Wendy Rework Idea

With seeing the major changes Woodie got, I figured id give my opinion on what I’d like to see to improve Wendy when she receives her rework. I feel at the moment, Wendy is a pretty ok character with her main strength trivializing the early game. These changes I am suggesting are to help her transition into the mid to late game while still feeling impactful. I also added some team support capabilities in regards to sanity manipulation. (I know being insane has its advantages but there should still be a character in game to help with regaining sanity)

 

This rework will revolve around what I believe Wendy’s main character themes to be which are her sister Abigail, flowers, sanity and easier character to pick up.

Sanity Control
As sanity is one of Wendy's main themes, I feel it is appropriate that her reworked kit main component is balancing her sanity and helping her team do the same. 

New craft able Items

Floral Crown: Wearing the beautiful crown brings great joy. (only usable by Wendy)

  • Crafted mats: 1x Garland
  • Perk: 2.66 sanity per minute (2x Garland equivalent)
  • Duration: 12 days ( 2x Garland duration)

Reasoning: Essentially a glorified garland to help Wendy manage her sanity while in combat with her additional changes.

Tranquil Flower: A lovely flower that restores sanity (Can only benefit from 5 flowers)

  • Crafted mats: 6x petals (same as Abigail flower)
  • Perk: 1.25 sanity per minute when standing around the flower, attracts butterflies and bees

Reasoning: Let's all admit, it's annoying to be insane at all of the time even though it has its advantages. This is an easier way to make a sanity station for her team in the early game as one of Wendy’s main themes should be sanity manipulation.

 

Combat

Abigail should be Wendys main offensive tool. This revamp will revolve around Wendy enhancing what Abigail does as well as solidifying Wendy's roll as a support/range dps. (As opposed to being in the front line since Abigail will be tanking in most scenarios) I strongly agree Wendy should keep her -.75 damage modifier as Abigail should be a part of her core combat kit.

New craft able items to enhance Abigail

Flower of Rebirth: Instantly revives abigail to full health!

  • Crafted mats: 6x petals, 1x nightmare duel
  • Sanity cost: 50

(On rebirth abigail will drain an additional 50 sanity, so it is better used outside of combat)

Flower of Rage: A violent storm of petals surrounds abigail increasing her damage and range for 30 seconds.

  • Crafted mats: 6x petals, 1x nightmare duel
  • Sanity cost: 75
  • DPS increased to 50 (from 
  • Attack range increased to 2.5 (from 1.5)

Flower of Regeneration: Instantly resorts 100 health to Abigail and increase her regen to 10/hps for 30 seconds. (300 heal over time)

  • Crafted mats: 6x petals, 1x nightmare duel
  • Sanity cost: 75

Reason: Abigail falls off late game as bosses destroy her and her single target damage isn’t the greatest. Of course there are still scenarios in which she is useful but for the most part she's kind of lackluster as the game continues. These items bring some offensive and defensive capabilities to help Abigail shine as you encounter harder bosses. The drawback to these power-ups are dramatic dips to Wendy’s sanity as each flower is being used. These drawbacks can be addressed by some of the new tools Wendy gets with her reworks; Floral Crown, tranquil flowers, thorny lasher weapon, and to a greater extent the rose whip.

 

New craft able Weapons

Thorned Lasher: An extremely pleasant smelling whip that puts the user's mind at ease.

  • Crafted mats: 1x cat tail, 12x petals
  • DPS: 27.2
  • Durability: 175
  • Special effect: Double the normal melee range. No sanity loss from combat is negated (while equipped)

Reasoning: This allows Wendy to safely stay in the back lines and let Abigail tank while using her new support items. The whip is also fairly easy to make and can be an alternative crafted weapon (rivaling the battle spear) for newer players struggling with kiting/sanity.

Rose Whip: A lovely whip infused with dark magic. (only usable by Wendy)

  • Crafted mats: 1x Abigail flower, 1x Thorned Lasher, 1x Tail o' Three Cats, 10x Nightmare Fuel (Tier Shadow manipulator)
  • DPS: 54.4 (x2 Tail o' Three Cats)
  • Durability: 175
  • Sanity cost: 20 Sanity per minute (while equipped same as dark sword)
  • Special effect: Double the normal melee range. High Chance to trigger unlock Abigail true potential. (trigger all three Abigail modifiers)

Reasoning: Wendy’s best offensive weapon for the end game. Difficult and annoying item to craft but makes Wendy a power house as she no longer needs her craft able flowers to enhance Abigail. 

 

Removed/revamped

Comfortable with darkness gets cut since she will already have different ways to restore and manage her sanity. If anything she receives the same perk if Abigail is alive at night with her.

 

Please tell me what you guys think about these ideas. Wendy is my favorite character in DST and I hope whatever her rework entails makes her as fun and interesting as some of the newer characters.
