Hello! I've recently started playing Don't Starve Together with my friend. Being a long, though inexperienced player of the game, I want to help out beginners who have difficult in trying to survive. So here is my personal playstyle of the game, based on my own experiences and strategies, as well as some from experienced players (please remember that this is MY playstyle, so if you disagree, have a complaint, or still have difficulty, please know that you can adapt to other options too).
Before around Day 7: Try not to build a base immediately, and instead keep getting materials such as Grass, Twigs, Wood, Rocks, and other essentials. Keep getting Berries as you find them, as they shall serve as your food for now. You may also get Carrots too, but I've read somewhere that it is better to leave them so that you may have emergency food, as they don't spoil when not picked. Try not to go to the Swamp, Caves, and the Ruins, as they are extremely dangerous to inexperienced ones.
After around Day 8 or Inventory is inevitably full: Find a good Base Spot, a few are: near a Pig King, since he offers Gold Nuggets in exchange for anything containing edible Meat; near a Swamp, because I've read somewhere that Swamps have important items, such as Tentacle Spots, Reeds, Tentacle Spikes, etc; near a Desert, since Tumbleweeds, Hound Mounds, and other useful resources are located there, as well as the strong Dragonfly, with a whopping 27,500 HP; and several other spots you may use your time upon to look up at.
~ If you are not sure of where to base, but desperately need to craft or set camp, only build a Science Machine and a Fire Pit, then place the others like Alchemy Engine, Ice Box, Crock Pots, etc. once you've found a good long-term / permanent base. ~
Before Day 21: Gather everything necessary to survive through Winter. This season can be deadly since you may easily freeze to death, and plants and animals are kinda scarce. You may want insulation (slows down Freezing) by crafting Winter Hats, Breezy Vests, Puffy Vests, and others more. You may also have portable heat by using a Thermal Stone. And try to gather an abundance of food, as, again, plants are now slow to grow, and most animals are gone (but will come back next season!).
Sorry, but I shall turn these tips into separate parts, for easier navigation. Thank you, if you ever in a miracle have read this!
Note(s): Sorry if grammar and / or spelling is wrong, English is not my main language. Thank you so much for giving feedback! This is actually my first Reddit post, and I'm surprised that it got attention. Also, I'll try to make these guides focused more on early-game time, and not including most DST exclusives, as I've only been a long player in Don't Starve, and I'm not experienced with these things.
