My Idea for a small Warly Rework

Chef pouch no longer holds ingredients, instead it holds Warly's kitchen set (Portable Crock Pots, Seasoning Stations, Spice Grinders, maybe even spices since they don't spoil)

Chef pouch can now sit in inventory

It can hold up to 4 kitchen set items along with 2 types of spices

it doesn't work as a backpack anymore, instead working more like reworked Maxwell's tophat, in where you right click it to open it and take things out, maybe you could wear it on your head?

Maybe some new kitchen set items, like a portable drying rack, possibly even a portable icebox? I like the idea of being able to take your base with you at a moments notice, obviously the icebox would have to be empty before you moved it, as would the drying rack.

The idea is him calling it his "bag of chef's tricks" with this rework of the chef's pouch it would make the pouch a viable option for all of the game, since it saves inventory space and lets you take your kitchen with you.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed missing Year of the Depths Worm event world setting icon.

Notes for Modders

  • Dedicated servers now have the following launch options available and are to be used at your own risk.
    • -allow_ioopenwrite_sandbox_escape
      • Allows for io.open(path, "w") to write files again in and around the data folder.
  • TheSim:QueryServer on either the client or server may now query to localhost or 127.0.0.1.
  • io.open(filepath, "w") will work for filepaths that go into the "unsafedata" directory, and end with ".txt", ".tex", ".xml", ".png", or ".json".
    • Example: io.open("unsafedata/mymodnamehere_data.txt", "w")

Question about Klei Accounts that I don't really know where to ask

again, no clue if theres a proper place to ask this, but DST is the only Klei game I play soooo...
why can't I change which steam account my klei account is attached to? due to circumstances i would prefer to have dst on a seperate account, but I can't keep my stuff. I would just trade but only 40/175 items CAN be traded over. it feels silly that I cant, unless im missing something.

I meant to bring this up a long time ago but never remember to do it. Brambleshade is to Wormwood what Elding spear and Commander helmet are to Wigfrid, and compared to Elding spear and Commander helmet Brambleshade Armor inherits Bramble Husk's skins makes more sense , because it is made from Bramble Husk,  it is an upgrade version of Bramble Husk, whereas Elding spear and battle spear don't have similar recipe , Commander Helmet and Battle Helmet don't share same materials either.
Did Klei forget that Bramble Husk has a skin? I believe it's called "Overgrowing Husk" from the Ancient series.

Incentives to kill scrappy werepig and great worm

The two bosses noone kills is scrappy and great worm because the loot is terrible.

 

Here's a way to make horizon expandinator useful

if you give it to wobot to wear, his range can increase by 2x and cover a larger area of chest

Also more crafts that includes horizon expandinator would make people actually seek out scrappy.

 

There should also be more of an incentive to kill great worm and a better way to actually encounter it instead of waiting like 20 days in the caves.

Maybe worm should drop something that allows people to move wormholes a certain distance, that would make it really useful and people would actually go after worm.

The newest addition of being able to feed your beefalo while riding was an amazing addition to the game. 

Now imagine if this was a Walter only exclusive. Would feel pretty bad right?

I think it's time to revisit wether it was a good idea to give wormwood such a sought-after qol; creating berry bushes.

Now, as a Wormwood main people may be surprised to hear I don't need these skills to be replaced. Wormwood's skill tree has some skills that are so amazing they carry the entire skill branch. Not only that but Wormwood HIMSELF would benefit from the skills being added to the terra firma tamper or something similar.

Why? Well just think about how inconvenient it is to invest in something so easily obtained like berries and twigs. Or once youve filled every tile in your world with berry bushes why would you need to keep the skills? So it's incentiviced to swap to this tree and then swap out of it. Yup, Wormwood is a swap character to himself. Funny huh?

The skill tree will be largely unaffected after removing this dead branch. To maintain equilibrium amongst the other branches you can safely remove the locks to the final skills in skill trees. Wormwood can already access affinity skills on both sides of the skill trees. Thematically both sides are alliance to the same faction. You would simply have more freedom in obtaining a combination of lesser skills.

If i had an idea of what sort of skills would replace them while keeping the same "farming" function and theme it would be skills that aid in Wormwood's "free farming". Such as them not rotting, guaranteeing at least 1 seed when planted in the correct season, and the ability to harvest multiple at once to synergise with his carrat skill. This iconic part of wormwood was completely ignored as the dev team rushed wormwoods tree to completion. 

TL;DR

Something so in the vein of being a qol feature, especially with how they can dissappear forever, berry bushes should be craftable by everyone. Surprisingly, these skills also weigh Wormwood down as a pick-and-swap branch, even to himself.

Does Chester Feel Underwhelming?

With Woby’s new rework coming with Walter’s skill tree update, and just hutch in general, chester feels very underwhelming

Hutch’s transformations can be triggered at any time, while chester’s can only happen on a full moon

and since hutch uses up items instead of having a permanent transformation, if hutch dies, you can recover any items still in use

the transformations also feel more powerful with hutch, 40/min sanity aura is NOTHING to sneeze at, neither is having thorns with such high health

Woby has always been a better version of chester in the early game, that walters get instantly, but now that she will be able to deliver items across the map, can’t be attacked and can have a portable drying rack, as well as her monster form, woby just outshines chester in every way

Did Maxwell reincarnate as David Bowie?

This theory may seem a little bit far-fetched, but by the end, you will be fully convinced.

 

    We don't technically know when Maxwell dies (as it happens in the future), but we do know that Maxwell's character was most likely inspired by the real-life magician Charles Carter, who went by the stage name Carter the Great. Carter The Great was born on June 14, 1874 and died on February 13, 1936 (R.I.P. Charles Carter). This lines up with the setting of Don't Starve. Let's assume from here on out that Maxwell also died on February 13, 1936.

    David Bowie was born on January 8, 1947, which leaves almost 11 years fully unaccounted for. The average Don't Starve player would give up on their fan theory here, but I, Ratituee, am a Wolfgang main, and us Wolfgang mains never stand down.

    Speaking of Wolfgang, there is a key point of lore outside of The Constant that many people overlook: how Maxwell faked his death. As seen in his animated short, Wolfgang rescues Maxwell from a flaming train wreck. It is never specified when this takes place, but does 1936 really seem so far-fetched?

    Yes, it does. Not only is it on the late side, but this takes place right before World War 2. Tensions were rising in Europe at the time, and as we all know, Wolfgang is Russian. Maxwell, most likely, was British, and in 1936, tensions between these two superpowers were tense. Travel would have technically be possible, but for a mere magician, literal time travel would be easier. This is where Wanda, the comes in.

    Wanda is probably the most unique character in the game. We don't know much about her backstory, but I, as a Wanda main, can easily scare some sense into it, as us Wanda mains never take 1936 for an answer. Wanda has magical powers like reversing her own age and dealing lots of damage with her Alarming Clock. Is it really so far-fetched to imagine that Wanda could use her Alarming Clock to prevent World War 2 from happening in the first place? Yes, it is.

    There is another thing that points to this truth. As seen in his animated short, Wolfgang lifts an elephant. Everyone assumes that this animated short takes place in Russia or England, but what region is known for its elephants? India. Where did Charles Carter's "death" take place? That's right, India. This makes even more sense when you consider the fact that Britain occupied India at the time, making Maxwell's placement in the region much more plausible.

    However, let's just imagine for the sake of the theory that Maxwell did fake his death in 1936 and that Wanda somehow used brute force to prevent World War 2. This means that Charles Carter actually faked his own death, which isn't that out of place for a magician. For all we know, Charles Carter could still be alive, working for Klei right now!

    ...But, he isn't. Because Charles Carter actually died on January 8, 1947. And I have proof of this rather bombastic claim. A McDonalds receipt from the day that he died.

    More proof of this claim is the fact that Charles Carter was actually directly responsible for the Manhattan Project. If you don't believe me then you are arguing with a literal, objective fact.

    Charles Carter being alive in 1947 implies  the real-life existence of the entire Don't Starve universe , which has many strange implications. But those will be left for another day.

    There is only one logical conclusion: if Maxwell died on January 7, 1947, assuming he used a meat effigy, he reincarnated as someone who was born that day. David Bowie.

    Now, you might not yet understand my theory. But the more astute readers will have taken note of the fact that Maxwell is Charles Carter. Don't believe me? Well, did you know that Maxwell's actual real name, in Don't Starve lore, is Charles Carter?

    It makes sense for more reasons. Like Maxwell, David Bowie is British!

    For the 1% of readers who still don't believe me, please know that I am a Maxwell main, and everything that us Maxwell Mains say, goes.

 

There is one thing that some readers might know. Sadly, David Bowie died on January 10, 2016 (may he Rest in Peace). Assuming he used a meat effigy, Maxwell reincarnated again and is currently in his third form. But who did he reincarnate as? Is he back in The Constant?

If you see a child born in 2016 who speaks eerily like an old magician, writes songs about eldritch horrors, or mysteriously vanishes for weeks at a time, be warned:

Maxwell has returned.

And if you happen to be that person...

Welcome back, old friend.

Why would pigs turn into werepigs during full moon?

Before you scroll all the way down to the bottom and typing "have u never heard of werewolfs?", I recommend you read this through.

Let's look at this werepig-transformation system. If you fed the pigmen 4 pieces of monster meat, or to say, any food that can provide 4 monster degrees in total, like 4 of woby's snacks, the pig turns into a werepig. After some 2 minutes it would turn back, if you didn't make it a hambat. Besides feeding a pig with enough monster foods, Haunting has a little chance to turn a pig into a werepig, and a pig turns into a werepig during full moon night if it's out of it's house.

Now let's look into monster meat. Where does it's "monsterity" come from? It's dropped by most of the game's monster creatures, one of them being hounds, which is created by Maxwell himself. Since Maxwell was the king of shadow, we can presume that he used shadow magic to create these creatures, so these creatures has shadow magic inside them, making their meat monster meat. Thus, we can come to the conclution that it's the shadow magic inside the monster foods that turned pigmen into werepigs.

Then something odd happens. As we all know the Lunar god is basically against shadow, and the full moon period is the time it's effect over the constant most powerful. And we would see...it did the same thing as shadow magic did to the pigmen? Why?

Another thing works similar to this is Woodie's transfomation. He can either eat some monster meats to randomly transform into one of his forms, or eat a figure made of monster meats to transform into a form he like, and...somehow also transforms randomly during the fullmoon?

One clue that can be found for this is the descriptions of the pig princess in Hamlet, saying she had inherited something from her father, and she could transform into werepig like pigmen in other worlds. She would call this ability a "curse", which is similar to Woodie's situation. 

So another question cames: If it's a curse behind all these transformations, why both shadow and lunar power triggers them?

Notes:

Warly is fun because he incentivizes learning about recipes and crop combinations, but he is pretty much entirely dependent on farming, has a rough early game, and doesn’t have enough passive skills. 

Goals:

These ideas aim to give Warly more ways to work both with farms and without farms, as well as giving him more passives and viability early game.

Skills:

Hunter Tree:

  • Butchery I: Warly gains 30% extra drops from animals he kills.
  • Butchery II: Warly gains 50% extra drops from animals he kills. (This is especially potent when hunting Koalefants)
  • Hunter’s Boomerang: Warly can craft a cheaper boomerang.
  • Hunter’s Traps: Warly can craft a cheaper grass trap.
  • Hunter’s Camouflage: Warly can craft a cheaper bush hat.
  • Fisherman: Warly catches fish faster and can identify different types of fish from far away.
  • Glow Berry Distinguisher: Warly can deduce which glow berries are safe and which are attached to Depth Worms.

    Efficiency Tree:

  • Efficiency I: Warly can double a crock pot recipe for 3x the results (+50% efficiency).
  • Efficiency II: Warly can quadruple a crock pot recipe for 7x the results (+75% efficiency).
  • Monster Meat Expert: When a dish would have a 50% chance of becoming monster lasagna, it instead has a 10% chance.

Cooking Style Tree:

  • Cooking Styles: Warly can choose a certain “cooking style” whenever he makes a dish:
    • Home Sweet Home: Gives +5 sanity.
    • Preserving: Lasts 3x longer before spoiling.
    • Hot and Ready: Raises temperature by 10 degrees.
    • Filling Feast: Slows hunger drain by 33% for 5 minutes (unstackable).
  • Flambé: Warly can turn his crock pot into a campfire.
  • Potency I: The effects of Warly’s special dishes last 8 minutes (from 5).
  • Potency II: The effects of Warly’s special dishes last 12 minutes (from 8).

Survival Tree:

  • Reinvigorated: After spending 8 minutes without eating, the next meal Warly eats gives +20 hunger, and any excess hunger is converted to sanity.
  • Emergency Meal: When Warly is starving, his movement speed increases by 10% and he cooks 3x faster.
  • Seconds: Warly can eat the same meal twice in a row without penalty.
  • Bigger Chef Pouch: Warly’s chef pouch can hold 2 more items.
  • Preserving Chef Pouch: Warly’s chef pouch slows spoilage by 75%.

Shadow Affinity:

  • Shadow Butchering: When killing a mob with rare drops, he has a 4x chance to receive that drop (maxed at a 100% chance).

Lunar Affinity:

  • Bountiful Blessing: During a full moon, Warly can put a moon idol in a crockpot to receive 1 of each type of seed.

I'm sorry if this is obvious or if this was unintential, but did anybody else get the Harmonic Riftwear loyalty item? I can't seem to find it in my curio cabinet, even though it's in my steam inventory. If this was meant to be released later, sorry to spoil the surprise.

In-game proof of purchase not working

I ordered the Webber youtooz figure, and when I try and input the code into the redeem in Don't Starve Together, it never works. I've contacted youtooz for replacement codes, those don't work either. Tried contacted Klei who told me to contact youtooz. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong. has anyone had the same problem? If not, any ideas to what has happened?
