I played a lot of Wortox and Wendy in beta, and gave a lot of feedback. Near the end of beta I was worried that some issues of Wortox weren't going to be addressed, but then most were in an update right before launch. I still have some requests for Wortox, that I am listing below.
Overall, I am pretty happy with the Wortox skill tree! The last tweaks to Wortox, and the AOE bugnet addition to the knabsack, really helped a lot. It made it go from a wasted filler point for me (I never use it as a weapon), to something I use all the time. A cheaper bug net is always useful, and the AOE gives Wortox and the knabsack a new special niche. The discounts to the grab function also really helped make it useful.
Thank you for those changes! @JesseB_Klei
I still have some requests for Wortox. These are simple, but I think these changes would add a lot:
1. Soul Bastion 2 could use something extra for solo Wortox, and a little more in general. You pretty much have to pick it for a solo nice build, as lifegiver 1 and 2 do nothing for you solo. My suggestion is a half-drop worth of extra sanity, so it increases both your healing and sanity gain for dropping a soul by 50%.
2. During soul echo, it would be nice if the vfx around Wortox changed when it was a second or two from expiring. Right now you have to have your eyes glued on the souls in inventory. There's probably going to be a simple client mod for this, but I think it should really be part of base game.
3. Cloudy Carmine still seems really bad, though I could also simply never get it, ever. This just seems like a waste to me. Making it work in multiplayer would make it worthwhile, right now it only works for Wortox.
4. Being able to soul hop when on a beefalo would be great. Or at least map teleport. I used to tame a beefalo as Wortox, but don't anymore. I would do so again if you could teleport on it.
5. Having lifegiver 2 apply to the heart, instead of the user ofnthe heart, would be great. I saw that this was being considered.
That is all I can really think of! I finally got to play with the affinities, and I like them both.
I think Klei did great work on all three skill trees last update. Wendy, Wortox, and Walter all turned out amazing. My appreciation for all 3 characters went up a lot, especially Walter. Wendy also went from "interesting, but don't like playing" to really fun for me, due to the removal of a lot of her tedium combined with the Team Spirit commands and other new toys.
