Klei Weekly Art Stream!

Hey everyone, as you may have heard, we now host two weekly livestreams on the official Klei Twitch channel

Dia de los Hallowed Nights 2020/2021?

My friends find this Hollowed Nights lacking compared to last year. Perhaps my idea can be revisited in two years? IT'd be even cool to see Wortox, Wormwood, and Wurt translated to Hispanic skeleton costumes with the rest of the cast.

Since Return of THEM is also implemented, there could also be a interesting mix of pirates and sea fairing elements to make this Dia de los muertos event very original. Something like the Spanish sailing elements of Road to El Dorado and conquistadors to reference Spanish history and maybe Donkey people to reference Hispanics and their reoccuring steeds(like in Don Quixote).

Seasonal Spices for events

Warly is a specific character with own tab - Seasonings. He can craft:

  • Garlic Powder
  • Honey Carystals
  • Chilli Flakes
  • Seasoning Salt

But why not adding seasonal spices only for events? I had small hope about Pumpkin Spice as new flavoring for Warly, only for refresh food - like adding 25% more freshness. Also for Winter Feast we could get Winter Spice with same abillity - only for refeshing dish. 

I think it is small thing but always something nice to see. Or maybe it would be unfair in realtion to rest characters? What do you think about this idea

They all look really good and I dont know which one to weave. Imo the Triumphant/Shark one looks the coolest but its not colorful and interesting to look at for a couple of hours at a time.

Wurt vs. Wilba

I don't know about you guys, but I think Wilba should be added to Don't Starve Together because it has a Merm character now (Wurt)

There would be a good rivalry and memes, two enemies in the same game would be wonderful

Save the Ocean Initiative

It’s not a secret that almost everybody likes the new content added with The Return of Them,you can now sail,battle with new mobs,build more structures and overall play the game with more freedom since the jump mechanic and boats are a thing right now,but there’s one little detail that I don’t like about the new updates,and it has to do with the ocean.


When I first jumped into my boat and started sailing,I was impressed by how beautiful the ocean was,the different colors in it,the new bird,kelps,sometimes a white log appeared in the distance,and of course,the lunar island was absolutely fantastic. But now my oceans are literally infested with twigs,grass,rots,and boat parts that I think came from my last sinked boat,I REALLY don’t like how the ocean looks right now,It’s starting to look like the real life ocean (please Klei don’t add plastic bottles into dst).
And the fact that we cannot retrieve this items in the distance with a fishing rod bothers me too,sometimes there’s a rot or a white log very near the shore and you cannot pick it with any tools you have.


So I thought at something :
•Itens like grass,rot and twigs should disappear after the player don’t return to that certain area for 5 days.
•Harvested kelps would not float on water for more than 2 days.
•Seeds should be consumed by some mob offscreen or onscreen.
•Wrecked boat parts should be harvested and turned into logs or just sink as well.
•Adding coral to the games as a environmental bioindicator if the water is clear or not.

•Fishing rods should be able to retrieve an item that near to the player but not in the water.

Just to be clear I’m not a hardcore player or a game designer,I just think it would be a nice change if this little thing could be fixed in the future,maybe there’s people who don’t even bother with this kind of situation, but sometimes it makes me a little anxious to see a beautiful ocean crowded with trash.

Something Sad I Just Realized for Wormwood...

Wormwood has quadruple the amount of sprites needed for his base skin AND his various transformations compared to nearly every other character. (3 for each angle times his four forms.) This also doesn’t account for any particles that he leaves behind when he is fully bloomed.

As a result, I believe the amount of skins he is going to receive in future is going to be very, very, small.

Curio Chests

I've been wondering the past few days, why are there no Curio Chests replacing common skins like last year? It's way more rewarding getting 4 skins at once rather than a Forge skin duplicate that shouldn't even drop at this time of year or shoes/gloves/skirts I've gotten for like the 100th time already.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person disappointed in this year's skins and their rate of dropping.

Introducing, Klei Rewards

We are introducing a system that will allow players to collect "points" on their accounts by doing various things like subscribing to our Youtube or following us on Twitter and then use those points to get items. Currently we will be using this to distribute our out of cycle Twitch items rather than selling them as we had previously suggested. This allows players to get what they missed before or just get them without going through Twitch.

In the future we will update the rewards program with new ways to earn more points and pick up cool rewards they may have missed, or even possibly entirely new stuff. Let us know what you think!

 

Wurt transform merm

Time it takes to get wools

I was wondering how much time I could expect to get enough wools to weave new characters so I did a bit of maths to find out and decided, eh, why not share?

 

So you can get up to 15 curios a week (7 for logging in, 8 as random timed drop, you can farm them on servers dedicated on afk farming).
But then how much do you actually gain from them?

You can get 5 from a common, 15 from a classy, 50 from a spiffy, 150 from a distinguished, and 450 from an elegant (note that since I do not own any elegant curio, I had to guess it was, as all other curios, 1/3 of their price you'd get from unweaving)

So considering the chances of getting each class, a simple calcul:

(5X52.7 + 15X26 + 50X13 + 150X6 + 450X2.3)/100 = 32.385. This is how much you can weave per curio received on average.
Now, let's do ((32.385 X 15) X 52) / 12 = 2105 (I know, useless parenthesis just for clarity). Because months don't actually last 4 weeks.

 

So, if you make sure to get EVERY curio you can get, and weave them all, you can obtain on average 2105 wools per month, so basically a character in a month and a week.

It actually goes pretty fast and you don't even need to do that much of farming. For anyone wondering if they should spend money for characters, there's no need to. (unless you do it to support klei of course)

Imagine. An event about a SEA BATTLE.

Two teams. Team cosists of 3 players.

Team gets a boat with steering wheel, anchor, masts, and CANNONS. Key goal is to destroy enemy ship!

Cannos are very long ranged like RL artillery. They shoot 3 screens away at max.

To land a nuke upon enemy you need to carefully aim it using sea telescope that allows you to see very far.

Ofcourse enemy ship is moving! And your ship is moving, how else you can evade enemy unclear cannonball?

If you are not so good at aiming... Get a cutlass supreme! Be a pirate! Engage in melee and take out enemy crew!

But watch out the sea-hounds and crocodogs. They are really really hungry...

Mea sines, roral ceefs, girate phosts!

Thoughts on long pig?

 (Yeah, this topic is coming out of nowhere. Especially how late it is. But I just wanted to see modern reactions based on an old unimplemented feature)

So if people don't know about the item pronounced as "long pig", it is basically human meat, that was dropped whenever a character dies. It is still in the files of the game but is unimplemented

Stats:

(so I'm gonna take these straight from the ds wiki to not get any info wrong.)

Long Pig, also called Human Meat, is a removed Food Item in Don't Starve Together, that used to be dropped by dying players. It stacked up to 20, took 6 Days to spoil, and when consumed, restored 12.5 Hunger, while reducing 20 Health and 33 Sanity. Long Pig no longer drops from players, as it was considered too macabre, although the assets still remained in the game.

Cooked Long Pig could be obtained by Cooking Long Pig on a Campfire or Fire Pit. It restored 18.75 Hunger, while reducing only 3 Health and 20 Sanity, and took 10 Days to spoil.

Long Pig Jerky could be produced by Drying Long Pig for 1 day. It took 20 Days to spoil, and when consumed, restored 25 Hunger, while reducing 3 Health and 15 Sanity.

Thoughts?:

Me personally would never want to imagine the characters eating each others dead corpse let alone watch a some creature start wasting away at a survivor, as it kind of puts a little too much realism into the game making it more scarier and traumatic. However, some people as I heard, actually do want long pig in the game. This topic is many years late, but I just wanted to see what people thing of it now. So, Thoughts on cannibalism?

Alright, I have to start out by saying.......

 

Passionate Klei: Klei you are by far the most passionate and caring game developers I have ever seen. I will be exploring old post back in 2017, and you will be helping singular people with  very small minutte problem. LIKE WOW! I have never seen a game company care so much for individual people in my entire life. All companies are just there for the money. Or when they do help it's for reputation. You do it because your nice and kind, and you guys really care about your community. 

Game Updates: Now this one is also amazing. Everything you have done for the DST, Griftlands, Hot Lava, etc is amazing..... but I'm going to focus on DST.... Alright so a year ago the game had quite a few problems, and a lot of people complaining (But to be fair people complaining is just going to exist) You fixed almost all of it. You listened to the community. WOW! AGAIN! You guys are truly amazing. I'm so proud of what you guys have become over this past year. Everytime I see a DST ad on Youtube I get happy, excited, (ALL OF THE  ABOVE ON THE HAPPY EMOTIONS LIST) It just excites me. I think, "Wow, Klei has really come so far, done so much. I'm so proud of them." AND YET YOU CONTINUE! NIce job Klei for everything you have done.

The Devs: THE DEVS!!!! I LOVE ALL THE DEVS!!!! They are so nice, they know exactly what to do, and say when we are all angry. I appreciate everything everyone of you guys do. Thank you. They are always fixing problems that other Game Companies wouldn't even blink at..... Wow..... Whether it be a corrupted world, maybe lossing all your skins, or just not being able to access something. You jump right on it. THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Overall: You guys are amazing, I've been wanting to create a forum post about how awesome you guys are, because you deserve it. The people who are bashing you guys and being mean..... go away...... Constructive critisism exist! ANYWAY I love all of you, you deserve every bit of love you have gotten. I love the animations (SHOUT OUT TO THE ANIMATION TEAM WHOOP WHOOP!), I love the devs (YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!), and The game developers themselves (I love DST btw it's an amzing game thank  you for this god send of a game), You guys rock thank you for everything

 

To the CEO of Klei: Be proud of what you created, what has birthed from the exsistence of the best game developing company in the world. Be proud of what you ALL have acomplished. Be proud..... (I KNOW I SURE AS HECK AM) Thank you for all you have done.... And if possible remind your teamhow awesome they are.

I just thought of a idea what if wedder news skins are different spider types like the jumping spider, tarantula, peacock spider or wolf spider.
