So I'm starting this topic after Kiel had forgotten to do Woodie's lore when he had a rework, it only showed off his new powers. I fear for the new lore it might be the same for whoever's next. (And I'm praying Kiel does two things since Wes REALLY badly needs a rework.)

No Steam Overlay

Been part of the family now years and have enjoyed my time with Klei games and for whatever reason, in DST I cannot get the Steam Overlay to work.

It works in other games.  It works for nearly all games, but DST complains it's not working and gives me HELP but nothing works.  I'm an IT guy nearly 50 and been doing this gaming thing a long time, lol.. I cannot figure this one out and looking for help.

I've killed all other processes, restarted PC, Steam, changed config, different Overlay keybinds, yadda, yadda; Nothing in DST.  Works in DS with or without DLC.  Works in Oxygen Not Included, Shank, Shank 2, etc but just not DST.  

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Wendy Rework?

So I've heard about the next rework most likely being soon for DST and people wanting a Wendy Rework. I very much want this because I play Wendy and I have some input on this possibly.

Wendy) So currently as it Stands, Wendy only deals 75% damage and loses 25% less sanity from night/dusk and other sanity auras. This is it. None of it should change, but there needs to be more that still makes sense to her character. Personally, I think one of the additions should have to do with Graves. Sanity loss should be lowered to at least 10 and the chance for ghosts should be lowered. A thought some people had was that she should also be able to more easily revive people. She might take less damage for effigies and telltale hearts (30 or 20 not 40). She should also lose less or NO (preferably) sanity from ghost players (HER SISTER IS ONE).

Abigail) as it stands for Abigail, She has her flower, takes 50 sanity to summon, has 600 health with 1hp per second of healing and does an AoE attack of 10, 20, 40, during Day, Dusk, Night, respectively. I think this is good, This currently stands very well for Wendy's role as a group mob person via Abigail. The problem is bosses and control. I think that for boss fights Wendy could make certain objects that tinker Abigail's role in the fight. They would turn Abigail into more of a support (giving Wendy MORE than 100%, higher Armor, or speed boost for a bit). These objects would take up sanity like it does to summon Abigail, though not as much. They should be a little expensive and last a decent amount of time but not too long (30 sec?) For crafting it might take nightmare fuel or petals, and items that correspond with there purpose. For better control of Abigail, maybe you could pacify, or force Abigail to follow close behind you if she is fighting something you don't want. I also think if you are in a rare situation where you have to attack Abigail and un-summon her, it should take WAY less time for her flower if you are the one to kill her.

Other Stuff) I don't want a Woodie problem again. If Wendy is reworked and a video is released, IT NEEDS TO ACTUALLY HAVE LORE. Have it be the twins playing when they are younger (this fits for what we got for Warly), something alluding to how Abigail died (or how Wendy can summon her), or how she might be related to Maxwell. NOT some random stuff of her new powers.

Webber's Rework: How to Make him more of a Monster

Didn't expect another rework thread from me, huh? I've already posted a thread similar to this before, but since Klei is encouraging conversation on new mechanics, I feel like revitalizing this discussion. Not only that, but I have revamped all of my ideas and implemented previous criticism.

So, Webber. My first main, and still a co-main(?) to this very day. The thing that has originally drawn me to him is the fact that he is a scary monster. However, the only "monster-y" thing in his kit is his ability to befriend spiders. Let's have the idea of making Webber have a more monster-y playstyle our focus on his rework.

Now, there are two perks that I have put thought into. Both compliment and work with each other, but they WILL be controversial, due to their nature.

The first one, night vision.

 -Webber has Nightvision, however he can only see a limited range around himself, which is a bit smaller than a torch.
 -When under 50 sanity, Webber's night vision starts flickering, increasing in speed and severity as sanity gets lower. When insane, Webber's nightvision deactivates completely.

And the second, Webber does not lose sanity during dusk and night, instead losing sanity during the day.
 -This would cause Webber to, on average, lose more sanity each day, as day phases are usually longer than dusk+night phases, especially during early Autumn.
-He still would lose sanity in complete darkness, however he's probably already insane due to his nightvision failing. (Maybe Webber could periodically suffer sanity drain as his night vision is flickering, but only when it's severe.)

 

Proposing Night Vision is a touchy subject. It gets rid of the threat of Charlie, which is a primary threat to new players. To prevent this from being abused - and to disallow Webber from being flat-out immune to Charlie - his Night Vision deactivates when insane. This goes well with the fact that Webber will usually lose more sanity than other characters due to day phases. What these perks also do is expand upon the idea of the "Is a Monster" perk that Webber has.

However, the most important part of these perks is that they provide valuable mid-to-late game potential. While Webber players are going to have to deal with sanity issues much more often than other characters, having built-in nightvision may make Webber not only viable, but favorable for late game, which is something that Webber desperately needs. Currently, Webber has absolutely nothing going for him after mid-game.

These proposed perks can also give potential for Webber to fill the role of "Cave-Dweller" character.
 -He won't lose any sanity in the caves, allowing for him to simply use a top hat to keep sanity up.
 -Night Vision will remove a decent amount of threat within the caves, which is juggling your light source for weapons, tools, armor, etc.
 -His silky beard actually compliments this idea greatly as Webber only needs that and a thermal stone (which is also easily obtained underground) to survive through Winter. The only season he needs to look out for is Spring, although you could make a Rain Hat to make it easier.

These changes alone would probably be more than enough for a great rework. However, nothing is stopping me from throwing in a few more Quality-Of-Life ideas, in the form of craftables. These could be thrown in the Structures Tab, or a new "Spider" tab. If the latter is implemented, then the normal Spider den's crafting recipe would most likely go here too.

"Cave Spider Den"
-Requires Rocks (15?), Flint (12?) and "Cave Spider Eggs" (drops from naturally spawning cave spider dens, can't be planted.)
-A single cave-dwelling spider will wander around the den at night, contrary to their natural counterparts. In addition, spiders spawned from Cave Spider Dens created by Webber will only retreat back into the dens during the day, allowing Webber to utilize them more easily.
-Can only be destroyed with pickaxes or by grief-capable mobs such as Deerclops.

"Shattered Spider Hole"
-Requires Moon Rocks (4?), Moon Glass (4?) and Monster Meat (20?)
-Functions like the natural equivalent, requiring a pickaxe to break.

"Webbing"
-Requires Silk (maybe 8 or more since Webbers usually have too much of the stuff in mid-game.)
-Can be placed on turf tiles, causing said tile to become "Webbed" similar to the tiles surrounding spider dens.
-Can be removed with a Pitchfork; Doing so will NOT remove the turf underneath.
-Trying to dig up Webbing created by a spider den will fail, and make your character say that it's too strong.

"Den Wall"
-Requires Silk (12?) and Cut Stone (1?), creates 6.
-Has as much health as a Wooden wall, can be repaired with Silk.
-Spiders do not attack it.

"Silk Wrap" (like those things you wrap around a broken arm, except silk)
-Requires Silk (4?), Papyrus (1) and a Spider Gland (1).
-Heals 20 HP.


Honorable Idea Mentions: (Basically, ideas that I couldn't really fit anywhere else but are ideas that I know are popular.)

Being able to sleep in spider dens
-This idea could be implemented to give new players a way to escape the sanity drain of daylight. Due to how easy it is to get spider dens and how common they are, they shouldn't give Health.

Changing how spider farming works
-It *is* a bit out of character for Webber to care so much for his spider friends, but then cause a mass genocide every night. Instead of this, befriended spiders could have a chance to weave silk for Webber, and refuse to aggro on spider enemies (except Webber). However, this will severely gimp his food-farming potential.

So,we've been building near a pig village but we're at the point of building our roads.The thing is the pre-generated road is blocking us from doing that(for aesthetic purposes)Is there a way to get rid of it?

Cannot download Don't Starve Soundtrack?

So, my reason for posting this in the DST forums is that the DS Soundtrack got an update just a few hours ago that added all of this:

Which is super cool and I was excited to hear them (especially track 44 omg), but anytime I try to download, I get this error:

A friend mentioned the same thing happening to them, and none of the fixes I'm finding online seem to do anything, so I think this is a problem on Klei or Steam's end...


Forge's shadow manipulator? Has it ever existed?

Going into google images I found these sketches:

Are these are official Klei sketches? And if so, why haven't they become real skins? The manipulator number B, built with the remains of the weapons and armor of the Grand Forge Boarrior, I think is the most beautiful and poetic skin I've ever seen.

The ultimate trophy for triumph in the arena and versus the horrors of the Forge.

How does the constant pick it's Victims?

Known victims as of now 2/11/2020:

So, right now the only known victims that we have seen are Wilson, Winona, Warly and Maxwell! We all seen these characters experience their time being "Taken" into the constant. An extra character I could add is technically Willow, since she has experienced the supernatural of the constant being chased by a Very real Freaking Terror Beak in the real world as it smashes through the floor boards of the orphanage room.

I'll write more to this but anyone have any ideas so far any patterns or clues, besides the fact that the characters names are spelt first with a W for these specific characters?

hello i got a new pc with radeon rx560 and when i run the game it appears with low resolution and windowed, changing the resolution and turning on the fullscreen option doesnt change anything. I have also edited the .ini but every time i run the game the fullscreen option changes to FALSE

Annnnd away we go! The Year of the Carrat has begun!

To celebrate the Year of the Carrat we have added a new activity in the game, a ton of new item drops, new streaming items, a new login item AND soon closer to Valentine's day a new telltale heart log-in item. 

  • Compete in the cut throat world of Carrat Racing to earn Lucky Gold Nuggets.
  • Build Gyms to train prize Carrats.
  • Construct longer and longer Carrat race courses to raise the stakes.
  • Purchase old and new rewards from the Carrat Shrine, such as Red Firecrackers,  Lucky Beast costumes, and the new Floating Lantern.

We've also added a ton of new items to the game.

What kind of DST stuff you'd like to see on Klei Store ?

Hi everyone, how you're going ? Today, I wanted to talk about one of my favourite sort of items that exists : OFFICIAL MERCH !

Yet I have a small-decent collection of those and they're mostly dedicated to Klei and other indie studios I follow, you know the kind of vibes these little things can give you ! ^^

 

And regarding Klei, I was wondering if the shop will eventually get some fresh stuff one day, the last items that have been added was the Pop Figures from December 2018, which are very cool and always by my side when I'm playing (like 4 meters from me at the moment, with my Glommer Plush).

 

Well, yet this is not the last event from the shop, cause most of the previous "out of stock" items have been completely removed...waxwell.png.4bd73d46a3ae6bd090b5093c74bd2b40.png

I had this exact face when I've noticed I couldn't have Calico Chester in time :

 

But hmm... I still have hope we'll have some sick stuff soon... and if YOU had the great power to add a new item to the shop, plush, figure, whatever it is, what would it be ?

Wendy Belongings Set

Okay guys so here the deal- I know that your all probably really sick and tired of seeing me creating Topics, so You can breath a huge Sigh of relief, I am only planning to create 3 Topics throughout the entirety of 2020.

This one will be the first of those 3. With that said And With Wendy’s Rework looming over our heads.. I want to Talk Specifically about WENDYS REFRESH, well, to be more Precise and to the point the BELONGINGS SKIN SET that will come With Wendy’s Refresh

(And why Wouldn’t she get one?? Willow and Woodie got them.)

So here it is-

I am Hopeful that Wendy’s Refresh will bring a new Belongings skins for-

A gothic looking Abigails Flower, Maybe a new Head Garland Or Parasol and most Importantly of all TOMBSTONES.

Yes I want to craft my own freaking Tombstones.. because I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again-

“Me Likey Da Spooky!”

if ANY Character in the entire game is ever going to be able to craft graves or be able to befriend ghost it HAS to be Wendy.

I was thinking something along the lines of making her a tiny bit like Wurt, or Webber where she can “Befriend” Ghost followers mobs and have them follow her around. 

Instead of giving Abigail Insane some Insane  DoT, you would need multiple ghost followers for both larger AoE & Damage.

However- to balance this Wendy would only be able to befriend ghosts if Abigail is ALIVE, so if Abigail isn’t with Wendy (or If Abby Dies In Battle) All the Ghostly followers become Hostile once again.

Just in General- Wendy is supposed to be this Spooky little girl who has a ghostly sister, and isn’t afraid of ghosts.

So... Why SHOULDN’T she be able to befriend ghosts mobs?

I Do not Feel That This changes Wendy Too Much because her Core Gameplay still Centers around Managing and Maintaining Abigail.. 

This just gives Wendy a more Unique Ghost based trait, and I am very hopeful this is what Klei will be aiming at with her Rework.

IF I could (personally) Choose exactly what the Craftable Belongings Tombstones looked like in her Skin Set it would be the Gargoyle In this Top Left Picture Frame here.

Has any one figured out a fix to get this to work? I suspect that my lua error is from this, as I very carefully checked my other mods before playing.   I know ZupaleX hasn't been on in quite some time, but I'm really hoping someone has figured a work around for it that I could do in the meantime.
