Wendy is my absolute favorite character in the game and idk im just bored and so here's my ideas for what Wendy's skill tree could look like and have, currently Wendy is in a pretty good spot, Abigail is very strong for early game and blending hordes of enemies, while later on Wendy can deal ridiculously high melee damage while she's riding an ornery beefalo with a war saddle and attacking the same thing Abigail is
so really she only has like 2 issues
- Abigail dies really really fast against bosses
- besides Abigail, Wendy has literally no other perks
and so here's what i think her skill tree could look like with this in mind
Abigail
Abigail is honestly fine as she is so these skills are kinda just to make her a little less annoying to use and make wendy a little more fun
- 1st branch (defense): Abigail takes 50% of the damage dealt to her > Abigail's shield after getting hit lasts for 1s > enemies that hit Abigail's shield take 30 damage > enemies that are vexed move slower and vex effect is slightly stronger
Abigail taking 50% of the damage dealt to her would make it so she takes the same amount of damage as players so it's not as annoying to manage her health and also yeah just moving the distilled vengeance and unyielding draught into the skill tree is way better than just having them as potions that aren't worth using, and the mastery skill slowing down enemies makes it so it's easier to move Abi out of the way of high damage attacks + just generally makes kiting some enemies easier, the stronger vex is just nice
- 2nd branch (damage): Abigail deals more damage the lower Wendy's current health is > Abigail does more damage during day and dusk > When Abigail dies, dropping Abigail's flower will cause it to shoot a small projectile to whatever enemy wendy is attacking- dealing 5 damage and applying a weakened vex effect every 2 seconds > every 2 hits Abigail will deal an extra hit dealing an instance of planar damage
Abigail dealing more damage the lower Wendy's health was a cool idea and it incentivizes a more glass cannon play style for her (or just using a beefalo) it definitely wouldn't have worked back in like her original rework but it could be brought back for the skill tree, the second one is kinda self explanatory- maybe like it increases to 30-35 damage, and the third skill makes it so when Abigail dies- which she will- at the very least you can keep the vex effect albeit a weakened one and it only applying to a single enemy, the mastery skill would work like how the moose mastery skill works
- 3 skill unlock: when abigail dies she will immediately be restored to 100 health, summoning and recalling abi is easier
just nice, idk maybe the skill makes it so summoning and recalling her has a keybind
Ectoherbology
i find it odd that despite the fact wendy has so much to do with flowers and potions she doesn't really have anything to do with either besides the like 6 potions that are only for abi, so here's how id like change that
- 1st branch (Herbology): Collecting flowers dark flowers and lune tree blossoms as Wendy yields 2 petals per flower > all petals and flowers as well as items crafted from them that Wendy collects and crafts spoils slower and are more effective > Wendy can now craft a Flower Planter box > Wendy can craft more items from flowers > wearing a garland will increase Abigail's health and give her more damage reduction, it will also give Wendy additional speed
Most of these are self explanatory, flower planter box can be given petals, dark petals, lune tree blossoms, mushrooms, and all weeds to gain 5 back after like 5 days basically its a mushroom planter but can grow other stuff, for more items she could craft im thinking:
- Flower bomb - deaggros enemies when thrown
- dark garland - stronger version of sea wreath
- lunar garland - stronger version of garland
- floral scarf - head slot item that gives winter insulation
- floratilizer - can be used to fertilize stuff kinda like the bucket of poop
- 2nd branch (Ectology): Learn to craft potions that help you or other players work > learn to craft throwable debuffing potions > learn to craft throwable healing potions > throwing potions have bigger aoe > learn to craft more potions that can help in battle
work potions: only one can be active at a time
- Heat/cold potion - increases/decreases temperature after drinking
- mining/chopping potion - speeds up chopping and mining when drunk
- speed potion - gives players speed until player hits an enemy or takes damage
- garden potion - when thrown fully waters a farm plot and talks to all crops
- light potion - gives player small light radius
debuffing potions: these would be thrown kinda like the napsack, only one of the effects can be active at a time, most enemies require multiple thrown potions to be affected, also these should be expensive/season locked
- dearmor potion - reduces defense of enemies
- fire potion - sets enemies in an area on fire
- frost potion - freezes enemies
- poison potion - makes enemies slowly take damage over time
- sleep potion - puts enemies to sleep
- debilitating potion - reduces attack of enemies
healing potions - normal healing potion heals for 30 when drunk, throwable healing potions heal for 10% of any allies/followers/beefalo's health, heals anyone in a small aoe
battle potions (only 1 can be active at a time)
- lesser damage potion - increases damage dealt by allies by 10% for 2 minutes
- fire potion ii - attacking has a 30% chance to set enemies on fire
- frost potion ii - attacking has a 10% chance to freeze enemies
- planar potion - when thrown gives only followers and beefalo some planar damage
- ultimate skill (unlockable after finishing a branch) - learn to upgrade gravestones into resurrection stations for allies and beefalo
they basically act like touchstones for allies, beefalos that are resurrected maintain all stats at death but cannot be ridden for a like 5-10 days
Affinity
- Shadow affinity: Abigail can be commanded to haunt objects, doing the same effects that they would if haunted by a player, abigail also gains additional planar defense and damage especially against lunar aligned enemies
- Lunar affinity: Abigail emits a larger light radius, abigail will now attack nightmare creatures and gains additional planar defense and damage especially against shadow aligned enemies
and that's it i feel i got carried away in writing this but whatever, also here's like how it'd look like kinda
