Frog rains make spring too easy.
1. Trivial to deal with.
Possibly the easiest ways are:
Geese and their babies: Absolutely get rekt by frogs. Players can just sit back and enjoy the show then bam. Better yet, all goslings will attack frogs after frogs kill their parents - another feast.
Bunny farms/Beefalo herds: However frogs tend to wreck relatively small herds/farms. Large bunny farms apply to mid-late game only.
No player actions required and bam - free loot... It completely defeated the purpose of geese - they are supposed to make the game more fun/challenging rather than acting as a free meat source.
2. Food.. Foood.. Too Much Foooood!!!
Frog rain produces too much food that I'm more worried about overeating than starving. Seriously, every frog rain ~= 80 frog legs + various drumsticks/meat . ... it's like Christmas. Well admittedly on the other hand it makes the game harder because I gotta spend some time picking up everything... But still, it makes food hunting trivial in spring.
3. - "Even in purgatory it remains the most precious of metals" - mmmmmm.... Nope
What do I do with extra meat? Feed to birds -> eggs -> pig king -> gold.
Seriously, I have way too much gold (like ~1000) even though I use gold tools already. Meanwhile, I constantly look for nitre for salt licks... Q.E.D.
Yeah... it does make spring pretty trivial in terms of food, geese loot and gold. I'm thinking about maybe introduce enraged klaus rain or toadstool rain to elevate the difficulty a little bit.
