using them on Ham Bats instead), you could just go to a quarry and get all the supplies you need for helmets in one go.
A lot of people consider Wigfrid to be "easy mode", especially early game. While I certantly agree on her being easy early game, late game she actually falls off quite a bit, as her quality of life stays constant the whole time while every other character goes up. I would draw a diagram showing what I mean but I'm not home to be able to do so. And while we're talking easy mode, no one complains about WX-78 having basically mod character stats by end game???
dont even get me started on wickerbottom either
Also, I just like Wigfrid as a character more than I do Wolfgang. This is purely just preference, and I don't dislike Wolfgang at all, it's just I like the ginger chick better. Dunno why, I just kinda do.
While these perks don't matter much endgame, I do also enjoy the vampirism skill she has and the small defense boost she gets. Kiting is a better option, of course, but it's nice to have a fallback option in case it doesn't work out in the end. Plus latency issues make kiting a pain in the ass.
Notice how I mention "team player" and "latency" as if I'm not hosting the world and playing solo. And that's the point entirely, as a Wigfrid just has better synergy with other characters than Wolfgang does, and performs better if she's part of a team rather than on her own. And luckly for me, I play a lot of Don't Starve Together... together! And instead of comparing Wigfrid to Wolfgang, just have 2 people play as them and pretty much demolish the whole game with zero issue.
tl;dr - Neither character is better than the other, Wigfrid is a more constant character and Wolfgang has better potential but can also perform worse than Wigfrid if they can't get food.
jesus that was a long post
As we all know, last year we had a flurry of events towards the end of the year and into the new year. These are: Hallowed Nights, Winter's Feast and Year of the Rooster. Now, there is no doubt that these events will come back, but it begs the question: what new will come of them? I personally would like to see new skins, or perhaps new game mechanics for the repeating events. What new items/mechanics do you think they might add to these reoccurring events?

Here's a handy tool to figure out what time that means for you.
Not sure if this has happened with people on the islands that you made, but I was curious if any of you guys made some server games while also maintaining bases? Thought it'd be a fun topic.
Now this thread is not meant to call anyone out, nor is it about venting your frustrations over mistakes noobs make. These are tips aimed more at showing ways of being considerate than improving your skill at the game.
I don't have a lot of time for playing computer games, so when I play DST I tend to hop on a random server and help out all I can before I have to leave (sometimes hosting my own server if I can't find one, which tends to be lonely), and I thought it would be nice to share ways I've found of not being a liability and not getting on peoples bad sides. I'd like to see other peoples tips too, in case there's some I've missed or just haven't thought of. So here's mine :3
I hope you enjoyed reading through my wall of text and I didn't waste your time. Feel free to post helpful tips of your own, and you might help a few people become a little more helpful. Maybe.
If you want a tldr just read the bold text.
As you all know, one the our most beloved DST modders, FelixTheJudge, passed away a few months back.
I really like his mods and I was thinking that it might be a shame to let his modding legacy get obsolete after all the love and hard work he poured into his mods and the game itself.
That's why I'm making this thread, so all the modders once involved in his work or the ones who want to take on his legacy can find a way to keep his legacy alive.
For logistic reasons, his mods cannot be updated cuz they are direct uploads from his account. This means, the person who wanna take on this responsibility must reupload them in the corresponding account and keep updating them.
I know this might be somewhat weird to ask, but I believe it's kinda sad if his mods just get forgotten. I wish I could do this myself, but I know noting of coding.
I hope this loving modding community can find a way to make this happen.
Respectfully I thank you all for all future efforts towards making Felix's mods keep on existing and working properly
Hey everyone. I'm going to megacon Tampa, and I'm planning to cosplay as Wilson. I already have hair, and a hambat ready but I can't seem to find anything that I could use for the shirt. Anyone know where I could get a shirt that look similar to his?
So I got Don't Starve Together in late June/early July and once we actually got past not starving in winter and Deerclops, we were not prepared for the frog rain. Last time, everyone was huddled in the base, hiding from the frogs, while I sat under a tree far away with a straw hat, pretty parasol, and traps all around me. We were doing okay until someone accidentally opened the gate in the base... Chaos. So this time we're trying to find out what to do, but we're debating if we should have a wall and a gate with traps in front, or just run around with traps away from the base. Or lead them somewhere for an emergency army. Any good ideas from all you experts?
Alright so!
I'm playing on a server with friends and yes we do have mods!
The issue is that when we first start up a world everything is fine with everybody, but then after a while I start to lag and I'm unable to move for short periods of time. THIS ONLY HAPPENS TO ME!!
I just don't get it since I can run Overwatch perfectly with no issues, but I can't play for more than 2 hours on Don't Starve?
I've tried reconnecting, but it doesn't go away...?
I have no other apps besides steam running and I'm confused....can anyone help?
Any chance the developers might change the world gen spawn settings?
Most people don't use the "more" option because it spawns stuff in places where they don't want it to spawn.
For example I want more reeds but when I click "more" it spawns too many of them all over the world & even in biomes where it doesn't make sense.
In my opinion they should change the world setting to only spawn the certain prefab only in biomes where they usually spawn.
Examples:
"More" reeds = more reeds only in the swamp biome.
"More" cactus = more cactus only the desert biome.
"More" rocks = more rocks only in rock fields.
This way it doesn't feel weird seeing reeds in a desert or a cactus in the swamp biome.
I own this game on both platforms, and I can safely say that the PC version feels very clean in combat. You swing an attack on the PC, and you can instantly hear the attack hit the enemy with every strike. I do the same on the PS4, and I feel as though I either miss the attack or need to move in closer to pull it off. I also feel that the attack sound feels as though it's merged together with the next attack sound and it really puts me off kiting.
I can kill most of the bosses on the PC version with no problems at all with the kiting methods I use, but I can't do the same on the PS4. This isn't an issue with the servers or Internet because I've played offline on both versions and the PS4 still performs the exact same way. I play with lag compensation on both because I prefer it, so that can't be a reason either.
I really like playing on the PS4, so it's a shame that I kind of shun it more now because I can no longer adjust to how bad the game performs on it. Maybe if I never played the PC version it would be normal to me and I wouldn't have an issue.
My PS4 Hard Drive was changed about 6 months ago, and it's a first generation version of the console. Maybe that could be the problem.
I own an Xbox One too, and the box set version is going to be released soon. I would really like to buy it on there when it comes out.
My Xbox is a much more recent generation of the console, so that could possibly work in my favour when I get the game again.

meatballs more like METAballs am i right
This mod lets you choose between 7 different ways to nerf meatballs:
lasaga - Monster meat with ice always results in monster lasagna
no ice - Ice cannot be used as filler for meatballs
no monster - Only regular meats can be used for meatballs
less hunger - Meatballs will only restore 37.5 hunger
death - Eating meatballs is lethal
overpowdered - Meatballs are made using gunpowder
crash - Making meatballs causes a crash
the purpose of this is so that klei no longer needs to bother nerfing meatballs anymore
you're welcome
About the bucket-o-poop. I read up on the wiki that it, "It is used to maximize the uses of Manure as fertilizer." But how exactly? I was wondering if it makes each manure fertilize longer, or does it create more...? I'm confused.
Hi. Planning to return to the game after a hiatus, but unsure whether I should go back to DS or DST. I play alone, because I like to play on my own time/rules. I've read about some differences/recommendations for solo play, but they were not very conclusive.
1. I'd like to ask which version of the game is more fun at this moment? Which has more content?
2. Are mods like the improved campfires and smarter crockpots working for both?
3. Any mods you'd personally recommend for either version?
4. Any way to generate worlds that contain at least one of everything to experience the whole content?
5. Are DST worlds bigger than DS worlds? AFAIR making a big world in DS just made the bioms bigger, not more plentiful or full which made it a bad choice. How does it work nowadays?
6. Is there new content coming to DST still?
7. Is there a list of key things missing from DST compared to DS and DS compared to DST?
8. If you recommend DST, what about the renewable resources? If you cannot move to another world (can you?), what of Madrakes or Gears or whatnot?
9. In DST, is there a risk my solo game will get destroyed by some server fart? Can it just be played offline like normal DS saving locally?
10. I've also seen mentions of lags with bigger bases. Is that an issue for single player too?
11. What do I do if I'm an idiot who leads Bearger into the Beefalo herd and he reks them all?
Cheers, thanks!
Hi!
I've played with a lot of people in my past, and, of course, most of them had many different skill levels. It gets kind of hard to measure their skill and what I do/don't need to teach them, so I've made a scale for both new and experienced players to use to roughly propose how good they are (and how well they work with other people).
This will be split up into five scales, all from 1-5:
-(E) Efficiency (how well you plan out your days, your base, your boss fights)
1 - I never plan out my plan sessions, think about future days, make plans, or any of that stuff. I think about stuff spontaneously and make up plans by the second. My base is spread out, messy, and inefficient, and my inventory is always full.
2 - Occasionally, I do plan out days, but not very often. Sometimes I think about what I should do next when I'm waiting for the night to pass. Objects in my base are placed alright, but sometimes aren't very lined up/has a few flaws. I always drop stuff on the floor whenever I need to clean my messy inventory.
3 - For many big projects/advancements, I do plan out what I'm going to do to achieve my goals. My base looks pretty alright, and I have a chest to put items that I may lose in (such as rocks to protect from moleworms and pigskins to protect from Spiders).
4 - Every day, I plan out what I'm going to do in the next few days. My base looks great, I have a couple of chests to keep base looking clean, I always sort out my inventory and think about what I will and won't need for my next goal, and I place items in my base perfectly to make sure that they get covered by an Ice Flingomatic (unless I decide to base in the Caves) and I make sure that the Flingomatic doesn't touch my firepit.
5 - I keep tabs of my plans for the far future, no matter if it's tomorrow or in 15 days. I always know what I'm going to do next, and do certain actions before or after the next to make sure that it benefits me to the fullest with as less materials and time used as necessary. My base is perfectly symmetrical, covered by a Flingomatic (unless in caves), clean, efficient, safe, and supplemented.
6 - I'm too good for this scale.
-(F) FIghting (how well you know how to kite and kill various mobs and monsters)
1 - Fighting? What's that? I just let the Beefalo I base next to do everything. I can't kite, fight, or tank anything, not even a spider.
2 - I can kite a few mobs without dying - such as spiders, catcoons, maybe spider warriors, and even a hound if I'm lucky.
3 - Fighting groups of spiders, catcoons, and hounds are no problem. Spider warriors are a little tough, but if there aren't too many of them, I'll be fine. I can efficiently defend myself against early hound attacks, and I think I can kill butterflies now.
4 - Simple monsters are things of the past. Early hound attacks have become a cakewalk. I now know how to efficiently kill bigger monsters such as Beefalo, Tallbirds, Tentacles, and groups of Bees, though they may be a bit challenging in larger groups. I may be able to pull of a Giant, but they're pretty hard to me.
5 - I no longer need to rely on monsters to fight each other to get rid of them. Simple monsters can easily be handled in hoardes, and bigger monsters will probably be able to be handled, provided that there aren't a million of them. As well as being able to defeat Giants singlehandedly, I also know strategies on how to kill other bosses, such as Krampus, Bee Queen, Toadstool, Klaus, and even the Ancient Fuelweaver.
6 - I'm too good for this scale, pleb.
-(C) Cooking (your knowledge of the most efficient crockpot recipes, and how to make them)
1 - Crockpot? What's that?
2 - I now know that the Crockpot is a structure that can make magical food item that I may want in my base. I only know one or two recipes, those being Meatballs and Wet Goop (if I put in all twigs). However, the food items used in the recipe may mathematically outweigh the value of the meatballs themselves. I'm still experimenting with some recipes.
3 - Oh, I know some pretty good recipes, like Bacon and Eggs, Honey Nuggets, maybe some other health-restoring foods, Meaty Stew, and of course, Meatballs are still with me. Occasionally, while making these (especially Meatballs), I stop to consider that the food items may outweigh the hunger value of the Meatballs themselves. I'm still experimenting with this.
4 - I know what food items are and aren't efficient, and what they're good at restoring. I know when individual items outweigh the hunger value of the crockpot food itself. I eat these if they outweigh the said hunger value, and I only use Meatballs to get rid of all of that Monster Meat.
5 - I basically know all of the crockpot foods in the game, and what they're good at restoring. I know exactly when items outweigh the hunger value of the food itself, and also know when this may be beneficial or can be used for other means (such as Monster Meat for Werepigs, instead of being used for Meatballs).
-(K) Character Knowledge (how much you know about your character, and strategies you use with them)
1 - But he's a robot, he shouldn't have sanity!
2 - I have a basic understanding of the perks and drawbacks of each character, but I'm not sure what they're going to do for me/how to use them.
3 - I now fully understand how the perks and drawbacks work, and I use them on occassion. However, I don't necesarilly use them efficiently.
4 - I have an extended idea of perks and drawbacks, I use them often, and I can use them effectively.
5 - I have a multibranch idea of a character's perks and drawbacks, I use them all the time, I use them extremely often, and I also used advanced tactics and strategies to use my character's power to the fullest.
6 - Boi, I am Wolfgang.
-(L) Leadership and Teamwork (how well you can cooperate and deal with other players)
1 - What is a "tee-am"?
2 -I know that there are other people, but I just make a base by myself, even if it's an administrated server with no risk of griefers.
3 - I do work in a base with other people, but for the most part, I do things alone as much as possible. I don't communicate and talk very well with my team.
4 - I frequently talk with my team about my plans for the upcoming days, and so do they. Whenever necessary, I do activities with them.
5 - I talk with my team well and communication is always fantastic. If there's someone who doesn't know something, I teach them politely. I know exactly when working together or working individually will be beneficial or hurtful, and I and my team establish tasks to each other to make sure that we all reach our goals efficiently and quickly.
6 - I lead all!
Formatting example: E4 F5 C4 K3 T3
Yes, I am aware that this scale is definitely subject to criticism, plus it may not fit in all cases. If you'd like, suggest more categories to add to this scale as there's probably a lot of them I'm missing out on, or you can suggest a change to it constructively. Thanks!
(I understand that this will probably cause controversy, arguments about subjective players, flame wars, etc., but please do not go there. The only reason why I made this is to make things easier for you and your friends. Do not let this become another meatballs nerf thread or else I'll just delete this topic because god almighty I've seen enough of those, thank you, goodbye.)
hi me and my friend where playing and exploring the ruins and we came across the chest used in the methues puzzle and i was wondering if it is in the ps4 verison
